Hi guys,
I ask for your help after having tried everything was in my possibilities.
I recently bought a Galaxy GT-B1150 and I wanted to root it. I tried everything :
1. Superoneclick
2.Z4root
3.Unlock Root
4.Sgtool
5.to put a .zip folder in the SD and to enter in recovery
It was useless. I have all the possible drivers on my windows 7, although 1,2,3 and 4 didn't work.
1 freezes at #7;
2 just doesn't do anything
4 "smart card error 0x89"
5 I feel idiot, but I seriously can't do the recovery mode. I push power+home+volume up but the best result I achieve is a reboot.
It's been 3 days since I started trying, now I just don't know hat to do.
Thanks for any help!
U've written the model no. incorrectly..got me confused.
Anyway i'll see what i can find.
It's seems like the usual update.zip rooting works. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431696
U should be able to boot into recovery.
The model is GT-B5510, sorry.
I swear I tried thousands times to boot into recovery, I just can't!
I even watched a video and a picture of the procedure, but it doesn't work. It's so simple that it seems impossible to me to be so dumb. It's three keys pressed simultaneously: that's what I do. I don't really know what to think.
Tell me what exactly happens when u try to enter recovery mode.
What do u see on the screen?
When the phone is off and I press the 3 keys, the phone turns on and the screen view with "samsung galaxy GT-B5510" written on, appears. If I hold them, after few seconds, the "galaxy GT..." text disappear and the phone just reboots. If I release them, the phone starts normally.
Weird.
Try various other key combination if ur bored, there should be one for download mode but it's not useful in this scenario.
I came across a very similar case the other day but on a different phone, he resolved it by rooting with superoneclick(beware of the various versions) .
Maybe googling on the superoneclick error might get u somewhere.
Maybe..maybe the new phones shipped with 2.3.6 have the recovery mode disabled/blocked(seems unlikely) but i've not been able to confirm this.
---------- Post added at 05:17 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
Also, is ur phone Y Pro or Y TXT?
Which country are u frm?
I uploaded the video to show you better.
It's been 3 days since I started trying. I googled everything I could, I tried to resolve every problem with each method.
The only way left is the recovery, so I will try different combinations.
It's Y PRO.
I'm from Italy.
Tried soe combinations...useless. Is there something else I can do?
Well it can be frustrating at times...try holding down the keys like forever, even after it reboots..maybe next time it'll boot into recovery instead of android.
Have u come across any alternate firmwares, either stock or custom that u could flash?
U have no problem entering download mode right?
Well, I'm not very into Android, it's the first time I use it. That means I didn't understand a word of your second sentence.
Ah, I don't even know how to enter in download mode.
Thank you for helping me, really!
Firmwares are the files which u can flash on ur phone which gives u a fully working operating system.
Flashing = Installing
Stock firmware/rom = factory samsung firmwares
custom firmware/rom = 'custom' like cyanogenmod
I don't think there are any custom roms for y pro as of now on xda.
Seems download mode for pro is voldown+home+power
Use this site http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/?page=3 , u'll find all the firmware and guides on how to flash them.
U can also find it here http://www.tsar3000.com/Joomla/inde...0-b5512-galaxyypro&catid=57:how-to&Itemid=104
But i usually use sammobile.com
U can check ur current firmware version in the About Phone or by typing in some code like *1234# (i don't remember exactly)
Take your time, don't rush into it. U'll lose all ur data when u flash firmwares.
U don't have any necessity to change firmwares at this moment, but the more u know the better it is.
I'm still wondering why u can't get into recovery.
My firmware is GINGERBREAD 2.3.6
I have Kies, so my phone is fully updated: why should I download the firmware?
The download mode doesn't seem to start too.
This whole thing is crazy!!!
Besides, my phone's memory is getting full, so I really need to move everything to the SD (the apps are already there)!
C'mon download mode has to work..else it's almost useless.
Even when updating with kies the phone goes into download mode during the process.
I was just thinking if u could flash to a previous firmware version maybe u could get into recovery..just a thought.
2.3.6 is the android version, u should also see something like B5510ITVLB1 or B5510ITVLF1
As for memory, rooting is the best way to move all the apps to sd...but there are some applications on market which can move certain apps, not all to sd without root.
There is a galaxy y forum here http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1469 maybe the folks there can help u more.
My firmware version is B5510XXKK2.
Installing a previous firmware should be my last chance, since it deletes everything. :'(
I'll try on that forum too.
same problem here
Hello,
I know this is a old threat but I have the same problem and I am from the Netherlands..
I've bought this phone with a screenlock password and the previous owner don't not know him anymore
I cannot enter recovery and downloade mode..
I tried evrything i could think of. The Phone is simlocked. Don't know if that is the problem?

