Are you back on stock ROM also?

Yeah, I'm on stock. Just flashed root and TWRP 2.2 and after sometime decided to OTA update. Flashed everything stock, closed bootloader and got this error

You shouldn't relock bootloader. No need unless you're trying to get warrenty needs. You may have a bad flash. Try to redownload and flash recovery or try cwm see if you get same error.

Ok I'll try. Some offtopic: where I can find firmwares in .exe format? Server link. I know that there is XDA thread but last version is 1.70 there

You say you flash back to stock, how did you do that?
The T-mobile RUU work on your PC, did you use that to get back to stock?

[Q] What happens with root?

Hello XDA members
I was wondering, when the new android sandwich comes out, and you got a rooted and S-off HTC sensation. But not custom rom. What will happen to the root and S-off when you update to the new android sandwich?
Thanks
Want to know too ahehhe
We'll lose root but keep S-OFF I'd imagine
Cool, thanks for the answer
I have perm-rooted my Sensation and i was wondering when the new official update from HTC comes out will i be able to install it automatically like when i was not rooted or because i am S-Off it will not let me?
Thanks
i could be wrong but no you wont be able to perform an ota update. im only saying this because the last ota update failed because the update looks for the stock recovery in order to update the system. seeing that you are rooted i assume you have cwm installed and if this ota update does indeed look for the stock recovery than it will fail. the only way around this is to either instal a stock ruu and lose root or instal the stock recovery and again lose root. either way you are gonna lose root.
Could you give me a link where there is a guide to install the stock recovery?

If you check the development forum, there's a thread which has shipped roms in it. Flash one to restore stock recovery.

Depends. If you're just running the original rom which came on your phone but rooted, it should still allow ota updates, but you'll lose root (but keep s-off). If you're on a custom rom you won't receive an ota.
To OP, if you ran an ruu or ota of ice cream sandwich, as eddy says, you'll lose root but remain s-off. That said, a custom ics rom will probably come out weeks/months before an official HTC update
Well, when we got the RUU, we can extract and repack to our rooted ROM
It should be this if i am right ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559

That's true, but we'll see aosp ics roms long before we have sense skinned ones, as cyanogen et al don't need to spend months porting frameworks.

Yes I am running the stock rom so I will receive the pta update. I know that I will lose root in every scenario if I install the stock ROM one way or another.
Thanks.

So i just flash one of these roms, without deleting cache or doing a reset ?
not entirely true. i was rooted on stock rom when the last ota rolled out. i tried installing it but it failed. i did a lil search here and found a few people mentioned that it failed due to cwm and they also mentioned that you should try flashing back the stock recovery. i tried that and it installed successfully. easy way to get the stock recovery is to instal the correct ruu of your rom. but as we all know it wipes out everything off your phone. i did find this guide which the stigx has asked for (sorry buddy didnt see you there ) which shows you how to extracted the stock recovery off of the ruu and than flash it back to your phone.

But if I need to follow your guide i have to have the OTA update file,w hich haven't comet out yet. What do i Do? It seems so hard to remove root and custom recovery :'(
But thank for your answer !
well the general idea is to get your stock recovery back without losin your data. so really all you need to do is flash your stock recovery reboot your phone and check for updates. if updates are available: system>about phone>check for updates, download the update and install. it shouldnt fail cause you have stock recovery instead of cwm. in short just do the top part of the guide and skip the rest cause you dont have the updates file on your computer.
So if i do step 1-12 I will have normal phone? Just like I started or do i still keep root?
Thank you so much for your hep !

You can also use this software to install the stock recovery. that way you don't loose settings by installing RUU

yes you do 1-12 but you keep root. the only difference is that you will no longer have cwm for flashing, back up, and all other goodies. but once you run the ota and it installs you lose root.
but have a look at the link frederikh just posted. seems alot better than the current method. im reading over it now
Thanks for the answers!
I think i will go with the link frederikh gave me But God bless you Divine! Thank you for your help !

[Q] Any idea why I can't update my phone?

I'm not able to post links so I've had to attach the images instead:
I have an HTC One XL - which I believe is from HK (when i reset to default, everything is in Chinese and the time/date is HK)
Since getting it in December, I've not been able to do a single update.
The software update gives me
update.png
after which i get this
fail1.jpg
So I've tried to bypass that and downloaded the OTA 4.1 rom and trying to flash gives me this
fail2.jpg
I also tried to do the RUU install and that failed too.
Any ideas?
I can't see your photos, they are coming up blank for me. But are you completely stock, or do you have custom recovery? Is your bootloader unlocked?
Phone needs to have stock recovery to install OTAs.
Bootloader needs to be LOCKED or RELOCKED to run RUU.

