I liked playing around with App Inventor on my OG Motorola Droid and my Droid Incredible, but now I've got the Rezound.
I did a hefty google search for the App Inventor drivers for the Rezound, along with this forum and HTC's site, but came up with nothing useful. Maybe someone here is a better googler than me, or already has the drivers?

Just curious whether you folks at XDA will be adding a forum/subforum for the Droid?
im just guessing this wont happen. this site modify phones by htc only.
yeah, like the HTC Palm Treo and the HTC Sony Ericcson X1, like he said

Actually, pretty sure HTC did manufacture the Xperia. The Treo on the other hand...
Anyway, I think it would be a shame to miss out on the Droid rush. It's going to be the biggest Android phone this year (if not longer) and will probably spawn a whole new wave of development.
HTC did manufacture the X1 and the Treo.
Historically, XDA-Developers has been HTC only. This is really crappy because there are other devices out there that could benefit this community if the forum sections were created. The Motorola Droid is one of them.
I'd love to see that happen
Since I just picked one up.

That's probably covered under the Hero subforum, since it's basically another CDMA HTC Hero.

I'm going to be really upset if my favorite XDA devs won't be working on the Droid platform.. I LOVE it and it's the first handset that can handle those crazy ROMs.
HTC Hero UI on Droid?
I just got a Moto Droid the other day over the Eris due to its keyboard and hardware specs...
BUT, the Eris has a much nicer UI (Home Screen, Contacts, Widgets etc) thanks to HTC (as usual)
Because both the devices are Android (however different versions from what I understand), is it possible to get the Widgets and Home screen from the Eris on the Droid??
I am obviously new to Android and have typically been a Windows Mobile user (Used the HTC TouchFlo on the Omnia and what not), and would really like to continue to use HTC's UI's on my Droid.
Do you think this is possible, and if so perhaps this particular topic could be a forum dedicated to it on XDA

The hero widgets are highly coupled with the framework of the device. Therfore if you wanted to run them they just simply wont work. There is a 3rd party alternative called beautiful widgets for $0.99 cents of the android market.
I have also picked up a Droid and want to see it here, until the Leo comes out this is the Android phone to have.
Ditto! Ditto! Ditto!
Agreed, lets hack this phone wide open even if it's not htc!
many unique problems for this platform, especially if you really want SenseUI.
Me personally, I'd rather see a Cyanogen build...but we need root first and foremost...and a good recovery img.
Screen capture of Droid Bootloader is here.

We are not that far, with the help of XDA team we could get there so fast.
Just so you all know... Alldroid.org supports the Droid... we're also getting clues on how to root it!!!
PLEASE
I would really like to see a Droid/ any other andorid phone sub forum. this site has the most expansive wealth of information and i feel that having XDA as a resource for Droid users would greatly advance the android platform.
TO XDA: i know you folks only do HTC phones but please, listen to the community so other members can help us out. just so you know all other fourms related to the DROID are disasters!! help we the droid users!
i second this request!
Yes please. Expand your views. It's not only HTC thats interesting
I know there are a lot of "droid" phones out there, but the only one I call a droid is the motorola version. Anyway, I'll get to the point...
Has anyone thought about what it would take to bring motoblur to the droid? It looks interesting, but I'm not buying a new phone just to check it out. Considering what has already happened with the droid (custom roms, rooting) I don't think its impossible.
What do you guys think about the idea? Cool? Dumb? Interesting? Waste of time??

i know a group is already working on it over at zeusdroid they are the ones working on the desire port to the droid.
I just got an x10 and I was hoping to be able to listen to death.fm ( http://loudcity.com/stations/death-fm/files/show/index.htm ) anyone know how I can do it ?
step by step how i did it...
signed up for and installed appbrain and fast installer at appbrain.com (unncessary...easier to search from computer and keyboard than touchscreen for me)
installed "Fox to Phone" for firefox (unnecessary but saves me from having to type the whole link lol)
installed chrome to phone
installed a online radio ala AppBrain's link (can also be searched and found in the android market)
went to loudcity.com/stations/death-fm/files/show/index.htm
right clicked the VLC aacplus link and selected send to phone (can also manually enter 'hxxp://loudcity.com/stations/death-fm/files/show/aacplus-lo.pls' [replace hxxp with http] into a online radio application under "add station")
and it played.

Read the subject line.
Ya dude you are right, I did make the mistake X_X, didn't even notice.
Thanks mindchild... seems like a ton of work, but I will try it out !
Use the free 'TuneIn Radio' app from the market. It has the station.

I was under the impression that Droid was Verizon's branding of their flagship Android smartphones, regardless of manufacturer.

Ya your right there is the Motorola Droid, HTC Droid ERIS, HTC DROID Incredible, Droid X, and now the Motorola Droid 2.
Verizon uses the term "Droid" (licensed from lucas arts) to help sell their Highe-end android phones and they are the only ones you'll see using the name DROID to sell phones
Verizon has this thing about renaming all the manufatures phones to make it sound better for sales
would you rather buy a Milestone or Droid (identical). one just has a cooler or lamer name LOL
Tune in is awesome but cant see who is playing, sad

I am just starting to develop apps for android and was looking at getting a dev account. My biggest reason at this moment to get one would be to buy a google dev phone, as there is no way im posting my "Hello World" app up on the market. My question is what is the current google dev phone and is it like any phones that are currently out. I know it used to be the nexus one but they received their last shipments of these almost 8 months ago.
Any help would be great!
Thanks
I'm a registered developer and google offers the nexus one as developer phone (530$ as I remember). If you'd like you can buy the Nexus S which is in the same price. What's the difference between these two phones and any other android phones? Maybe the faster updates, and the support

I'm switching over from an HTC Pure (win mob 6.5). I've been watching Android and am dying to get going with it. But before making the plunge, I'm curious on the phone.
1) If HTC does not provide Android 2.4 upgrades or beyond, will the custom ROMs offering 2.4 allow the Google Marketplace to work? I ask this because the HTC Pure Android ROM doesn't offer Marketplace because of incompatibilities with a non-Android phone.
2) Will Skype work on it? I've been holding out for an HTC with a front-facing camera to do video Skype like iPhone offeres. But, that doesn't seem to ever be an option for HTC users... always a back-side camera only deal.
3) I know the Netflix isn't available for Android yet. But, does anyone have input on this CPU being on the supported list for the Netflix app that does come out?
Belongs in general. Wrong place my friend

lrs421 is correct, moved to general as not android development
Agreed, I apologize and I thought I was on the general thread. Guess I posted on the wrong Firefox tab. Thanks for moving it to the right forum.
First of all the pure sucked so this is godsend compared to the pure. Just get and see for yourself.

I agree that the Pure is crap. But, what about the proposed questions above? I'm wanting to go in knowing what I'll be capable...

Sure um well lets see...
1. Absolutely however 2.4 is a ways off and 2.3 has yet to be officially released for inspire (summer i think). In other words don't worry about it unless you intend on rooting and flashing but as far as I know most if not all roms support marketplace.
2. Skype app should work but you kind of answered your own question. Why would you attempt to video conference on a phone without a front facing camera? I had iphone 4 and hardly used facial time, it was more like "cool i can see you" and um you look exactly the same as I saw you last.
3. Yes as far as I know all snapdragon processors should be supported.
Like I said before this phone is worlds better than the pure (I had one). If you just want a phone for pure (no pun intended) functionality then get an iphone 4. But if you want a phone you can hack and customize, with tons of potential and great specs then definitely get the inspire. I hope that helps
all custom ROMs still support the marketplace with no issues. so you have nothing to worry about.
Loving this purchase! Only have one problem with the thing...
