Pit File Required - GT-P6810 WIFI (32GB) - Galaxy Tab 7.7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
Just wondering if anybody happens to have a .pit file for the 32GB wifi version?
Let's just say I didn't read instructions... and my tab is showing as a 16GB instead of 32.
Require a 32GB version pit file for the GT-p6810 to re-partition and get it back to normal.
Thanks in advance

Hi, usual disclaimer - use at your own risk. Here's why:
1) I extracted this from mine with heimdall, it is a binary so I have no idea if it extracted correctly.
2) I never flash pit, so this has never been used.
Suggest you compare with another poster before using.
Including the text version (also extracted from same device with heimdall) so you can see what is supposed to be in the binary.
Hope it helps

Hi, I was wondering if it is this file (but then the 16GB version) of the pit-file that I should use and change in orde to increase my system memory?
If so, how do I get the correct pit file for my device, and how do I change it ?
Any idea's (or is my idea a stupid one ? it's just that my device is hellishly slow because the system mem is Always so low...)

[Q] PIT/EFS Backup of a brand new P6800

Hello @all
since last weekend I'm also a proud owner of a Galaxy Tab 7.7 Wifi+3G 16GB (P6800). Now I have read a lot of threads about rooting,...
But at the very beginning I want to make a backup of all essential parts. In a first step this will include the partition table and the EFS Filesystem.
PIT Backup
=Q1=> Is it true that I'm able to get a backup of my partition table (PIT file) even without rooting my device?
=Q2=> Are the following steps correct?:
1) Put device in download mode
2) Detect device with heimdall
3) Download PIT with Heimdal
=Q3=> Can something go wrong with this method, or should this be absolutely safe?
EFS Backup
To backup my EFS partition, I thought of the following steps:
- Rooting the device
- Using some tool to backup the EFS partition (like KTool for the SGSII / Galaxy Note)
=Q4=> Is there a tool which can provide such a function for the Galaxy Tab?
=Q5=> Or do I need to do it manually, e.g. via "dd" and terminal emulator?
Best regards,
Chris

Think odin/heimdal only reads the file, it doesn't get stored anywhere on the phone..it should however come in the stock_rom_tar file.
Partition table
To backup my EFS partition, I thought of the following steps:

Just adapt rotohammers old tab7 commands to 7.7 partitions.. I dont trust any backup software unless it spesifies my device is supported
Just call out if something borks
Regarding the PIT file,
maybe I did not specify that one clearly: My goal is NOT to store the PIT file on the device. I want to download the PIT file to my computer, so I can use it in an emergency to flash a stock firmware with odin & repartition.
Best regards,
Chris

Here is the pitfile of the Galaxy tab P6800 which I got from the Samsung Service Center in after much request.
Hello Manipur,
thank you very much for your answer and the PIT file from Samsung. I will archive it, just for the case that I'm forced to flash my Tab with the Odin repartition option.
Best regards,
Chris
thank you so much for this file. after huffing and puffing for literally 4 hours with a soft-bricked p6800 i decided to adventure into unknown territory of the re-partition box in odin.
suffice it to say that i instantly revived the p6800 in less than 5 minutes with this file

[SOLVED] [Q] 32GB PIT for GT-P5100?

Hi All
I have searched and searched but can not find a 32GB PIT file for my GT-P5100 (obviously 32GB version).
I need this since I was stupid enough to use a 16GB version while flashing (I know, was pretty stupid hey?)
The tab works 100% with 4.1 JB, just minus 16GB worth of storage!
Can ANYONE please let me know where to find a 32GB version partition file? (the Sammobile site only has 8GB and 16GB)
- OR can I use another type Samsung Tab PIT file?
Thanks for ANY help...
EDIT: This is solved, read on to see some epic assistance!

Hi. Did you use a PIT file when you flashed the ROM? If not, then I think you don't need one to put back your original partitioning neither - just try to flash back the original ROM (if you made a backup), or a ROM from the Development section which is exactly for the P5100 32GB. At least that's what I would try, as using PIT file is very risky, especially from a different device model.
What ROM did you flash btw? If it's a custom ROM, you could also ask the developper for a solution.
UNless you actually flashed a PIT file or checked off the repartition flag in oDIN then nothing should have affected your storage layout.