Press volumen down, then Home, then Power.
In above 5 or 6 seconds you will see the Samsung banner, then release all the keys at the same time.
Almost instantaneously you will see a very different menu, and then finally you have to press (as indicated in the screen) the volume up key.
Now you are in download mode, and you can plug the usb cable to connect the mobile to a computer with Odin and then flash the ROM (for instance).
Cheers.
Javier
Same problem - tried everything - can go into download mode - what next?
Hi, I have the same problem. My phone got blocked because my mother tried the pattern too many times. The phone won't accept my gmail login and password (even though it is correct). I've tried a hard factory reset (volume up, home, off) but it doesn't work. I can get in to download mode by pressing volume down, home and off-button but I have no idea what I need to do next. Any advice anyone?

Hi there.
If you read spanish, you can take some ideas from my site:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510
Summary:
1. Get a GNU/Linux machine (you can build a Virtual Machine on top of Virtualbox for instance)
2. Get SplitFUS2
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#splitfus2
3. Download a ROM file:
http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-B5510
4. Uncompress it and generate the required files:
Example:
./splitfus2 -w -s S6102DXMA2_S6102OLBMA1_S6102DXMA2_HOME.tar.md5
5. Get a Window$ machine
6. Download Odin on this machine:
https://wiki.legido.com/doku.php?id=android:gt-b5510#odin
7. Plug the mobile on download mode to the windows machine through a USB cable
8. Pass the files obtained on step 4 to the Window$ machine
9. Upload new firmware with Odin to the mobile
I hope that this summary helps you.

I was attempting to get root access to my galaxy tab 2 10.1 running android 10.2.1 (or whatever the latest Samsung update was it is 10.2 on my phone but am sure it was 10.2.1 on the tablet.
I was following this guide that someone here recommended
http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...-p5113-android41-jellybean-android404-ics.htm
I set usb debug and made sure the drivers were on my pc and made sure KIES was completely not running
Followed the instructions to the letter but should have worried when I found the instructions to get to download were wrong - I found on videos that it was reboot using power and right volume key. That was successful
It connected to ODIN fine and the yellow box came up
I made sure the two boxes were ticked and then searched for the file
CF-Auto-Root-espresso10wifi-espresso10wifibby-gtp5113.zip and started ODIN
it seemed to be going fine until suddenly a red box came up with update failed
Now all I can get on the device is "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
No matter how I try to restart this I get the same screen and imagine I couldn't connect to kies even if I should
Can anyone help as I am worried that I have bricked my device - I was looking for a simple way to get root without flashing a whole rom - or is that what I was doing anyway?
Here is a link that may can help you : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1722745
Try to do the point A to install CWM Recovery and root correctly the tab then do the point E to install the stock Android 4.0.4
ps : if you want to do something to your tab, try to search here before other websites, big community, good informations/tips (personnal advise) :good:
Maybe file you downloaded is corrupted , redownload it from xda or sammobile and do steps again

I will take a look but so far the only thing I get is the message to connect to KIES and it wont of course connect - cant get into any other modes - you would think they would have some kind of hard boot recovery button that gets you to basic screen to download the latest firmware.
And I did start here and believe that this led from a post here - I was trying to find the least complicated method of getting root access without changing what I already had too much - the only other process that I found on here seemed to have lots of people reporting problems if it wasn't a 3g model
It is beginning to look like I may have found out what bricking is - thanks for the reply anyway
would like to do that

In fact the instructions do say if it doesn't work first time, to run it again with the boxes unticked - the problem is that I cant get back to download mode, or any mode other than the message to connect to kies, so have no way of doing this. So looks like it may have bricked - is there any way of unbricking a tablet?:crying:
It's going to be an expensive mistake especially as I haven't even had the £50 cash back from Samsung yet and I would have to pay full price now to replace it,
So did you remove it from Odin after it failed?
If you connect and pull up Odin, even though its not in download mode, do you get an active com box showing its connected?
Have you tried kies yet?
There is a simple method of rooting in the link posted in the previous post by n0is. At this point you might have to flash a stock image before you try and root again. If you can get an active com port in Odin, run a stock image first, they can be found here in xda. Get it booted up and then make sure you are on the latest android version, its 4.1.1 here in the US. If you try and root first and then update, you will lose root so update first to avoid rooting twice.
Just to clarify the root procedures,
Odin the cwm recovery .tar from the thread.
Reboot to recovery then flash the super user zip for the p5113. It will ask you about erasing stock recovery or something like that, check yes.
And that's it, simple enough

not optamistic but will try!

