Can someone share with me the files that you use to root your Atrix on ICS? I know Jim had them up at some point in time but he took down all the files because some people were bootlooping.
Posting her to show that I, too, would like those files.

Plug in the usb cable to your phone. Use a back port on your com. Then set check "unkown sources" under system settings > Security & Screen lock. Then set USB debugging on. You can find that under system settings > Developer options. Once you've done that, Unzip and run the appropriate file for your system. IE: windows or mac.
REMEMBER! WE HAVE NO WAY TO GO BACK TO GINGERBREAD AT THE MOMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND TRYING TO HAS CAUSED BRICKED PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!
ALSO, during the rooting process, your phone will reboot several times, so don't be alarmed ..

Can we not reflash stock gb on atrix 2
Got official ICS ota update. I have the stock GB setup and RSD lite. Have used to flash rom in the past. But have not done it after the ICS. Will it not work???? Also aftr ICS battery consumption is high. 80% eaten up by just the display..
Note : mobile data is inactive. Display to auto and no widget, except quick contacts and power widget. Any solution.

Hey can u elaborate a little more, because i run it and noting. Mac user.
No Superuser permission even after rooting ...
Hi, I have two ATT Atrix 2 MB865 phones. Both are on OTA ICS. I tried to root them using A2_ICS_root and the process went fine but when I try check if phone rooted properly, I am getting <Application name> has been denied Superuser permission. I can see Superuser app in app drawer but I think both the phones couldn't root properly. I did enable USB debugging and Unknown sources. I tried to set USB mode to Charge Only but couldn't find it anymore.
Now how can I correct it or remove files which root process put in my phone? Please help!

You need to go into the superuser app, and in settings there is a way to tell it to auto accept su requests, enable that, then go right back and set it back to always ask, then go and update the binary for su in the other tab in the superuser app. you just click on the su binary and update it from there.
After you do that, you should be ok, I think.

stevenfreestyler : Sorry. I have a little confusion here. Please help out. "Once you've done that, Unzip and run the appropriate file for your system. IE: windows or mac" - Is the execution of the root app need to be done on the PC while the usb cable is connected to the phone or once the files are unzip, transfer it to the phone, disconnect the usb cable from the phone and execute the root file from within the phone? Done both ways but couple of restarts you've mentioned didn't take place so i guess I've done something wrong some where. Please do advise. thank you

SORRY FOR MY ENGLISH
Here is a tutorial made by me. Try to be as clear as possible to no have doubts.
First of all, gives root access permissions and capabilities of advanced settings changes that normal users can not. This expands the use of some applications that only work if the unit is rooted.
*** IMPORTANT ***
Make every procedure at your own risk. Doing it wrong can brick your phone and turn it into a very stylish paper weight. I´m not responsible for possible damage.
PROGRAMMES REQUIRED
Z4root-1.3.0
FOOTSTEPS
1 - Download z4root.apk, transfer it to a folder on the SD card;
2 - Go to Settings -> Applications -> Development -> Enable USB Debugging;
3 - Go to File -> Files from the SD card and locate the "z4root.apk";
4 - Select and install "z4root.apk";
5 - Go back to menu and select z4root;
6 - When the application open, select "Root";
7 - After the process of Root and the unit will restart when you return he will be rooted;
The whole process takes no more than 5 minutes. With the unit rooted will show a new icon, "Superuser" menu, there you can manage the applications that will be allowed access.
The whole process was done by me using Windows 7 Ultimate x32.
It took about 3 minutes. I am available for questions.
I had just installed z4root on my phone, n rooted from there.
But for me it took arnd 30 min or so. So if some1 doesnt get it done in 5 min, dont get scared. It mite take a while longer...
My one is UK version and please install > Temp root > Permanant root (if you want)
Else you may get a hang of system. It took me about less than 1 minute for whole process. Thank you.
Used z4root 1.3 (though not with instructions from here)...did permanent root as had read temporary didn't work and had no issues. Process took under a minute once I enabled use debugging as requested in the app...

i edit the post.
z4root did not work on my Milestone 2. It force crashes every time.
It is a Brazilian version.
I have a problem, z4 it's about 15 minutes that is locked on:
"runninge exploit in order to obtain root access"
I must to wait? If I shut my milestone I risk to brick?
edit:
reboot -> no brick -> "re z4" -> 30 second -> rooted!

