Free Android app : Smart Help - Need your thoughts and suggestions - General Topics

All,
I've developed "Smart Help" a free android app., which has a potential to save a life..,
This Application will monitor your phone’s sensor to calculate the force generated by the device and based on few algorithms the application will determine automatically if you need any help or not. As a result the application will automatically send SMS with your location (you can disable this setting) and will call the phone number that you have selected and it will place the call on LOUD SPEAKER.
I got this idea when I was trying out some android code and though it might help someone., but I need help from you! from the developer community and as a user to improve this app and make it more useful for all.,
I'll be happy if this could help at least one person.,
Available in Play Store: Smart Help Beta
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dee.smart.help
Facebook page for more details and screen shots: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Smart-Help/371519172900503
Please give a try and provide your suggestions and questions!! as always thanks for your help!

Wow, Thats a pretty cool app!

I think the main thing will be getting the sensitivity right so that it doesn't go off just because someone stops quickly in a car or jumps down from somewhere or whatever, but great idea.

surely will give it a try

Very good idea. Hope it doesnt start sending sms every time I through the phone an my bed.

I do that all the time... got you covered!!
it has sensitivity adjustment in the settings, which can be updated if it gives false alarm., and every time it will show you an alert screen for 25 sec, before sending distress message.,
it has two level of warning:
1. It detects you / phone fell and will just ask if you need help, it won't automatically call / send message
2. it will detect greater force and will show warning for 25 sec before sending the distress message
3. you can click I'm fine button and the next screen will ask if you need to automatically adjust the sensitivity..

Went to play store on PC and says not compatible with my galaxy s 2 but it Is compatible with my older captivate.

OK, I got it , but it doesn't work right on my phone. Detects fall, counts down, then shuts down and goes to my home screen. Any ideas? I think this is an amazing idea, would love to get it working and spread the word!

it might be the initial warning., the force has to be high to send the distress message.,
what is the fall detect value in the settings?

It looks like you put alot of thinking and testing into this app to prevent false alarms. Good job will give it a try
Keep up the good work

Thanks Buddy!! have put some logic to find if you are running / using stairs., it won't throw a warning for distress message, but will put a notification on Start and End time., hope that works as well.,

so far.. the only problem I found is in the settings menu it looks like the graphics options are formated for a larger screen.. just that last quality slider which is at full by default.. and doesn't seem to slow down the g2x at all...
ARESOME
pretty cool game tho, nice graphics
Just finished my install. Got to the title screen and my phone completely froze up. I launched the game again after a battery pull and got into the menus. Brightness and graphic settings go off-screen. Has anybody else noticed the big black square at the start of the campaign? Looks like a bug or driver issue.
Sent from my G2x using XDA App
When I launch the game it freezes for a second or two but the music still plays. does it resume soon after for you? I just started a new campaign to check on the black box but didn't see anything. if you're on the stock rom, the screen shot still works. can you grab a shot of it?
EDIT: May i just say... this game is BEAUTIFUL!!!
How come charging to my tmobile bill isnt an option in in-app billing? I want to buy it but usually i just put it on my monthly bill.

With it being in app billing I wonder if i would have to buy it on both my Xoom and G2X. Would be kinda a ****ty thing for them to do but why else do the in app bill and not a market purchase.

By story you try to help the ferderation to convoy the transporter ship. they attack you by mistake cuz they thought you where a pirate. then you will be on a space station and some dude out of your past tells you bunch of stuff about the past. so you try to leave the station and it tells you to buy the full version, you can as well go onto the map and see all the solar systems but if you try to access any one of them..... $$$$$
Ohhh reason why no T mobile billing = German company declined the mobile accout billing cuz the have to wait for the payment to clear for 3 days while a credit card goes thru right away.

i know its late bute Drocap2 (probably have to get the apk from a search as it was pulled from the market) will let you have a notification bar trigger, map screenshotting to the search button, and has a shake trigger if that helps

Honestly, it's a timing issue... I used to have a hard time getting shots by holding Back and then hitting Home, but I've gotten MUCH better at it. It's all in the timing of how you do it, the best way i can explain it is to press back and kind of say "one one-thousand" to yourself then tap Home without moving your finger off of Back. You'll here the camera shutter sound and it'll be saved to your SD card in a folder for screen shots.
This is the only way I take my shots and it works fine, provided you've got the timing down (also, I've only used Froyo ROMs).

There are still some things you'll never get a screenshot with. Why not just use one of the screen capture apps like DroCap or Shootme? There are likely hundreds more that do the same thing as well.