I will try but I don't think it is going to work. Whenever I connect the tablet by USB I get the usb connecting sound followed immediately by the USB disconnect sound - this just continues to happen every 4 seconds or so all the time that the device is connected. At the moment I have it on charge as once the error screen comes on it doesnt seem to go off for a very long time and then it wont start unless I charge it first. After a few minutes on charge - The firmware upgrade encountered an issue message comes up. I am going to leave it a while until I am sure it is fully charged and then try what you suggest - not optamistic though since I now realise that it is not even connecting properly. I just have a bad feeling about this. I had to disconnect it from the power yesterday because the error screen stays on continuously and the device starts to get warm
Assuming that I ever manage to get a stock image installed will this mean I can go back to normal kies updates - all I really wanted was the standard samsung android O/S but with super user added.
Unfortunately I had read the linked article a while back and what made me more confident was the statement that said it was "virtually impossible to brick this device"
Since it's still going into Charging mode and spitting out error messages, it's not completely bricked. It's just in a reboot loop (a.k.a. soft brick).
Keep trying to get it into Download mode. Sometimes the timing is a little tricky if it's in a boot loop.
1. Disconnect it before trying to get it into Download Mode. If it's plugged in (charger or PC), the device will go into Charging mode instead.
2. Hold the Power button for 10 seconds to make it reboot.
3. When you see the screen turn off, let go of Power and then press and hold Power and Volume Right/Up.
4. If done correctly, it will immediately go into Download Mode. If you see the Samsung logo instead, repeat from Step 2.
some progress but still stuck - any more ideas please

Hi well thanks -
when I connected Odin it did show up yellow and so I downloaded the P5110 stock from from the other thread - all went well and it reported all OK and re-booted - saw the animated sequence but now it has stalled on the samsung logo and still wont connect to kies
So still stuck but at least it has moved on - The instructions on the other page were a little unclear about one stage
It said if there was pit file included to set something and tick repartition - this was all in one line and so I assumed part of the pit instruction - as there was no pit file I did not tick re-partition - I wonder if I should have done?
I have just reconnected to ODIN and the ID Com is still lit up yellow so presumably I could try running it again, or should I look on here for another stock rom - I am wondering if I have somehpw scewed up the bootloader and if so how I go about restoring it
ODIN is the only thing it connects to right now
Last night my phone said it needed to do a security policy update that would take 25 minutes. I said OK and it immediately rebooted and is now in an infinite boot. I cannot get to the recovery mode at all (power+home+ up volume), it just reboots again. I can get to maintenance mode with down volume and power but the only option here that does not again cause a reboot is the power down (this of course just powers down and starts the reboot issue again on power on). I tried to use Smart Switch recovery but Smart Switch does not find my phone. I am running out of ideas at this point. This is the first android I have had in 2 years so I am rusty on some of these issues and acronyms. Any help would be appreciated.
I realized that smart switch did not connect because my phone was off. Am I supposed to be in download mode? This is the part where I am not sure how to proceed.
Download mode?
Can you access download mode? Usually when you get in a bootloop, you can get to it by pressing the key combination for 10 - 20 seconds. Then when your device turns off keep pressing them. If you can re flash your stock rom. If you can't, my advice is to go to your carrier and play dumb. Good Luck!
Just got home to try, last I knew I CAN get to download mode but I am not familiar with how to flash stock rom?
you can get into recovery if you turun yoour device off, then when the screen is off press the key combination for the recovery, not wehn the device ist still turned on.
go to download mode with vol down+home+power, then follow this http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/help/how-to-smart-switch-emergency-t3383448
Get in download mode if you can and flash stock ROM and you're ready to go. ?

I was able to fix the phone but it took some doing. I tried to use smart switch and its precursor (starts with a K but I don't remember the name off the top of my head) both of which said the galaxy s6 I had was not supported. In recovery mode they would recognize the model but not the S/N even though its the same one Samsung verified for me. In the end I had to go to Sammobile.com and grab the firmware, I installed Odin 9.3.6a (I believe this was the version, not at home to verify right now) and used odin to flash the phone. This worked like a charm and even kept my data on the phone.
I am new to the forum so I am not sure how to close out the thread as answered.

sorry...but I have to ask, is it so hard to follow step by step instructions with pictures? XD
oh sorry, this sentence verifies you didn`t even look at it: "I tried to use smart switch and its precursor (starts with a K but I don't remember the name off the top of my head) both of which said the galaxy s6 I had was not supported."
Smart Switch will allways say for S6 that it is not suported, but I have done emergency initialization many times myself, without any issues, following the steps I gave you in the link (with pictures (which are quite easy to follow))
..and a piece of advice: - read instructions carefully BEFORE connecting the phone!

