[TRICK] Hidden App Launchers (Ninja Apps)

I might be late to the party but here we go anyway:
HTC Evo: Invisible App Launchers (Ninja Apps)
The Video Tutorial:
The Text / Image Tutorial:
What you will need:
- An HTC Evo (probably works on other phones, but I don't care about other phones)
- A Custom Launcher Program (Launcher Pro & ADW EX are what I have found this to work on)
- A Transparent Icon (You can download this one)
- A Wallpaper With App Images built into it (You can use this one)
The process:
Here we have our main screen...you guys are lucky I just switched to the cm7 RC1 and did a full wipe otherwise you might have had to wait for the apk release.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",

}
Basics first, we need to switch to a wallpaper that has App images designed into it...the one I have is really nice but there are others out there. Look.
After that we will switch to the first screen we will be adding our hidden launchers too. On this screen you will long press to bring up the "Add To Home Screen" selector. Select the "Custom Shortcut" and then choose "Pick Your Activity." From the next screen you choose what kind of Activity you want, an Application, Music Playlist, etc...After making your selection. Choose ok and your launching icon will be added.
Repeat the above step until your icons cover the launching area of your desire. You can go into ADW or Launcher Pro settings and edit the number of columns and rows on the screen. This will help somewhat with making icons cover the icon area from the wallpaper. For mine I left it at 6 rows and 4 columns.
After all your icons in place it is now time to make them transparent...Long press over the icon and in ADW you will select "Edit." press the icon in the edit screen and choose the transparent icon you downloaded earlier in the tutorial. Repeat this process until all of your icons are transparent.
YOU'RE DONE...
Some tidbits and problems you may run into:
- They are kind of invisible but I still see the icon text... You need to go into the settings for your Launcher Program and select "Hide icon Labels."
- I can't get the icons to fit right over the images... This is not an exact process and will requires some trial and error, as well as, tinkering on your part. Some things you can adjust to help this: Adjust your wallpaper to different sizes and display areas, Adjust the amount of columns and rows displayed on your screens.
- Where can I find more wallpapers like this? My best advise is to look on the internet, it's how I cam across it. I do make custom wallpapers, but, they are not free ($1.99) donations.
If you have any more questions please post them and I will address them as timely as I can.
this is awesome thanx
Umm, there's nothing new about this. Lots of people have posted themes that use this method. I've been doing this since last summer. This might be useful as a tutorial on the basic setup of this method. Also, of course it will work on any phone. What is the apk file going to do? Maybe I'm missing something...
great
Wow! I hadn't heard of this before, but i love the idea and the tutorial. THANKS!!! I'm gonna have to scour for more wallpapers. Is there anyway to take the wallpaper you have in a layered version and remove a few of the images and swap in a few of my own?? ex. i would take out the facebook logo and put a cartoon pic of my wife/kids for my quick dial apks. etc... anyway, thanks for the heads up!!
adam
EDIT: btw, what widget are you using on the wallpaper that show the 4 day weather icons? (or what widget and theme or icon pack)...thanks in advance
I have been looking for other wallpapers with app images built in and no luck. Any suggestions?

Wouldn't the definition of a donation be giving to a public and/or charitable cause? You aren't offering the wallpapers for free to the community, then allowing people to donate to your cause. If that isn't the case, it sounds like you are charging for a service, not encouraging a donation? Unless you plan on offering the wallpapers to all once the initial request for a custom donation inspired wallpaper is received?

I've been looking also for something like this for quite some time also, as I've been using the blank icons with wallpapers to some extent already, just not all over. Just along the edge like this:
The full setup is attached in the Scrolling 2.0 Theme in my sig which also has links on how to set it up from the original author. I also created some wallpapers other than the honeycomb one. PM me if if you would like to check them out.
Its hard to locate wallpapers with the icons pictures built in as I'm not sure what to search for exactly or what the "official" name of this type of wallpaper/setup is.

I could be wrong about what he's using, but you can achieve the 4 day weather forecast like that with the Beautiful Widget's Beautiful Weather Widget. You just need to download that skin, and then disable todays current weather.
I achieved the same widget look using the Beautiful Weather Widget in the screenshot above. Just changing the skin (the skin you would be looking for to achieve that effect is called BrushedInk&Black), hiding the background, and hiding the current weather. Beautiful Widgets is a paid app, but its worth it for the couple bucks it costs, it looks great and is highly customizable.

I really like this live wallpaper, thanks for sharing.
When I doing some changes in the settings, the app sometime FC.
If you make resizable custom background image it will be perfect, because actually when the custom image not exactly fit on the screen I got black line in the top and bottom.

