Thought I'd bring this over here as well for all you skyrocketeers...its located in the t-mo themes and apps forum but tried a handful and they look great. I did not come up with these, simply posting the link for easier navigation.

vodaphone uk, original sgs2, gingerbread 3.5

As far as I know its not been released by the oems. I'm not sure how the uk companies handle it but att has to do whatever they want with ics before we get it. I would recommend installing aokp or cm9 if you want ics.

Hi there. I'm new to the Nexus S. Bought a second hand one after my first Android phone (galaxy ace) died due to water damage. After a week of reading I unlocked the bootloader and rooted the phone.
Now here is my question, I am a big fan of PDroid wich currently only runs on gingerbread. I really love the ICS interface but until PDroid can run on ICS I am looking for good deodexed gingerbread Rom. So I would like to ask your opinions on the GB roms.

I tried finding Nexbreed on XDA but the thread was closed due to warez. Did you get it from a different site?
Thanks anyway. Someone else opened a post about GB roms and alot of people are recommending Oxygen so ill have a look there.
I ve downloaded it in Rom Manager. Oxygen is good too but i prefer Nexbreed because for Oxygen you have to wipe cache and i need my cache.
Ah ok.. I never used rommanager because it bricked the galaxy ace. But I'm guessing you can download from within the app. I'll check it out. Thanks!

Rommanager is a great app! I can reflash Cwm from within! So I downloaded nexbreed. I am on ICS 4.0.4 do you know if I their are any issues with downgrading to gb?

Nope just do a full wipe beforehand, ie /system, /data, /boot and then flash it

Bugless Beast and Carbon are both good roms too
Nexbreed is a good one try it out.

Thanks for the input! I'll give it a try tonight.

So I made a PDroid patch, flashed nexbreed had a little problem with super user (didn't seem to work) just reflashed the one I still had from rooting. Flashed PDroid an all works well! Later I will try the other GB roms you all advised but for now nexbreed is looking really fast and stable. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. And let's hope ICS support for PDroid will be out soon

After trying nexbreed for a few days I am happy with it and want to see what else is out there.. I downloaded oxygen and bugless beast but both where odexed. And for PDroid I need a deodexed Rom. So any suggestions for a deodexed gingerbread Rom would be much appreciated
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Seems my PDroid patcher was a bit off, not sure why but no matter what rom I gave it to patch it said it was not deodexed. After reinstalling a different version of PDroid all was good. So I made a successful patch of blandroid and the Pete Crespo rom. I'll have a look at them tomorrow.

Hey I wanted to install cyanogenmod to my Samsung galaxy s went to download the zip file and it says it cannot be found? Is there antithetical download links that are tested and work?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Link for cyanogenmod 7.1
Hi Calum, I can't post links yet but if you search for
[ROM] CyanogenMod 7 for the Samsung Galaxy S II :: V7.1.0 RC1 (9 Oct 2011)
in the search bar for this forum the first page has the download, the link itself doesn't seem to work but the mirror does, also try using the cyanogen mod wiki page if you need help getting it to work, its all there.
enjoy
Thank you for the quick reply but I am looking for the galaxy s Tom not the galaxy s ii rom I tried the mirror for the galaxy s and the file semi-bricked my phone
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Yup, all the mirrors for the official CM7 stable ROMs are dead on the website
Ask your mantainer to reupload it.

Who is my maintainer? And is there any way around this? I put this rom on my san Francisco and I love it

Erm, I don't have your device, so I don't know. Just go to the CM website and it will tell you... the links were down for my Desire S aswell, so I asked our mantainer to reupload it, and he did.
Or why don't you just use the latest RC2? Itsstable.
Yeah, my brother has 7.2 RC2 on his ZTE Blade too. Works great.
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
You can get cyanogenmod in the cyanogenmod site.
Click devices and then choose one of the buils.
RAC!
Is the rc2 better then? And what is it exactly?

well yeah, RC2 is based of CM7.2, stable is only CM7.1.
CM7.2 RC2 has many bug fixes and new tweaks. RC = release candidate, it isn't the final release, but it has potential to be the final release.

I got a link for the 7.1 I didn't like how the status bar had weird looking Widgets and the Samsung launcher had gone and the icons were all stock so I put it back to the stock 2.6 firmware I prefer it

And you are also right. I bet if you used CM for a week, you would love it. And there's something more: you can easily search for package which mirrors are dead by searching for it's md5checksum. For example update-cm-7.1.0-GalaxyS-signed.zip
md5sum: 9b0080373d67fdf1f88c54d08113c9aa
http://www.google.pl/search?q=9b0080373d67fdf1f88c54d08113c9aa&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozillalfficial&client=firefox-a
you need cm7 or cm9
or custom roms with cm9
see here they are two links cyanogenmod.com
Thinking about picking up the sgs3 tom but I was just wondering what the difference between the original dev thread and the other thread. Also what does d2vzw mean. Sorry if someone already asked this ? But I couldnt find it.

D2vzw is the 'name' given to our variant if the s3 to identify it to apps.
Dunno what you mean by your other question.
O ok I was just thinking maybe Verizon put a updated version out cause of the bootloader getting figured out or something. So If I buy a new one I won't be limited on flashing anything right?

From my understanding (and it's very likely that I'm wrong) the idea between the 2 different dev forums is that the regular development forums is for TouchWiz (in this case) based roms and the original development is for aosp roms. However there are aosp roms in the regular forums so you got me!

I think it's more like OG Android Development are those built from source vs. those that are built off of a base which would be the Android Development section.
The difference in the forum is pretty much official vs unofficial. I.e. original would have the actual CM/AOSP/AOKP/MIUI roms and the other forum would have unoffical roms based on those.

Thanks guys for clearing that up. Looking at this forum I've realized y I missed my fascinate so much. Everything is so much easier than HTC rezound right now. Plus so much More development going on right now. I'm excited lol
