Hi guys,
I tried following this Gedify tutorial http://www.simonjstuart.com/2011/07/23/gedify-your-non-us-wifi-xoom-for-n00bs/ and when I got to the part where I had to type in Gedify I came across this error: Entering Android Recovery Mode Reading ODM fuse:1.
Not sure what I am suppose to do now. Please help. I read all the entire tutorial before doing it and everything =(. Maybe this stuff just isnt for me.
no panic
just hold the Vol+ with Power until the xoom switch off, then quickly hold Vol- with Power until u see some thing saying Fastboot.

Sorry for the noob question, I have been reading the forums for 2 days now and can't seem to locate the exact method of getting into fastboot or Recovery from the handset, I have been using ADB. I have S lock off and I am rooted, I have CWM installed, backed up my stock settup with Nandroid but would love to know how to access fastoot and recovery without ADB for the times I am not at my pc and may need to access recovery. This is my first HTC device so the flashing process and the filesystem are very different from Samsung. I am reading and learning and the guides have been great, but not knowing how to access recovery from the handset is bugging me. If someone can post a link or explain the process to me I'd be very grateful.
Thanks!
Go to settings, power, and turn fastboot off. Turn the phone off, wait for it to completely power down, and then hold the volume down button and hold the power button (first hold volume down, and while still holding that hold the power button). It can take several seconds.

Thank you for your reply. I was just coming here to update it to solved, I finally found a thread with the process outlined clearly.
I hit your thanks button.
if your good with adb (seems like u are)... you can type the commands
adb reboot bootloader
this will get you to fastboot
edit: oops 1 minute too late lol
First,
I really want to thank everyone for their support in this forum. Everyone has been amazing.
I was trying to bring my MZ601 back to stock yesterday. Something bad happened during fastboot and asked me if I wanted to unlock my device. Then the screen locked up and didnt do anything. I rebooted the device and now it gets stuck in a boot loop with the EOS symbol (last rom I installed). When I enter recovery there is nothing there, all of my data is gone.
Worse the device is not recognized on my computer nor can it be found in adb fastboot. I have updated motorola drivers, but I think the device never gets past a certain point in order to be found.
Can somebody please help me.
Thanks,
Pretty impossible to brick XOOM's but i'll ask the basics. Can you get into recovery from a cold boot? Can you get into fastboot from a cold boot?
By the sounds of it you've just corrupted your rom or tried to re-unlock the device which would cause the entire sdcard partition to be erased.
Boot XOOM into Recovery, Fastboot, or RSD mode
So you need to get into Recovery to backup your XOOM (you do nandroid don't you?). Or perhaps you were working on creating new levels of awesome and something happend and you find yourself staring at the Motorola Dual Core boot screen with your XOOM refusing to boot any further. Fear not, you are only a few clicks away from finding your way back into recovery or fastboot goodness.
Turn your XOOM off
Press Power to turn your XOOM back on
When the Motorola Dual Core boot screen appears tap Volume Down repeatedly until "Android Recovery" is displayed
Press Volume Up to enter Recovery
You can also choose from Fastboot protocol support and RSD mode by using the same method but instead selecting their respective menu prompts.
Note:
If your XOOM is caught in bootloops or you find yourself stuck in RSD mode or Fastboot Protocol support you can hardware reboot your XOOM by pressing and holding Volume Up + Power until the tablet reboots (usually a few seconds but could be longer).

Hi,
Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, it seems that I have caused the entire sd card partition to be erased. That mean when I trry to fastboot my device is not recognized. Also, i cannot add anything to my xoom through usb. I have tried to flash through the external sd card, but to no avail. What do I have to do?
What does your xoom show up as when plugged into your pc APX? Can you boot into fastboot mode. with power off press power and volume down until you see fastboot.

Hi thanks for the reply to my message.
Unfortunately I cannot find my device when it is plugged into my computer (PC). It does not show up on my computer nor in the device manager. I can start the fastboot protocol on my device by rebooting, but I also cannot find my device in ADB.
Thanks for the reply, but I am still very stuck.
are you sure your device is in fastboot ? did you reinstall the drivers, try with another usb cable, adb shoud see the device after the drivers were installed correctly ...

I did everything I have done before. I have setup android sdk, java, and motorola drivers on two different PCs. Both fail to find my device when i type ADB devices nor does ADB reboot bootloader work. I tried the different cable, but that also did not work.
Hi,
I see that your problem is quite hard, try doing this:
1 - Force your tablet to shut down (vol+ + Power)
2 - Turn on while holding the vol- button
3 - Keep pressing vol-
4 - Plug on your PC and try fastboot devices, adb won't work!
5 - If 4 didn't work, keep trying until it does
6 - Install a Stock ROM (so you will solve your problems)
If the above don't work, contact me via PM, so we can talk easily (maybe GTalk or something like this). Good Luck

XxLordxX thank you!!!
I took your advice and just used fastboot. Then I flashed the stock rom I wanted to use. My xoom is back up and running. I really appreciate the tip.
Also thank you to everyone that responded in the post, again, that is why I love coming here.