I actually had followed the exact steps before you posted your link, and I DID read through your link even after the phone was working because I wanted to learn what you had to offer. However, following the EXACT steps (with pictures even (that are easy to follow)) Smart Switch refused to take and my serial number. To be sure I actually tried every combination I could find from: Samsung, the box, the back of the phone, and the barcode option in download mode. None of them worked, Smart Switch simply said that the S/N was not valid. Furthermore, I tried it on 2 computers and 3 different USB cables.
..and a piece of advice: - I read instructions quite well and even follow them carefully BEFORE I try to fix my phone.
I am glad that Smart Switch worked for you but no need to assume everyone else is doing something wrong if it doesn't fix their issue.

Well, from what you wrote, and I quote: "both of which said the galaxy s6 I had was not supported.", there is no indication that it didn`t accept your serial number, so I guess that is the point of missunderstanding.
Don`t get me wrong, I didn`t want to be a smartass, just tried to help, (that`s why I made those instructions in the first place, because i saw that lots of folks say that their S6 is not supported by SS (btw, I got the same notification when I connected my phone for the 1st time)(could be that their sn also wasn`t accepted, but there was no indication of it in their post, same as here)
and probably I used a wrong expressions along the way, for which I am sorry.
Looking for some help please! My phone battery died the other day, I plugged it in to charge and turned it on at 3% battery life only to get stuck in a boot loop.
Did a factory reset and then successfully flashed with odin and current firmware G930TUVS9CSC1. After flashing it went to installing a system update screen only getting to about 32%, then it said erasing for a while and went back to the samsung startup screen stuck in apparently the same boot loop I started with.
Is my phone screwed or did I miss something? looking for any help, thanks.

It sometimes does this, make sure the firmware your using is correct for your device and flash again.
UNCHECK "auto reboot" in Odin
Disconnect when flash complete Do Not Turn The Phone On
Reboot into recovery volume up+home+power
Wipe cache/factory rest
Reboot

interesting, it worked fine before this started 2 days ago. I guess maybe the sim card reader broke? theres definitely no dirt in there and it seems to make a good connection (tried a new sim card had lying around and it etched lines into the sim card nicely).
Also I should mention that I had no clue what I was doing and flashed a dozen or so different versions of firmwares probably like 20 times, so maybe I caused it.

Er.... Yes!
You have to flash the correct region firmware for your device or you end up with problems like you have.
Search for the SamFirm tool on here it's great for getting the correct firmware direct from Samsung servers.

Okay well that tool's forum post says it's deprecated so I followed the alternative link to updato and got stock 8.0 from there. Flashed phone, everything works 100% but still no sim detected.
I'm wondering If I broke my phone because I even tried some custom rom with a pit file and probably did that wrong as well.

First MAKE SURE you are flashing correct firmware for your device.
What device do you have and what country?
If you are sure it's correct. Flash again with Odin but uncheck "auto reboot" in options.
When pass appears just disconnect phone, it doesn't matter what it shows on the screen.
In this sequence press and hold the following... Volume down+home+power.
As soon as the screen goes black move your finger to Volume up while still pressing home+power. It may take several attempts.
When recovery menu appears wipe cache partition then reboot.
Leave phone go through boot sequence, ignore what appears on the screen during this time it is normal. This boot should take around 5 minutes.
EDIT: FIXED, I did what you did, but for that to work I had to flash it without the hidden.img. Then it rebooted and got stuck on the logo again, but i was able to boot into recovery. Thank you so much.

Hey, thank you for responding.
I'm not 100% sure it's the right one
Device: Samsung A510M
Country: Argentina
Carrier: Personal
I downloaded a firmware from sammobile matching those specifications, but it fails at the last step with hidden.img.
This morning I downloaded another firmware through samfirm, but that one fails at modem.img instead.
I will try your instructions with either of them.