Thanks for the help, I however did use the PIT file (still not sure why I did!) I also went back to the original ROM to see if somehow this would help. The Tab works without any issues, just partitioned to 16GB
I flashed with official rom, XXCLI5
oh, then I think you're right, using the original PIT file would be the best option... (unless there are system commands that allow repartitioning, but I couldn't find anything).
here you find some explanations about the PIT files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097
then you might want to check this post, it gives a lead for a solution (even two - someone with unmodified partitions extracts for you the original pit file of the tablet, OR use this PIT file editor ):

Hi
I have a pit file for you because I have the same problem. To make a long story short I retrieved it from a working 32GB p5100. I varified the PIT file by using PIT Magic to compare it to the 16GB version. Unfortunately for some reason I cannot get odin to partition my P5100 with this PIT file. I assure you it is the correct file. See if you can use ODIN to install this file. If you are unsure if it is the correct file download pit magic PIT_Magic_v1.3.10_Release to varify.
Pit file attached !!!!!! Used txt to upload. rename type to pit
See if you have any luck repartitioning your internal SD. I think that if we can find the correct stock rom the re-partitioning will be possible.
If you can get this pit file to do what it is supposed to let me know. In the meantime at least we have the correct PIT file.

Thanks guys, will try this PIT and keep you posted...

For interest, what Odin version are you using? I tried with 1.87
Also looked at the PIT file in PIT Magic, as you mentioned it does look ok. (LOOKS ok, I also compared this with the 8gb and 16 gb versions)
btw, Happy 2013 all!

This PIT file really works!!! A great thanks to author. But, for it became work you need modify it. First, you need to change file ext from .txt to .pit. Next, open this file by any hex-editor (i used HxD editor for this purposes) and remove all zeros in the end of file (C6 D6 48 F6 must be last bytes in the file). Save file and answer YES in change file size dialog. Now size of file should be 2132 bytes. Now You can use this file by ODIN with repartition option checked. After programming You must to boot into recovery mode (power on with volume down buttons) made swipe\factory and swipe\cache. Now space goes back.
I tested this half our ago on my P5100 which I was programmed with 16GB pit.

Here is the working pit file zipped after the input from the "RUSSIAN WIZZARD"
USE ODIN 3V1.7
STEPS
UNZIP ATTACHED ZIP P5100_32GB modded.zip
LAUNCH ODIN
SELECT PIT, SELECT REPARTITION, SELECT ROM OF YOUR CHOICE.
DESELECT REBOOT
UNPLUG AND REBOOT MANUALLY AFTER ROM COMPLETION BY HOLDING IN POWER AND VOLUME DOWN INTO RECOVERY MODE
DO FACTORY RESET
YOUR P5100 SHOULD NOW BE A 32GB TAB AGAIN.

These 2 XDA threads offer information on PIT files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=816449
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=999097
Basically, I'd only ever use a PIT file if Odin threw up an error relating to it, 99% of the time these are not needed when using Odin unless you've screwed up your devices partitions.
It's handy to have this file saved as a backup though just in case that ever happened
okey i got it now, thanks it's really hepful :good::good::good:

How, a little more information would be nice?
What model did you use it on; T310, T311 or T315?
What options did you tick in ODIN?
I compared the same PIT file to one extracted with heimdall on my T310, all entries/contents were the same, it came from a T311 firmware package but T310 firmware packages also have the same file. T315 uses a different named PIT file hence why I was uncertain.
Just now I've even compared it to another PIT file off the SamMobile forums that a Moderator posted for the T310, everything is the same, ODIN will reject it if it isn't signed as well.
https://www.diffchecker.com/cta675hS
I didn't force you to use the file, nor was this a guide in anyway, your device must have been in a bad way for you to consider using it.
In any case I've now removed the file.

