Evening all, just bought myself a XOOM and I am loving it, I am just wondering if anyone can tell me if I am using a stock ROM??
Its an MZ601
Android Version 3.2
Kernel 2.6.36.3
[email protected] #1
Build
H.6.5-17-3
I am trying to weigh up wether I should try a JB ROM or just wait for the official version as I don't think it's that far off?
Are there any ROMs that support the UK 3G MZ601 ??
Thanks in advance!
Yup. Jellybean rom from team eos supports your device but 3g not yet working. But there is fully functional amazing rom for your device ics version from team eos. Check development section.

My device is still in warranty so iam a little worried to flash and void my warranty! Especially considering JB should be here imminently....
It also looks a little involved flashing a rom! I've done custom kernels and roms on android phones before but I didn't pay for them out of my own pocket (work phones)!!!
Thanks for the pointers guys!!

You don't even have ICS yet, so good luck getting OTA JB.
Flash EOS stingray ICS. It's a big improvement over HC.
Seems there is an EOS JB rom now for the UK 3G MZ601 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777987
Are there any pointers to easy to follow instructions to flash?

You gotta have an unlocked boot loader and a custom recovery to flash EOS jellybean. Check the development section for the instructions on how to do those things. Its pretty simple.

Hello, i installed the teamos rom stable a week ago, and i'm very surprised to receive what it seems like an official update to 4.0.4. So i have a few questions :
1. Is it safe to accept this update ? I mean without loosing the teamos features ?
2. Could the teamos propose its updates the same way ?
Thank you
1. No. You will end up in a boot loop.
2. They don't have that capability to my knowledge.

Nope. I would not attempt it.
How do we get rid of the update notification if we are running TeamEOS or Other custom ROM?
Yea I am having the same issue with cyanogen. 9 rom. Anyway to bypass it
Sent from my HTC sensation 4g using Tapatalk
you need to get the paid version of Titanium Backup and freeze the android updater process to prevent the update notifications.
Edit.. well this worked on my phone to get rid of the notifications.. but i cant find the program that does it on CM9.. so i dont know

Is this for the wifi only model? Has ICS officially come out for the 4G models?
I'm getting the same notification but I cannot find the android update process as mentioned. Any ideas?

4.0.4 can be found in n75 here http://goo-inside.me/devs/teameos/roms/nightlies/stingray/ the nightly's are more stable than 1.0 rom and 4.0.4 runs great on EOS n75.

I agree the solution would be to upgrade to a 4.0.4 teamos version. Maybe they could tag this as a 1.5 stable So « simple users» like me wouldn't be afraid.
The problem still exists since a new 4.0.5 OTA would cause the same problem......

system update 4.0.4 with teamos 1.0 rom
I would never try to perform an official OTA update after a custom from has been installed. That is just asking for trouble. You also mentioned that you were running team eos's rom. I can tell you first hand experience, I've been a very loyal team EOS from user for my Xoom for several months and typically load every nightly they put out for my model. The reason I point this out, is because most times the developer roms xda are actually much further along than the official updates. The biggest example is the fact that ICS is not available officially from Motorola/Verizon as of yet. Plus you get so many features and functions you will likely not see in the official builds.
Others - feel free to help me explain, agree, disagree, etc....
Good luck,
®obert
I've tried many, and I mean many roms, mods, and themes. Hands down - Team EOS is the single most exciting, knowledgeable, helpful and down right customer oriented in the Android Development groups.

However, to answer your question, you should just install a custom ROM. They are nicer.

install a custom rom.
Have you ever rooted it, or flashed any custom roms? I think that can interfere with OTA updates.
Either way, all you have to do is install a custom rom. I recommend the EOS ICS 1.0.0 rom. Check it out here.
Nightlies are better and have more features.

