There is a wired problem on my nexus s after updated to 4.1.1 OTA(stock).
Wifi is working fine after boot, but after i turn it off for a long time, it just can't be turned on, stuck at Obtaining IP Address.
The encrypt mode of my router is WPA-PSK, DHCP on.
Normally I restart the system to fix it... now that I try to set wifi to static IP rather dhcp after the problem happens again, and it is connected right away. I couldn't figure it out why the dhcp is working after boot but failed after I shut the wifi down for a long time? and when I can't obtaining ip address, i go into the router and found that the router already give the phone a ip...
Is anyone else encountered the same problem? Is there a way to fix it permanently? I don't want to set the static ip every time when i get out and use other access point...
and the phone's wifi is always working fine on this router, same settings, so it shouldn't be the router's problem...
P.S this problem happens on legolas93's aosp version and previews SDK ported version(one with SP4), i thought i could be the bug of their rom but this even happened in the official rom..
I'm not sure why you're getting a WiFi problem. I'm running an official ROM and everything seems to be working perfectly. Did you wipe data/factory reset and format /system /cache /boot /sdcard? This completely cleans the phone out so when you install a new ROM, its like that's the only ROM that's that's ever been on the phone.

I'm sure i did the full wipe and flashed the official rom of 4.0.3, ota to 4.0.4, installed the official 114mb ota pack of 4.1.1.
The wifi problem only happens when it's turned off for a long time like more than an hour and on a WPA-PSK encrypted router.
I had this same problem when running stock GB that came with the phone. It seems to be a problem with Android in general, not just that ROM. I used an app called Wifi Fixer (play.google[DOT]com/store/apps/details?id=org.wahtod.wififixer&hl=en I'm new ) in the play store to work around it. It doesn't fix it but it detects any issues with a wifi connection and resolves it.
That whole issue is a pain in the rear. The only time I completely fixed it was when I switched to a new ROM.

wasnt really sure how to title this...
But recently i lost wifi connectivity when applying a few mods, so i removed them & was able to reconnect... sort-of...
1.) in the 'WiFi options" it says im connected, the icon in the notification bar shows im connected and drops mobile-data... but when trying to do anything that involves the internet: Reddit, Youtube, Phandroid, XDA, Pulse-News, ect... i have no connection... But what's weird is, is that when i run a speed test, it gets signal and runs the test just fine. Also And-SMB connects, as well as Fing, and Network-Info-2. they all get an IP and mac address... WTH!?
2.) when turning on the WiFi, it will say "obtaining IP address" after about a minute or so of that, it drops to "remembered" then tries rescanning, and tries to connect again, then drops it again... and this will go on forever, untill i shut the wifi off...
------------------
tried running Qkster's-WiFi-Fix (in CWM) to see if that would fix anything... still in the same boat...
- any suggestions?
What Rom are you running? It seems the mods borked it. Try reflashing

wifi fix sometime works...sometimes not.
this wifi issue is seen when switching between rom with changes to file system.
won't see it with eman to aeon or zeus.
will see it with stock rfs to voodoo ext4. cm9 ext4 to cm10 mtd. cm10 Mtd to gb rfs or ext4. etc.
good wipes and factory, data reset helps.
if you wipe and reset and reflash and it didn't help, you will need to Odin or heimdall to stock with repartition

well the Wifi-Fix seemed to fix it, but ive been running on MoM since 1.3 hit the lot. and there is a weird issue that when the phone first boots, the icons in the noti-bar are blue, then after the device goes to sleep or sits idle for too long, they wont turn back to blue... mobile-data continues to work and everything runs prefect, but wifi wont connect unless i either reboot, or set in airplane-mode for 20+ seconds, then swap strait to wifi from there.. and once the wifi is connected, it shuts off completely if i let the phone go to sleep.

Almost same here, I'm currently on unmodified 8/16 with inverted apps but the WiFi & Bluetooth is not functioning as it was back on MIUI v4. It started from the first flash of JB 4.1.1 CM10 and continued till now.
I tried ODIN back to stock roms using .pit with both FROYO, GB and a few different ROMs back and forth already with no luck. flashed back to CM10 from ICS following directions EXACTLY (the flashing instructions are crystal clear to me and I'm confident that I followed them 100% each time). Tried a few wifi fix apps already. Nothing worked.
Unlike others, at least on CM10 the wifi sometime (!rarely, when I press wifi ON from settings and keep it sitting for a long time like overnight ! and wifi does NOT switch on every time) comes to life and finds my DHCP enabled netgear router at home, but as I put my WPA2-PSK security code it accepts then just sits there saying remembered/saved. No connection done or getting IP address, nothing. Tried the same without security also. Can't browse either.
I can see the wifi MAC id in the settings though, NOT the network IP, can't set direct IP. Most interesting part is that it scans and finds networks as mentioned above. So, can't say the hardware is broken !!
i am running AOSP EB v4.0.4 latest build. when i flashed v4 last month i started having this strange problem whenever i turn wifi on. the wifi appears to complete the connection then immediately drops it and retries the connection.
i thought it was the old baseband (since the installer offers support for both old and new BB's) so i upgraded to the march 2012 BB tonight and reflashed from scratch...same problem. i checked but there are no new software updates for my router so i'm ruling that out.
any ideas? considering my phone is literally empty of all files i cannot see what the difficulty may be.

