Is it possible to add a 5 or 10 second menu to auto reboot the opening of recovery in any version cwm twrp etc.
Reason:
Right now I am using unofficial AOKP milestone 6 rom
Every time I reboot it goes automatically back to recovery and I know why it does but if we were to add a menu to the opening of our recovery where we had to hit a button within the first 5 or 10 seconds or recovery would auto reboot system for us.
If we did hit a button within the time frame given wala we are greeted with the current 1st page of recovery main menu.
This way a reboot true reboot only would take a while but would be completely automatic and not need me to hit reboot system now in recovery in order to complete it.
Would this be possible or any other such work around to make a true reboot work without manual intervention.
Thanks

Rooted inspire last nite.Tried getting into recovery mode to put theme on but cant move down on volume key. it automatically goes to h boot and asks me for an update .i press down volume key for no and phone reboots . how do i get into recovery mode. Thanx
Wrong way to ask questions.
Boot the phone up and delete the zip from your SD card that the hack process left behind. If your phone doesn't see it, it will let you select recovery.

To answer - you still have a PD98IMG.zip file on your SD card. As long as this is there, bootloader will always try to automatically update with this file through HBoot. You need to remove this file from the SD card and you'll be able to boot to recovery
thanx. Now i have more problems and thesae are major. i have posted in general section., thanx for all the help thus far))

- Tap on Volume down key until "wipe data/factory reset" is highlighted, and tap Power button. Another Confirmation screen will come. Tap on Volume down key until coming to Yes and tap Power button

Nice just got my atrix 2 in so now it is on to rooting.....
I have downloaded the free 10 EA games that are a part of atrix 2 package. If I hard reset, the installed games will get uninstalled. Will I be able to download them again? I mean, I have already used the "right" to download 10 games.

You should have the apk files on your sdcard.. so as long as you don't format the sdcard or have a backup of what you downloaded, you can just install all games again.. and no you cannot download any game from redemption app again..

[email protected] Ritvik & Ravi, though this post deviates from the original subject of the thread and as per the community forum rules ideally belongs in themes & apps section, just a quote from another thread where I posted as follows - "Just to share a small experience, When was on unrooted stock GB had done a factory reset and had saved the earlier 10 redeemed apks & then when checked the EA redemption app got later, got 10 more games additionally like BFBC2, Madden NFL 12, Tiger Woods 12 etc. Also yet showed in minus (-) games for additional downloads & now after updating to ICS the EA app exists but get message "your device is not supported by this app" which is fine as got more than bargained for.
Hope this helps in any way to your question and if you have any other query further in this regard PM me else I may get pulled up for unwanted posts :-x

fxz back to stock using rsd lite...
Download stock firmware for your phone and flash it using RSD lite... you will be fine...
Hey everyone, so it's been a couple of weeks now since the power button on my Nexus S stopped working. It wasn't much of an issue since I began using the volume controls instead to wake up my screen. However, I'm stuck right now. I was pleased to see that in clockworkmod, you didn't need to use the power button to select anymore...so I went ahead and flashed a rom. The problem is, I completely forgot to flash gapps so now I can't get into recovery mode in order to flash it since my power button is broken. I got into recovery mode by using the Rom Manager app but since I don't have gapps flashed, I don't have the android market. Could someone please help me, I'm not sure of another alternative to get into the bootloader without using the power button. Thanks in advance

I've always had bad luck with adb but I'll still give it a try. Does my device need to be turned off before I enter the command? It's hard to turn off my phone since the power button isn't working, and when taking out the battery and putting it back in doesn't help since the phone just boots up automatically.

