NOTE
For this rom to working correctly you will need to have 3 partitions on your memory card.
Fat32
ext2/3
linux-swap
in that correct order The swap partition will need to be atleast 32 mb. Making larger won't help as that is the size I have left to. may change later but 32 seems to be more then suffcient.

Alternative Method: (suggested)
Install RAv Recovery to format your SD Card

WARNING BEFORE FLASH !!!
ONLY For those who have already a Partitioned SD Card and Tried many times ROMS !!!
1) Mount your SD Card and copy the Rom over it
2) Rename it in update.zip
3) Go in Terminal or ADB
4) Delete your /data/app_s/*.* manually in this way:
Code:
adb shell
cd data
cd app_s
rm *.*
reboot
5) Press immediately HOME+POWER before the splash screen
6) Do a Nice Wipe Data
7) Apply sdcard:update.zip
Installed Apps are on ext2/3 and a Wipe Data doesn't seems to clean them well !
Other Installed Apps are on /data/app/ and I let you decide to clean them or not
Eg.
If you installed any app from Market you will always have it installed, also after a Wipe
Features:
Camera works
MULTILANGUAGE
G-Sensor - GPS - WiFi
Full Market with Paid apps !
IME Support for all languages
I used Noverca Audio files, best one IMHO
Small Size Rosie.apk (just deleted a lot of useless background)
Added Superuser - ANetShare - Terminal - Shazam - Astro - aTrackDog
Added Funny Notification Sounds
Added More Funny Notification Sounds provided by Bhavski
Know Issue
Bluetooth starts, G2 can see my Nokia Headset, but no lucky pairing it
Not all Leds works properly, but someone did
Important note
This Rom is WWE and Apn are set automatically
CHECK YOUR APN !!!
CHECK IT ON SETTINGS IMMEDIATELY AFTER FLASH !

WARNING: This is a release of Windows Mobile 6.5.3. Due to changes to os code, SOME older programs WILL NOT WORK. By this, I mean that an older program may execute as normal, but some of the menu options might not work due to the start button being moved to the bottom of the screen instead of the top like it was with WM6.5 and older. As far as I know, this is an os thing, so I CANNOT change this.
Here's another summer rom release for WM6.5. This one is my 1st release of WM6.5.3. Due to comments recieved from my previous WM6.5 rom release thread, I have done testing of bluetooth and I can say yes, it does work. For those of you waiting on the next release of WM6.1, I will officially say that I will not release it until I figure out how to flash international roms (as this will be my 1st international release). If someone knows how to do this (for example, English is the default language for roms, but you want to flash a German rom), PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. This is the only thing hanging up the release.
Thanks to Makuu (for helping to get me started), Lenny, AstainHellbring (thank you for all the nightly help sessions), the creators of the tools I used to make this rom, and anyone else that I failed to mention in name who gave me the knowledge to complete this rom.

download: http://www.easy-share.com/1910836072/Asus_A6x6_WM653_3.rar
At this time, this will be the only download link. Mirrors will be created in the future (after I give permission).
Instructions (I have included a txt file with same instructions for offline convenience)
Before you do anything, make sure you have at least a 256mb SD card and a card reader (you can get one at a place like Radio Shack or Office Depot). You also need to install winrar (found at http://www.win-rar.com/download.html). Your SD card must be formatted with the FAT16 file system.
To format your SD Card with the FAT16 file system
Step 1: To do this insert the SD Card into the reader and go to "My Computer".
Step 1a: BACKUP YOUR FILES before you start!!
Step 2: Right-click the drive letter of the SD Card reader (differs for each computer, probably either E:\ or F:\ or G:\) and click "Format".
Step 2a: Don't worry about any of the options except for file system, choose "FAT"
Step 3: Click "Start" and wait until it is done
Step 1: Get (OS) rom image
Step 2: Extract files to any folder on hard drive using Winrar
Step 3: Go to the folder where you extracted the files in the RAR archive
Step 4: Make sure that the filename is "CANNES_A_WM6.img"
Step 4a: if the img file it's not exactly "CANNES_A_WM6.img", rename it to that
Step 5: Format the SD card if you haven't already done so using the instructions above
Step 6: Copy the img file to the SD card, see step 6a
Step 6a: Make sure that the img file is the ONLY file on the SD card after formatting
Step 7: Take SD Card out of SD Card reader and put it in the a6x6
Step 8: Make sure that the a6x6 is plugged in via ac adapter before doing the next few steps
Step 9: activate SD Loader using the following instructions {
Step 9a: Hold down the power button and enter button (that's the button in the center of the d-pad)
Step 9b: Double tap the soft reset button while holding the other 2 buttons
Step 9c: After double tapping the soft reset button, keep the other 2 buttons held until a blue screen comes up that says something like Asus Cannes flashing utility
Step 9d: Wait until the process is finished (it's near the end when it says "writing private")
}
Step 10: At this point, your a6x6 should reboot on its own
Step 11: enjoy your updated rom
If you have any questions, feel free to just post or PM me.
As I release new roms, if you have a support question, please give me the rom version so I know what rom you are working with. You can get the rom version from the filename of the rom pack.
Example: Asus_A626_WM614_1
A626 = device (most often it will be A626, will rarely be different), WM614 = os version, 1 = release #

