Ditto. Refurb? Bought from seller not Verizon?
sent from my rooted SCH-I535 using xda premium

Sounds peculiar for sure. Refurbished is highly unlikely. Even at Bestbuy if a brand new phone breaks they don't have refurbishes available for a while.
what to do with my vgs3....

Try a factory reset
Go to recovery
There should be an option there I think
Vol up+home+power
Also should be in q&a

This should be in Q&A, but I don't blame the OP for not posting it in there. This whole merged forum is a mess. This thread would have just been lost in all of the other questions.

Questions never, ever belong in Development, no matter what the reason. I understand why it's done, but it will not be allowed to stay there, sorry.

Sorry didn't know not to ask questions there. I bought the phone new at the Verizon on launch day. I thought it ment unlocked bootloader, at least it did with my HTC Sensation. Wasn't sure if anyone else had that or what?

Then you need to review the posting rules for Development. If you didn't create it, it doesn't belong there - questions belong in Q&A. Sorry to belabor the point, but there are far, far too many questions being posted in Development, particularly by Verizon customers.

[Q] samsung galaxy s4g brick help

alright so i had one of my friends who has the vibrant on tmobile help me root and install darkys rom on my phone. since i had no idea i just let him do it since he has it on his phone. we rooted it use the onesuperclick. we took off the bloatwear and then put the rom on the sd card loaded it up in recovery and did the recovery then installed it. my phone hard bricked. nothing comes up or no download mood nothing even when pluged. but no worries i just send it to tmobile. but i wanna know if anyone can give me a guide to do this step by step so it dosent happen again when i get my phone back. thanks
The vibrant roms do not work on the 4g....until they are ported to 4g with the proper mods made to the rom they will cause a brick everytime
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA Premium App
1. no matter how much it looks like it, the s4g isn't a vibrant. there are as of yet no custom roms available.
2. people like you and your friend are the reason carriers and manufacturers are going towards more restrictive ability to root and signed/encrypted bootloaders
theirs no roms for the 4g?

i had the same hard brick problem as above but for me it was weird. all i wanted at the time was to get rid of the bloat where and i did after which i unrooted and the phone worked fine. the weird thing is later i went in to download mode by accident and before i could do anything the phone was bricked. tmobile replaced My phone but if this has happened to anyone else please reply

Will flashing the unlocked bootloader ruin the phone if I try to Odin back to stock ? Maybe a dumb question but as I don't have ten posts yet I can't ask in the regular thread. Sorry:/

Yes it does belong in Q&A, but I mean themes is better than putting it in development. Don't be an ass/troll to the new guy. If you can't answer his question or at least attempt, you don't have to reply. The mods can handle the misplaced posts (even though they probably tire of it).

That's my bad I did mean to put it in the q and a. Mods can remove. I think you just need to flash the boot.IMG and the normal stock in Odin. Ha

AFAIK using Odin to go back to stock returns everything back to stock including bootloader. Or at least that's what I've read

Developer edition....can regular version still be unlocked/rooted just as easily??

I am wondering if I still need to get the Developer Edition of the SIII to be able to root/unlock, install custom roms, tether, etc. or can all that be done on the regular version of the SIII just as easily that I can get at the Verizon store?
Thanks!

Yes its unnessesary to buy the dev edition. Hurts the dev community in the long run when people purchase it. Not to mention your dropping 700 bones on a phone that verizon wont touch or support. And has no warranty

Unlocked bootloader?

Does the s3 come with an unlocked bootloader? I think I've seen that you can buy it unlocked. Just got my s3 this Christmas and came from the droid x2 that always had a locked bootloader. I've got a lot of learning to do if the bootloader is unlocked.

One rooted, you can unlock bootloader and install recovery by using playstore apps "Ez-Recovery" and "Ez-unlock"

Sweet thanks. Also I'm aware that the American version has a dual core processer and 2GB of ram compared to the international version which has a quad core and 1GB of ram. His would this affect performance between these devices?

I made the same jump... x2 to the s3. Quite the jump huh?
my tapatalk signature sucks more than yours.
Yes I am absolutely loving the s3. The x2 had so many problems. Was out less than a year and Motorola stopped updating it. And the bootloader was locked. And there was but only 1 trusted Rom for it. Motorola provided absolutely no support. I'm glad I'm with Samsung now.

If you are already on JB which you most likely are you need to follow this guide
If you are starting with a new phone with JB pre-installed then the previously posted guide is the way to go.

Call US cellular and have them run the IMEI to check it.
Unfortunately, as far as unlocking it and putting it on AT&T, I'm currently not seeing any unlocks for that to make it possible.

Honestly, after doing some searching... the people in this thread link below may be of the most help to you. Phone unlocking and flashing isn't my most knowledgeable subject... and according to the thread below, it's somehow possible to unlock this CDMA phone to a GSM network... which would include AT&T. So, I wish you good luck. And maybe someone more knowledgeable on this subject will answer you here.

My suggestion would be sell the us cellular one and get the one you need. You can unlock and flash but you will be limited to 3g data speeds. Your calling and texting should be ok.

Make a backup of the stock ROM to your internal and external memory if you have an SD card in it. Go to that thread link I provided you earlier and see if it works for you.
You'll have to flash a ROM such as the one the thread talks about to get the menu.
