Virtuous infinity released! - HTC Desire S

Thought I should post here instead. Virtuous has released a full sense 4.0 ROM for the Desire S amongst other devices. For anyone wishing to try it out:

There are still a few kinks and WiFi hotspot still isn't working.

I'd be interested in user feed back as to the speed and fluidity of this ROM when compared to say fallout and then Endy?
As I won't have yet opportunity to try sort myself until the weekend

Camer and 3d games working? Is this better than ice ds?
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app

Camera and 3D games do work. It's slightly slow as compared to Fallout, since the One S has 1 GB RAM and we only have 768 MB. Killing apps via task manager solves the occasional lags. It uses the stock kernel 3.0 I recommend you switch to it as soon as you have time, it'll keep me off JB for a while

Just put it on the Mrs phone it seems to run well so far, the occasional slowdown but nothing to be too concerned about.

Camera and WiFi hotspots are the deal breaker for me.......
In all the Roms I tried the indoor photos doesn't come upto the actual 5Mp quality........ I mean with xperia x10 mini...... I got better pics ..... Don't kno y it show this much difference....... N many of ma friends mostly need my data to be shared......
How is the camera clarity of this Rom.....?? Does it come upto the stock one????

Are there any screen? I already have the Virtuous Saga V.1.0 Rom and I wonder how it looks like with Sense 4... Also because I've tried a couple of Sense 4.0 roms and I didn't like the appearance so much...

Running awesome on my Thrill! Thanx dev
So. Awesome.
Can't wait to check this out, it would be on my phone right now if the 3d camera worked (I like taking 3d pictures too much, LOL).

First feedback
Hi all,
This is my feedback after 3 hours test:
Globaly :
This rom is very fast, just change the default launcher by launcher pro or Go launcher. Everything work for daily usage.
3D:
You will have, after the installation 2 camera software (gingerbread stock) with exactly same name?. One is for video and other is for photo. camera quality is very poor, video and photo appear with green mask..
3D recording, photo and video, don't work for me.
No 3D games
No 3D gallery and other 3D LG stuff
you can play previously 3D video recorded with O3D with good quality but no 3D movies appear sidebyside and no way to change 3D format.
3D photo appear sidebyside.
Bluetooth :
A2DP don't work fine with my car, I can pair devise and play music but DSP application will crash and music stop playing sometime (and replay by self)
++
What the ****??
Moderators, please delete this thread. I'll open a proper one as soon as this goes away, it's a no-attribution copy of a post I made elsewhere.
pls delete this thread so arcee can create one and then i can ask a question
Ive doesnt use my O3D since 1 month, cause i only waited for custom Roms. Just got tired of stock Rom. I cant wait to come Home and test it. ;-)
Sorry for my bad english...

Which ROM Performs Better?

Hello Fellas, i wanna know wich ROM performs better in GAMES, the HO!NO!, the Ice&Fire, The FroyoMOD or Plain Cyanogen 7 ???
All those one, or any other that you know, in their latests versions of course
hope you can help me with that, Cheers
In my opinion 2.1 roms are the best for games and multitasking. Exept they have 30 fps cap. After them the froyo roms.

Once you go FM you don't look back.
How about Cronos?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1252344
In my opinion, FroyoMOD by Luca is the best, stable, with many features and really fast!
that's right. FroyoMod is the best for milestone
Test one ROM each day, and make your own opinnion. I found CM7 the best, as kalbadan does a very good job, and updates the ROM very often.
to me, plain CM7 by kabaldan is the way. Standard, clean and well mantained. Obviously, it's good if you use your phone as a smartphone. If your primary intent is playing games, Froyo is a better choice
Why exactly Froyo is better than CM7 in games? I've played many games, of course there were some FCs, but generally I managed to play NFS Shift fluently, for example. I use Chainfire, as it helps many games to start.

There is much more free RAM in Froyo, as apposed to CM7 (Gingerbread).

Its rocking!
Unfortunately its no longer part of XDA bkz of some technical & legal problems
Sticked with CM7 supported by kabaldan.
+1 for CM7
I used MIUI us, MIUIandroid, MIUI Galnet, CM6, FroyoMod, CM7 and stock.
The best CM7.
I've tried CM7, MIUI and others but Telus Lite is the best. Light-weight and super stable, it's quite snappy as long as you don't use too heavy apps. And it looks good.
I vote for HO! NO! 7.1.5 . Finally a great stable fully working ROM. Before I be used MIUI and I had stability issues.

Telus lite is by far the best rom for the milestone. When i had it i had around 90mb of free ram. Only downside is that there is no flash as it is 2.1
I tried to port the new gmsil client, flash etc but fwiled since the laws of android api wont allow it :L

I was going to say latest HoNo, but wifi connection doesnt work, which is a huge negative....