Honestly, I think that all this app does is just look at the pictures that it has in it's "face training" and then just match them.. I know it's kind of what it does... .. but if you (somebody other than jeff.. you probably have already realized this) will know what I'm talking about
I agree that is probably how it works I have tryed it out with about twenty people and it would not let them into the apps I had locked. I just think it is a neat app
Oh and I don't use the liveness detection setting I have it unchecked

I have the paid version of this app. Difficult because its new but i have not found a way to fool it. You need like five pics at different angles in different lightings, no blurry ones and it works good. Liveness detection in tricky, lockscreen is the only way i use it

smart stay

OK guys I am on ICS 4.2F-6B on my skyrocket, the smart stay app will not open and says the beta testing is over...any ideas how I can get this to work? Also the screen keeps flashing no front camera detected, however the front camera works when I go into the camera. Why would this be flashing on the screen?
Sorry to be such a newbie, but I guess we all have to start somewhere!

i just got it, but for some reason, i dont think its working. It could be user error too! I followed the directions, but the screen wont turn on or off when i put my eyes in front of it or move them away. isnt it supposed to turn on when it detects your eyes and off when it doesnt?

No this one is just for when your screen timeout time runs out, if it see's two eyes looking at it then it will keep the screen on.

Most likely it's your voice app or Talkback from your Settings >> Accessibility.

[APP][UPDATE 8/31/13] KeepScreen v4.0 keep your device awake per active app

***DELETE***
This app is now outdated. I am going to re-write it completely from scratch. I will obviously include the standard features, but is there anything else you users would like me to add?
Very Cool ..
Thanks for the update
Cool, thanx for updating this little gem!
I used it but it wasn´t working more for me with ICS 4.0.3, so i switched to another app, but always liked the option to have the screen go a bit darker and not stay with full brightness.
Havent looked at your improved app but could you make the constant notification tick/untickable? I never experienced that the app stopped working, so i wouldn´t need this and i hate to have any icons in the notification bar
The autostart option is VERY nice to have! :good:
EDIT:
Just installed and saw there is already an option for the notification icon, great!
Working very nice so far, will monitor it and give you some feedback during the next days.
Thanx again, really nice to see this app is liked by other people as well.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing that app....

This sounds like a great app that could be well used on certain apps that you want the screen to stay on, well done to both developers, now I am wondering as a noob and still on a learning curve, will this app work on a Galaxy GT-S5830i rooted device and what would be the best way to install.

First and foremost i want to give ALL CREDIT to the original developer of this amazing app. KeepScreen is developed by AxDroid LLC and hosted for free on the play store.
It has been forever since they last updated it and they were not responding to my emails. Their website also returns with an error so i am not sure if the company is no longer in business or if they just abandoned the app. (Its ashame honestly i love this app)
But there were a few quirks with the app. For instance, the app had to be manually started every single time you rebooted your phone.
Secondly i read people experienced the app would just stop working.. (I havent experienced this at all yet) But im guessing its due to android cleaning things up to free RAM.
Well i took it on myself and i was able to fix the first issue. After first launching the app and selecting the applications you wish to always have the screen stay on, and then launching the service, after a reboot the app will start again and you dont have to manually start the service.
The second issue i am currently trying to solve by placing a constant notification in the status bar. That is the only way to keep android from cleaning and killing processes.
The app is truly amazing, i have the Galaxy S3 and it has that "Smart stay" thinger where if you are looking at the screen the phone will stay on, well when im watching TV and i look up from my phone for a single second, they screen shuts off. I hate that, so i actually just use KeepScreen, set what apps i wish to always stay on, and then they stay on so long as that app is open and displayed on the screen.
Just download and install using a file browser.

Just two points for me:
Adding a widget to enable and disable the service and it would be fantastic.
Stopping the service when the screen is turned off (or alternative) because I saw my screen turn back alone (synchronization of a monitored application?)
Thank you for your work.

It has a listener receiver for screen off. Sometimes if you have an app open that you set to stay on all the time, and you manually shut it off, it turns back on. That's just because the service didn't shut down fast enough.
And I don't have source code. I doubt I could add a widget.
However I could write my own app that force close the service. (Almost like a task killer) but it won't be able to start the service.

I really loved this app when it first came out, but it fell by the wayside for various reasons.
Thanks for picking up the slack here! You'd think this is something they could actually build into android at some point. Apps that when on-screen don't let the phone blank the screen.
Tried it and it works great! =)
