No, I just plugged it in, all I had to do was config keys in emulator. The controller is just a 360 remote, a regular wired 360 remote would work as well.

Apparently the Nokia CA-157 can work just as well for the TG01
This is probably the easiest replacement to get hold of, original TG01 accessories are hard to come by and not cheap either.
awesome, thanks saw those coming up on ebay but wasn't sure of compatability

A couple of other items now on eBay.....
State compatible - provided they are wired as a uUSB A type plug (ie. Pin 4 and 5 shorted) then should be fine.

Yes, the Nokia's CA-175 is working well without any drivers. Keybord, mice or external hdd.

Many thanks for the information - that's very helpful. I'm also most impressed that you have been able to get the 1.8" HDD to run happily directly off the TG01 without running into problems with its ability to supply sufficient power !
Best regards,
Kevin
About ability to connect stuff to our beloved TG01, I've been able, using a 4-way usb splitter (with external power, though), to connect simultaneously mouse, keyboard and usb hard disk. Tg01 rocks!

I think the main thing is that it be USB OTG. There is a huge thread somewhere discussing this topic. Based on that thread, I ordered one of these and am hopeful that it will work properly.

Go to Best Buy. It's $20. You'll find it in the Xoom accessories!

The only one guaranteed to work is called the Motorola Camera Kit, and consists of a small adapter (3-4") referenced in the post above. There are others advertised as OTG cables/adapters) but they're pretty hit or miss.

[Q] Twitter Application & Other Question

I recently purchased a Motorola XOOM for a great bargain price and I've got it all customized the way I like it. However, there are a few things I'm wondering about that hopefully a senioer XOOMER can answer for me.
1. What would you say the best Twitter application for an Android tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich is? I've taken a look at a lot of them (TweetCaster, Plume, TweetComb) and most of them fall short or have slow dreadful user interfaces.
What would you say is the best?
I originally had plans to use the Seesmic Twitter application (shown below) however it isn't available and we haven't heard anything about it for a year now.

}
2. What game controllers are compatible with the Motorola XOOM? I'm looking to play some games on the XOOM and I tried using a wireless XBOX 360 remote with a USB cable into my USB host cable but it didn't work.
I purchased this device (DealExtreme) and when I plug a USB key in or a USB mouse it is deteced so I'm guessing it works, but now I just need to know what game controllers work.
3. What other tablet specific applications (preferably Ice Cream Sandwich designed) would you suggest I get?
Completely different note; is it just me or does the 8tracks application not work on the Motorola XOOM?
Thanks
I just use the standard twitter app from the store and as for controllers theres a guide on here how to set up a ps3 pad on xoom
Sent from my Xoom using XDA
Thanks.
Any USB gamepads will work. The Xbox controller needs drivers for the wireless dongle. Also, PS3 + Wii controllers also work.
As far as apps.. Evernote, Quickoffice HD (or similar), perhaps..

[Q] Nvidia Grid With Alternate controller?

I'm just trying to see if anyone else has gotten Nvidia grid to work with an alternate controller. I bought the Moga Pro to try and use with it but it's a no go for me. It keeps saying to connect a controller which is frustrating when one is connected. I'm guessing they mean connect our proprietary controller. If anyone has a work around I'd really like to know what it is. I'm running the stock shield tablet no root or unlock BL, any info is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I have a MOGA Pro Power and works perfect. Do you use it on B mode?
Moga Pro should work in mode b, which is standard HID mode. Don't even need the moga software on you shield.
I've played with the OUYA controller for a long time. May be there's something in the MOGA settings...
I originally bought the Playpad Pro and it worked but there was lag due to the bluetooth connection. I switched to the Nvidia controller and it's basically zero lag now.

infrared blaster for headphone jack

Hi.
Did anybody tried to use an IR blaster adapter for the headphone jack and can tell me if it works or not?
Thank you
I did. Had the Baseus 3.5 jack IR blaster. Didn't work at all, not sure if it's the jack or the unit itself that's the problem though.
That said, I ordered the Baseus Type-C version to replace the 3.5mm unit and that one is working perfect so I didn't pursue the matter with the 3.5mm version further.
Here's the one that I'm using right now if anybody's interested:

I've only really tested it with the manufacturer recommended ZaZa Remote, but thankfully it works relatively well. Theoretically it should work just as well with other Remote apps that support a USB (well OTG) blaster though, if there are any out there.
Word of advice though, the silicone cover that the thing comes with is rather loose. Even though it comes with a keychain, do resist the temptation to put it with your keys - unless you're better then I am at taking care of your keys lol.