you sir Steven855, are just plain awesome. thank you I will try this one the next days.
Steven - thanks for the new version. Flashed and everything seems to be working so far without issue. I've reconfigured my SDIO barcode reader and all software and things appear to be working. I'm going to do some testing with the device going into and out of blank screen with AC power connected and disconnected. I'll report back with any problems. Thanks again!
For those of you who do run some old programs (like me), I will be coming out with a updated WM6.5 rom (which has the old configuration of start menu on top instead of bottom like this version).

Works on my A696, although I have problems connecting the WiFi to my Sitemcom AP (which can do B+G+N) and uses WPA2-PSK(AES), a WPA-PSK 11b seems to work.

Tanks for the ROM!
Thanks for the 6.5.3 ROM !
I think this is almost a perfect ROM, no battery drains, no wakeup problems, bluetooth is working fine. The only bug what I observed is the task manager problem (not runing the task manager if wireless is not enabled in today).
Thanks again, great work.
This ROM is very good indeed but do you know how to disable the Windows Media "A SD CARD WAS DETECTED, WOULD YOU LIKE TO PLAY" Message when I pop in the SD? Thanks.
Can somebody point me out to a A639 6.5 ROM ? thanks

Sorry, I do not know a permanent solution (although I have seen it before). I can only offer the suggestion of making sure Windows Media Player mobile is not running (if it is running, you can kill it with the task manager) when you insert the SD card.
I'm curious; How many people like this rom's graphical interface better than the one that WM6.5 and previous versions of Windows Mobile used? Also, what programs have people using my roms come accross that work with previous versions of Windows Mobile, but don't exactly work with the new interface that comes with WM6.5.3 (and later versions)? I'm trying to compile a list of older programs for Windows Mobile that don't exactly work with the new graphical interface.
Last thing, has anyone encountered any problems with Bluetooth? I had gotten some complaints about bluetooth issues with the last WM6.5 rom that I put out, and I would like to know if those problems got fixed.
I like more the 6.5 interface, but I can exist with the new 6.5.3 too. The only program what I use and is not 100% compatible with the new 6.5.3 interface is the totalcommander for pocketpc. Any other programs what I use, can accomodate with the new interface.
My problem with this ROMs are only relative with the iGO navigation, which are using more and more memory from one versions to another, and the ROMS are using more memory then the Asus 6.0. But I observed, that if I softreset my A696 before using the navigation, the navigation working fine without any memory problems.
Is it possible to change the language of this rom? I need Polish.
I've tried to use AsusWM6Patch but no luck (Actual language: Unknown).
Maybe some HEX hack?
BTW: Great work Steven855. Thanks.

There's no easy way to change the language of a rom. You have to take an existing rom, extract its contents, change what you need, and then package it up again so it (fits and) can be successfully flashed. If someone is willing to tell me how to flash a rom with a language different than the default language, PLEASE TELL ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The big thing right now with all the international roms is trying to flash them so I can test them. Once this is (finally) solved, I can continue working on the international releases. I would try AsuWM6Patch, but it seems to be geared towards flashing with the supplied program and not the SD flasher method that I have been using to test my roms.

