As the title suggests, I'm looking for a kernel that lets me overclock but I haven't been able to find one that people have commented on recently. I am using the stock rom now, but I would be ok with a modded stock rom with overclocking if anyone knows of any that are 100% stable with the 1080p camera.
I really liked CM9 from korny and TeamDS and I tried CM7 too but it's forgotten. I liked the 1.7ghz that I could do on the ICS rom and would love that in a super stable semi-stock rom.
So if anyone remembers one that was really good and lets you overclock, I'd love to try it out. Thanks all.
Use Rubix ICS from Rootzwiki. Its as AOSP as stock can get. At the end of the post there's a file called Rubix ICS 5.3, its not flashable. Open it, then flash the files inside. If you want me to, I'll host the file. Also the flashable for Stock camera as Rubix uses the CM7 camera. Kernel wise, all stock ones are gone. I have an UV/OC stock kernel from blue. I can host that file too for you. If you ask strapped he might give you one of his 1.7ghz OC kernel. But that's very iffy.

Rubix ICS isn't a stock-based ROM and is rather old, not sure why people still recommend it because there are too many instabilities for my taste. YMMV. I like the MikTouch ROM. It is a tweaked/optimized stock ROM, based on the latest HTC ROM (1.63.531.2) so EVERYTHING works perfectly, no surprises. He also has several kernel options with OC up to 1.7GHz. Right now, IMO, it is the best available ROM for the MT4GS.

Yeah it is. Stock based means what it says, based off stock. It based off the last release before he quit. If you thinking of his kang of Tbaldens ICS rom, then your correct.

Sorry, I searched the WHOLE OP for that rom, and nowhere did it mention it was based off stock.

I used the rom for quite some time. It was quite stable for me, but I had a nasty battery drain which I dealt with until Inquisition came out.

It's based off his Rubix Nonsense which is on XDA. Which is a senseless rom based off the shipped rom. How else would a non-stock Rom have TV-Out working perfectly? You think he was that good of a Dev? Xo Stock camera, which only worked on his sensation port because somebody ported are camera to the sensation. I mean seriously! Its based off stock. There was no AOSP source, all of Rommans tweaks are in there. Looks at blues tweaks, are they not the same as Rubix ICS 5.3? It's not even ICS, it's gingerbread. He just tried hard to get it as AOSP looking as possible. Even when you boot it has the DS lockcreen. Stock messaging as a flash able which needs stock Framework to work. I could go on forever! Wheres Blue when you need him XO
I think he was referring to GB stock rom like Mik or Bulletproof. All the links were taken down for Bulletproof OC and like the guys said the one for stock/Mik rom has issues. It sucks after all the testing I've done and all the work strapped365 put into it... the bugs weren't ever ironed out Maybe Blue can put his back up if the source stuff gets situated ever. Plus, CM9 Alpha 6 is coming soon and might fix most bugs left included full res for cam etc which would eliminate the need for GB kernels and roms.

You had issues with the Miktouch 0.7 ROM? That has been the most stable ROM I've ever run on this phone. Everything works like it is supposed to since it is an optimized version of the latest HTC rom, 1.63.531.2. The only issue I had was with some of the optional OC/UV kernels.

yeah, I didn't explain it very well. I thought I made it clear I was referring to the OC kernels we were testing for you and not the ones thats came with bulletproof and mik rom. those roms were great(my daily drivers still) We're all still here if you have any other ideas for kernels if you need us for testing. I know you're busy with other stuff now and were out of ideas with the kernels but if you ever need any help... thanks
I think I know what happened with those camera flash limits on that last tester kernel... it's probably due to mine not being S-Off. I bet if someone who was S-Off tried it... it would work cause those values were correct but didn't change on my end like it was locked out similar to me being unable to flash splash images cause of certain partition locks still.... if that makes sense lol!