No! Nightlies are different
Only use nightlies if you know what it is. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who has difficulties updating his stock rom...
Getting the update message on EOS 1.0.0 now. I will agree this ROM is much better than stock
Hi folks. Ive been trawling through the forums in the developer section all day.
What I have it a US wifi only XOOM with 4.0.4 - was totally standard.
Now what Ive managed to do is boot unlock root it so far. What I want to do is overclock it. To do this I understand I need a custom ROM on it. But which one? Just want something tha'ts stable and works. I cant quite get that information from the developer section. Im not too fussed about JellyBean for the moment
Any help would be welcome
Cheers
Do you want jellybean or ICS custom ROM?
Team eos ROMs are THE ones for you, stable and super fast,
Mz604 jellybean ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28576370
Mz601 jellybean ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=171.
Mz602 jellybean ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28578992
Mz602 ICS ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21001782
Mz601 ICS ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=491
Mz604 ICS ROM from team eos. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20479464
Without doubt, team eos roms are the best. No debate about it at all.
As for ics , or jellybean, team eos ROMs ICS are fully customized and funtional even with theme engine. Lots of options included.
Jellybean ROMs are under development, but they are so stable, and compared to ICS, they are way smoother and faster including more options from source.
Team eos release updates and add features support constantly say every week at least which you flash with wiping cache and dalvik only. Their amazing work is appreciated and guess what, they do it for free. That is why we love them and donate to them.
As for the added features of jellybean on top of ICS by Google source, refer to this link. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28839960
Bottom line, catch team eos and preferably jellybean to feel how amazingly smooth and fast it is asap.
As for over clocking, they have this option under system settings for over clocking. And, you also can download off the market setcpu app or any other equivalent app to do the same job.
Welcome to eos xoomers

I did not see that! Duly clicked.
The url you posted for Mz601 isn't work for me. Can you double-check it? I tried to browse for it but all I found was what appears to be a EU version.
Hey everyone, I am not really familiar with rooting tablets, only phones.
A year ago, or something I rooted my Desire z, and was really happy with everything and the new features and ROM's I could flash.
But, how can you root an tablet?
And also, where could I find a tutorial on rooting the Asus TF101 ?
And after that, I was wondering what the most stable jellybean ROM is, with the most features working, I only use it for surfing the web, using apps, playing games and not really anything more than that, so if for example the radio does not work, I don't really mind.
As long as it's stable, and faster than stock!
My last question : Is it smart to root a tablet? Because phone's are sometimes out-dated, and you can root them and update the software with a custom ROM, but do tablets really depend on this software ? Or is it just rootable and still everything inside the tablet (hardware) works?
Regards!

So they are actually supporting rooting your device?
PS: Do you have any link to a tutorial, about rooting :fingers-crossed:
Also one more question : when rooting tablets, is there the same difference as with phones ? S-off, etc?
Regards
Anyone could help me out, please?
Kind regards
I don't remember which method I used for rooting (it was sooo long ago ). But check this thread out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688447.
As for JB rom, I recommend Team EOS 3, it's super smooth and works great! I also use TWRP recovery.
I used the same root method as mentioned above and it was very easy to do. Follow instructions. If I remember correctly you will have to check which model you have. Should be on a sticker near the connector port on the bottom. As for jelly bean I have never tried. But loving Revolver ICS.
Good Luck

For root try PERI tool or 1click rooting tools, I'm using the AOSP JB rom , pretty smooth so far.

As mentioned before there are many ways to root the tablet, and they are all great.
About JB ROMs, I tried them all and they are pretty much stable and even faster the ICS ROMs. I found Team EOS to be the most stable and battery friendly and I'm currently using their latest build(72) which is just great!

Hello XOOMERS! :highfive:
I just rooted my Motorola XOOM 3G Version - MZ601 (Named as Everest, correct me if I'm wrong!) Running on ICS 4.0.4.
The reason i rooted my device was to overclock so that some games don't lag on it,also i wanted to try Jellybean custom rom if available for my model.
Please provide the link for a stable jellybean rom for MZ601 Everest XOOM and also advice on which kernel to flash with.
I would be really glad if someone could help me
Hi new rooted Xoomer! Glad to see you here .
There are some good ROMs out there, my favs are CM10.1 and EOS4. But you can try some others . In the second post of my FAQ (Sticky in Q&A) I covered up most of Xoom ROMs out, hope you can find one really suitable for your needs.
Happy flashing .

I only flashed it using the recovery of tiamat.. Those were CM 10.1 and a gapps.. Thats all...
I'm running CM 10.1 and it is very stable for me. Maybe a bad flash. Did you try doing a fresh install of the ROM after wiping your XOOM?

MZ601 is Everest, but if you dont use the 3g (sim card) connection, Wingray will also work.
Everest (MZ601) = 3g + WiFi
Wingray (MZ604) = WiFi only