Well I don't understand why you say it's so complicated. My friend bought Asus A696. But that was WWE version (Windows Mobile 6 Classic). I've dump rom from my A696 (POL version) a then reflashed his PDA. So it's possible and quite easy.
Here you can read more about it (google translator version).

One more thing. You can use modified version of Upgrade Tool. Now it's easy to upgrade even if the rom file is older then the orginal or in different language.

Thank you for the resources. I will definitely look into the second entry. As for the 1st version with usbloader, I run Windows 7 and have tried the usbloader method, but it never works for me. I haven't been using the Upgrade tool because I'm afraid of permanently bricking my A626 (I bricked it once before, and getting it fixed was a pain) and I know that the SD flasher method works with no problems (as long as the power is on; never try to flash roms during a thunderstorm). By the way, where did you find the modified upgrade tool anyway?
i have been following your roms for a6x6, and i would like to thanks you for making them.
just one comment, i hope you finish or solve first the bugs in your previous versions before making a new one.

Like i've posted in the setup thread from Liquid, this setup is the best i've tried until now, the only one that make missing call an old history in fact
Another better than ever pola 100 nand / nand setup
Download rom (5.5 version - 6 doesn't work with polaris kernel) : Scoot CyanogenMod (RLS5.5) [16.03.2011] and put it on your sdcard in a directory named andboot (at the root level)
with atool download the latest 2.6.32 kernel, modify it as desired
flash your unlocked phone following this tutorial or use atool scripting ability
update needed : none
work : everything except camera !!!! very smooth and very reliable(no missed call for 1 week, that's a revolution) and not so bad battery life
finally, development kernel seems to be not so far from "ready to production" status, with even better nand stability
we're waiting rom update and next krazykilla's kernel with polaris support, for a better stability and ability tu put data on ext4 partition
Thank you to scooter, liquid nr2jt and all androidhtccrew for their tuff work
Nand is not perfect and run corruption sometime that crash your setup : use the nand startup "backup/restore" data ability after you have configured your rom and favorite applications, to avoid loss of everything : it will create a 256Mb image of nand memory in your SD card /andboot directory that you can restore later in case of crash.
you can increment this backup later if you are happy with future modification of your rom
TIPS : noticed that setup as it is is good enough, people at cyanogenmod know their business
- Tip 1 : in atool, you can try to increase advanced battery capacity to improve accuracy because N2jrt has noticed battery calculation is not good and there's a correction factor of 1.6 to apply (i put 1900 but you can increase to 2200 in theory)
- Tip 2 : you can download Roguetool from the market to overclock your phone
- Tip 3 : try the app named killerauto from the market, it does a very good job with very comprehensive settings to free your ram in real time (and increase battery life)
- Tip 4 : In cynogenmod parameters/performance : check the "keep home in memory option" and activate compcache (10%) to get better result - i don't activate JIT
- Tip 5 : i've noticed that's the battery widget is cause of some trouble sometime, you can get rid of it in this case
what's next
- make polaris' atool development kernel compatible with release 6 : thx to scooter and liquid by advance
- Make crazykilla kernel with ext4 support available for polaris (release from his #54 thread doesn't work for me) or maybe unified every kernel to get the best one
crazykilla's kernel is a usual kernel without the polaris support compiled, i don't know why the #54 version don't work and i can't test it anymore (my polaris has a toasted nand).

Blinking screen
I've tried it with my XDA Orbit II and all I get is the white blinking screen after running haret. It's written in the man that it takes a lot of time, so I left it and went to sleep When I woke up, the screen was still blinking the same way and had to remove the battery to reboot. WM booted fine, there were files system.img and data.img created on the microsdcard of the size of 300mb (I don't want to flash it on NAND as it is my first attempt to install new software on phone). I tried Froyo, now trying Eclair and after an hour it looks the same. What might be wrong? Should I try stable kernel or other setups?