That isn't working on mine either. I get to "acquiring root shell" and z4root exits to the home screen. No force crash, just closes.

my build: MILA2_U6_3.21.0 <-- That is correct, I have never applied an SBF file, only automatic updates
Baseband: EPU93ST2_U_03.0C.00
Android Version 2.2.1
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9
Put your phone in Airplane mode, and then run z4root.
No idea why it won't work without doing this, but it does.
I also had problem obtaining temporary root, but seen as I use various programs that require root privileges it didn't bother me much - permanent root works perfectly.
I probably just have to wait for z4root 1.4.0. Nothing in this thread works.
My MS2 is the Brazilian Retail version, and the z4root hasn't work for me too. I had followed the procedure step by step, and after a very long time, my phone reboot, and when it turns on again nothing has happened. Did you know some other way to have root acess for the MS2?
This is my very first Android, and after that I was afraid to try again. (In my old HTC Wizard thats all too easy)
Thanks,
Pablo

After so many nights without sleep, i found solution for rooting new LG P500 official rom update.
DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RISK, I WILL HAVE NO LIABILITY IF YOU BRICK YOUR PHONE !!!
Read instructions carefully
First of all, download archive from here and extract it to your desktop
And download driver pack from here
1. Back up all data with ASTRO file manager, you can find it on market.
2. Hard reset your phone either with system->privacy->erase all data or turning your phone off, and holding HOME,VOLUME DOWN and POWER BUTTON.
3. After phone boots up, you have clean file system, then go to Applications, and turn on USB Debugging mode
NOW THE FUNNY PART
1. Connect your phone with usb cables, make sure you have installed all the drivers needed, and connect phone in DEBUGGING Mode (provided a bit upper on this post)
2. In the extracted folder called root on your desktop, go to ADB folder and start cmd7.exe if u run win7 or cmdXP.exe (run as administrator in both options) if ur pc runs win XP. (your address bar should like something like this: C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR NAME HERE\Desktop\root\ADB
3. After starting cmd7 or cmdXP, type following commands
Code:
adb devices
then
Code:
adb shell
(symbol will change to $ or #) and copy paste following command into your terminal
Code:
echo 1 > /data/local/lge_adb.conf
4. After doing this, REBOOT YOUR PHONE
5. After reboot, go to root folder on desktop again, and start SuperOneClick.exe
6. Select GingerBreak method and press root button
7. After few seconds VOILA !!! You have rooted Optimus One.
8. REBOOT PHONE and update superuser app from market (mine was updated automatically)
To unroot device, follow steps from 1 to 6 in FUNNY PART and select unroot instead gingerbreak. and you will have unrooted device
I tried to root all kinds with android SDK and many others, and always had problems with force close. Running on this method for 3 days, and have no errors.
This is my tutorial, if u consider it helpfull, think about donating for cofee or beer.
Comments, Questions... post it below, i will read them and answer ASAP

Try EXACTLY as written, because if you don't do like it is mentioned above, root will be wrong, and u will have app.crash on superuser. If Everything is done by my tut, your superuser app will be updated and phone rooted.