I give up!
I couldn't get it to work, flashed CM10 and found it buggy, gone back to stock and still no updates.
I've tried to update the hboot by using the JBFWTOOL and nothing happens, tried doing it manually and it fails (failed <remote: 99 unknown fail>
There must be a way, but I can't find it :crying:

maybe:
- status 7 mean your TWRP or CWM not suitable with rom, need update newest version (happened to me, and after update CWM is ok.)
- make sure you phone unlocked bootloader already.
- your zip file is error during dowload, re-download.

I was under the impression that i needed to remove CWM...
bootloader is unlocked however if i try to open any of the zip files, they are corrupted, but it's the same wherever i download them from.
so should I put cwm back on and try updating again?

Unable to apply newest cricket OTA update

I have an unlocked bootloader and them routed, although I was unable to achieve s-off following any of the guides on this forum. When I try the OTA update, I get an error in CWM saying it was unable to flash the image and it was cancelled. I have tried it with signature verification enabled and disabled, with the same results.

The update to Jelly Bean i guess?
As long as you have cwm installed you will not be able to update. The OTA update is not for flashing in recovery!
You need stock boot.img, stock recovery and stock system partition to update.
Already on jb. Update 2.04.1050.5
I assume the same rules still apply, though?

OTA installation aborted
I have bought this phone a couple of months ago and rooted it and have clockworkmod recovery 6.0.3.2 installed. The phone is running good and i have not had problems. However, I see that there is an OTA update for the version 2.04.1050.5. I tried installing the 15 mb file and it told me to restart the phone. When it does, it takes me to the clockworkmod Recovery thing and tells me the installation is aborted? What do I do? Do I really need this update or can I go without? Also, is this the update for the 4.2.2 Jelly Bean?
Any help is appreciated.

that tiny update cab be accepted if you haven't deleted or modified ahh of the system.
if your s-on then you have to relock your bootloader
but first of all you need to flash the stock boot.img and stock recovery.img

Can't get back to stock

Hello, I have gone through the process of rooting and flashing ROMs and have decided that it is not my thing.

Thanks for the help, I did relock the bootloader but afterwards I realized that I still had the kernel and baseband from the MaximusHD rom. The reason why I switched back is because my data speeds on 2G were 10X on that radio, now if it would be possible to flash the T-mobile radio (I need the file) and possibly ignore the kernel?
What forum should I have posted in?
Relock bootloader, be sure allso to have supercid (it is better) then go to fastboot mode and use latest ruu... Impossible to does't work if you do so...

Update to a newer CM11 to fix that.

after firmware update + flash update ROM -> stuck in HBOOT

Edit: FIXED
I downloaded the stock rooted 4.4.4 ROM and pulled the stock kernel out of it. Flashed the stock boot.img in fastboot and ALL GOOD.
Problem = phone cannot boot into ROM, cannot boot into recovery. Only HBOOT.
Was on a 4.4.3 ROM.
Got Verizon's OTA toast message today regarding 4.4.4 update available.
Cancelled that.
Hit up XDA to get latest Verizon firmware.
Downloaded latest firmware, flashed it.
Fine.
Downloaded 4.4.4 ROM.
Checked MD5 sum.
Into recovery.
Made nandroid backup/
Flashed ROM.
No errors.
Reboot? PHONE WILL ONLY BOOT INTO HBOOT.
Tried these fixes:

Not yet. I've never done that before actually, so I was hoping to find a solution that didn't involve doing something new. I read the thread but I'm not familiar with the process so didn't want to risk making new problems... you know?
So... fixed!
I downloaded the stock rooted 4.4.4 ROM ad pulled the stock kernel out of it.
Flashed the stock boot.img in fastboot and ALL GOOD.
Thanks for your help, bud. Cheers.

Didn't hurt, and I really appreciate the help. Sometimes people get so self-centered they won't bother to try to help anyone. Thanks for your time. Have a good one.
You too
I think I read yesterday that you were on viper rom 2.5 and upgraded to 3.whatever. The viper thread in the vzw forum is asking people to wait for them to release the next update to include vzw files from this ota. I feel it's worth pointing out in case other people run into problems, sees this thread, and immediately start bugging them in their thread.
