Common problem phone shutting down in ARHD and Venom - HTC Sensation

Hi all.
I am facing a problem since i rooted my phone and installed ARHD XE on my NORMAL sensation.
Everything was fine for first 10 days after custom rom. Then suddenly one day the phone started to switch off and only after two or three reboots at the Htc screen does the phone successfully boots. This started to happen randomly.
Then i installed viper with all the default options at 1.5 mhz badass kernel and the problem has come back with the phone switching off. To sucesfully restart sometimes i need to remove the battery and reinsert.
I am on 3.32 radio with s-off and 4ext recovery.
Any suggestion would be highly appreciated.

I'm on ViperS from Venom since last 22 days...I had not faced any issue...
Try to re-install the ROM. Keep everything as default..and must follow the HBOOT & RADIO versions as provided by Venom(If u want to install ViperS then)
And do not change the Kernel..

Hi,
Is your battery loose in its casing?

Thats 3 of your posts that are useless and promote the team venom rom now, how much are they paying you again? STOP ADVERTISING AND PROMOTING OTHER ROM's.
If someone wants to use venom rom they will, if someone doesnt then its their choice so can you stop trying to promote that particular ROM please. People are perfectly capable of making their own minds up.

Have you checked to see if you're battery has a wiggle or is lose at all?v if it is you can reestablish contact by putting a small piece of paper in the bottom of battery to stop the movement . This establishes contact again and prevents the rebooting .if the battery is stable it is another issue. By any chance are you under volting the CPU? Sometimes that can also cause the issue? If none of these things are true perhaps try posting on the roms developers site. Perhaps it's a issue and the developer or other users know of a fix . Hope this helps .

You might have a bad battery.

Thank you everyone for your inputs.
I have reflashed Venom with all the default settings and have crossed my fingers !!!
I doubt this relates to battery since only after installing custom roms this has started to happen. Before that i had used this phone as completely stock for a year and never faced this problem.
Thanks everyone again.

Andriod Revolution HD 3.6.0 random rebooting

My phone is randomly rebooting for no reason it did it twice yesterday and this morning when the alarm I set went off it rebooted but got stuck on the beats bootup screen I woke this morning my phone felt like a hot iron. Has anyone had the same issues with this rom?

You know what, the same thing been happening to me for the last 4 dayswhich means the version b4 3.6.0 was doing it too. Yesterday was the 3rd time it did it... maybe we should post this on the ARHD thread instead of here tho
I've been trying out different versions of Android Revolution HD and they both gave me the same results screen over heats the battery over heats and the phone reboots randomly. so i decided to try a different rom i installed
Virtuous Sensation XE v.2.1.0 this morning and so far my phone has been working great no problems yet. the battery stays cool the screen is not heating up and no rebooting as of yet so i think i'm sticking with this rom if you haven't tried it i recommend you do. Here's the thread.

Hi,
The usual reason for random reboots is an incompatible mod or add-on.
Also,if you have upgraded from an earlier ROM and not done a Superwipe.
Or maybe using Titanium Backup to restore "SYSTEM DATA" from an older ROM using a different base.
It's probably kernel related, try to lower your overclock to 1.2Ghz in Daemon Controller or try another kernel, if so try Unity, I did resolved my bootloops issue with those.
Don't forget to remove virtuous_oc files if you decide to change kernel. See attachment for exact file name.
Hello. I have the same problem when I'm hit the home button, restarts suddenly. Will be the same problem, about the software?. Or may be hardware... I'm so worry because is new (only one month of use) and I bought it in Canada but I Live in Costa Rica

did you update the firmware to 3.24? sense 3.6 roms are supposed to be upgraded with this firmware
Try a different radio. Some radio may result in rebooting. You just need to flash a stable radio or flash the radio by the instruction given by who release it. I know that some radio may cause reboot problem without correct installation.

I am getting the random reboots and I am not sure the explanations given so far have answered the problem. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 GT-N8013ZWYXAR and I installed Revolution HD 9.0 to a clean machine without issues. I don't think the rebooting issue is from incompatibility unless the Rom is incompatible with the devices it was created for as I have the system rebooting after rebooting with seconds of the first reboot. So if it is an incompatibility issue it is because the Rom is incompatible with the phones or tablets that the Rom was made for. I have a clean system with just the Revolution HD Rom and the files supplied and it still reboots. As far as the over heating goes I am not sure that is really the issue also as both the screen and the back are not hot in any way when it reboots.

Sleep mode enabled???

