have i to return to original stock to receive the ota?

Yes, the best and easiest way would be to flash the 4.0.4 factory image.

I would do this. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...20&postcount=1
Just make sure you are choosing the right stock for your phone.
This should clear it up. Then do this to get 4.1.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...postcount=2817

How do I get back to stock kernel?

I am running stock jelly bean rom with air kernel and I want to get back to stock kernel. How would I do that?
Just flash your rom again, no wiping required

Ok so I just flash the last OTA update I had which was the 4.0.4 to 4.1.1 update?
This one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1736645
No, you flash the full ROM. Not just the OTA update.
Where is the full jelly bean 4.1.1 rom? Sorry I couldnt find it.
And are you positive this process doesnt wipe that?
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
Make sure to grab the correct one. Flash with fastboot. Obviously your bootloader has to be unlocked, which I imagine is already the case.
Nothing should be lost as long as you don't wipe data.
Ah so this is what I have to do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1572307
And yes my bootloader is unlocked.
Btw which kernel do you suppose is the closest to stock kernel? The reason why I want to do this is because I wanted to see just how does the stock kernel compare with air kernel but it seems like it isnt as simple a thing as I thought it would be to go back to stock kernel.
as i know there is no stock kernel standalone instalation package. So the only way to get back to stock kernel is to flash the whole ROM again.
For my purposes showed as the best kernel thalamus kernel.
Thanks for all the info guys. I have one more question just for future information purposes. Do you get an OTA update if you are on custom kernel?

I just re-uploaded the ROM with stock kernel on my thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1881858
That will reset your kernel to stock. Sorry I don't have a separate kernel zip to flash.
If I install my compete ROM again (its Cyanogenmod), do I have to install the Gapps again too?

[Q] WW SKU custom rom?

I am thinking of flashing a custom rom tomorrow, but I have got the WW version. Does it matter?
Also which one; JB hydro or Cleanrom?
doesnt matter
All JB Roms are pretty good. Just flash them all and look for yourself

Thanks. I will try hydro.
But is it ok to use twrp 2.3.10 although the OP says 2.2.0.
You can Try. I had some problems with 2.3, so I went back to 2.2

Rsd and ota flash!!!

I have some doubts:
If I install JB by RSD I could update VIA by OTA IN NEXT UPDATE or nevermore?
The JB has problems with games? ( ghost tracer)
and last if I can back to ICS its possible or not?
Thx for answers!!! :good:

1. As long as you are flashing the release JB you should have no issues. If you are using anything like "Safestrap", you will have issues and will need to gop back to a stock recovery.
On the HD devices going back to ICS is as simple as a flash.

Only 4.3 where you only can root that's it because it locked the bootloader, anything else you can root/flash custom rom/kernel/recovery.

What was your previous full rom before you roll back to 4.0 (ICS)? Once you on one of these JB ROM: 4.1/, 4.1.2/ or 4.2.2 you can flash any custom or modded rom.(4.3 or 4.4 custom rom).

[Q] Options for obtaining features/fixes from new OTA if on custom rom?

Noob question alert: How can we get the new OTA features if we are not on stock CM11S? Are they in the CM11 nightlies? I'm on a custom rom (SlimKat) but am willing to use another rom to get the new fixes. I guess I could go back to stock rooted CM11S but wondering if there are any other alternative. Thanks in advance.

CM11 will have these updates. Of course the rom you are on will integrate them but you have to wait for them to update the rom. The choice is yours what you want to do...
