It seems that Google are wasting no time in getting the development kit for the latest version of Android into the hands of developers.
Less than a month after Android 4.1 was announced at Google I/O, the new SDK allows developers to optimize their applications with a wide variety of new features.
Among the things Google have warned developers to look out for is taking care when optimizing a particular application to work with the larger 7 inch screen size, such as the one found on the Nexus 7.
The Google devs also urge application developers to start taking advantage of the new richer notification styles introduced in JB, as well hardware accelerated rendering to take advantage of the new framerate optimizations.
For more info on developing for Android 4.1, check out Android Developers. Meanwhile, the new SDK can be downloaded from here.

[Game] Release of WarMUX to the market

I've seen some people discuss about Worms and equivalent on Android phones, so I thought I could mention the release of my game, WarMUX, on the market. In addition, as the game is GPL-licensed, maybe this will foster some attention from fellow developpers

As I'm a new user, I can't post a link, but a search on the market should quickly bring it up.
It is not obvious to see the current problems due to the sometime strange behavior from users, but here's some of the main complains about it:
Big data size / slow download of said size
Somewhat slow depending on device
Requires at least 480x320 phone
Not fully thought for touchscreen
Unobvious gameplay (from people not checking the integrated help)
Please note that, although network games are possible, there are very few players nowadays, and that you can difficultly compete against players using actual mouse & keyboard.
nice game,reminds me of worms
looks good. downloading it right now

[APP CONCEPT] Rom manager redesign.

so i was keeping this to myself as it was going into real development as a new application but before it really took off its development has died so i thought id show you all what i was working on.
basically i wanted an app that would bring roms, kernels and their developers to the forefront; at the same time providing a way to manage your currently installed configs, in a similar fashion to rom manger.
seeing as development has died i've decided to share this as an idea on how 'I' would like to see a rom manager application look. the app was heavily inspired by the google card UI and the android play store. hope you like it and if anyone would like to use the concept be my guest.
i think the images below is pretty self explanatory so enjoy.
EDIT: sorry about the huge image size.

Android Software Survey Software

Hi
Recently wrote and launched today some free software that enumerates all the Android devices submitted to the app.
It uploads some (anonymous) information on your hardware build and downloads the complete list of hardware seen (and ordered by popularity).
It was a weekend project thought may be helpful and useful to android curious people
Pictures only show the first four devices added as just launched today.

Basically can give us an idea of all the hardware out there.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.ryer.droid.PM5
Contains NO advertising or spyware crap very simple lean and mean.. simply adds up all devices submitted. Only requires internet PERMISSION and that is simply used to push your phone data once and pull the database whenever you need it.
Hoping by people using this we can build a full and complete picture of Android devices worldwide.
Any help on the project appreciated will place the code on github in the next few days.

[APP][1.0+] Dark Dimension Launcher

Hello everyone! This is Tom, I'm an android developer and new to these forums.
Around Easter I decided to make a new Launcher for android because the one I was using was slow and annoying. For this reason I created this launcher and I tried to make it as small as possible and consume as little battery as possible, for this reason it has a very simple appearance.

Using this app is simple: The screen is parted on a selected number of categories (defined by the user) each category has a name and up to 6 apps assigned. Launching one of those apps is a matter of seconds!
This app can run perfectly from android 1.0+, it is tested on android 2.3 and android kitkat although it should work perfectly on lollipop as well, and it's only ~80kb in size (depends on device).
Because I'm new I can't upload link in Play Store, so I attached the apk with this post.
I welcome all feedback for it!
Thanks a lot for your time!