My Sensation 4G TMOUS has been randomly giving me a notification in my status bar saying "Sleep mode enabled" "Networks are disables when screen is off"
I can't find any option to turn it off! When I press the notification it takes me to the "Power" settings, but there is nothing there that references sleep mode??? I also can't clear it from the status bar...
Anyone else get this?

Same problem here...only a kill all process fives me back the internetz
I am running arhd ..I see other 2 people running the same rom and having the same issue
I'm running stock rom, and have also recently gotten these notifications. It comes and goes a couple times a day... Strange.
I'm having this issue too. I hate it. Did you guys tried downloading something from market while having this notification via wifi?
I realized that when I get this notification I can't download something on market although I can browse without a trouble. I can only download app via mobile network when I get this notification.
I hope we can find a solution.
Same here after installing CoreDroid 2.5. Even going back to a backup I did 4 hours before first notification occurs doesn't help - notification comes 15s after boot.
So I had to restore a different rom...
Any idea ?

Any changes people?
It seems the European based rom have this feature in the power settings. I've been running insertcoin and RCMega Mix and am able to turn it off.
I think the setting got enabled by flashing other roms, and just stuck no matter if I went back to stock or at TMOBUS rom.

I just started experiencing this issue yesterday. I flashed a bunch of roms then came back to ARHD 3.6.2. No matter what rom or kernel i try now I still get the same message. I make sure to flash super wipe every time so I don't know why I'm still getting this message. Any one know if it actually does put the phone in sleep mode the when screen is off or is it just an error message?
Glad to see I'm not the only one experiencing this issue.
Since installation of P3D 8.2.1 the issue is back, even when restoring CD2.5 which was running a few days before without this issue. SuperWipe or FullWipe and manual cleanup of SDCard didn't help too.
So where is this setting stored ??? Maybe activated by a Sense 3.5 ROM in Radio module ? Where else may this setting remain when clean system, data, cache and sdcard ?

Seems to be correct, AFAIK CoreDroid 2.5 and P3D 8.2.1 are on European base and shows this issue.
Energy Sense 3.0 based on TMOUS (pls correct me if I'm wrong) seems not to be affected by this works fine in my case.
Update: Bulletproof 1.4 doesn't have this issue too (TMOUS based too ?).

Even when You install a Sense 3.5 ROM ? Energy Sense 3.5 (my favorite) has an option for configuring exact this parameters in power menu, I think other Sense 3.5 based roms too.
Same problem here. ARHD 3.6.5.
I had this when I woke up this morning stock European ROM I did some googling and the only way I found to clear it is go to task manager and kill all tasks since doing this it hasn't returned

I think it only comes up on sense 3.0 roms cuz it doesn't have the performance extra option in the power menu. But I never had the issue it started after I switched to a sense 3.0 from a sense 3.5 rom.

My opinion too, but - cuz they had been working before - there must be a stored setting which still resists a full wipe. Where could it be ?
On the other side: BB 1.4 and Energy Sense 3.0 are not affected... What's the difference between them and the other roms (regarding this issue) ?

Not sure. In my case I used the super wipe script each time after trying a bunch of roms. I was thinking maybe I should try just wiping cache, dalvik and everything else? What method did u use for wiping before flashing. It seems it's not getting wiped and reset completely for some reason.

Random reboot nomatter what i do ??

Hi sensation forum...
I am new to sensation, but not new to android or HTC, as i have 4 different phones with custom firmware on them...
But the sensation give me a lot of problems for some reason...
I have tried ARHD 5.0.2 and Insert Coin 4.0.4, i have also tried Virtuous Inquisition v1.3.0 and HyperSensation CM7.1 v1.2.
The last one is not even ICS based...
All of them give me random reboot cycles...
I have tried 3 different radios also...
Nothing have helped me so far...
I still have a lot of random reboots...
(about every 2-10 min)
When i flash the firmware i use ARHD´s super delete script, but to be shure, i also format everything from within Recovery...
What more can i do here ??
Pleace,if your phone is stable, can you tell me exactly what rom/radio/kernal/ril you use...
My phone was rock stable with factory firmware....
Hey,
When installing roms on the sensation, make sure you follow the guides in the particular thread. It is also important to match recommended radios and rils that go with the specific rom. Make sure you are S-off and cid 11111111. When you are switching roms, you should only have to run the superwipe script, it will set all the partitions for you so that you can flash the rom you choose. Also, before you install ICS, it is recommended that you superwipe BEFORE installing the actual rom to prevent unwanted isssues. Before you do anything else, give me a rundown on what you are currently running.