Hi l3s,
thx for your reply and report.
Wallpaper is made to center all custom images, but im not sure what happened in your case. Nexus 7 is a special case because its high dpi (not many device have 320dpi), anyway i will try to fix this with new update.
Until then, you can try using bigger image, or try to crop that one to 1280x800 resolution.
Hi, i will periodically share some new ideas and screens about different ways to use this live wallpaper, so here's one:
CLOCK MODE
Set font to Android Nation
Set font size to 100 (adjust to screen resolution)
Set Input command "date" (only this command)
Set Word Wrap to true
Set font color, custom image and color filter (optional)
See attachment to check what i got
As i have said before, ill keep posting some "interesting" ways how i use Terminal Live Wallpaper, so heres an update:
Alien mode
1. Set odd looking font, like Alpha Sentury
2. Font size ~140 (more or less)
3. Word wrap true
4. Custom background
5. Set background color filter to black with small transparency (this makes a darker image background)
6. Set font color to gray
7. Put many input commands
Check attachment to see what i got.
Awesome

@Chromium - I love you.
Really nice mate. Got rid of the clock widget and just have weather showing now. Thank you very much it's very unique and looks amazing.

SO AWESOME! Awesome work man, will donate!
Great looking live wallpaper.
Would really like the option to manually set the background colour or alternative image packs.
Finally wallpaper that suits to my own minimal style.. Thank you man!
Thing that I've noticed:
-Number 8 with light font seems to be a bit cropped
Maybe a feature for changing font style with not only two choices , example to Arial, etc
Keep up in good work!
Looks great:
I would like to see smooth transitions between colors.
This isn't as innovative as XDA suggests

Could you add option to hide a clock? (because I'm using a cLock widget and I'd like to have a wallpaper which would change color depend on the time)
This is fantastic idea! I don't know if it's possible but it would be great to see a gradient option. Take for instance, the current color, the previous color, and the upcoming color then make that a gradient that slowly changed from top-to-bottom.
Great app, I will be keeping this ready for a few more options in settings. Hiding the clock would be good, choosing sets of colours e.g. different shades of red/blue etc of multiples of both. Lots of potential on this!
Going to settings crashed the app

Kolorette brings a new context to widgets by implementing contextual color concept established in Google's Material Design!
What is Kolorette??
Kolorette attempts to bring material design's contextual color concept to widget space. It extracts prominent colors from an image and applies it to the widgets. So the widget naturally blends with the image. The image can be wallpaper, album art of song, muzei artwork or hey! any image on your storage!
Top Feature highlights
Clock widget and search widgets that adapt to wallpaper's prominent color - also auto updates when you change wallpaper.
Uses Google's palette library to extract colors. Also get true prominent color of the image.
Also extract from Muzei artwork, any image on storage, and Music Cover.
Use extracted colors in Zooper, Kustom and Tasker (Samples included)
Share an image via Android share menu to quickly extract colors.
Formula to use colors in other apps like kustom easily copy-able.
Copy hex code of extracted colors.

How do I use it out-of-the-box?
After installing kolorette, go to homescreen, add widgets and choose kolorette widgets. There are two widgets provided, clock and search. Once you add, a configuration window opens where you can choose the type of color you want. When you are done, the widget is added to the homescreen. Once added, this widgets adapts to wallpaper beneath it.
Okay, that's cool, but how do I use to create my own widgets that blend in?
Here's where Kolorette's plugin feature comes into play. When it extracts colors it broadcasts the colors to extremely popular apps Zooper, Kustom live wallpaper and Tasker . So you can design your widgets in Zooper or Kustom and color them using the variables Kolorette provides.
Okay what are the variables and how do I use it?
There are several variables for each category. Basically the variable looks like #(W,A,M,I) _ (Swatch name) _ (Body, text). The first WAMI represents wallpaper, albumart, muzei, and image that you choose. The swatch name is explained below. Body or text is an interesting thing, the body color is the color that was extracted, and text color is the color that you can use to display a text over the body color. Kolorette takes care of black or white so you dont have to worry about it!
For example, text color for a yellow color will be blackish so it is visible.
Explain the swatches?
Prominent - true prominent color of the image.
Vibrant - A brighter color picked from the image.
Vibrant Dark - A darker variant of the above color.
Vibrant Light - A lighter variant.
Muted - A dull color to be precise. Usually found on darker images.
Muted Light and Dark - Darker and lighter variants.
Can I do crazy automation stuff using Tasker?
Kolorette plays along with Tasker as well. Tasker is an extremely popular automation app for android. Kolorette exposes itself as two plugins for tasker.
1. Event Plugin:
Kolorette lets tasker know that it has performed an extraction. In addition, it shares the color it extracted with tasker. Then it is upto you to decide what to do with the color!
2. Action Plugin
Action plugin works the opposite way. It is the one in which you ask kolorette to do an extraction for you at will.
Example:
Randomly set a wallpaper and then do a wallpaper extraction.
Download an image from net and do an extraction on that image.
Where can I find samples?
Kolorette provides you with samples for both zooper and kustom. You can see Kolorette listed as a theme pack in both packs. If you open them, you can find sample widgets.
