Hey, guys.
I bought my Samsung Captivate a few months ago online, and for a few days, it worked great. Then I dropped it. I dropped it from about head height and it landed flat on it's back on my floorboards. This didn't seem to have damaged it, so I didn't worry about it.
Later than day, the power button suddenly stopped working completely. I did some research and found that pulling the phone down, spraying the button with some form of pure alcohol and pressing it a few hundred times would sometimes fix it, but it didn't.
I put my phone back together and my wifi wasn't working. Tried to reflash the ROM that I was using (ICS Slim 3.6, came on the phone when I bought it) and that made all of the connections come up, but when I tried to connect it dropped them all. I had to reflash the rom for them to come up and it still did it.
So, after my wifi not working for a few months, I decided to try JellyBean. I installed it according to this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783064
So, I had been fiddling around with the rom, and had already had to reflash it once due to me stuffing something up, and I decided to see if the wifi was working, seeing as I was using a new kernel. It worked. I connected and it was working fine.
Later on in the night, I had to restart my phone, and the wifi wasn't working any more. I've even reflashed since to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas? Any help would be enormously appreciated.
Thanks
If you've got any ideas, please, let me know. I can't afford a new phone.

Hey guys,
This is my first post but i have been doing a ton of reading since i got my fuze and have flashed many different OS's and have had a great time doing it. I have stumbled upon a little blip though. I flashed to NATF's v3.1 and ran removehiddenproxy.cab i was prompted to soft reset so i did. Now i keep getting a popup saying my device is going to power off every minute or so!!! this is still happening even after i flashed to a few other roms to see if it would get rid of it! i've dug through some info but so far havent come up with anything. Any ideas on where to go now? the exact prompt is "Power will be turned off, and you may loose data if you have not saved them. Do you want to continue?"

It's not a rom problem that I can tell.
My stock rom does the same thing from time to time.
I installed Energy rom to see if that would help but it still did it.
I put the newest rom from htc back in in case I have to take it in for repair, and it's still doing it.
I have no clue why it does it. The first time it did it, draining the battery seamed to have stopped it. The next time it stopped after 6-8 hrs on its own. This time who knows..
Something like this appears to be happening to me as well, though I just can't use my power button at all for 8ish hours. I am using energy rom.
I was carrying my phone and i dropped it, and now it won't turn on. Well i plug it to my computer and then i pressed the on button and it turns on but it gets to windows screen and reboots and does this over and over. BUT if i unplug it doesnt turn on anymore.
I've flashed it a couple of time but the last time i flashed it was back to the stock alltel rom because I wanted picture messages to come through.
I've reflashed it again and it goes through but when you unplug it. It turns off again.
So, when did you drop it? Like, right after you flashed a gsm rom onto a cdma phone (or vice-versa, not sure what alltel is, though I suspect it's cdma). Is dropping the phone even relevant to the story, or is flashing the cause of the re-boot cycles? You need to be a little more clear. By that, I mean, what did you do immediately before the re-booting started? Flash, or drop?
I suspect you need to go back to the stock rom and you'll be good to go. If dropping is the cause, go back to stock, and if it's still broken, send it in for repairs/warranty/insurance or whatever.

Yup, Alltel IS CDMA.....
If it works while connected to the computer then you might have broken the battery-phone connection...or who knows. I'd definitely send it back if it is tstill in warranty.
Good luck.
Okay, i flashed it like 6 hours earlier to droping it, no i don't have warranty on it.
so i flashed it with back to the stock rom
then i dropped it 6 hours later and it keeps rebooting only when i have it plugged in but it wont turn on without it being plug.
You haven't answered whether or not you flashed a GSM ROM to your CDMA phone.
Can you see physical damage?
Oh, idk why but i typed something wrong, i've had this rom forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42741 the alltel one since yesterday, and i dropped it today, After i dropped it put the battery back on but it didn't start up so i pluged it to my comp and it started up so i did hard reset while i had it plugged up to the computer and it didn't fix it.
*NOTE it can only start up (well try to start up but reboots) when i have the cord pluged up as soon as i take it out it wont start at all.*
So, i figured since it will only start up when i have a power source and reboots it might have a booting problem. So i reflashed it with the same rom i posted a link to..
I still have the same problem
Also i have no warranty bought phone from a friend.
*Also no damage just battery poped out when it got dropped*

So before you dropped it it was working fine on the stock Alltel ROM?
If that's the case, its probably physical damage, although the constant restarts would indicate a software issue.
Make sure your battery is getting a good connection.
It may just be a damaged battery.
Yes, it was working fine, I got a spare battery at home so i'm gonna try that, but ya the restarting make me think a software problem cause its getting power really from the computer port.
Hey, so I have the infuse 4g on JB 4.2.2, and I want to get it back to a stock 2.3.5. I have looked at every forums, but I want to know if it's possible to do so without a computer. Is there a .zip package that I can just flash as a normal rom to make it go back to normal?? Thanks!!
You have to have a computer to return to stock because ICS and newer use different partitions for everything than gingerbread. Flashing with Odin on a computer includes a file that tells the phone the old partitions and allowing it to run gingerbread.