Yeah it makes sense cause in one of the many oc kernels I built I had changed it and used the camera down to 12% and then flashed just a stock kernel and instantly got the flash warning.
But then again it could have been that was the only change I made to the Stock source, who knows all I know is dual core kernels are nothing like the speedy ones I have done, I can do them with my eyes closed and their stable. Maybe I could make a kang bang kernel and just kang what was released last year just for the sake of oc/uv but I don't even feel right doing a direct replica of someones old kernel that's no longer support us

Hi, I don't own a G2X but my friends do. Their both having data connectivity issues and random rebooting. One has leaked gingerbread rom and one has stock rom. I've given them new sim cards but still same problem. Can anyone recommend a good stable-ish Rom that can take care of these issues? I was looking at the Eagleblood 2.3.4 Rom any feedback?
Thanks for the help!

I'm having great results with the Ultimate G2X 1.0 rom. Its fast/snappy/responsive, very stable, everything works, great theme.
I've tried the CM7 nightlies and they're pretty darn good, but still enoight quirks that I'll stick with Ultimate for now as my main rom.

EB 1.0.4 with Faux's Kernel
EB 1.0.5 with faux kernel, it's friggen awesome!
I will also chime in for EB 1.05 (the froyo based rom) with faux's kernal. I tried out Ultimate 1.0 on my phone, but I was getting a bunch of FC's and "zombie widgets." I doubt it was a problem with the rom itself...it seems to be an awesome rom. But I run SPB Shell 3D, and I think maybe there was some kind of incompatibility with the theming. I don't know...but I tried and tried, and finally just gave up and went back to the EB because...well, it simply works. I haven't had a single problem with it.

I want to try that out, but I think you have to flash other stuff with that as well? Like gapps? Little confusing for me since I'm pretty much a newb at this stuff
if youre looking for stability i use fauxs oc stock kernel with stock rom. all other roms at this point cause different issues. mainly games not working such as nova saying wrong version or not updating for me. stock wouldn't be my choice for looks but everything seems to work and OC kernel with Go Launcher EX and its new app drawer animations make it pretty cool.
p.s. everytime i try a rom then go back to stock i get a bunch of text messages that for some reason always never get recieved when using other roms as well.
I was new to this stuff like u about a week ago. I really like eaglesblood and you probably wont need a kernel. Eaglesblood fixed the issues I had. Oh BTW I'm using 1.0.5 if u were wondering

All of the 2.3.x roms have issues, not the developers fault, it is because the roms are based off a leaked early GB rom and are missing some of the drivers/features.
To me working BT and GPS are necessary features in a "best" rom, so I look to the froyo based roms, currently my every day rom is team Shockwave's Dark Sinister Rom.
If BT & GPS are not important, then Eagleblood Rom with Faux's OC Kernal is relatively issue free.

I just wanted to say thanks to guys for the work on ICS on the Captivate. I'm an experienced flasher (almost addicted), and I'm impressed. Thread can be found here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363760
I did a few things little different because I've never quite liked the CM Rom, but that's just me. I flashed mine over Cognition 5v2, but you have to twice. Also, I had to go back and put on the uckb1 modem....and started getting 2 to 3 bars on my signal where I used to never get any, with any phone. Slapped in Contol Freak and overclocked it to 1.3 ghz, Volume Control+ for some volume, and this sucker is blazingly fast, amazingly stable, and makes the Cappy even that much more impressive.
Sad part...two days ago was showing off my Super Soldering skills I did on applying Adam's Unbrickable Mod (yes I had my phone apart with the board in my hand in the middle of Wal-Mart's parking lot) when my screen slid off the car and sadly is now cracked....and it's still amazing!

I love ICS on my cappy, I used Onecosmic's ICS 4.0.3 RC2.11 for i897 and couldn't be happier, I went from a non-rooted stock 2.3.5 to a rooted ICS and JVT modem which effectively fixed all my GPS woes as well.

Absolutely love ICS. Thank you to all that worked on it. My phone has been really stable and usable. Love it. I was planning on selling it and invest into something new but not anymore. I'll use it until it dies or someone gifts me a newer phone. **Doesn't happen often.
Thanks again ICS team.