I have exactly this issue.
I installed ICS Revolution. I had successfully got S-OFF, Installed ClockWork Recovery (updated to latest version), permanently Rooted & obtained SuperCID. I updated radio as recommnded by mike1986 in the ICS post, and wiped the phone with Revolution Super_wipe_Sensation first.
It seemed to run fine apart from Doplhin HD which refused to run properly (so switched to Opera Mobile). However I started to get random reboots.
After a bit I thought to try Insert Coin ICS instead.
I have noticed no real difference in performance and have the identical issue with Dophin HD (back to Opera mobile again).
However I also still have the identical random rebooting issue with this ROM. What else can I do?

I did that with Revolution as well as with Insert Coin this time around. Running the latest version
I'm having the same issue. Did a text book install of AHRD. Everything went super smoothly, but getting these reboots. I have tried to swipe everything, have the latest radio and recommended fw and keep getting these crashes. Not only it's driving me nuts but it makes the phone unuseable... I can't believe we're just 2 to have these problems... Isn't there some king of log we can pull to see what's causing the crash ?

I suspect it has to do with processor speed that's been tweaked in these roms, but can't seem to find a way to tune it back to stock on the ICS rom...
sorry for the late reply, been busy with holiday stuff.. anyhow, make sure you are NOT installing any mods that are not compatible with the current ICS build. I have had no problems switching between ARHD 3.6.10 and ICS 5.0.2. As long as you have s-off and CID 1111111, you should be good to go. When I changed up from 3.6.10 to ICS 5.0.2, I turned off my phone, went into bootloader, selected the option for recovery, then flashed the superwipe script. After it finished flashing that, it rebooted back into recovery. Following that, I went to install from zip, flashed the updated RUU, cleared cache and dalvik, then flashed ICS 5.0.1 and the 5.0.1 to 5.0.2 update. Everything installed smooth from there.

That's exactly what I did. Can't find anything different between your story and what's I did, up to when I switched to Insert Coin
I also don't think it's related to CPU speed. My phone is the XE model which ran at 1.5 Ghz on stock ROM and only did about 3 random reboots in 3 months; (now it's every couple of hours).

I'm still getting the reboot on the nand backup (OrangeFR), this sucks big time. Now I'm thinking it may be due to the fw I had to install to use AHRD (PG58IMG) and the new radio. This is where I'm lost. How can I return everything to standard ? If I understand well the ROM doesn't contain those files, they are separate ?
Was thinking that my random reboots were radio or firmware related.
Strange thing is mine have stopped, and all I did was reinstall revolution ICS 5.0.1 then upgrade to 5.0.2. Didn't even wipe first. So even my apps & settings all of which I had installed & configured since I had installed Insert Coin ICS, are all still there. Haven't had a reboot since.

I switched back to ARHD 3.6.9, did a factory reset+wipe, flashed radio 10.59 and all is fine, I'm somehow reluctant to try again...
I found a solution that worked for me... At last...
I am REALLY sorry that i didn´t answer here before, but i have been really bussy, and actually forgot all about it a few days....
NOW, i also thought that i had some CPU spped issue with the roms, becource i can actually get the same kind of reboot problems on my DHD when i run it over 1500 Mhz...
So i thought that i would lock my sensation to max 900 mhz, and then see what happens... NO change... Still random reboot... Strange...
I then installed a Android 2.3 rom, just to get my phone running again... STILL random reboots...
hmmm....
Now i was confused...
At last i tried to flash a different radio one more time...
I found a radio in some other sensation thread... Flashed it and now my phone works stable...
At least with Virtuos Inquisition 1.3.0... (Proberbly the 1.4.0 will also work, but i have not tried it yet...)
The Radio i had the problems with is the one from mike´s thread...
I actually don´t know why, as i have allways had great success with his roms and his releases on my DHD...
The Radio i use now is 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035-02_2...
But sorry, i can´t remember from what thread...
Ok, this is what i have discovered on this reboot issue...
I hope it make some sense, and that this perhaps can help other with the same problems...
Try turning your phone to recovery.Backup if you havent already....Wipe Data/Factory reset then turn the phone off....
Remove the back cover and the SDCARD.Turn the phone back on and see if it runs ok without the SDCARD, if it does reformat the sd using 4ext recovery and it will also align it.
I spoke too soon.
My phone didn't reboot for a day after I switched back to Revolution ICS 5.0.2 for about a day, then today it began doing random reboots every few minutes. I had not changed any software, just the area (which might have changed signal and frequency the cell tower uses). So I figured it was time to change firmware and radio.
I had previously (prior to installing custom ICS ROM) flashed the radio to 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2 as recommended by Mike1986 in the Revolution HD ICS thread, and had HBoot 1.7.1111 on my device.
I then downloaded the firmware he posted on his thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1412618
This has put the phone back to HBOOT 1.20.0000 and radio 11.15.3504.16_M
Now it's working well and no reboots yet.
Here's hoping.. time will tell.
No matter what radio or Rom combo I get random ass reboots
Super annoying. I did notice the battery goes from 100% to 10% during this reboot
I have calibrated battey. Wiped stats. I'm lost.