I do not know where to post this besides here. I have a SPRINT Nexus S 4G phone with stock Ice Cream Sandwhich. Never rooted or touched bootloader or anything of that sort.
After updating to ICS via OTA.. the phone loves to randomly reboot itself whenever it feels like. Annoying but I could live with it. Anyways I take my phone out of my pocket today and it is turned off... annoyed I turn it back on.. google logo.. animated squares... and then stuck at squares...(Bootloader shows locked etc, recovery does nothing)(I have to pull battery to reboot phone... back to squares though) I understand I will lose data if I have to wipe the phone.. but it looks like I am not going to be able to back up any of my phone numbers.. precious pictures or music? I do not have insurance through Sprint.
Whats the next logical step to fixing this?
EDIT: Bootloader information
Product Name - Herring
HW VERSION - REV 34
BOOTLOADER VERSION - D720SPAKE1
BASEBAND VERSION - D720SPALC1
CARRIER INFO - SPA
SERIAL NUMBER - 33324E0247AF00EC
LOCK STATE - LOCKED
EDIT 2: Downloaded all of the files needed to reflash / stock ICS.. I already use PDANET so I don't need phone drivers.. my phone was in debug mode before it crashed. Plug it in.. get to the Triangle information icon..
"fastboot.exe flash boot boot.img"
< waiting for device >
Ideas? Or how do I properly do this by myself? One Click Stock cannot detect my phone
Ok follow this steps
1. Turn off your phone
2. Press and hold volume down and power button at the same time.
3. Youll see an android logo. Now tick your volume down to navigate to recovery select by pressing power button
4 in recovery use volume rockers also to navigate through options and power button also to select.
5. Now select wipe cache. I think stock recovery have wipe dalvik too. So wipe it too.
6. Reboot
If if your phone happens to reboot itself again after doing this steps. Repeat my procedure this time wipe your data you can select this also on stock recovery.and start from scratch. Dont worry your pictures , musics, videos and other stuffs on your sdcard will not be touch. It will just clear all your installed apps.

Ok. I have had the same problem on my Google Nexus S with the boot loop and also the random reboots. This is what I have done to fix this problem.
1. I download an automatic task killer and set it to like every 10 - 20min to clear running apps.
OR
2. Go to your recovery by going into fastboot mode going select recovery. Once in recovery, press the volume down. I hold both up and down and the power button together. You should come up with a menu that says reboot system now, apply update from sd card, wip data factory reset or wipe cache partition. Then navigate to the wipe data menu and select it. Hit yes and there you go. It worked for me. Reply and tell me if it worked for you. FYI, it should reboot by it self, if not just select reboot now and reboot it.
This morning I tried to install CyanogenMod 10.2 (stable) for my HTC One S. I followed the instructions over here:
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_ville
Things were going well, untill this part:
3 Boot to recovery mode on the device by holding With the device powered down, hold the Volume Down and Power buttons until HBOOT appears, then release the buttons. Navigate using the volume keys and select RECOVERY using the Power key..
4 Once the device boots into the ClockworkMod Recovery, use the physical volume buttons to move up and down. On most devices, the power button is used to confirm your selection, although for some devices the power button is used as a "back" button to go up one level, in which case the home button is used to confirm the selection.
First I had issues with the recovery mode. I got the red exclamation mark/triangle, meaning my HTC was in stock recovery mode. After following these instructions: theandroidroot.com/how-to-install-clockworkmod-custom-recovery-on-htc-one/
I succeeded (with the 6.0.4.6 version of this site: clockworkmod.com/rommanager])
I was also able to get to the CWM recovery mode, but when I tried to install zip from sdcard, the error appeared that sdcard0 was not mounted.
Fastboot is still working, but when I try to copy the zip file again with ADB I get the message that device is not found. With command ADB devices, the attached device list that is returned is empty.
I'm stuck now. I cannot copy the zip file with the ROM to my phone and again I'm having problems to get to CWM recovery mode (phone is in a boot loop with the HTC logo and the red text below when I start recovery mode from HBOOT). What do you recommend?
Just hold the power button for 10 sec and your phone will turn off. Then try again to get in recovery again with power+vol down.

Unfortunately that's not helping. I'm getting the screen with HTC logo and following red text:
This build is for development purposes only Do not distribut oustide of HTC without HTC's written permission etc.
After a while, screen turns black. I can go to fastboot/Hboot, but these are my only options apparently.
Hi, I had the same issue in hboot 2.16 because of recovery version (Unable to mount sdcard/adb didn't work and more issues)
Fixed it using openrecovery-twrp-2.6.1.0-ville
Try different versions of CWM/TWRP
Check the forum!!
There is a threat how to flash RUU via fastboot....but be careful if you don not want to brick your device.I'm pretty sure that your problem is well describe somewhere.

Thanks for your replies. Eventually I fixed it (with TWRP) and some searches through this forum. I had to erase all my data, but in the end the internal storage was available again and I flashed the Cyanogenmod succesfully
Can someone report this thread to get moved to q&a. I can't do so on mobile