Teamhacksungs ICS build 13 is what I am using now, and it is very stable. The main advantage for myself is the increased battery life, way better stock web browser, among other things, you should give it a try. (I have been using it since way back, like build 3, lol)
They updated today to build 14 but I don't see any improvements in it that are relevant for the way I use the phone, so I am going to skip 14 and see what happens with build 15.
Hope this helps.

Flash back to stock first (I use kh3 one click with cwm) then flash teamhacksung Rom, let boot fully, flash gapps 7.1, reboot and enjoy.
You must flash back to stock gingerbread first cause u probably have voodoo enabled on ur file structure, therefore ics won't install.

Glad it worked out ics is like a totally different experience.
I can't go back to gingerbread after ics, lol. I also found cm7 (181) to be very stable too .
Just be sure before flashing custom roms, its a good idea to keep that one click handy due to differences in file structures, it avoids a lot of frustration.

Hi guys,
I decided I want to flash an ICS rom to my nexus S.
Question I have though, is what will work for my phone, which is a 9020A (AT&T) and what rom would give me the closest to stock ICS like what OTA ICS would be?
I was thinking cyanogenmod 9 but I have used CM7 and remembered it being sort of a hassle...
I really want the facial unlock feature if possible. I don't know if it's native in ics or what but I want that.
Tell me why you think the rom you suggest is best, please. I want to know what the pros and cons to it are. And links would be really nice!
Thanks!
stock ics
I'm happy with the stock 4.0.3, I tested Peter Alfonso nightlies lately but I was annoyed by his adjusted auto brightness however it seems to be very popular and smooth and fast.
Stock runs great on my i9023 and there are no killer features in any stock like rom yet imho. But I'm using a custom kernel which is imho always better than the stock kernel.
edit: face unlock is useless since it recognizes nothing and is less secure than a pin or a pattern
Im using the same model phone as you are and running cybergr ics v3. Its by far the best rom so far.. try it, he has alot of extra features.. daily rom. In a couple of days v4 is coming out.
I just flashed revolution HD 4.2.3 this morning with speedy 4 kernel and this is definitely the best combination I've used so far.

I still use the DrewGaren ROMS, they are plenty fast and stable, along with the latest Glados Kernel They seem to give me the best results.
Stand corrected. cybergr ics v3 is a really fast ROM, probably the fastest i've ever seen my phone, just need to update it to v2.8 Glados
Face Unlock is a cool feature. Unfortunately, our front camera is too bad to properly recognize faces. If you get lucky - in good light - you might be able to unlock it, but it really is no fun at all.

Works great. No radio flash needed. Install went smooth aside from a few derps on my part. Rom seems a bit laggy but I think it's just because it's reinstalling everything. other times it's blown me away by how fast it is. Face unlock works pretty well. love the interface. I can't believe it's android, its awesome!
I've tested almost every ICS rom's available and right now KANGY6 with MATRIX v14.5 CFS it's the best combo for me.
i'm getting 3000+ on Quadrant with 1.46Ghz OC
You may try the CYBERGR ROM it's also very stable and fast.

ok, I dun goofed. I think I restored a system app on accident thinking that it would restore my messages or something... but my mobile data quit working when i restored that stuff (multiple restores, but thought i was just restoring user apps not system). any idea how to fix the mobile data without re-flashing?
Edit: Fixed, but lost my conversations in my messaging. Oh well. At least the android gods love me again. Anyways this rom is great, it works perfectly! So smooth!

I will have no experience with this phone. She doesn't need the flashiest or fastest ROM. She just needs the most stable. I want to give her a custom ROM to take advantage of less-bloat and better battery life.
Which of the current ROM's is the most stable? Is the thread from February that I linked above still valid? Which is to say, that Froyo ROM's are still considered the most stable? Or has Gingerbread come along further yet?

Also, if you can buy her a phone that has software version 1.28.531.9 that'll be great since you can gain S-OFF and flash ROMs at ease without having to go through HTC-Dev to unlock the bootloader.

A debloated and tweaked version of the latest stock ROM. I'm running a rooted stock 1.63.531.2 ROM (the latest) and it is by far the smoothest and quickest thing out of HTC for this phone. The Miktouch ROM will be an even better experience. And everything just works like it should, no having to do anything special to get some function to work.