Did that app provide you with the pit file or did it extract it from your device for you? Something seems to be not right about my device since I am unable to flash the XAR firmware but am able to flash others. So someone suggested that the partitioning might be off. Hi
Can somebody help me? I need the pit file for my SM-P905M.
I updated its firmware to lollipop and I've been presenting several issues with it (have tested lot of variants) but now the problem is the internal memory. The internal memory works as expected initially but some days later (after wiping and flashing) locks as read only and the only working solution is wipe and install all over again. I've been reading about the problem and seems like the partition table is corrupted, so I hope any of you can help me with the PIT file to wipe and flash once again my tablet and make it work properly.
Thanks in advance... and sorry for the sloppy english (non-native).

First ever attempt to upgrade my tab and failed! Need some direction

With much embarrassment I have to admit I really thought I was smarter than a tablet and a few simple clicks. Apparently not. So now I am here with issues that I am sure someone can answer because your more advanced than a few clicks and a tablet.
I have briefly looked for a resolve to my issue but it is very overwhelming. So if you can just point me in the right direction and hold my hand at the same time I would be very appreciative :good:
Issues:
I originally downloaded Odin, GT-P5113 4.0.4, CM 12.1, CW Unofficial Touch 6.0.3.3 p5100 zip. I launced Odin and followed the steps from a you-tube video. Well upon my surprise CW was not on the tablet so I was at the Tabs generic recovery screen. I choose the option to delete all user data ( lots of no's to select from and one Yes). Well continuing to be a fool I completed this process. When the tablet rebooted I was stuck at the Samsung logo screen. I decided to get to the download screen and install smt810_cf_autoroot.tar. After loading this tar via Odin I became stuck on the Android man downloading screen. Waited a bit and nothing. Then my tablet shut down and came up with "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue" with the tablet-yellow ! icon and pc icon.
Another issue is when i download these files Odin will not find them in my file. Why? I usually keep them unzipped as a .rar in order for odin to show them so I can select PDA and attempt to install them.
Is there a way to still upgrade the Android system and fix this Firmware error at the same time?
Basically I am so new to this I need specific directions on resolving my issue. So if anyone has a moment please help me out here. I appreciate your time and knowledge
And I can use Odin to install to the tablet. If that helps Just not in the download screen on the tablet.

first you should download the stock firmware of your device, if it's p5113 then search and download the same firmware.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203309 check this thread if it's there, if it's not please google it, if already have it, ignore..
Once you have it, you should get the firmware md5 file (by unzipping the rar.) Odin will take tar file or md5 file. put it in Odin AP/PDA check the thread for all the details on how to flash correctly.
you have to get into download mode by pressing the power and volume up/right to do that once the firmware is successfully flashed and your tab starts running again. first get this part done.
Always use files that are meant only for your device. if your tab say p5113. then make sure the file you are flashing states it is meant for p5113 and not p5100. (maybe not in the rooting case cause it's same
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2203309 here for all)
At some places you will find files marked as p51xx. those files are generally safe too and are meant for the p51xx tab series but that is later stage.
I appreciate the feedback and have found I had tried to flash my tablet with GT-P5110 software when i actually have a GT-P5113TS. I have found the firmware but my issue is when I download anything and extract it with using rar. I never get a .tar file or anything Odin can not recognize to select PDA and use.. What would cause that? How do I fix this?
Thank You

Try winrar or 7zip, it should extract, you need md5 or tar format in pda section. If not what error are you getting? There must be some file when you open the archive?
Basically when I download the zip file I want and then extract it to a specific folder. All I after unzipping is File folders with other file folders inside,Img, File, PROP, and SH. I never extract anything that is a Tar file or anything Odin can recognize when on PDA within Odin. Plus a lot of times I click on a link for a download off this site and it sends me to some watch-movies website. Not a actual download. Or I am just missing it.

Maybe it's a bad link to your stock file then. Perhaps someone can give proper file link to the stock firmware. Inside the zip it's basically a md5 file for firmware to flash. Sadly I don't have a proper yoi will have to find of the net.
