[MOD][DEV](5/24/12) Hide ATT Logo in Status Bar | DL Link up...

Hello. Currently, it hides the "AT&T" in both the unexpanded and expended statusbar. I can make it so it appears in just the expanded statusbar or put something else in the expanded statusbar (may take a bit, but should be fairly quick).
I have some testers, so if they say all is good, I'll put up the DL link straightaway...
I am working on working CWM port now, so I am just going to post, as it seems to work. Have fun, and use at your own risk!!! I'll also have an installer up soon.
Oh, THIS IS FOR THE 1.82 RUU, I haven't tested on 1.73, but I can make it for that version, as well, and 1.85 when it's rooted...also, you need to be Deodexed!

Hey, sk ...that Logo is not rom based...it's actually carrier based, It will display whatever carrier you are on..
For example, I'm on 1.82 att rom but it displays rogers, since i'm using rogers..
so when you changed to another network it will be the name of other network.
just want everyone to know, so they will not be that annoyed to have it.

I know. I produce/engineer music for a living, and my studio is out of comission for a bit, so I have some work I can do at home, but I generally have WAAAAAY too much time on my hands...

Thanks for pointing this out. I just find it annoying/redundant, and it's not in the carrier free One X, so I got rid of it. Like I said, I can add it back to the expanded status bar if people need to know what network they are on (and it's still on your lockscreen).

1) Rename Old SystemUI.apk to SystemUI.apk.old
2) Move new SystemUI.apk to /system/app/ with Root Explorer
3) Set Permissions to rw-rw-rw
Success on Magnolia X. (On 1.82)
Just to let everyone know it re-set my wallpaper to the default ROM one, but of course this is easy, just re-select the one you want!

i'm positive i pushed the new one. i had some graphical mods with my old SystemUI.apk and they're no longer there. i adb pushed this, too.

The wallpaper change happens any time you replace the systemui because when I was doing some theming of the apk it happened every time even when putting the original back. Just need to go into settings and reset it no biggy.

The download link in the OP is for android.policy.jar, yet the posts listed are for SystemUI.apk.
I'm guessing the download link is linked tothe incorrect file?

[Q] Sim Tool Kit on Stock ROM

Great, i made it! i got the sim mod and now i happily have my photon q fully working on the Colombian 3g network.
However, i have a trouble: generally almost all roms have a sim card apk called sim toolkit, which enables some gsm utilities and tools from the mobile carrier. i use it to make bank operations, recharge money on my prepaid account and another stuffs. but the photon q doesn't have this feature.
Can anyone tell me how to enable this apk on JB 4.1.2? i will apreciate every help you can give me.

Sprint does not include SIM Toolkit app in Photon Q firmware (for obvious reasons - without SIM mod, there wouldn't be any use for it).
I'm afraid that there's no simple way to add Stk.apk to the stock firmware - Stk uses shared phone uid, therefore the Stk.apk signature has to match the Phone.apk signature.
The easiest way to get the SIM Toolkit on Photon Q is to install CM 10.2 on it.

The phone FC when the stk.apk is installed, or crashes when the app is opened, depending on the tested stk.apk
So there must be something else in the ril, in the framework or in the modem fw itself to get it working properly.

Indeed, Stk depends also on other parts of telephony framework.
The best bet for your modified 4.0.4_7.7.1Q-6_SPR-125_CSP-14 would seem to me to use Stk.apk extracted from 7.7.1Q Atrix HD firmware.
You have to look for the reason of crashes in logs (main and telephony branches).
You can try to build Stk from 4.0.4 AOSP source. Then you can enable some debugging output from the Stk app and gradually modify its source until it correctly talks with the rest of the given telephony stack.

I'll have to wait for a replacement board for this, as my USB stopped working, so no logcat or so.
Maybe you remember since the good old times of Milestone 1 that I'm all but a coder, although sometimes I have the right idea about a lot of things. So is not said that i can do something useful with logs.

On ICS stock ROM, property persist.log.aplogd.enable=1 enables logger daemon (aplogd) to store logs in /data/logger or somewhere on sdcard (I don't remember the exact folder it uses). This can be used to get hold of the logs even without working usb.

I'm surely one of them. To be more precise I have little use of the STK with my current provider, but I like the challenge.
I was curious about the missing (and impossible to get working) stk, since the times of Droid 3 and D2g, but I never had the occasion to get deeper in the problem.

Most work on 442, no root needed. The odd/utilities are from cm4.3.
Some do not work on 442 but I thought some on 44 or 422 could use them.

Unrooted users: If you have a version in system/app then there is no point. You can only install the apps that are unique.
Rooted & wp off: You can paste away to system/app & set permissions rw-r--r--. Be sure to rename your original to ...apk.or or the like. Some may be odexed & I could up those files too.
For the odex files go to dev section & find odexed ROMs then use explorer to extract them. There are not many odexed ROMs.
A reboot is needed to install.

