Yeah, that phone ain't gonna work on Verizon' LTE, AT&T's LTE or Sprint's LTE. The LTE baseband chip (CM221) is tuned to 800Mhz and 1800Mhz only for Korean market.
If it's unlocked, you'll be able to get on AT&T's HSPA network, and that's about it.

Once Sprint rolls out LTE on 800Mhz, you could.

just wait till 2014-2015...

loll, ya if i cant get it to work the id just sell it, by 2014 there will be a bunch more phones out Thanks for the input guys

In short there's no way to get LTE on a korean S3 to work here in the states, you can't change the frequency bands that the phone has if its actually disabled/not included in the hardware, Korean LTE as said is 800/1800 none of the US Carriers use it, and even if Sprint were to rollout 800 today, Sprint doesnt allow foreign ESNs on their network unless ur carrier has a roaming agreement with them...so ya you're best bet is to sell it and get another variant.

[Q] Accidently bought Nexus S i9020A but got T-Mobile

I just bought the i9020A model Nexus S, and after research I found out that its meant to be used for ATT. I have T-Mobile and I am not getting 3G Network because the bands are different. Now people are telling me that if I unlock/root it, I might be able to get T-Mobile bands. Is this true?

Nope - it does not have the hardware to support the AWS HSPA frequencies. It has quad band GSM (So you'll get Edge service fine), but not HSPA.

=[ ok so I shouldn't waste the time rooting/unlocking my phone then. I am getting Edge just fine but no 3G at all. I'm just going to but the T-Mobile version then and send this back.. Thanks for the reply

[Q] Verizon Razr Maxx HD LTE in Canada?

Hi Guys,
So I got a new Razr HD from Verizon, and took it to Canada where I live. I travel a lot from the USA to Canada. The phone specs seem to indicate that it has all the bands necessary to support all the GSM and LTE bands as well as CDMA when in the states. I was able to easily get 3G/H+ service from Rogers in Canada by simply changing the Network Mode to GSM/UMTS instead of Global and then adding an APN for Rogers. However, I cannot get LTE service. The LTE choice seems to be bundled with CDMA LTE/CDMA but I don't think that matters, I think its just a radio choice. However, when selecting this, I get an error from the phone saying "No LTE networks could be found" and Do I want to switch to GSM?
This is sad because the phone would be excellent on LTE. Does anyone know how to get a Verizon branded phone to run on Rogers LTE?
If you have any ideas let me know, I will test them.
Thanks,
Blue

Short answer, you can't. Different LTE bands. Rogers is 4 and 17, Verizon is 1, 3, 5, 13, 25. No overlap, and no-one currently makes LTE hardware that supports ALL LTE bands.

Just wanted to add to this... I tested my Samsung Galaxy S3, a generic version that I got from Amazon, works on AT&T in the USA on LTE and in ROGERS in Canada. Too bad the Verizon Droid does not support a similar global LTE band. Or does AT&T and Rogers simply have the same LTE bands???

Yes, AT&T and Rogers have maintained the same bands since they were partnered maybe 10 years ago. Fido is owned by Rogers, so it also uses the same, from GSM up to LTE.
Neither AT&T or Verizon use "global" LTE bands, because there aren't any. Almost every country/provider uses different bands. There's some crossover, but with LTE, buy a phone for the market you are in, because you probably couldn't afford the roaming rates abroad anyway.
Hey guys, I think I have a related question.. maybe you guys can help
I live in Toronto and Rogers is my wireless carrier. From my understanding, Rogers operates on band 4 (1700 / 2100 mhz) as well as 2600 Mhz.
I am thinking of gettnig the new DROID MAXX from Verizon. I have tried asking the Verizon / Motorola reps about whether the LTE would work in Canada but wasn't able to get a firm answer.
From the Motorola website, however, as well as from gsmarena.com, it looks like the DROID MAXX will have access to not only LTE 700mhz, but also at 1700 and 2100 mhz.
What are the chances that this phone will work on Rogers LTE?
Really hoping it could work out... let me know if you guys have any ideas..

It's not a worst thing though. I got this one for only 100$ off craiglist and it works just fine. It just does not work right with a data, remind me of few years back when 2g was a fastest data service lol. Thanks again for let me know this issue.
AT&T runs on GSM band while Verizon runs on a CDMA network. I'm surprised your SIM even works. What other said is correct though, you are restricted to the slow 2G Edge speeds.

Well the S3 is a World phone, hence it comes with GSM bands too! if you hit Europe or Asia you will get 3G

Right it does. But they use different bands in other countries. Our phone isn't capable of using any and all bands. Only certain ones. If somehow these bands were unlocked, then you could get 3g here.

[Q] Will the Verizon HTC ONE M8 works on AT&T?

Hi there,
I just got my verizon htc one m8 but I was wondering will this phone works with at&t sim card? Can I receive AT&T 4G LTE signals?
Any helps are welcomed.
Thanks in advance.
No, the verizon m8 runs on the CDMA network whereas the ATT m8 runs on GSM. Sorry man

Wrong... It does have GSM to fallback on but you will only get HSPA+ at best. No LTE

As far as I'm aware, HSPA+ is just a slightly faster 3G.

HSPA+ is about 4-10mbps download in my area versus about 1mbps down with 3g.

Wow really? I used to get anywhere from 1-3 mbps with 3G on Verizon, versus 4-6 with HSPA+ on AT&T.

All in where ya live I guess and which provider you have. Sometimes my HSPA+ is quicker than my T-Mobile Lte...
I'm thinking about using an upgrade on a flip phone I have on Verizon to get this phone.
How hard would it be to get it to work on Straight Talk and since they use AT&T's network, would I be able to get HSPA+ too?
Thanks in advance!

hspa and hspa+
hspa is 3g 850mhz 1.5mbps tops and hspa+ is "4g" 1900mhz 5-20mpbs tops which is really like a 3.9g theres a story behind this but im only answering the question which is which so pretty much this device is ready for either bands just check who's got those bands and you are ready to go ohh by the way no LTE if it isnt with verizon peace im out im batmaaaaaaaaaaaaan!
Because Verizon’s 4G LTE devices use SIM cards, that means many of them (the global-ready ones, anyway) are compatible with the regular 3G/2G GSM bands used everywhere else in the world (no LTE, however). When traveling, simply pop in a prepaid SIM card, configure the APN settings with the network you’ll be using the phone on, and boom. You’re up and running on 3G. Same goes for AT&T in the US (again, no LTE because of incompatible bands).
It does get AT&T LTE, I have a GoPhone account with AT&T and get LTE with my M8. Only in some areas, get about 70% hspa, and LTE the rest, just depends on your location and the AT&T LTE bands used in your area, but the M8 does get LTE

No LTE?

I am using the phone on a T-Mobile network. For the APN I have the IPv6 setting, for some reason the icon next to the signal bars is only H+ not LTE. Was wondering if that was just me? If is just me is there a way to get LTE? I know that this phone support LTE.
Thanks.
which model is it? (D68xx..) might not support the LTE bands that T-mobile has
which area are you located in? perhaps your area doesn't have/weak LTE signal

Indeed. Also of note, Tmo LTE only works on a more recent SIM. I tried a cut down 5 year old SIM and no LTE.
Thanks for the info!
I'll admit that I didn't do proper research prior to buying the unlocked device. After reading more into T-Mobile bands, they said that by the end of this year they will be releasing band 2 which is the 700mhz. Since this model supports that I'm guessing I can get lte?
Please clarify this for me. Thanks.
