Does anyone know of a working root method that works on a Mac for a Verizon SGS3?
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3
Omg SEARCH!!! there are at least 5-7 open threads about this bro. Short answer: it doesn't work on any s3 U.S. variant until heimdall releases update to support it
Tried!

Hey i was going to ask that! lol I tried using VBox but no good even on multiple versions of windows and as both VMs/Harddisk ways.
Connecting android and apple devices together should be outlawed!!
I have all Apple & Hackintosh computers and I just used my Parallels VM with Win7 and Odin with no problems to root, flash and recover. I know it's not the answer your looking for but it does indeed work with no problems.
Help Please

If you don't mind can u share with me the exact way you set up your VBox. It would be greatly appreciated..Please...:fingers-crossed:
EDIT;
I have gotten it thorough doing this root method
rootzwiki.com/index.php?/topic/30148-Definitely-canNOT-root-verzion-s3-with-virtual-box#entry845614
But this is just a root method so it does not give you a stock .img/.iso tho flash like Odin does...

You have probably already found the answer but in case you didn't you can follow this guide and google Heimdall program it is like Odin but for Mac computers.
Hello, I am virtually a complete noob when it comes to rooting aphone or tablet. I have a StraightTalk Samsung Galaxy Proclaim
Hardware version S720c.01
Model # SCH-S720C
Fimware 2.3,6
Basebrand version S720C.01 VFBO7
Kernel version 2.635.7-FB07-CL972632
Build #SCH-S720C.FB07
I was wondering if this phone is root-able, and if anyone has some noob-friendly directions on how to do this.
Any phone is rootable, you just have to manually root it yourself which will be difficult. Look up "how to root a phone via adb" and you should get what you're looking for

Any results on this? My gf has a proclaim that she is always complaining about being slow. I thought if I could root it we would have more options available. Haven't seen much on this phone though.

There is a root method somewhere, but you will have to flash a custom kernel and then flash the stock kernel back over it.

Yeah, think I came across that. Just haven't seen any custom roms or anything for it.
Hello everyone!
As you can tell, I'm new here and was just wondering if it was possible to root the Samsung Galaxy S 4G SGH-T959v without a computer. I found this thread but it was a dead-end.
The reason I want to root without a PC is because my phone's USB port doesn't work. Of course, rooting is not necessary and I might as well just deal with the stock apps and gingerbread, but I'd prefer to have ICS (at least), and Jelly Bean looks awesome so I'm tempted.
I know it's possible to root the Vibrant without a PC, has anyone tried to root this one that way as well? I could try some rooting method for another phone but I'm afraid I might brick it and have to restore using USB port (which doesn't work).
Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry I can't answer your question but I would suggest going right to Kit Kat once you've rooted it (rather than ICS or JellyBean). This SlimSaber build is working great for me so far, only GPS is not working for some but I think the developer is real close to getting that resolved. KitKat is intended for low-RAM devices such as this one. Good luck!

Its not possible to root this phone without the USB port. Even if it were, recovering from the inevitable first time brick would be impossible.

My at&t phone was unlocked and rooted when I got it, but it was lacking the last 6 updates, including lollipop, so I unrooted it to bring it up to date (5.0.1). Now I want to root it again, but haven't found any viable way to do it so far.
I tried Framaroot Plus, but that was a bust, and I had to uninstall it or my phone would personally take me out!!
I have read about people going back to KitKat, and I'm beginning to think I may do that, providing I can find out how, or perhaps someone out there knows how to root this phone and can show me?? ~Thanks

Go to GalaxyS4Root.com, Zedomax has the rooting methods for all the S4 models and all the builds they come with, if you don't see a method for yours then there probably isn't one.

Thanks for the reference. Zedomax shows many ways to root the S4 back from 2013 and 2014, but I couldn't find one that would root the SGH-i337 5.0.1. BTW, I suppose I should have mentioned that I have a MAC. I've posted my question on his website. Meanwhile, is there anyone else out there who might be able to help?

I've looked this up before for other members but I don't recall finding anything that will root the 5.0.1 build for your model. You can look into whether or not your device is safe to downgrade to older stock firmware(one that is root able) and then root.

Thanks again. That settles it; I'll downgrade. The only thing is that I have no idea how to find out whether my device is safe to downgrade to older stock firmware that is root able, Can you point me in the right direction?

You would need to go to the i337 forum here at XDA and ask other members that have your device, if anyone can tell you, you'll find it there.

