Phone App go directly to recent calls - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Is there a way to make the phone app go directly to "recent" instead of "keypad"?

[Q] No Notifications from apps until I swipe away from recent apps and reopen

Hi, so I'm having issues with my completely stock nexus 5. locked bootloader, not rooted.
For apps like whatsapp and textplus, I don't always receive the notification. I will get it if i swipe the app away from the recent list and re-open the app, then the messages will pop right up. Or if i send a message in whatsapp and it wont go through, if i swipe it away and reopen it, it sends.
Any ideas? Happens on wifi and cell data.
This didn't happen with my HTC G2 (Vision) or HTC One S.

Does ART-mode minimize phone app a few minutes in?

Just wondering, this seems to be something I notice quite often and its annoying because I either have to unlock my phone, or the phone app is minimized and I have to pull the notification panel down to go back into it, or hit phone app icon (if i remember to do this).
Is there a work around?
I end up also missing call prompts on automated options

[Android 5.0+] Contacts vs Phone - setting shortcuts and switching between to two

Hi all, I only recently switched to Lollipop and I'm not quite sure how Contacts and Phone are meant to work together.
For example, if I try to make a shortcut to Phone using PIE or any similar app, it always sends me to Contacts instead. And then, once I'm in Contacts, there doesn't seem to be a way to open up the dialer keypad to directly punch in phone numbers to call. I don't know if I'm just missing something but it's rather inconvenient; I'd like to be able to access the dialer keypad from anywhere for quick calling instead of needing a shortcut on my homescreen or fumbling through my contacts or app drawer.
TIA!
Link the Phone app instead. You can access contacts from there anyway
That's the problem though - linking the Phone app often results in it automatically sending me to Contacts instead. It doesn't make any sense!

Is there some way to block the incoming call popup at the top?

The incoming call pop-up thingy is annoying me daily. The buttons are very small, and when I end a call I sometimes click after the other person has ended it so I then start to send a text message (same place button).
I have gone into apps and blocked the popup notifications for all 3 call apps, & the contacts app, and then I went to apps the can appear on top and turned off some stuff there as well, but still the popup stays.
So I would just like to have the normal call screen, at all times. The same one you get when you start a call yourself.
Is there a way, without rooting, to do this?
I've seen the google dialer apk which would probably fix it, but rather have stock dialer if possible.
It's in settings for Messages but not for Phone. Could be different for different Roms.
There is a line in phone preferences xml called "call_popup_preference"
If you're rooted you could try flipping that to false.

In car, while on call, can't switch back to maps...

I have a new Note 20 Ultra and today while driving I was on a call and I tried to switch back to maps during the call and everytime map opened on screen (launching it either the task manager button or the shortcut I have on home screen) The phone app would immediately force its away back on the screen blocking the ability to view the map
I am using Nova launcher - not sure if related

Click to collapse
Thanks. Should I have "keep calls in popup" toggled on ? Does the mini pop up have a speaker button?