Hi, today i rooted my Optimus One with 2.3.3 but i have one problem - Android Market don't work (Server error, try again later (...) - something like this).
How can i fix it ?
I think that i solved it.
I replaced SuperUser.apk with new one, downloaded from hxxp://androidsu.com/superuser/ and now everything seems to work correctly
Worked like a charm. Thank you
Getting SU error everytime I try to do anything on Titanium Backup, even after I updated SU. Any thoughts?

hope someone has a way. I've been trying for three days to root this phone and nothing works so far. Not sure if [email protected] has done anything or not to prevent rooting.
Step 1. http://androidforums.com/huawei-son...nmod-7-2-zad-rom-v-1-5huawei-u8650-sonic.html
Download and unzip the "Drivers Huawei (adb drivers)" to your desktop and install the drivers. Also download and unzip the "Custom CM Recovery" to your desktop as you will need it later.
Step 2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
Create a folder named DooMLoRD-v4 on your desktop and Download DooMLoRD_v4_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip and unzip it to that folder.
Put your phone into USB debugging mode and run the "runme" batch file in the DooMLoRD-v4 folder on your desktop. When done your phone should be rooted.
Step 3. Open the Custom CM Recovery folder and run the "Instalador" batch file
you now should have a rooted AT&T Fusion with ClockworkMod Recovery installed on it.
Step 4. http://androidforums.com/huawei-son...nmod-7-2-zad-rom-v-1-5huawei-u8650-sonic.html
Scroll down and you will find two custom roms that you can download and install on your phone with CM Recovery. Before you install open up the "system" folder and open the build.prop file in notepad once opened go to edit and in the drop down you should see a replace option. Replace "u8650" with "u8652" so that in your info your phone will have the right model number and save it.
Thanks!

Try and download the newest version of superuser and make a root file on the sd card. After that superuser is downloaded, put the file into the root file and wait for it to transfer, then when thats finished power off the phone and put it into recovery mode and apply update from SD card and choose zip file. Choose the superuser update and let it go through the process. Once its finished reboot device and you have root. Now all you have to do is flash a custom recovery on it and load a rom.
Let me know how it works!

First thing that you want to do is root your phone. I have done this twice with this method and it has worked great both times.

This will open up the Service Mode
Go to Project Menu > Background Settings > Log Settings
Turn on Log Switch and set Log Level Settings to Verbose
go back one screen
Go to Dump and Log and place a check in all log settings.
Reboot the phone
After reboot use superoneclick2.3.3

This method doesn't work on my old Consumer Cellular AT&T Huawei U8652, just hangs at Step #7 "Waiting for device"
Adb appears in the list of programs on my phone viewed within the program "network monitor" (not transferring data, but in that program list). Note that adb doesn't show in my app drawer or settings/ installed apps list.
Is this normal? I don't think I did anything to install it, unless it was installed by soc root or qkster's 2.3.6 stock package.
The reason I installed network monitor...picked up my phone the other day and turned on display and saw superuser root access request screen briefly, even though I had been doing nothing with the phone except torn the screen on.. That request screen went away before i could fully digest it, but I thought the program requesting access was "Elixir widgets"...which doesn't require root access (although does have a ton of permissions since it's a "do-everything" widget program). I then opened su program, Went to su log tab, and there wss no su request for elixir in there... Nor any recent requests from any program. Maybe I imagined it, but i'm a little suspicious I have some malware or spy ware since I saw that unusual root request.

I should clarify, I'm not concerned about soc our qkster's package...rather i'm curious about adb. Is it normal to have adb on my phone after setting up my phone with soc and qkster's package.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using Tapatalk 2
It appears you are running stock 2.3.6?
If so, you are seeing the adb daemon which is launched by the kernel. You will find that in /sbin.
This service supports the adb connection between PC and phone. To disable from phone OS, turn off USB debugging in Settings-->Applications-->Development. Note that with the custom GB kernels, adb is enabled by default in recovery mode.
JB, specifically 4.2.2, provides a higher level of security in this area. I posted some info on this in Scott's CM10.1 thread.

