I'd like to introduce everyone to a unique music player app that I've developed called "Music Player (Remix)". I started developing it 4 years ago as a homebrew app on the old webOS platform. It quickly became the most downloaded homebrew webOS app. I eventually released it into the official webOS app catalog and it became the #4 top-rated app (#1 in the Music category).
As a user, I moved to Android over 2 year ago and of all the apps I missed on webOS, the biggest one was my own being someone who loves listening to music all the time (at work, in the car, at home, doing the lawn, etc). I tried out all the other music apps, and they all had their positive points, but none of them had the unique features I put into Music Player (Remix). So eventually I decided to build my own app porting over a lot of the features in the webOS version that users on that platform loved, but added a lot of new features and changed the overall user interface. Now everything is just a swipe away, even when you're not in the app! (read below for details).
When developing the app, I really wanted to think outside-of-the-box when coming up with the best way to do things in a music app. As a result, Music Player (Remix) has a lot of features and design concepts that you won't find in any other music app, but when you experience them you'll wonder how you ever lived without them.
Here's a list of some of the biggest features:
- Large, finger-friendly controls on phones and tablets. Tap the top of the album art to pause/play. Tap the bottom-right to go to the next track. Tap the bottom-left to go to the previous track.
- While using other apps, swipe from the bottom of the screen to reveal the "mini-player" allowing you to control your music & access your now playing list, playlists, and faves without leaving other apps.
- Notification when new songs are added to your device (can be disabled).
- Intuitive swipe navigation and gestures:
* Swipe from bottom for the Now Playing list and music controls.
* Swipe from right for your music library, search, help, preferences, and aesthetic customizations.
* Swipe from left for faves, playlists, and autolists.
* Swipe right on a song in the Now Playing list to remove it. Swipe left to queue it to play next. (customizable)
* Swipe right on a song in a playlist to remove it. Swipe left to move it to the top of the list. (customizable)
- Auto-generated playlists (called "Autolists") available based upon your listening habits.
- 5 customizable quick shortcuts at the top of the Now Playing screen. Assign various functions to each one included Add to Playlist, Save bookmark, Lyrics, Share song, View YouTube video, and much more.
- All screens are optimized for portrait & landscape orientations.
- The Now Playing screen has been optimized for 7" & 8.9"/10" tablets. (Eventually will be modifying all the app's screens)
- All library browsing screens have several display & sorting options.
- Save bookmarks in a song & visual markers will appear on the scrubber bar. Tap prev/next to jump between bookmarks or use the "View Bookmarks" option to select a bookmark.
- Any time you play a song, a bookmark is automatically saved when you leave the song. To go back to the previous play position in a song, use the "View Bookmarks" option.
- Download album art for any song or album. Select from several choices with different image resolutions. Album art is embedded directly in the music files.
- Download lyrics and embed directly in the music file (or optionally save in an external text file). Pinch/zoom the lyrics to change the font size. Karaoke feature for recording yourself singing along.
- Advanced playlist management including drag/drop song re-ordering & multi-add mode. While in multi-add mode, go to any screen within the app and tap songs/albums/artists/genres/composers to quickly add them to the playlist.
- In-app wikipedia browser available for albums, artists, genres, and composers.
- Jellybean expandable notifications with super-sized album art and music controls.
- 5 band equalizer with built-in presets, bass boost, and virtualizer.
- Last.fm scrobbling with caching during internet outages (no external app required to be installed for scrobbling).
- Stylish 4x1 & 4x2 home screen widgets with customizable color & opacity.
- Various lock screen control options including basic controls (ICS+), advanced mini-player controls (ICS+), or the 4x2 widget (Android 4.2+).
- Fine-tuned controls for quickly skipping backward & forward by 5/30/60 seconds. Long-tap the pause/play tap area to reveal (or hide) the controls.
- And much, much more!!!

He says it's in the google play store.
The forum rules at the top of this forum section indicate your can't post links to your app if it's commercial. So I didn't post the link. The trial version is free, so am I allowed to post a link to that?
But anyway, you can find it in the Google Play Store or Amazon App Store by searching for "Music Player (Remix)".

Thanks! I wasn't sure how to interpret the rules, so I erred on the safe side. Right now I can't post links anyway due to my limited post count, but once my account gets upgraded/updated, I'll post the link to the trial version.
But in the meantime, please search for "Music Player (Remix)" in the Play Store and you should find the trial version. Try it out and let me know your impressions in this thread.