I have this problem now but I don't know what to do. Please help me out
Bmorn V11, Goclever A73, Eken T02, Aldi Minitab, MyAudio Tablet Series 7, ASK 748SP at the very least look the same and are probably the same tablet. So much so that I ordered a Bmorn touchscreen for my ASk tablet and it worked. ...until I factory reset it from settings a few weeks ago, since then it started freezing up ocasionally and now I get stuck at one of the 3 boot logos but I never see it boot all the way. I hope it's not hardware failing.
I found a button behind the microphone pin-hole after trying vol + and power + home and the like for hours. Can someone please tell me how I get into what i presume is called recovery mode ? I tried pushing that hidden button with the power button, but it doesn't work. Is there even a recovery mode for this device ?
Someone claims there is no recovery mode and vol + and power should work ? So what's the deal with the button behind the mic hole ? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406429 "The device was strangely rooted when I bought it from the retailer. The instruction manual strangely says to boot into recovery mode by holding Vol + and the power button. I called the support company and they said that a recovery needs to be installed first. Using Root Explorer there is no recovery folder. (/recovery) - is there supposed to be?"
I'm on linux, do I really need windows to flash this ? If I fail, can I try again ? I used to get along computers really well, but android is currently totally confusing me. I found several images that might work, but I really don't mind trying out unofficial images. If I can try them one by one I'll figure it out eventually, but I'm afraid I might brick it or something. I've read about flashing bootable SD cards, but I guess that won't work here ? Nor will the images that are supposed to be flashed to an SD card work ?
I guess I'll have to bet on an image and find a Windows (I'm on Linux) machine and the rest is trial and error ?
Is there a page somewhere I could read to figure out the basics ? I feel really confused by all of this. Thank you !
I also found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23769918&postcount=3 which explains how to flash this, but maybe i don't need to go through that if there is a recovery mode ? And it also seems like those instructions are for t01, and it doesn't involve that hidden button at all. I guess this isn't what i need, right ?
I guess this should work:"Turn off your tablet.
You will find upgrade button located in microphone hole on the right side of your device. Press this button using e.g. paper clip. Next connect your device to your PC while
holding upgrade button" (http://www.goclever.com/data/upload..._d4d0bde076ab401d6cb98bb1b77713165b6ffb11.pdf).
I can't turn off my tablet. All I can do is force it to quit by holding the power button for 5 seconds, is that enough ?
I managed to get adb and although lsusb lists the device, I can't connect to it with adb. After a minute or two lsusb doesn't show the device anymore either. Do I need to have debugging enabled or something ? I was hoping to reset it with
Code:
adb shell
recovery --wipe_data
First let me say that I have been using google to look through this site for similar problems...as well as many other sites...but all the android forums use formats I'm not familiar with. I'm still learning about the site layouts and am searching and accept that this may be a common problem...if so, please forgive me asking.
I've got debugging mode turned on.
The tablet has been rooted.
I have the KatKiss 4.4.4 and gaps loaded on an SD card in the tablet.
When I go to try and get into recovery mode (power on + volume down, volume up within 5 seconds of boot) I get a loading screen and then what I describe as a dead android with an exclamation point above it.
If I hold the volume up button on boot the options I'm given are cold boot and a data wipe.
Is there something special that I'm missing to get the TF101 into recovery mode so I can update it 4.4.4 or later?
Hello. I accidentaly flashed a wrong recovery into my P5110 while no software was there. As a result I cannot boot into recovery or download mode. I get the following results depending on the combos:
Power on -> bootloop
Vol up + power on -> bootloop
Vol down + power on -> I get a menu with a warning asking whether i want to proceed to download mode (vol up=cancel/restart vol down=continue - both result in a bootloop.
Vol down + vol up + power on = normally bootloop but when the battery is off it switchess off the tablet
Is there any way i can boot into a mode that will give me access to fastboot or connect with odin/heimdall to be able to fix it?
Now you say: "Bye bye P5110 It was good to use you".
If you can't boot into odin mode, then there's nothing you can do except for replacing the motherboard... Who knows what that recovry did to your partitions especially if its for another device.
Ok the panic is over. Turns out that I'm an idiot and the volume + and - buttons are laid out the oposite to what I thought (it's my girlfriend mum's tab), so i've been using the wrong combos all along. :silly: Once i figured it out i got it into download mode no problem and reflashed with odin. PS. The broken recovery came from one of the threads here. I guess serves me right for flashing random crap without reading anything about it.