I am running my phone with the 1.275 release of the Beanstalk. Last month I forgot my phone in my pocket when going in the sea (I believe this is a common problem among people recently). After it got wet, it didn't work at all for over 12 hours. I took it apart and made sure I dried everything. I cleaned all connections with alcohol and put it back together. It booted and it took a while to settle. I didn't expect it to go without issues. All works great except two things:
1. It takes a long time to wake up when pushing the power button. Sometimes I miss calls because the screen stays dark too long and by the time it wakes up, I have already missed the call.
2. When a USB cable is plugged in, it is not responsive. I found a way around it - right before plugging it I wake it up and hold my finger on the screen. Then connect it with the cable and luckily it stays awake during the whole time.
I decided to upgrade to a newer release of Beanstalk and did that by flashing 1.275. I was hoping that this will fix it. Unfortunately everything stayed the same.
Next idea - return to stock and make my way to the Beanstalk again. Well, I can't make it go in Download Mode and two computers couldn't recognize it. I used different cables including the original one, but without any luck. Then I installed a reboot widget from the play store and was hoping that it will reboot in download mode, but no luck again.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? At this point I am not certain if this is just a software issue. It could be a hardware problem as well.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Before I start I will say I am rooted and have tried multiple different ROMs to make sure that's no the problem. Starting last Saturday, my phone would randomly turn off. I never saw it turning off until today though. I just thought that somehow it had turned itself off in my pocket. However, today I caught it turning off. Right before it shut down, a logo of a gray battery with a USB cable going into it with an exclamation point in a triangle off to the side appeared. Then, when I tried to turn it on, the same symbol showed up and I couldn't even get to the LG logo. An hour later when I tried again, it booted up, no problem. At the time, I was running illusion rom with Rin kernel. After several other times of the phone turning off with the logo and not being able to turn it back on for a half of an hour, I decided to go back to my old backup of illusion to see if that was the problem. The random turn offs persisted. Worried, I flashed the latest cm12 nightly. Things were going great until just 20 minutes ago where the phone turned off accompanied by the symbol. Whaf does it mean? What should I do? Hopefully my phone's not broken cuz I don't think at&t of lg will accept a phone that's rooted and has seen multiple Roms.
update
Today the problem has persisted and the shut downs have occurred at exactly the same times as they did yesterday. I think I might have to use the "return to stock" stuff and send it to LG. I'm pretty sure this is an internal hardware issue since I have tried multiple different Roms without installing any apps and the problem persists. I am going to call LG now and see if they'll replace it. I've also tried a spare battery so that certainly isn't the problem. I'm confused. If anyone knows what to do, please share.
I would flash tool back to stock and start over. That really does fix a lot of weird problems. It has for me anyway.
Just tried reflashing stock. No success.... sending it in to LG next Tuesday since Monday is a Holiday and its still semi-functional so i'll use it during the weekend. Hopefully they wont charge me for it.
My Nexus 6P was recently broken but my GF (on accident lol but still she's lucky I love her. If it had been anyone else, like one of my guy friends, I prolly woulda had to hit em haha j/k)
Anyways, borrowed a friend Acatel 4060a IDEAL. He dropped it off last night. I then factory reset it and all that, hooked up my google accounts, downloaded WoW - Hearthstone and my Drastic DS emulator, and everything was fine. Then this morning I was bored and figured I would see about if this cheap POS is rootable. Which it is, and I proceeded to do so. Everything worked fine the whole morning, til bout 45min ago, I was leaving to run up to the AT&T store to get a SIM card so I could hook it up to my account, and on the way out the door I reset it cause I just had finished updating some apps in the play store. It then became stuck at the Bootlogo. So I then did what you always do in this case, try taking the battery out and the SD Card, then putting just the battery back in, see if that works. Didn't. Tried just resetting it a few more times, and let it sit for like 20min hoping maybe it was just taking extra long. Nope. So I then booted into the stock recovery wiped the cache and did a wipe/factory reset. Still nothing, still stuck. Tried a couple more times. Still nothing. And this phone apparently doesn't have a download mode, so I can even plug it into my laptop cause it can't make a connection obviously without being in download mode, or fully booted into the OS. I am at my wits end.
I'm hoping one of you fine peeps might have a suggestion of something I could try that I perhaps have overlooked or didn't know about. Learn something new every day right So please HELP ! lol its gonna be at almost 2 more weeks til I get paid and will be able to afford the Insurance Deposit for them to send me a replacement Nexus 6P, and I got way too much going on right now and I can't go two weeks without a phone.

I'm assuming you used Kingroot to root it? It's a common issue for Kingroot to cause a bootloop.
Typically, this is fixed by re-flashing the stock firmware but you have to get it to connect to PC to do it, and that's only if the stock firmware is even available.
