1. This does not belong in the dev section - next time post in Q&A section
2. Your signature says you are S-ON. If this is correct you cannot flash kernel files as is. You must either S-OFF or repack the zImage kernel file into a boot.img and flash using fastboot flash boot boot.img then flash the modules through recovery.
Tbh I would go for S-OFF because its much less hassle than the other way

Assuming you are on MIUI 2.7.13 (based on your signature) the sense based one then that is why. The newest MIUI messed up a lot of crap I was not able to flash bricked kernel over it either got the same exact error.

To solve your problem,
Format System Partition
Format Cache Partition
Otherwise, Even if you go back to the previous, It will not work, you have to reinstall everything from scratch.
Do you can reinstall 4ext Recovery.

The way I fixed it was by restoring from backup of viper rom, fixed the issue, tried installing miui again and see if it would allow me to install custom kernel, same error. it has to be due to the boot.image inside the rom

I think its because the MIUI China just had HTC Sensation updated to 3.33.401. That could create the problem

Im s-off and i couldnt install bricked kernel miui 2.7.13 and it worked on all the previous versions
I an error at the end when it flashed the. Modified boot image i got assert failed
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using Tapatalk 2

This Miui 2.7.13 has some bug

News?

ROM wont flash

I am aware that this is my third thread about asking questions but these questions are pretty much precise and hard to find just googling online, especially when this is my first time Rooting/Flashing ROMs.
I tried to apply the ROM and it didnt continue, it said it was aborted or something
it says
cant open \rom folder name
"bad"
Installation aborted
Hi,
U may need to give more specifics.....
Phone type?
Root method?
Which ROM is giving u the problem?
Which ROM are u currently on? Or is it ur first ROM after root?
Are u installing via recovery or ROM manager?
Lastly, I'd put this post in whichever ROM u are actually trying to flash since the development crew monitor that thread of their ROM.
Good luck
Vs Nexus S 4G
Phone type? Nexus S i9020a
Root method? manual root using command prompt in computer
Which ROM is giving u the problem? pretty much any rom, maybe Im putting it in the phone's memory the wrong way?
Which ROM are u currently on? Or is it ur first ROM after root? Im using cyberGR rom right now, but I had to do it the easy way and download it through ROM manager. Im hoping I could learn doing it manually
Are u installing via recovery or ROM manager? see above ^^^
to be honest I dont really know how to put the rom inside the phone... what I did is I just unzipped it to the folder inside the Nexus S( mounted storage to PC)
went to recovery and picked that folder, but then it says:
cant open \rom folder name
"bad"
Installation aborted
Ahh. Don't unzip it. Throw the .zip itself on the phone.

and same applies for custom themes, widgets, launchers, icons ect? How do I access it through the phone?
Any flashable zip can be installed by going to "install zip from SD card" select the zip file and it will install automatically.

If the author of the zip file says: "Flashable through CWM (Clockworkmod)" then it can be installed in this way. No unzipping required.
Aborted once again! here is the pic of my android files.Pixel Rom Zip is in the second to the last zip file

Are you sure you have cwm on there? Top of ROM manager, reflash cwm. Doing it manually is simpler than from manager. Just boot into recovery, wipe what you need to and install the relevant .zips.

its sounds like you dont have a custom recovery installed. if you did flash clockworkmod recovery from rom manager(i hate that app), chances are that your custom recover disappeared. try flashing cwm recovery through fastboot.

How do i restore dafault backup rom? (telstra)

(i was getting bootloops trying to restore the default/stock rom, so this is all i needed to do - for others viewing this with similar problem)

confused ?! are you not trying to restore the whole backup cuz flashing the boot.img is not gonna restore your backup but just the kernel really.

PG88IMG Splash screens

Hi i made a few splash screens for HTC Desire S... S-OFF phones. Just download the PG88IMG.zip that you want, rename it to just "PG88IMG.zip" put it on your sdcard (NOT in a folder) and boot in to bootloader, bootloader will find the PG88IMG and ask to update splash? press volume up for yes then press power to reboot.
Dont forget to delete it off your sdcard once your done coz everytime you enter bootloader, it will ask to update.
I only made a few simple ones so if anyone has any ideas n wants a splash screen then post your pic here and il make it.

Dunno bud. I tried all of them without issues and i just dowloaded one, renamed it and placed on my sdcard, booted into bootloader and it flashed fine, booted recovery, wiped cache then rebooted recovery and still no problem with mounting anything. Problem is at ur end...
Extract the file and put the .img file in ur fastboot folder and flash it from fastboot, its the best way anyway.
Command (i think) is
fastboot flash splash1 splash.img

Weird, it rendered my phone useless propably screwing partition table, had to change HBOOT to 9.8 then install RUU. I will gain S-off again and try that later though. Yesterday I was desperate and angry but looking back, much experience gained. BTW do you know some way to repartition nand (am I asking about right thing?)?
I dunno. Sorry that they didnt work for you and u had to go through the whole ruu crap, il remove them and close the thread, 1 person having a problem is one too many. They work fine for me but, hey, every phone is different.

Signature verification errors when trying to flash PAC ROM

Any time I try to flash a Rom or a script from SD card I get one or both of the following errors
E: failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
what exactly do I do to circumvent signatures?
I installed CWM Rom manager, as I can't find a version of CWM for 4.2.2
I may sound silly, but the error looks like you might be trying to flash unsigned zips from a STOCK recovery. Can you confirm what recovery you are using?
BTW, what do you mean you couldn't find CWM for 4.2.2? Also, just my personal recommendation - don't use ROM Manager, save yourself some trouble.
I have same problem and I cannot install custom recovery.
I'm using stock recovery because get the same error if I try to install custom recovery.
This is the rom what I want to install:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2525713
This is the recovery:
GT-P3110_TWRP_2.6.3.3.zip
These are gapps:

My device is:

Of course, you'll get the error. You have to flash the custom recovery in tar format using Odin.
Now it works.
I installed this recovery with odin:
GT-P3110_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.4.5-UNOFFICIAL.tar.md5
Then I installed this custom rom in the recovery mode:
cm-10.2-20131225-NIGHTLY-p3110.zip
Here is some instruction:

Thank you for the replies!
what version of 4ext recovery do you have? install the latest 1.0.0.6 rc3
I also had that problem at first but after updating that $ext recovery touch to the latest version, it worked like magic.
Thanks for the reply!
But how can I install new recovery tool without turning my phone on?
I don't know the method, could you share me a link to the tutorial?

You might want to install "4EXT Recovery Updater" app. It's free and maybe easier to use than flashing it via pc.
You should always check the OP, they usually state if there is a brand new version of recovery required to flash that rom.
