I had been using pocket cast for my Podcasts. Well as of last night it is stuck in the notification area that it's downloading however I have the app set to only download over wifi.
I have Tryed everything to stop it and it won't stop. I even uninstalled the app.
I fear its affecting my battery. Anyone have any ideas?

Just restart your phone and see if that does the trick
Try downloading Astor file manager and checking if it left any residual data or files . I use double twist to manage my podcast it works great.

I'm suffering with this on my Atrix, which is running 4.1.1
I find that if you go to remove the podcast completely from Pocket Casts, then go to manage your apps (System settings, then Apps), and then stop the download manager it will get rid of the download.
This has only happened to me while on JB, and it's happening with a podcast that used to work fine before (noagenda). I've tried setting it up several times, removing it completely, reinstalling Pocket Casts and reinstalling the JB Rom, but nothing allows me to download noagenda. All other podcasts are working fine, and I can stream the noagenda podcast. I don't know if it's a Pocket Casts issue, JB issue or a podcast specific issue.

Maybe, its just my phone not being flashed properly, but the past few ROMs have had some serious trouble running it stable. With CM7, it constantly hit the skip requiring a reboot to get rid of it. And now even with a modified stock ROM it wont play properly (keeps going to artist station selection). Anybody have an idea as to why this is happening?!
Have you tried clearing the data or reinstalling Pandora? Works fine for me on cm7
I dont think clearing data or reinstalling will work since hes flashed ROMs several times and has the same negative result.
It maybe your data connection.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times with no luck and the same result as previously stated. Surely the Pandora has been removed since I have to re-enter my login info. Guess I will keep trying. Thanks
I was having the same issues with Pandora and the RCMix ROM. I bet that it had something to do with ad blocking, so I signed up for the Pandora One one day free trial, and Pandora works fine again.
Or just use Slacker, which I think is better than Pandora anyway.
I've been having issues as well. Haven't thought of the ad blocking, but I have tried Pandora One and its the same. Long time between songs, and it will often freeze during a song, and then skip the rest of that song. Have had the issue with both Saga and CoreDroid. Might go back to a Froyo ROM to see if that is the difference.

Data connection maybe the culprit. It does this to me when I loose signal for a short instant. Try Pandora over wifi and see if its still there.

It still does it over WiFi for me

Try the Unlimited Pandora app. No ads, unlimited skips...

edit: Looks like that thread has caught some ****. Check the last post for a link.
I know many Android phones have an option under "Mobile Networks" where you can leave Data "Always On". Similar to Wifi "Never Sleeps". Samsung phones do not seem to have this option (they do have the Wifi equivalent).
The real life application is this: Pandora stops playing songs after the screen is off because data turns off. Anyway to eliminate this problem by leaving data on? I know that will make battery life worse, yes, but I still would like to know if it is an option?
mine plays Pandora even screen is off, maybe you have "juice defender" installed?

Mine keeps playing on wifi and network if the screen turns off also. Check your settings in pandora.
Juice Defender is not installed. (It was but then uninstalled awhile back)
Also, the song will finish when screen is off (because of the Buffer)... the problem is when it tries to start the next song... nothing.
In Pandora, outside of the Auto-Lock, there is no setting regarding this.
Possibly a.task manager?

Ok, I moved Pandora to Phone (from SD) and I believe it works now. So, anyone out there with this issue? That might solve it.
Installed Atorrent app from market.
Tried downloading a couple of torrents (not large ones just 25Mb).
Good strong wi-fi connection but tablet rebooted 3 times and eventually I gave up. Had to turn wi-fi off and on to re-establish connection.
Anyone else tried download a torrent?
One thing that could lead a missconfigured torrent client to crash could be the number of active connections. If you set this number high enough you can make the app close.
What settings do you have configured?
Nothing special. Just downloaded and installed the app after looking at the feedback which said it worked fine on the Prime. Nothing but the standard settings, maybe I should try another app?