i don't know such setup sorry, i work on nand only to get real speed
I don't want to try flashing on NAND until I find a setup that would satisfy me and work well as I would in practice lose the phone for some time while trying to make it work. So far I've succesfully installed this, but I can't make the PIN code work. I tried to disable it in WM in phone settings, but when I do it, it requires me to enter the PIN, and doesn't accept it, just as Android does :/ Does the PIN code problem occurs in NAND installation as well?
this setup is really not ready. i tried so many times and it always hangs and at the end you'd be reinstalling the system back. I'm sticking back to the Not-So-Super-Froyo setup and has since found it to be very very stable although no camera and no GPS working on it. Just a bit of tip to all those who try and occasionally reinstall, after you have found a good stable setup, install your basic favorite apps and games, then get reboot the phone, access the Android Boot Menu and choose Backup Data on the choices. The system will save your stable setup on an image file on your sdcard. So anytime you have a system crash, you can just choose to Restore Data from the Boot Menu. Saves you a lot of installation.

what kernel do you use ? i use liquid's 2.6.25 + kernel update
I finally follow your advise and came back to "not so super" and begin to use the "backup data" function...
The best setup so far
I've tried deactivating in WM, but that doesn't work as I've written above. I also tried to disable PIN using my friend's LG AT&T and it didn't work either so I guess I have to try some PC software or go to my service provider and ask them to do it. Thanks for replies.

yeah that's why i try other roms today (i'm in a rom rush ) to see if situation is better with backup trick
i saw the great nr2jt say in a topic that he save is data every morning to prevent its loss
that's why i give another try with scoot 5.5 with liquid's 2.6.32
Hey liquid do something for us to use 6 release
post 1 updated
After numerous builds+kernels, loads of frustration (and the inevitable revert to wm for a while) I think I like this setup. Simplicity at its best, Scoot CyanogenMod (RLS5.5) and latest 2.6.32 from atools as per 1st post. Just re-purposed the camera button as 'home'. Even my headset works, albeit intermittently.
Which settings for ATools for pola200?
Hi,
i tried to install this rom on my german pola200. But on the Linux Bootscreen the text is scrolling down and sayes that it installs the rom. But than it scrolls down error messages.
I tried this for houres but it shows no final error or something. The Text is scrolling on and on.
So i think that i used the wrong settings in atool. I used this tutorial to set up atool: http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/androidhtc/wiki/HowToInstallWithAtoolsNand
What settings should been used?:
- What version to select?: Donut, Eclair or Froyo?
- Best settings for sd-card-partition? I used first partition 3 gb fat32, second partition 1 gb ext2.
- where should i install system and data? Both on second sd-partition? Or should there be a third partition? (the first time i tried to install the system on intern memory but install runs out of space)
Can you please explain the right settings in atool?
best version is froyo.
to choose sd-card partition, you must have your sdcard PREPARED beforehand. Atool does not partition your sdcard for you. As of what to use to partition your sdcard you can search it at google. (im sorry im a little bit short on time now). choose NAND on both system and DATA.
atools has sd partioner inside so you can repart sd card (boot script editor Y), but the sdcard must have only one partition on it (fat32).
i stand corrected thanks l1qu1d.
Thanks to kiodo1981 for bringing this to us so quickly

you will also need to have done a U-BOOT-NAND upgrade at some stage.. and need to be showing at least uboot - 0.6.1.5 (587) at bootup at the right hand bottom of our screen.. if you dont have this then you will need to do it..
1: Here's a new link by Smarkies that has a great pictural step by step flash guide

CONFIRMED #3925 2.2 v2.1 bootable sd install. One step process. Great job!
(for those wondering I have 6.1.5 (559) uboot so any at that or later should be allright)
EDIT: IF you have at least 6.1.5 (559[or higher]) showing on the Infotmic screen when booting you should be able to 1) download the .img file at the link above, 2) burn the .img file to an sd card using win32diskimager (or winhex), and 3) insert the sd card into slot between 2 usb ports while booting to update to 2.2 v2.1.
PS Not only does camera still work clearly for me on 559, camcorder records now.

3: Ramdisk work around

read posts from about 55-58 on Smarkies, why it is a good idea to re-flash the ramdisk
other versions if you have no success with the one above....
here's a link to the files you need.. iuw1.1-english

plus instructions..
http://www.fileserve.com/file/6Hn9ytR
Use IUW to make a bootable sdcard.. this is first version.. still stable, it is posted for those that dont want to go straight in to flashing a unwrapped image file.. if you use the instructions you should be able to just dump/flash this to your usual bootable sdcard.. stick it in the top slot and it will upgrade to this version.. no usb needed.. (note.. you will still have needed to have upgraded your "u-boot" at some stage... read further down for this..