Version 1.4.3 has been released to the Google Play Store and Amazon App Store. It has a new autolist called "Breath of Fresh Air" that allows you to play a random mix of songs you haven't played recently. It also contains a bunch of bug fixes.
The 14-day free, fully-functional trial version is being reset for all users!
Here's the complete changelog:
- (New Feature) Add 'Breath of Fresh Air' autolist (random mix of songs not recently played).
- (Bug Fix) NuPlay new song notifications sometimes did not appear immediately on certain devices.
- (Bug Fix) If the 'Auto play when loading app' setting was selected (on the 'Miscellaneous' Preferences screen) and you switched orientations while the music was paused, the music would resume playing.
- (Bug Fix) The basic lockscreen controls would sometimes still appear even after disabling them or even killing the app.
- (Bug Fix) If you switched to a bookmark from the widget or notification controls and then brought up the mini-player, the song/album/artist info would be blank.
- (Bug Fix) Fixes for various causes of app crashes.
- (Bug Fix) Users in a restricted profile under Android 4.3+ may not have access to all apps (such as a web browser), so before launching an external app (for instance to view a web page), verify the user has access to that external resource. If not, display an error.

Thanks, let me know what you think.
Immediate reaction... Its really good  the options given are so much I need some days to fully check it out properly
Just one suggestion for now... I missed the play/pause and next/ previous song buttons. Then I found out it was hidden in the album art. A small downfall there.. And when I first opened the app... The music directly started blasting ( a heavy metal one ) and I freaked out. ( was alone in a dark room... Imagine my horror!! )

Yeah I plan on adding a welcome screen to introduce users to the user interface. But I figure most people like you figure out where the controls are.
Yeah the first time you load the app, it starts a "Shuffle All" list. It won't auto-play on subsequent loads, unless you turn the option on via the Preferences screen (tap the gear icon at the top of the right-side sliding panel).
I'd still prefer a seperate play/pause and prev/next buttons.

You have them, but they're incorporated on the album art for 2 reasons:
1) The controls are much larger (finger-friendly). It's so easy to use without even looking at the screen. Really nice in the car (when docked).
2) Removing the separate controls allows room for the customizable preset controls for one-touch access to your favorite functions (bookmarks, lyrics, album art downloading, youtube videos, album & artist search, etc.)
When designing this user interface I wanted to think outside of the box. Give it a try and I think you'll really like it once you use it awhile.
I guess it was in the opening post
Didn't read it well will see it through and nice thought

Have a bit of dilemma...
Hi, I'm using your app as of now (while typing this post) and it's pretty great, but..
But when I press the Next button on Album Art, sometimes the music forwards due to pressing the music time-line (or what you might call it) accidentally. Also true and vice-versa with the Previous button.
Any fix and/or suggestion pal?

Are you talking about the fine-tuned controls (5sec, 30sec, 60sec backward/forward)? If so, just long-tap the pause/play section of the album art to toggle those controls.
If you're talking about the scrubber bar, it shouldn't be anywhere near the album art...at least not close enough to affect the controls. If it is on your device, please post a screenshot (or send me one to hedami DOT support AT gmail DOT com).

Beatlight can visualize and recognize songs that are playing around you. For a better party experience press the lightning button and prepare for a flashing strobe light effect in sync with the beats of music.
Some features:
• Visualizer gets sound data from microphone and synchronizes with music.
• Strobe light effect using device flash in sync with music beats.
• Music recognition mode where you can search and identify the song you like.
• History list of recognized songs.
• Identified song can be previewed.
• Listen recognized songs on streaming services like Spotify, Deezer and Youtube.

Any feedback is welcome
it would be good if you change Song Visualizer name to some other convenient name, by the word people should recognize that this app for what purpose

I used shazam only once and did not have the option of the visualization but it gave me the option to download the song directly from the app and much more info, on the other hand beatfind uses less resources of the internet so it is more likely to work with a slower connection
Thanks! Really great job. Looks good, and the recognition works well
I am an active Shazam user and I tried to use Beatfind instead of it. Here some my minds about the recognition/visualizer
I always use the app in the car, when I drive somewhere and listen to a radio. I put my phone in a phone holder and use the recognition if I hear nice music.
1) I didn't understand the "thunder" button. I don't know what happens after a tap on it)
2) I always missed the search button, the list button, the settings buttons, and went to fullscreen(it was really annoying). I guess it would be better if you increase padding around them.
3) It was a little bit complicated to search for songs because I needed to press the search button (see #2 ) and then press another button again. It would be easy to start the search in the main screen in one click (for example to the "thunder" button)
4) It's unclear how to exit from the fullscreen mode. You can tap on any space and go to the fullscreen mode, but if you tap anywhere again you will not exit from it
5) After some conditions, I saw the search button under the bottom thunder button, but, unfortunately, I can't reproduce it again. (
6) Finally, it would be really nice if you add the Google play music to the list of searched songs.
This is just my opinions, so sorry if something wrong
cool
very interesting application