I have a GS3, running 4.3 (old&slow version w/lean kernel). I have a Fios Actiontec router.
I'm having constant communication between my Chromecast and my Android phone and it's causing wakelocks on my phone (my phone won't sleep, so it's killing the battery faster).
The Plex app constantly communicating with my Chomecast and causing a wlan_rx_wake kernel wakelock.
I haven't run plex today at all and my plex server PC is off.
I ran a network traffic logger and I see 2 entries constantly.
Plex SRC 192.168.1.127 DST 239.255.255.250
Kernel SRC 192.168.1.127 DST 192.168.1.116
192.168.1.127 is my Chromecast IP and 192.168.1.116 is my phone IP.
If I force close plex, it stops temporarily, but plex soon gets loaded again and starts the communication over.
Same thing happens with the Vevo app, which is chromecast enabled as well. I've tried disabling both UPnP and IGMP Proxy, but nothing changed.
What's going on here? How can I get this to stop? It's preventing the phone from going into deep sleep.
Anyone have any ideas at all here?
I see the same thing does not happen with my HTC One S.

Chromecast known for draining battery on phone due to the fact that Chromecast apps are not completely closed (even they're not in use - in the back ground and not casting). Give this a try; Make sure you terminate (close them AND remove them from the background) all Chromecast apps like Songza, Avia etc... and remove Chromecast setup app. Good luck.

Don't think there's really any easy way to stop them from running. Even after a fresh reboot Vevo starts right up. If I kill it, it'll start up soon enough again.
Seems like Plex and Vevo in particular have this communication. Pandora does not.
Think it's something between the phone and the router since it doesn't happen on my HTC One S.

Well in this case have you try Greenify the Chromcast apps??

I'm actually playing around with that now. Neither Plex or Vevo seems like it will hibernate on it's own though. If I manually hibernate, it does block the traffic, but after I run, then exit the app, they never go back into hibernate.
If they did, that might be a very workable solution. I posted in the xda thread for Greenify.
Still, that's just a workaround. Wondering if there's some kernel setting on the phone or some setting on the router that would actually fix the issue.
You could combine tasker with greenify to hibernate apps when screen goes off or when you go to the home screen.

Yes, that stops the packets immediately. But, I want to use those apps.
Since the apps don't cause the problem on my other phone, I think it's something specific to this phone/kernel.

No, I want to use/keep Plex and Vevo on the phone.
And as I suspected, Greenify isn't the greatest option here as if I'm watching a movie via and the screen goes off, Greenify closes Plex and then if i want to pause/stop, I have to open plex and reconnect it to the chromecast. I lose the lockscreen/notification bar controls.
Really need to figure out a way to the underlying issue here, I think.
Yesterday the Connection Optimizer started popping up an error box about every minute or so about needing to update the version of Adobe Flash on my phone to prevent malware. It then takes me to Adobe's site to download a new version, which of course, does not exist. I never even installed Flash on this device and not sure what the Connection Optimizer has to do with Flash/Security anyways. Either way, it is annoying because it just keeps popping up at random.
At first I thought it might be something with Dolphin Browser and having Flash enabled. I even tried installing the latest version of Flash that is modded (here on XDA) for use with 4.4 to see if that would fix it. It didn't. So I uninstalled Flash player and disabled it in Dolphin Browser and the prompt still pops up.
Anyone else run into this issue?
Just want to chime back in and add that a co-worker of mine is having the same issue on his S5. Seems to happen when device switches to Wifi.

Just turn off connection optimizer
All it does is switch you to Wi-Fi automatically every once in a while
Its a waste of battery imi

I get your point and that is what I have done. However, I do feel that if it is a feature on the device and is not working there should be a fix for it instead of just turning it off. Wondering why (2) of our S5 devices are having the issue but yet doesn't seem anyone else is, or at least not speaking up about it. Called Sprint and they have nothing on record of it being mentioned by others. As I'm still in my "trial" period with the device I want to make sure all sensors and features work as they should.