Working and rooted.
I installed #3656 first and skipped the UO file when installing this and everything worked great. I installed the newest UO 0.6.1.5 () too and root seems to work after that too.
What I really like with this release is that swedish language is included (was missing in all updates after 1623) and ofcourse that it's Froyo!
To get Titanium Backup to work you will have to copy your old TitaniumBackup folder from the SD card to the new created when you installed TitaniumBackup, after that TitaniumBackup will find all your backuped apps.
It seems like both Flytouch2 and Flytouch3 are at version #3925, maybe the are compiling new versions for both pads at the same time now, so we can count on a new version when Flytouch3 gets one?

Bugs so far.. will update as the forum grows so that we have a reference page at the front.. saves a lot of reading later if this grows too much..
Please report your bugs and we can get people to work out fix's for you..
1: Ndrive does not work in this version
2: Small amount of people experience has Wifi connection/dropout problems - yet to find a fix..
Also no confirmed tests on Ethernet connections as yet - will confirm once we get some feed back - I am in Singapore airport and wasn't able to use the the Ethernet plugin for net.. so will check it out over the next few days as I will be in different Hotels so can test connections on the road
3: No apps2sd --- hope some one smarts finds a work around.. it would be killer if we could redirect some of the apps to see the SD1
A note on this...
in 2.2 V1.8 the file structure is sdcard local ram storage.... and ... SD1 - sdcard storage.. and SD2 -
in 2.2 V2.1 file structure is Local ram storage... and SDcard 1 and 2
both are locked in to using the local partitions for program storage and program data storage..
Which is a shame as things like ebooks and heavy graphic programs it would be nice to send the storage to SD1 or 2
This is fixed.. look at Smarkies thread for work around..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074251
4: Synchronization contacts and google calendar - Mixed bag on this one.. some get it some don't...might be a cache thing..
Fix once again provided by Barsuk .. check posts from Capeschae and Barsuk for fix.. they are from posts 121 pg13 - 126 pg 13
5: Paid Market apps - This is because of the China location block from Google more on it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551929&page=3
there seems to be a fix thanks to Barsuk..
Problems with market. Not all applications are available. Workaround: clear data for Google Services Framwork then force stop it then reboot tablet.]

Yes..I had that problem too..as tried to set a cache Linux as well..had a God arwful time with it..I think it is something to do with how they have setup the drives for the internal ram on the pad..
Hopefully one of the guru's will grab this then work out how we can get real apps2sd..then we will be laughing..

I installed this official Froyo too. It's very, very fast, more than all the different firmware tested from here!
Some remarks/questions:
- The camera is not working anymore, the preview screen shows green or sometime other colors...
- A lot of apps are pre-installed, meaning that it is impossible to update them (Dolphin Browser, Skype, Facebook etc...)
- Is it possible to install Flash Player on it? Will it work? Does anybody tried?
- Is it possible to overclock the Flytouch2 with this rom? Is the kernel overclockable?
Thanks,
Tuc

@Asiaa -- use IUW to make a bootable SDcard for the 2.2 1_8 version
http://wwe10b_android_2_2_v1_8_u0m_gt2005.rar/
After installed 2.2 v2.1 #3925 I found two bugs
- The camera does not work properly. I fixed the camera by replacing u-boot-nand.bin. Currently I have version 0.6.1.2 (587)
- Failure to sync contacts and calendar.
Market and Google Maps in this version work properly.