Finding my way around on this website is usually laborious and confusing. I did find out about "J0din3" for mac, but that was a bust and a great waste of time, because it's too old and now it's undownloadable. So I tried the latest Wine Bottler; it works with el Capitan OSX (what I'm using on the mac) and was able to get Odin to work. However, it's not recognizing my phone, otherwise, I'd be done by now. Have you ever worked with Wine? Can you tell me how I can get the Odin to recognize my phone? Did I do something out of sequence?
And a separate question for xda-dev at large: Why doesn't xda-dev eliminate all the outdated, old, and useless information that rattles around here like satellite debris and gets a lot of people off on the wrong foot?!

Sorry, I won't be of any help with Mac and my knowledge of linux is less than rudimentary, never used Wine, I use windows when windows apps are needed.
The old stuff still has useful info that still applies I guess, I've never checked XDA-Dev out, I'm not that deep in it yet. I'm working in other areas. Try posting your issues with getting recognized in this link:

Hi, I recently damaged my S4 and decided to upgrade to the S6, so far I love the phone, got it new for $250
However since it's with straight talk in not one of the more common models and I can't really seem to find any information on it, I'm mostly hoping to find a way to root it, a custom recovery would be nice but I certainly don't need it
Has anyone had any experience with this device?
Or could someone maybe point me in the right direction?
Device: Galaxy S6 (Straight Talk)
Model: SM-S907VL
Baseband: S907VLUDU1APG8 (idk if that's important lol)
Android: 6.0.1
I appreciate any help that you guys might be able to give
I am looking for the same!
Would like to root and install CM.
Samsung S6 SM-907VL
I too got the "Black Friday" deal with this phone. It is Straight Talk and is a nice phone. I emailed a popular rooting developer and they have a list a mile long with phones their app will root. But it will not root this model. If someone finds an app that will root, please post.
Looking to root this model too. Could you flash a rom from one that uses the same board and chip set? Essentially turning it from a straight talk phone to Verizon , sprint, or at&t then proceed to root from there? Might be a noob question but I been wondering if it would work

You can not do that. Unless you want to brick your phone. I am searching now, will let you know if I come up with anything!

Well hopefully we can hear back soon, I've still had pretty much no luck with this model, seems it's too little know for anything custom yet
Has anyone tried KingRoot?
I've tried Kingroot a few times now, the device is not supported unfortunately
Need root and 7.0 rom!
Seriously been looking for root since I got this phone. Is anyone even working on a root for it? Would the root for sm-s903vl work for the sm-s907vl or would it brick it? At this point I don't even care if I trip Knox. I just want ROOT!!
Fruitless searching for method to root sm-s907VL S6
Has anyone found anywhere that has information about rooting this model or atleast maybe the news that someone is working on it?! I have searched and searched and tried several different methods but nothing has worked yet. I really like this phone so far but I really gotta have my customization fix for it. Thank you to anyone who can give me some hope and of course if I find anything I'll post it here.
Thanks
I don't suppose anyone has had any luck with this device?
I'm having trouble finding stock firmware as well, I was thinking I might try a couple methods for different models but that's a little foolish without a way back to stock...
As a side note, don't buy straight talk phones, nothing seems to exist for them xD
You can get the stock software at www.firmware.gem-flash.com... I've used their copy personally and had no problems..
Device: Galaxy S6 (Straight Talk)
Model: SM-S907VL
I have the same issue and have tried several root tools and none have worked yet. Maybe some devs will get it working for one of them soon.
I have tried everything. If there is somebody smart enough to root the galaxy s6 s907vludu through straightalk please let me know. I have been searching for months. If anybody can find something for this unrootable phone please let me know.
I have model s906l it's an early sts6 and Im currently running s907vl firmware. I think the s906l can be rooted but it's running Android 5.02. My point being if you really want root maybe you can flash the s906l firmware using oden. Update nope I was able to flash up but cant flash back down. Stuck on mm without root for now.

I don't think you can downgrade an OS. Bootloaders would normally not allow it.
I tried flashing the 5.0.2 SM-S906L rom on the SM-S907VL through Odin and it gives a secure boot check fail.

I am having the same issue, I have the S6 SM-S907VL as well, I am very pleased with the phone itself as well as the cell carriers service but not having any developers hacks & mods or stock firmware or rooting methods for it is really frustrating

I have the same model also I wish now that never seen it. I've had an LG Stylo 3, and Motorola phone all of which I could easily download a ROM from here and easily customize the phone. This phone has proven impossible.