Pete,

Hey Guys,
Brand new to XDA and new to messing with my phone in anyway, I looked through some threads, but am not sure if I can mess something up worse by not following the right steps,
I basically bought a used phone on craigslist, AT&T LG G FLEX 2 - LG-H950 and when I factory reset it, many of the default apps are not installed, cannot use my calendar and the phone is just a little off all together.
Not sure if the phone is still rooted or if the factory reset cleared it, and I am all together worried that the only reason the kid sold it to me was because he messed it up and couldn't fix it and just pawned it off to my dumas
I know its frowned upon to start new threads when the answers are out there, but i need this for work ASAP and if I screw it up and cant use it all Ill have to go back to my work iPhone (last resort, i hate it)
I started to follow hyelton's video http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
but got cold feet when i couldnt find my exact model the h950
It is currently on the android 5.0.1 and when i tried the update before i reset it, it said i couldn't update it something about the root. So i reset it and everything is the same as when I bought it on CraigList.
How do I get it back to square one, like it came in the box. I am interested in learning how to root and be in control of my own property, but I just want to get back to the start safely without bricking it so I can follow the forums and not feel so helpless.
im sorry if the first response to this just point me to another thread, but I will appreciate even that much guidance so at least i know i am headed in the right direction

Factory reset won't remove root BTW. Recent Android phones seem to perform an integrity check prior to updating that fails when root is present.

Just read that to get the phone back to stock, then you'll be able to upgrade to 11x (5.1.1) and eventually 11z.

cool, thanks, one more question
I made an account with MEGA
downloaded the Flex2Tool 1.4.1 and unzipped
downloaded the system.img.gz
Started watching your video. however i am not bricked.
it has missing default apps and it says this device is suspected in rooting, software update is not available for rooted device.
so what is my first step after downloading these files. do i connect phone to my computer and open up the flex2tool and
select variant 1 which is H950 v10d etc
then do I select 1 , ( i do not need anything on the phone.)
or move straight to variant 2. restore unroot stock system.
if i do that next where do I put the system.img.gz file on my phone. anywhere in the internal memory and before or after I reset it?
sorry for all the questions and thanks for all the help. i am very new to doing anything besides calling or texting on my phone

1. You first need the LG USB drivers for the Flex to be installed
2. The system image file (gz) will have a .img file inside that's about 4GB, so unzip the one you downloaded with 7zip, preferably from a PC. Put the .img file on the root of the phone's internal memory before proceeding. You'll also want USB debugging enable and disable the verify over USB option
3. Once file is on phone you can continue with the tool, it will eventually go into download mode & show ## when finished

okay i did that but
I dont understand your last thing >>>>"You'll also want USB debugging enable and disable the verify over USB option"
when i have my usb connected the phone gives three options
1.Charge Phone
via usb
2.Media Sync (MTP)
3.Send images (PTP)
When restarting the recovery tool after img. has been installed to root of internal storage. do i just start program or do i need to turn off phone or reset it or just run it with the MTP

Like that. Check that the USB debugging icon shows in the notification area while USB is connected as MTP. Then you can start the tool. Be sure that the .img is present on the root(sdcard0) prior to letting the tool reboot the phone.

Did you remove the USB cord, then re insert after ##? The tool will reboot for you, and are you back into the OS now?

Probably a good idea. I think the previous owner was trying to delete some of the bloatware and didn't properly restore the phone before selling it, not sure if that was done purposely or not.

okay, i reset it but still dont have default apps
the default apps for the calendar which was my original issue still is not there, just a generic Android icon. because there is no default it will not allow me to sync calendars, also no default messaging app.
not sure if this just put me back to 5.0.1 which is where already was but i am still missing default apps to make the phone run smoothly,
any ideas on what i may have done wrong

Super noob
Looks like it came unzipped when I downloaded from Mega. Icon is a blank paper folded too right corner and reads system.img.gz and 1.6 gb which is what I copied to the root storage and then followed everything else and did it again starting from scratch and still have generic icon without the default apps like calendar, browser, and messaging. I'm trying tho. Been reading forums since last night with no luck
I do appreciate everyone's help tho,
And ace there is no calendar under apps

You need to unzip that file
.gz like .rar or .zip are different types of compression, so download the latest version of winrar or use 7zip, you need the system.img file (4gb)