I'm buying a MyTouch HTC Slider for a friend of mine (with her money). She loves Android but isn't a techy.
I'm pretty used to flashing my Skyrocket. Just don't have time to devote to researching the MyTouch. She's not my GF. She's actually my buddy's GF.

I vote for Bulletproof too, I have been running it for months with no problems. It keeps all the functions of the phone intact too. There are no Froyo roms for this phone, so I am not sure what you are talking about there. There are plenty of gigngerbread roms, and Ice cream sandwich roms. I haven't found any of the ics roms to be stable enough for me though. Go with Bulletproof.
Kk, just picked up the MyTouch HTC 4G slide.
It has:
Locked
Doubleshot put Ship S-On RL
HBOT-1.45.0013
So it looks like the Revolutionairy tool can't be use to set this phone to S-OFF because it says 1.45.0013 is not supported at this time, when I run the Revolutionairy tool.
So from what I can gather, it looks like installing the Bulletproof ROM is now out of the question, since there is no way to set this phone to S-OFF?
I'm still googling but on a bit of a time crunch.

Use the all in one tool to unlock & install clockwork, then you can flash bulletproof. You'll have to extract the kernel (boot.img) and flash it using fast boot, there's a sticky in the dev section about flashing ics roms that will show u how to do that

Everything you said was correct and I'm up & running on Bulletproof now.
Thanks!

We can now gain S-OFF (if you want it and if you're tired of flashing boot images from your computer everytime you flash a new ROM) via Juopunutbear. I was a bit apprehensive to try it out as this is my only phone, but I did and it took me about 15 tries to get it but it worked! A lot did it on the first try tho. Like everything else, its risky, but as long as you follow the instructions you will be fine. S-OFF - Juopunutbear
ICS 5.3 by undead over on rootzwiki is just as stable and functional as bulletproof and it has better battery life if you calibrate the battery

I agree. You can even use yogis UV6 extreme uv kernel with no problems. Been running rubix 5.3 for about 2 weeks now with yogis extreme uv kernel and it is perfectly stable with amazing battery life. And not to mention it is FAST.

How does Virtuous Inqusition compare with Rubix? Seems people go NUTS for this Virtuous stuff, but I've heard lots of good about the battery life in RubiX, and I'm really interested in the data speed tweaks - people reporting going from 1.5 Mbps to 8+
I come from the OG Moto droid - switching between Miui, CM, and Simply Stunning. I definitely don't want Sense.

I can never find an active link to download any of his roms. Where can you find them?
Thanks
The links are listed on rootzwiki - I'm not going to link since I don't want to get in trouble here, but you should be able to find it in the development section on that site.
Check the last pages of his threads because all his dev threads are locked so of course the files arent there

Bulletproof was nice, but I didn't like the theming. MikTouch 0.7.

I love Rubix. I use it as my day to day Rom. Anything else for me is just experimental. However, I prefer Rubix version 5.1, because it keeps the excellent stock camera app. PM me if you would like the zip.

AND YOU'RE WELCOME FOR THAT BTW!
Any possibility of having a CM7 build available? I'm sure there's some of us not a fan of ICS and would prefer a stable and reliable daily driver of a GB ROM.

I can say that I do't know anything about it, but there is one listed here at the bottom:

Nice!
Umm closest you're going to get other than CM9 is this Stock optimized Sense:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613917
It's not a bad rom though honestly. Stock Sense has its pros, with the optimization it'll be smooth.

I just downloaded/flashed to no avail. Wouldn't boot at all.
I guess I'll try that unsensed because thats really what I want, not a fan of sense at all. It'd just be nice to have an official CM7 build, you know?
EDIT: I'm so stupid. I forgot I have S-ON ahaha. I'll reflash the boot.img first.
ICS, and GB will have the same issues. But only when there AOSP based. The GB kernel is a hacked up kernel. The ICS Kernel is built from source, and ported over to our device. If you want stable, hit out a stock based ROM.
