Well, i gave up setting default actions to "call mobile" to all contacts that i have inside of this widget, as every time i reboot they all are gone except the #1 contact in it, that has the setting stored.
Do you have the same behaviour?
Maybe there's some possible fix for that?
I have the same thing going on with mine. I have about 8 contact so far and only 5 of them will keep the default action, so i just gave up until its fixed. Hopefully it will be fixed in the update.
I had this problem and have found the fix....works for me.
Go to the web site for Gmail and put the contacts that you want to keep a "default action" in the "Starred in Android" folder.
No issues here. All mine are sticking. I have them backed up to my exchange server though and did my initial sync to bring them in.

I'm not sure. I've been syncing with exchange since smart phones existed and when I setup my exchange account on my new phones it just pulls everything in. My last phone was an HD2 so I had the people widget setup on that. Every sense Rom I used after that has just synced and pulled them in.

What i did was exported all my contacts from my previous phone (nokia n900) to vcard, then in gmail i went to contacts page, imported all contacts from vcards. then in my HTC i just set to sync with my google account and voila, it works
What's up people!
I use My phone explorer but often I got situation of duplicated contacts and bull**** I'm tired to deal with. If I leave it to google it will sync only emails but for phone numbers what do you use? I'm in canada on wind network so tmobile won't work... how do you easily deal with this?
Cheers!!!
I have all my contacts in google. None on the phone or sim card, just google. Every time I flash a rom, I get them all back on the first sync. Never had an issue with syncing or losing contacts doing it this way.
Also, make sure contacts syncing is turned on in your google accounts and sync settings.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Google agreed. Simple and effective.

Contacts --> Menu Key --> Display Options
Set these settings to whichever combo works best, which I'm guessing may be to enable only Contacts on your Phone and uncheck most of the rest.

GOOGLE is the easiest and it backs up phone numbers as well

I luld.
But yeah seriously, google.
Until recently I was relying on Facebook to sync my contacts... herp derp
Only problem is if you dont want to use the old tacky looking and buggy as crap facebook app... Most modified fb apps i've seen dont have that feature.
For those of you who are experimenting with AOSP ROMs on your HTC phone and want to synchronize contacts and calendar items with your desktop, have a look at this application. You can install the Android version via the market, the desktop install is freely available from the developer's website below.
http://global.mobileaction.com/product/product_AM.jsp
Also have a look at MyPhoneExplorer. It is also free from the market and very similiar software. You can view your phone's screen on your monitor and operate your phone with your mouse and keyboard. It is a proven software.

Interesting. I like the less cluttered look of this desktop version, but what worries me is the non-english support forum. I wonder if using both of these tools, in addition to the HTC sync software, might create some sort of incompatibility.
ETA: I also wonder how these utilities will respond when switching between ROMs or versions. I don't know how they track synchronization sessions. It'd be a disaster if contact items were duplicated or triplicated when updating or experimenting.
I dont know if this goes here but i have been searching around for a answer.. on my inspire I had to reinstall my rom and when i did for some reason i cannot find my phone contacts.. how in world would i get them back I did have titanium but even it says theres nothing there.. i also just two days ago did a fresh backup on titanium.. strange huh.. so far everything has been replaced but my dialer contacts..

Did you have them synced with Google? If you did then just resign into your google account and they will be restore. As for TIBU it doesnt back up contacts by default as they are stored in System Data and restoring any system data, like contacts, sms, emails, wifi settings and things like that can cause huge issues when changing roms.
I had them synced but for some reason i cannot no matter what find them.. and they did not resync on the cell when i set it up again

once your sync options are double checked as Zel mentioned, sign in to gmail from the gmail app and get your email, this puts it into a forced sync. Should have all your stuff back.
Thanks for sharing, BillTheCat. I was not familiar with this app. I'l check it out. I've been using Google to sync my stuff.

Did 4.4 KitKat by a chance add some way of syncing Facebook contacts with the phones contacts. Or people app I should say. Or do we still have to use third party apps like haxsync?

Nope. That most likely will never come back.
Ubersync does a fantastic job of doing it though. Been using it since 4.0

I've used HaxSync for forever now, but I wonder if it's still the best solution. I haven't synced my N5 yet.

You are incorrect.
Search on google: android 4.4 facebook contacts
Go to the page called "Know your mobile".

It's just a link talking about the new features of 4.4 and that's it. Or that's all I can tell because I didn't do the ADVERTISING SURVEY REQUIRED to view the article.
People just trying to get you to complete surveys and garbage. I thought XDA was free from troll accounts and bots.

same here. i now downloaded it from pirate bay but it does not work (v2.5.2). When I add the HaxSync account in the settings, I can login with my Facebook credentials, then facebook asks for permissions and when I click to proceed, just a white screen appears and nothing happens.
A question to the guys with a Nexus 5 and HaxSync working: which version do you use?

Previously I had HTC One X and I loved that integration with facebook. I have noticed long time ago that HTC puts facebook tag data for every contact (note field) so that can easily connect my phone contacts with facebook profiles any time.
Is there any way to use that data to do the same with N5 (or any other device)?

I know exactly what you mean. And the answer is: No. Unfortunately not. I have already spent hours to restore and relink the HTC facebook tags on other HTC and non HTC phones. Nothing is working.
I now found the app Contacts+ and it seems to have everything I was looking for. Recommendable so far.
It seems that haxsync can use htcdata tag and sync your contacts, but unfortunately it is removed from the Play store because of some issues with Facebook Platform Policy Team .

Works for me, hence why I posted it. I also have it installed on my phone as I bought it ages ago
(Originally posted in the I9300 forums, But mine is a verizon)
So after my droid X shattered i picked up a Galaxy S3 off swappa and i love it. Until now... I have 2 gmail accounts currently. I am phasing one out since it is under a sub domain of gmail. The non -profit i worked for used gmail to handle all customer and technician info and emails. It allowed us to avoid renting a mail server or paying a ton.
Long story short its got a @pinelink ending. The problem is that email address's on gmail with a diff sub domain cannot get a lot of the features and add on's that a std gmail address get. So i created a new email on gmail, synced with old info and have the messages being forwarded to new email.
Problem starts when i try to add both accounts to my S3, If i add one, say the old email. works fine, And all my games and apps recognize the old address so i dont loose everything. When i add the second account, after the setup wizard where it ask's you is it new or existing? address and password, and click add arrow, POOF. Phone drops BOTH emails like they were never even there. If i don't add 2 its fine.
Doesn't matter what order i add them or what i do after. If just immediately says account added, check under accounts and nothing is there.
Any help is appreciated. Also i needed to know if there is a easy way to root the Verizon version yet? i was under the impression Verizon locks the boot-loader.
Specs:
Verizon S3 SCH-I535
Android 4.3
Kernel: 3.0.31-2198062
Unrooted, To scarred to try.
Wow no one?
