Google Apps on custom ROM - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so I'm having trouble understanding how to get google apps on some of the custom ROMS. I understand how to flash the zip but all the forms keep saying get the apps from your rom manager. The Tab 2 doesnt have a "supported verision" and can not find at all how to get the zip file. Little help anyone?

I don't think there is a difference between Google apps on a device basis, but you can try and go to http://goo.im/gapps and download for CyanogenMod 9.0.x

Flashing via clockwork didnt work for me. you need to download all the apps individually from the market or restore them via titanium back up.
I download them from market.

These are the gapps for CM7. I thought I remembered reading that gapps are NOT compatible across different ROMs....wrong?
As long as market is there you can get to everything else at least.

gapps are gapps. its not restricted to any ROM. but most ROMs do consist of those gapps so its not needed to flash gapps separately.

Gapps not appearing

I've searched up the forums and I did not get the solutions I sought.
My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Mini ST-5570, running on CM10 27 August nightly build. When I attempted to flash gapps, Play Store didn't appear at all, no matter which one I flashed (2 August-signed or the one by KonstaT). In the apps list (manage apps), Play Store wasn't even there. Is there a way to fix this problem such that when I flash gapps it would appear?
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Try flashing another one. Make sure the one you flash is for your android version.
CM doesn't contain gapps, so, download the apk of play store, and copy to your sdcard, them, open with any explorer

This won't work because it needs to be installed as a system app.

That doesn't work, I've tried flashing 2 types of gapps and they both don't work.

Have you tried manually installing the apks?

Actually, I have just found out the root of this problem - my phone has "not enough space available", so I had to do all the "adb commands" to delete all my ringtones and unnecessary stuff -.- But the problem is, my internal phone space gets rather low recently.
I would love to try out the inverted gapps sometime. What is it actually?

Gapps is a package containing certain Google Apps (that what it means). Usually these apps are not found in the market (anymore). It also contains some Google framework files. That version may be smaller, containing only the essential stuff.
make 2 partitions in your sd card, them, install link2sd, after that, transfer some programs to sdcard, after that, install gapps in recovery mode:

CM10 questions

I'm thinking about installing CM10, but I have a couple of quick questions:
Does the latest build still have over clocking leading to "burnt NANDs"?
Which gapps zip do I need to install? Super stripped? (What if I install mounts2SD, can I get full gapps then?)
Have the force closes in the camera been fixed now?
Will mounts2SD work with CM10, allowing me to install as many apps as I want? And has anyone tried installing it with the Play Store app?
Thanks for any help.

Hi ya
How are you doing??
1. If you Flash with latest kernel ,which is not overclocked, it'll not probably produce burnt nand.
2.super stripped only
3. Full gapps is a total junk ~ they go to /system ~you can symlink them to app ~system in mount2SD. Big work
4. Camera AFAIK is totally unstable ~at least for me.. some say it's better etc. As always third party cams work fine (you can read my signature link to know more)
5. Ya.. it'll work. Mount2SD will let you install as many as you want as per size of SD ext ~however kernel 3 has problems mounting SD ext ~some partition types ~but once it works, it'll work for ever until you change recovery or change partitions
6. I am using the play store version. Working fine for me. I would've recommended play version for your stock Rom as well, if they released mount2SD @ that time

Awesome, thanks for your help. Here's hoping I manage not to completely mess up my phone haha.
u cn use the signed GAPSS, if you prefer....
You unzip the Stripped version, and the Signed GAPPS....
Copy everything from the SIGNED GAAPS that are ALREADY present in Stripped version... rest throw in trash..
RE-ZIP.... you got a SIGNED STRIPPED GAPPS...

USE the STRIPPED VERSION OF GAPPS!
INSTEAD of m2sd,use INT2EXT!! IT manages your data more efficiently!!
AND THE LATES cm10 beta#6 (oc 800Mhz) doesn't burn your NAND!! I TOO AM USING IT!!

[Completed] Trying to install gapps after fresh CyanogenMod install

Apologies for the ugly formatting - it seems I am unable to post normal links as a new user.
I successfully installed CM11 on my phone.
I am trying to add google apps. The recommended method given on the cyanogenmod wiki is to install open gapps.
However, I would much prefer to download directly from google if possible, so I can be confident that I know what is in the download. (I looked at the opengapps github page as well, but that seems to also contain a bunch of binary files of unknown source.)
So I tried visiting the google play store from my phone, and downloading from this URL "https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gms". I get the message "Congratulations! Google Play services will be installed on your device soon". Unfortunately, there is no sign of it in Settings/Apps. Rebooting my phone didn't help, and nor did checking 'Allow installation of apps from unknown sources' in Settings/Security.
Can anybody suggest what I might be missing here?

Hi
Thanks for using XDA Assist.
You have to flash a GApps package. Give a try to SlimGapps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=62585871&postcount=5251
The source code is available on Github.
Thanks for the suggestion, but it looks like it will just give me a different version of the same problem - I still can't download the apps myself. Surely there must be some way to do that?

Google Play services are included into GApps packages and you have nothing to download from Google Play to have a working device.
After flashing a rom you only have to flash Google Play and some libs/framework and they are included into all the GApps packages.