Couldn't find a odexed OmniRom. Guess I will have to wait for one or have the non root one not break on closing an app.

I'm confused what this is. I see you say no root in the title but unsure if you need to be unlocked or something. Like the theme chooser apk, I would think you'd need root for that. Sorry if I'm missing something obvious.

I am just sharing what I found. A lot need no root. Some do. I am not much into themes. Everyone is on their own. I am unrooted & the ones that, at least installed, I have put in a leading character of some kind (but the op apps are a mix). Of such I am trying those out. May report back. Others too can post their results.

The 2 with links work fine w/o root too.

If it will not install then it may work if pasted by rooters!

So this mod will enable new animations when you swipe to unlock your screen.
The above link will show you how to mod the apk yourself, But if you look at post 6 there is this link for a modified apk made for sw version .10i for D855.
This apk does work on our phones, it's not perfect though, it won't let you choose a stock image for the background, but you can choose from your gallery.
I haven't had time to modify our apk yet, but when I do get time I'll post it.

still crashes when picking a stock wallpaper... no idea why
If you use the D855 apk you just need to backup the original apk, replace it with the one you just downloaded, set the permissions to rw-r-r-- remove the odex file if there is one and reboot. Don't lock your screen until you reboot as this could cause issues.

What exactly does this enable? Are you suppose to do any other steps besides installing apk? Btw noticed you have a verizon version, just making sure you posted in the correct forum

It enables all the lockscreen weather animations. In actuality it started with T-Mobile version, then the got it working on Verizon and it works on At&T as well.

my GPS is off, I have it set to cell location only to save on battery life.
I set up a tasker option to turn GPS on/off only when I have maps open

Enabling all lock screen effects
That mod enables all the effects when you swipe the lock screen, it's not the weather effects.

As I mentioned to you before. First I had one set of lockscreen effects and after flashing a tot, dll I downloaded I had a different set. Are there stock roms floating around with different system apks??? Got all the effects working, will hit the thanks button.
BTW, weather animations do not work on all effects. I wouldn't expect them to work on ocean. I can live with it Just saying.

I don't know if the stock roms have different stuff but judging by your experience it sounds like it does.
I do think it's odd the weather effects don't work if you choose certain swipe effects.

Has anyone had any luck downloading this? I've tried many times over several weeks and it never will work. Why doesn't the author delete the post if he doesn't intend to maintain this? It's very frustrating.

[HOW TO] Install Live Drawings from Note8 without Root

So I just figured this out today, I have made Live Messages/Live Drawings work on the S8 without root.
*This might work on any Samsung phone on nougat, I don't have any other devices to test it with, if someone tests it, let me know*
@ashokmor007 made a video tutorial on how to install this. Follow this if the instructions are not clear or if you just don't like reading.

THIS WILL NOT SHARE DIRECTLY TOO A TEXT FIELD UNTIL WE GET 7.1.1 or 8.0.0. IT WILL SAVE AS A GIF YOU CAN SEND. (I expect 7.1.1 in October because of how similar the Note8 and S8 are so easy port theoretically, also from the lack of updates. Also a Oreo beta should start Mid-October)
Version 2 of this app is just the second update. It allows you to change the resolution of it from Standard to High and also allows you to view past ones. There are probably also some other changes I just haven't seen or looked at. To install, just uninstall the old one and reinstall it. You do not need to toggle secure boot for this.
How to do this amazing thing:
1. Download .zip file linked
2. extract said file
3. toggle secure startup setting on your phone (if its on, turn it off, if its off, turn it on)
3.5. restart your phone
4. Install the 3 APKs
5. Go to any text box and change your keyboard to 'Samsung Keyboard Neural Beta'
6. Set that stuff up
7. Hold down on the button you normally use to access Emojis or settings
8. Select Live Drawings.
9. Draw to your hearts content.
OREO KEYBOARD (May not fully work on nougat, but will install):

Been posted here before and they're available on Apkmirror. You just have to use Samsung keyboard which sucks.

You should look more carefully. The other ways require root. The one on APKMirror is built for 7.1.1 and is missing A required font and such. I had to mod the apk. Also the keyboard wasn't working on non-root because odex files. Here is one that works. So no, it hasn't been posted before for non-root.

when i try to install keyboard.apk and messages.apk, it says "App not installed. There is a conflict with existing package name"

Yup, since you modified the APKs, they won't install (since both the keyboard and the messaging app exist on the device with different signatures).

You need to toggle secure startup. Read the instructions. BTW the only modified app is Live Drawings. The others install but Samsung thing so you need to toggle secure startup then restart.

you need to make sure its installed then use the button in the button right corner when you open your keyboard to switch.