So its between telus lite and HONO. How much free RAM on both? Which one is over clocked? I Don't prefer overcklocking.

[Q] Is the performance of ICS ROMs slow for everyone else too?

I have tried a couple of AOSP-like ICS ROMs (HyperNonSense, Virtuous Inquisition 4.0) and I am not very happy with the performance. Pressing the back button often causes a small stutter or lag, and browsing (although fast) has lag on occasion or stutters.
It is not that the experience is 'bad', but it is not as fluid and fast as one would expect it to be from a dual-core phone with the kind of specs included within.
To give you a better idea, my Samsung Galaxy S (i9000), running the BlueLighting ROM (ICS 4.0.3) with a 'mild' OC to 1.2 GhZ runs buttery smooth, and beats my Sensation XE (ICS 4.0.3, tested at 1.2 GhZ 'underclock, 1.5 Ghz 'stock' and 1.7 Ghz 'OC') every time and in every situation: Browsing pictures, using stock browser, browsing applications, contacts, pressing the back button etc.
Why does a phone with a single-core CPU, clocked lower, and what seems to be inferior specs outperform a phone that should be doing much better?
I love AOSP experience, and I would ideally avoid any Sense-ROMs (although Sense-lite are ok, I suppose).
Can anyone tell me what their mileage is, with which ICS ROM, and whether you think there is a ROM I should try?
Thanks!
I also had the Virtous Inquisition Rom on my Sensation and i have to say it works very well.
Maybe you have to try another aosp rom like the Cyanogen mod9 from ultimate sensation,it also works very good for me
Thanks I will give it a try and let you know!
Also, can anyone suggest a good ICS kernel? I have had trouble finding a stable kernel. Some can work fine at speeds above 1.6GhZ, but some will not even boot -- perhaps they are not for ICS. I will have to look around. I am surprised there is (no offence!) little variety and option on offer in regards to kernels -- particularly for those interested in the more exotic CPU profiles.
I have also used both Hyper NonSense (1.5 currently, no longer being developed but is stable) and early Virtuous Inquisition releases. For me, both were quite fast - Hyper NonSense more so, but I haven't used a recent release of VI. In both cases, I stuck with the stock kernel distributed with the ROM.
FWIW, Hyper NonSense has also been giving me EXCELLENT battery life. It's a shame to see development stop on it.

QuickSnap -best camera app on my opinion

Hi guys
I've been using this since being on Froyo and now on ICS MIUI.
Why is it so good? Simple :
Plain, camera only app (no camcorder, no effects), set to infinite focus it's the fastest, yet reasonable result camera. Only by using it can I catch my son running around.
QuickSnap

excellent contribution by friend
Feel like bumping this
I tested this and didn't find it to be any faster than stock ICS camera.
if you set focus to infinity it is the fastest i've witnessed, plus it's small size.

is it only me or everyone? (lag in most games)

i usually feel lag in most of the 3d games like MC3 Fallen nation, nova 2,3 , asphalt 7 bla bla bla,,, and when i see videos on youtube running the same games with neo v , arc, desire HD, they look a lot smoother ,,
why does it lag on my desire s????
are you running stock Rom with sense? It was one of the reasons I rooted mine, solved the lag issue straight away.

Well if you're running the rom that's in your signature it's no surprise considering it's using the cm9 kernel which is still in alpha stages. You're not going to get the same performance on a rom that doesn't have the best drivers and optimized kernel compared to the stock gingerbread or stock sense ICS roms such as the incredible s rom that was ported over using our ICS 3.0 sense kernel. If you're using the stock rom then it could be that you're nearly full on memory or you have to many apps running. Those games are really resource heavy games and the desire s is only a 1ghz single core device. In today's standards that's becoming quite poor. But the games shouldn't be lagging too much. You're going to get lag on nova 3 and asphalt 7 because they are brand new so they will be optimized for dual core devices on ICS

I'm running asphalt 7 and nova 3 with no lag whatsoever, ok I'm oc but only to 1250. Don't know why they would lag, only thing I can think of is the sense elements taking ram

I must of installed over 20 different roms when I had my desire and I didn't find one that was as "smooth" as the stock rom. Maybe a little bit quicker but not as smooth. I think the main problem could be someones view on what they think is laggy and what they think isn't. There are people out there who think anything less than 50fps is laggy which is ridiculously smooth or people like me who think anything less than about 25fps is laggy. It would help if the Op replied to this thread to let us know what rom he is running
Im running project X
4.0 sense 4 rom. Before i was running ice cold sandwich ,but that was scary ,bcoz my device all ways frozed during running heavy games.

Currently I'm running codename, and before this blindIce, Blindbean and Reaper. I've avoided all sense Roms like the plague. No offense to the devs just don't like sense anymore.

at the moment video playback forces restart, but is still only a test port, blindndumb will probably look at it after he's sorted out to build from source