Hello,
Thank you for answering me. It is true that by dhcp works perfectly, but prefer to solve the problem and leave it in static. Anyway with this solution, I better to work with the epad and already ire sought a way to fix it.
A greeting and thank you
After trying a few flash websites, I noticed that Flash Player is ON BOARD in this Froyo ROM!
But colors are something between colored and black&white...and crash in fullscreen mode.
The colors issue has been fixed on the new Flytouch (512Mb RAM) - the following quotation from Androidtablets.net explains how to proceed:
Flash Player issues RESOLVED - new flash player .apk
I have tested this on my ft2v2 with TCH rom 0419, and it mostly worked! Flash now played with correct colours and almost no lag once buffered. It did however crash when I attempted to go full screen, so not perfect yet. Opera mini and Maxthon Browser use the youtube app for youtube website if you have it installed. This works excelently. Flash worked well on other flash websites, I tried an emag site and it loaded where it would not before.
Here is the new apk: Adobe flash for flytouch3.rar (Thanks koti)
Password: koti
Install:
1) use Root Explorer to rename file \system\app\install-flash-player.apk to .old
2) Reboot Flytouch
3) Install the above .apk
I tried youtube and also some eMag sites.
NOTE: This is now included in Tim's ROMS 3b and 3c.
NJoy!

I tried to find the file \system\app\install-flash-player.apk but it doesn't exist in our 256Mb Flytouch...so I directly installed the new Flash Player from the link above but nothing changed with the Flash videos colors, even after a restart.
Does anyone know how to properly install this new version of Flash Player???!!!

I rectified,
Still failing me the wifi. Automatically I hold a more function, but is still cutting. Before I had the firm 3245 and it worked fine. So I'm going to return to this firm.

Dear ModaAli,
Have tried many Custom Roms (cm7, cm9.... till cm11 and also SuperOSR), on my HTC Chacha. Most of the Roms work, few are good and few have some bugs. All the mentioned ROMS are better in many aspects comparing to Stock but are not optimal bugfree or features when compare to Stock.
Thus, after reading a lot (doing since last 1 and half a year), finally, tried and build a MOD of stock rom with the help of DSIXDA Kitchan.
Primary aim was Stock (and Sense) features plus internal space. With the above Modded Rom, till date, I,m happy of the output. If you wish can provide you the link to that ROM. You can PM me for that.
My Rom is based on Stock (with Sense) Rom :
RUU : India 1.20.720.1
Android Version: 2.3.3 (Gingerbread)
Kernel: 2.6.35.10
Language Support: English
And is ..
Rooted
Init.d support
Busybox
and presently using it with INT2EXT (by CronMod) mod on a 768MB ext2 type partition. Thus have ample space to run WhatsApp, Viber, WSP Office, Rom Manager, Battery Meter, Twitter, Facebook, FX file manager and few more apps. But still have 300+ Mb internal memory free (which is actually ext-sd swapped with INT2EXT)

Dear Swashie,
Will upload today and will provide you the google drive link (hope this kind of links are valid).
Regards,

Following is the link . . .
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8BfFAtUXk3iaUl0U0FpRUVXUm8/view?usp=sharing
Further, flash the above with CWM after Factory Reset, Clear Dalvik (I prefer formatting Boot, System, Data & ext-sd before flashing any rom for best results). Let it boot once. Then partition and format your ext-sd with your choice of size (mine is 768MB) to ext2 type system. Then reboot and flash the INT2EXT.zip by CronMod. This will enable internal memory to the size of partition you have chosen.
Revert for any help and will try to provide the best what I can.
Regards,
Ricky.
My friend has aChaCha with 2.5.3 version or something similar. Which ROM should i update to which would be stable for a normal user and maintenance free.

I tried several custom ROMs. One of the best concerning battery and memory usage was SuperOSR 2.5, but it's only Android 2.x.
For Android 4 i prefered CM 10.1 since you don't have much RAM with CM11.
However I changed back to the standard ROM now since I bought the Chacha because of its keyboard, and none of the custom ROMs had a good keyboard support. There even where problems when using the keys for dialing, re-dialing, entering numbers during a call, searching for apps in the list etc. Plus that you can't use your Facebook-Button (for flashlight in my case).
I don't even miss Android 4 - it seems that all apps I need are available for 2.3.5 so far. Latest apps will have problems with this screen anyway.

So is there a way to use this with sd card? I formatted ext2 has primary should I have made it a logical drive instead also have 100mb linux swap I think it's logical.
Also unrelated to the above is there any way to update to play store and play services to use hangouts or is 2.3 android stuck without play services? it downloads but says its not able to install. I said unrelated but maybe it is related to me using the ext2 as primary instead of logical...
BT carkit call problem...

I can pair devices, sync contacts, make a call but after that I hear only some noise.
Is there any fix or workaround?
