I have a .APK file that I need to edit the name and icon, but I tried few tutorials but with no luck, can someone be helpful and help me edit the .APK file name and icon,
Changing the .APK name from iLauncher to iOS with version from 2.1.8 to 5.1 and the icon to the one below with the correct resolutions in each folder if possible, so it will appear the name as iOS with the icon in the app menu

Hey,
could anybody tell me, how i can change an icon from an application, downloaded from this cool forum?
Technically it's very easy.
1. open APK with 7zip or winrar, search the folder with the icon, put the new icon in it (correct masses and name) and save.
2. put this apk to the sd card and install.
But now the installation is aborted.
It's not an market app, its an App from here.
Could anybody help please?
1. Make sure the zip/unzip app you use doesn't try to compress the apk
2. You need to resign the app with test keys (you'll need the sdk for this, http://developer.android.com/guide/publishing/app-signing.html )
OK. Thank you very much!
I've Google searched, and searched my phone for all png, bmp and jpg files. I can't find anything.
If I want to view or replace certain Android images, where would I find them?
For example, the wifi icon picture that shows in the status bar.
(Android 4.4.2 Note 3, rooted with Cyanogenmod.)
These images are packaged into .apk files. These apk files are then stored in /system/app or /system/priv-app
For this you will need to learn Android device themeing. The images aren't standalone and they are present in specific files. The file or files you are looking for is the framework-res.apk or systemUI.apk.
If you need help with theming let me know.

Apk manager is the solution, incase it helps somebody.
Hello,
This is a guide that will show you how to edit app icons, by decompiling the apk file using Apktool X (current version is: 7.2.2a- Black).
But why would You want to edit a app icon using this method?
Well, at the time of speaking Android N doesn't have support for Xposed so you can't use Flipster for example... Or if you don't have root, by following this guide you can edit app icons system- wide.
Firstly download Apktool X by Andro Black.
After that you want to install it, and find a apk file you want to modify.
After you found the apk, press it once and chose: Decompile res
After that is done (depending on your phone and the apk size it might take several minutes), Use a file manager and open the "Base_src" > "res".
Then find " minimap-*****-** (the "*" could be for example xxhdpi-v4).
Then open one of those minimap folders ( I recommended the first or last one so you could keep track of it where you replaced the icons).
Copy your preferred .png icon and paste it in one of the folders. In the minimap folder you should find the .png icon... Usually it has a name ic_launcher.png.
Delete it, and rename your icon to the name of the stock icon.
Repeat the process in every minimap folder.
After you did that, go to Apktool X and find the Base_src file that you just edited.
Long press it and chose recompile.
Now wait... A few moments/minutes...
When it's done you will get a base_src.apk.
Press it and chosse "Sign".
After that install the base_src_sign.apk
After installation i recommended disabling updates for that app, because a future update will (most likely) overwrite your icon.
Special thanks to: @iBotPeaches for making the original Apktool, and Andro Black for updating the app.
Hope this help's Your OCD
In case this guide doesn't help you, leave a question, and i will kindly answer as soon as i can.
In case this works for You, it would be great if You could leave a thumb's up

Open an app as zip file then res>midmap.
You can see three or four midmaps, there will be a png called ic_launcher.png or icon.png change it manually which icon you want and rename it as what the icon name is in midmap that's all it will be change completely.

Hi,
Yes it's possible to modify it. TMA is an amazing tool indeed . And you'll find those icons in the drawable folder of the SystemUI.apk of your ROM. You'll just have to replace them with the images(.png) you want. Remeber to keep the same resolution as the original icons and remember to keep the signature unchanged when recompiling the apk, since it's a system app it will crash repeatedly if the signature isn't kept.
Have a good day
Edit#1: You have to change the pics in every drawable folders.
E.g: drawable-hdpi....
And you have to keep the name of the files.png unchanged.

Hi,
Attachment aren't working apparently, can you upload the screenshot on imgur ( imgur.com/upload )
For the drawables in vector format, you can use shapeshifter.design which can convert svg to xml, and xml to svg. Create svg files with an image editing software (like inkscape) and make svg files out of the icons you want and convert them to xml with this really convenient website.
If you come across binary XML files (xml files with numbers and letters, not xml code) , you can use axmldec ( https://github.com/ytsutano/axmldec ) to decode them.
PS: The accent in "différent" betrayed your origins lol, you're a fellow French as I can see