Is there a solution for the WiFi issue?

It's been some time since I posted the problem. I searched around and didn't find any new information, so I am just hoping I missed something, like a possible thread that has a fix.
I have no WiFi, have gone through the book trying to fix it, to no avail. HOWEVER, I left the phone un used for about a month, battery had died long ago. A few days ago, I grabbed and and just decided to give it another shot and install revolution hd on it. For whatever reason, it installed successfully and the WiFi was working perfectly. So I updated the 4ext and had notice that a new version of HD had come out, so I decided to update it, and well, back to square 0, WiFi no longer works. So I tried to back pedal and repeated the steps leading up to the WiFi working, Super Wipe with smart flash enable, reboot, installed HD with no smart flash. But this time it did not work. Strange that it worked before though, I wonder if it being out of battery for so long had something to do with it.
did you try to flash the boot.img of your rom?

I too had the wifi issues for quite some time. After updating my kernel it got fixed.
Probably you could do the following:
1. If your HBOOT is S-ON, make sure you follow the above two posts while flashing ROM
2. Ensure that the latest firmware is being used.
2. Try changing the kernel (mine is faux 009b4 now).
I am S-OFF, like I said, I've tried everything.
Just seem odd that out of nowhere it flashed correctly, I should of just left it at that, maybe if I leave the battery inside the phone drained for a while I can repeat the successful flash.

well don't know if you have tried this but the last thing I can think of is to go back to stock ruu, if it still doesn't work it might be hardware related

I faced with same issue. I use ARHD 6.7.1 and i have no problems with wi-fi , but when I try to install sense 4.0 roms for sensation, I always have wi- fi problem.I live in Almaty and I use Beeline for mobile carrier, My device is Revolutionary S-OFF. I live in Almaty and I use Beeline for mobile carrier, and also I have one sim card for Turkey, AVEA, when I use Beeline wi-fi doesn't work but when I use Avea wi-fi works completely. I tried wifix manager. But I can't find solution :/
Same thing happened to me when I updated, go to tools in 4ext before flashing and enable smart flash, I'm pretty sure this will help

[Q] Problem after flashing ARHD 6.7.2 ROM

Hi , I'm having a serious problem with my phone since last week
It's almost a week since I've installed ARHD 6.7.2 ROM on my HTC Sensation , at the first It was a really great experience but in this last three days It's just freaking me out !!!!
My phone shutdowns frequently by Itself mostly when I'm calling some one or some body calls me or when I enable my gprs .
I tried too reinstall the Rom but It just didn't make any difference .
I have to mention that I'm using stock kernel
Please let me know if you have any idea what the problem Is ?
Are you undervolted or over volted? Have you tried a different Rom to see if problem still persists? If it does have you checked your battery to see if it's loose in the casting? If you get a wiggle out of the battery try putting a small wedge of paper to stabilize it. I would do some experimenting and see if the behavior continues on a different Rom. Hope this helps.
sent from HTC sensation, soff, 3.33 firmware, viper Rom, sense 4.1, kernel version PYD-X stable 3.1, mugen battery 3800mah. Please press thanks if I helped in anyway.
I have checked the battery But I didn't try any different Rom
I'll give It a try
thanks anyway...
Try flashing the ROM again overtop of the current install. You could have gotten something screwed up during install. A re-install will usually fix it if that happened.
You won't lose any data. Everything will be right where you left it after boot.
As I said earlier I have tried to re-install It on top of the existing Rom I have even super wiped my phone But It just didn't work
Try to do a factory reset and install ARHD 6.8
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
1.Download ARHD 6.8.0 put zip file on sd card
2.Go intro recovery use format all partitions exept sd card
3.Flash ARHD 6.8.0 with custom kernel
And enjoy!
It isn't the ROM, probably. Are you using the Anker Battery?
im on anker and had the same problems with constant reboots.. i gave up on ARHD and jumped ship to CM10..
Beamed from my Senny..
Tnx guys for your replies I have just changed my rom to vipers and I'm now waiting to see if the problem still exists . thanks god It didn't shutdown so far ....
I let you now if It happened again