To be clear, I only need to repeat this part of the process, not reinstall the firmware every time, correct? I've been trying to do this for a while, but it just shows:
"An error has occurred while updating the device software. Use the Emergency recovery function in the Smart Switch PC software."
Ok so got a Notepro P900 - "stock" it only boots to Logo then a blank screen.
Tried recovery/reflashing but Odin just sticks on "initializing", I have seen threads saying to enable USB debugging etc but i can boot into the OS.
Can someone PLEASE let me know if I can save this unit?
I think it was is running 4.4.2. - obviously I don't care about knox etc, I would just like to get it running again
thank you
Edit: OK - $50 reward for anyone who can fix it.
can you boot into recovery mode?
Press and hold Volume UP key + Home Key, while pressing these keys then press and hold Power key for a while.
Release all key when Android or Samsung logo appear then you will see Android System Recovery.
Use Volume keys to select Menu.
Use Power key to Confirm.

Yes I can get into recovery mode. However that is as far as I can get. I have tried all different versions of Odin and it stops:

I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think you can do anything great there without activating debugging mode in the settings. Otherwise, you could pretty much bypass all theft protection.
... tried something similar after forgetting my screen lock but gave up annoyed after a while ^^
If it is the stock rom, it should be Android 5.1., right? Maybe you can post your thread in another, less specified section of this forum. Otherwise you could still try it in the forum Android-Hilfe.de at MisterX31. [I hope with this recommendation I do nothing undesirable in this forum !?]He has already helped over 200 people personally and individually with a 98 percent success rate without asking for more than a thank you.
Hopefully I could help you with this answer. If you already know something new, please let me know.
@TessTickles did you carry on trying or gave up?
Does Odin find it when connected in download mode (Vol minus, pwr, home together) to your PC?
In recovery Odin will not flash it.
Btw which Odin version did you try it with?

It is sat on the sideboard doing nothing. Odin finds it fine, it just fails to go any further.
Odin 3.07 -> right up to the latest version (and every one I could find in between)
thanks
And what was the battery capacity like when you tried?
Checked different USB cables and USB ports for connecting?
The right pic is what you see when connected?
https://www.fonepaw.com/images/solution/download-mode-samsung.jpg
Odin shows it like in the attached pic?
And says <Added> in the box below "com"?

So you just want to flash the recovery and keep the system?
I'd recommend to flash the stock lollipop ROM consisting of three parts.
That would be like a factory reset.
Then start again with rooting.
The three part ROM you get with SamFirm tool in checking the binary box.
Insert model and region and check automatic decryption as well.

Hi thanks for the reply - it was never rooted. I was just trying to get it running again, reset is fine.
Never used SamFirm before is there a guide anywhere?
I have also tried downloading the stock rom a few times and it always times out on places like sammobile - where can I get it?
thanks

Easiest way would be to use SamFirm.
May take a while to download ROM, but never timed out for me and it loads directly from Samsung servers.
Doesn't have to be installed just start it after unpacking.
No real guide needed imo.
Quite self explaining.
If you search for it in the net you'll find loads of pics showing what to do.
Just be sure to insert correct device type, region and check "decrypt automatically".

Don't care about "deprecated" because for all my six different Samsung devices it downloaded all the stock ROMs.
After downloading just start Odin from a desktop folder (c:/odin is best)
copy all three downloaded / uncompressed files into it
go into download mode (Vol down, home, pwr) with your P900 and Vol up for confirmation
connect P900 to PC
add the different files in their specific Odin boxes
don't uncheck "auto reboot" in options
Hit start and hope it'll work
It always did on mine when I sometimes mangled them up when flashing ROMs that produced permanent reboots or other probs.

If you don't know the region code this might help:

I can open it with Winrar and I get a filelist of:
boot.img
cache.img
hidden.img
recovery.img
sboot.bin
system.img
Which are the three I need?
thanks again much appreciated
Ah
I'm sorry.
Forgot to remark that the "binary nature" box has to be set as well.
Plus the box "decrypt automatically".

Don't be sorry - I appreciate the help.
Did everything exactly as you stated... everything goes fine until I press start and then the Odin gets to "Initialization.." and thats it. Never moves, left it for an hour.
This is what happened before, tried everything and cannot get past initialization.
Thanks again
Well now we can just try different options.
Is Samsung Kies still running?
which Samsung mobile drivers do you use?
I don't have Kies and just use the mobile drivers.
Give older Odin versions a try as well.
The oldest one I have is the 3.04.
I just read that a repartitioninig with a .pit file might help, but that's quite dangerous to the device and should be the last option.
As long as the P900 is still reacting it can't be totally dead so there should be a possibility to revive it.
Do you have the possibility to do the whole process on a different PC?

Tried Kies a few times - it doesn't work. I can't remember what it failed though.