when i turn on wifi, select my router and enter passcode it starts thisloop. i can see it go through all the init steps of establishing a connection. once it is done literally the next step is to start the whole process over again reconnecting from scratch to the router.

you dont have to clear everything twice only the once when u flash your rom, and then go straight to flashing gapps. that shouldnt affect the problem your having but try flashing another rom and then EB AOSP again and see if it works i know that EB doesnt have wifi problems cause i used it before.
Might be nothing more than a weak wifi signal or a confused router. Occasionally get this behavior on my stock g2x with all updates. Try logging on from a location closer to the router. Unplugging the router to let it reboot also sometimes solves the problem.

Ok guys. Flashed cm11 3 days ago and everything has been working great. Woke up this morning and i get no wifi signal. Wifi is on but it picks up no wifi signals. I am in a spot where there are 5 to 6 wifi always available and none are showing. Any guesss as to why I no longer receive wifi signals into my phone? I was hoping just maybe switching from dalvik to art would fix the solution but it did not. I am hoping this is just a simple fix. I guess i could just reflash cm11.

reflashing cm11 did not fix issue. when refreshing wifi i get : WPS has failed error.......
Try updating your build. If that doesn't work then I would do a clean flash of a "Stable build".

lost root that was the issue
My issue was not the wifi it was i lost root updating to 11.0. I tried using super su to get my root back and when i did it caused me to lose wifi. It did not get my root back either. I can reflash with factory reset and get everythign working like it should, but root is gone. Flashing the newest super user does not fix the issue. I think my only option to get root is to go back to factory and re-root and then start from scratch.

WPS Failed
I've never had WiFi on CM 11 and did a clean wipe to fix it on an earlier nightly. Even the Snapshot build did not fix it for me.
Is there any fix out there?
So, after I flashed Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 for my Tab 2, it cannot connect to my wifi. I flashed it with the proper procedures, like wiping Data and Dalvik cache, I've installed the Nightly builds to try to eliminate the problem and they kept crashing, so I reverted back to 10.1.3 and still no connection. I've reset my router and made sure that my password was right. Now I have no clue what to do next
Forgive me if this is in the wrong place, I've just signed up today.

Charge your tab to aprox 70% or more and Try this:
1-download a STOCK firmware file from the internet for your region( the region thing is not necessary, but just for the sake of it )
2- boot into recovery
3- wipe data/flactory reset
4- wipe cache
5-wipe dalvik
6-format /system
7- boot into download mode and flash the STOCK firmware file using ODIN.
i am assuming you have used ODIN before in this case... if you have not, then:
1-download ODIN ( http://samsung-updates.com/Odin307.zip )
2-make sure you have the correct drivers installed
3-connect the device ( in the text box, it should say added)
4- click on the pda option and select the firmware file ( make sure ONLY auto reboot and F.reset time are checked )
5- click on START button to flash the file.

I don't think its a ROM related issue. There must be some issue with your router itself... try resetting your router and change WPA/WPA2 password once...and reconnect again with new password. give me a feedback so that i can help you further.

I also changed the my encryption from WPA to WPA2 and used Wifi Manager from an apk. The one from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kman.WifiManager
It came in a apk that i moved to my tablet to install. Still doesn't work.
I'm losing hope.
I am having the same issue for about a week now. It does not appear to be router related, or software related either.
We have two P3113 tablets in the house, and when mine went wonky - set my daughter's with same software and her's connects without issue.
Rooted, not rooted, stock recovery or custom. Stock software from 4.0.4 to 4.2.2 and custom ROM's as well. Currently running CM 11 on both. One connects while the other does not
I think it may be hardware related

Your problem might be related to duplicated mac addreses. Could you check if both tabs have different mac addresses.
This also counts for all others, check if there are no other devices with the same mac.
When I was building CM for both my Xperia L & Tab, they both got the same mac address because they where build on tbe same host.

Hello,
I'm new to posting on the forums but here is my issue. I am currently running cyanogen snapshot M4 and I tried to upgrade to the new nightlies. When I enter my wifi password and press connect, it says connecting... for a long time and just resets and continues this in an endless loop. Although open wifi networks work fine. Is there a fix to this? (Currently running CWM-touch recovery on my Moto g)

Is a full wipe = a factory reset and cache wipe/davlik wipe through clockwork mod. Also M5 and M6 crash when I do a reboot saying com.google.systemui is not responding. I think it has something to do with the themes. But the nightlies work fine except for the wifi. I can connect to open networks with the nightlies but secured networks do not work.

Philz recovery has a specific wipe-in-preparation-for-flashing-rom option (forgot what it's called). Anyway, a full wipe will wipe system/data/cache partition if memory serves.
Try setting a static IP and connecting to a secured network that way (i.e. no DHCP). I read about a bug in an unofficial CM11 M10 build that meant DHCP-with-WPA2 didn't work. Might be a workaround.
Edit: The static IP needs to be in the address range of the secured network you're trying to join for this to work
