Hot on the heels of HTC confirming a Jelly Bean upgrade for select handsets, ASUS released a statement (pasted after the break) assuring tablet owners that all of the company's new tablets, at least, will be upgraded to Android 4.1. So far, the outfit is committing to updating the Transformer Prime, along with the Transformer Pads TF300 and TF700. Though ASUS is careful to say it's considering other devices, it's patently not promising to upgrade the original Transformer or the Eee Pad Slider. No word, exactly, on when owners of those newer devices will get a taste of Project Butter and Google Now, except that it should happen within "the coming months." Hopefully, of course, that's just an outside figure: after all, ASUS isn't known for saddling its tablets with heavily customized skins, which have been known to bog down the upgrade process.
Dear valued ASUS customer,
At ASUS, one of the key commitments we make to our customers is a relentless drive to deliver the best user experience. We constantly strive to achieve this goal through our 'Design Thinking' philosophy that includes regular software and firmware updates for our products.
We are pleased to announce that many of our tablet products are scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1, Jelly Bean. The ASUS Transformer Pad, ASUS Transformer Pad Prime and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity are all scheduled to receive Android 4.1 updates in the coming months. We will provide further guidance on our expected timeframes for these updates near their release.
We are still investigating Jelly Bean updates for other devices, but we are not in a position to confirm whether any other products will be eligible for an update at the moment.
Thank you for your continued support.

Oh snap! Was pretty stoked after seeing that french video earlier with the TF running 3.1 but after reading this I'm super stoked!
Like I said in the other thread on this topic D), if Asus DOES release 3.1 next week, I'll be damned impressed with how they're supporting the Transformer so far. Damned impressed.
i can't wait to get my transformer next week...perfect timing
I just cant see myself ever buying from another company other than ASUS and this is why. coming from a samsung device *and we all know the story with them* and there crappy touchwiz that u automatikly cover up with adw ex or launcher pro. Updates to Samsung phones in the US have mostly been down to the cell companies and not due to Samsumg themselves.

Everyone is anxiously waiting to get the official CynogenMod 9 support for their device to enjoy the taste of vanilla Ice Cream Sandwich.
This Chart will help you calculate the possibility of getting a CM9 update for your device.
So Will you see CynogenMod 9 on your device...???? Let's hear it from the comments....
Thanks for the chart. According to that, we have a 50% chance of getting official CM9. Not exactly the odds we were hoping for.
****ty odds.

It is, although I have a feeling the CM team is being conservative with their likelihood estimates so they won't hype expectations. Even if your device is getting an official ICS update from your manufacturer, they only give you a 75% chance. I can't image CM9 not coming to your device in that situation, so I bet the chances are actually a lot more than 75% for them, and therefore probably more than 50% chance for us (especially with the DHD getting official ICS).
"Does it have dedicated GPU" is the point that ruins the whole chart to me.
Did you ever see a PC powering up and showing something on the screen without any kind of GPU? And where was the screen connected to at that point?
The same applies for phones. Each SoC has its own GPU, good or bad, and such an item in the table makes it more of a joke.

I didn't understand that either. Even the lowly G1 had a dedicated GPU of some kind.

Hello
Im looking to get a tablet and iv noticed that the Galaxy Nexus 7 tablet seems to get some pretty good feedback, and the price seems very nice.
I will most likely use the tablet to watch movies, play games, do school work and surf on the nett a bit.

Yes, yes, yes. Got one for work demo purposes and love it. Going to get one for personal use as well I reckon.
The voices in my head are telling me to buy one, £200 for a tablet with those specs is a bargain, but my wife is telling me no
So far she's winning, but if it had 3G I'd give my works crappy ipad3 back and get myself a nexus7
Yeah, get one .
Nexus 7 is awesome , meanwhile, you can consider Galaxy Note 10

Don't listen to your wife! Nothing good ever came out of listening to your wife / girlfriend.
Be advised...it is not a GALAXY Nexus 7. Galaxy is a Samsung trademark. The tablet is made by Asus. It is just a Nexus 7.
Unless you can get one of the older tablets for much cheaper, N7 is best deal by far.
It is not called GALAXY Nexus 7

This phone is very old man! Development is definitely above average. I would suggest a different phone though as it's outdated and you have much better alternatives. Look for moto g or moto g2(if you can wait)
I will buy this phone because is at $100 dollars and Moto G is at $200.
An underrated classic
I have mine rooted, tweaked and overclocked to 1333 mhz. It's Antutu benchmarking at 13611 which is faster than many medium grade phones coming out now. I also picked up the lapdock from eBay for 60 and ever since I've not been relying on my laptop for writing, emailing, watching movies or surfing the Web ever since. As soon as there is compelling reason I imagine I'll try upgrading to kitkat but it's running so smooth fast and solidly now I'm afraid to risk it. Be advised however, the kitkat and jellybeans ROMs break the HDMI function I. E. Lapdock-ability.

You will run into battery issues which is not a happy thing when you buy a new phone. Seriously, even though the hardware is still good, the age of the phone is more than 3 years. It was made for android 2.3... and barely got ICS update officially. There should be better investment for $100.
I finally buy a Moto G in my country (Chile) for $150

Specs and Developer ordering info direct from manufacturer
Time to get in on the ground floor!
So what will you do?
Withe the changes to Android L, would you still consider a device such as this?
Looks like an interesting device, but the website mentions it will only be sold to approved companies. Not too much of an issue because I think the Z4 will have pretty much these exact specs. I think that will be the first big brand device with an 810? Rumours say it will be announced early January and available in March.

I'm mostly basing that on this leak: http://www.androidorigin.com/sony-xperia-z4-specs-leak-4gb-ram-z3x-exmor-exclusive/
810, 2560x1440 screen, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage. Not sure on the huge array of sensors but I suppose it will sport most of what the Qualcomm phone does.
Found this little ditty
The first Snapdragon 810 smartphones should make a first appearance during CES 2015, coming from some of the most important manufacturers. To be more specific, the LG G4, HTC One M9 or Samsung Galaxy S6 could use it, the latter being less likely, as Samsung seems to be preferring their home-mad Exynos.

If LG doesnt lock the bootloader again this will be a killer device and i would buy one most definitely.
If they do lock it, another paperweight for many of us
