[Q] Need help with rooting ZTE N5 Grand Memo

Hello :laugh:,
I have an ZTE Grand Memo V9815 N5 Flagship Phone APQ8064 Quad Core 2G 16G Android 4.1.2 5.7inch from China, and i was wandering if anyone allready has found something to Root this device.
I have tried the standard superoneclick, but thats not working and crashes when in progress.:silly:
I want to root it, cause i need Google play on it. I have installed Google Services/Google Framework, and i can setup an account in Google Play, but after the account stuff Google Framework/Google Services/Youtube service/Google Play crashes constantly
So i contacted ZTE for support, but there is no Rom, or any update for this phone.
I googled some, and at some websites they wrote to Root the device, so its not crashing anymore.
Please help me to get Root on my phone, so i can install Google Play Store.

Check your device manager. If it looks like the image follows, it means your ADB driver does not been installed successful.
This is the successful status.
If you can't install ADB driver by automatic installation. You can install ZTE Join Me(mobile phone manager software), it will intall ADB.
2. Recovery
Extract it into any directory.

Im stucked at the Flashrecovery thing.
How do i open this adb folder, cause i dont have that one.
I have the ZTE Joinme installed, and now what?
Where do i find these recovery files, which i need to extract.
Please help me out, im kinda noobie in this stuff

took weeks breaking my head up late at night from surfing the net to find some way to rooting this stunning smartphone. But I've been stuck due to no knowledge of ADB commands and of course having no Chinese idea, since supposedly there's an app that automatically Root the phone, but I can not make it work.
Having my disability, I share with you all the information and resources I've got to give you hope someone knows the correct usage.
And it is a shame that a HIGH terminal does not remove all power performance not ROOT and therefore can not set you GAPPS

Is there some lock in EU phones whereas at the end of the aforementioned process the phone does shutdown and remains, the terminal is waiting for device..., rebooting in system recovery cwm is still missing and every sideload fails, any clue? People on the River would be Happy to give from a remote location.

I just got the device. I tried installing a google play store apk (tried a few different versions) all installed but none work.
How can I install the play store? Do I have to root the device? If so, are there detailed (English) instructions somewhere?

I have installed the rom from needrom for the N5 android v 4.2.2. Took a while to flash the recovery, which is in chainese (driver issues). But still have serious connections issues:
The 3G network disconnects on restart and takes forever to reconnect. Wifi doesn't work! Built in keyboard is awful and also... chainese!
But it is rooted and has the google apps.
Does any one recommend a better combination of recovery and rom?
This is my wife's phone and she is having a lot of trouble with it.

How do you flash a Custom rom we cannot even install cwm?

I Followed downloaded the files from the dropbox posted upper in this thread. and followd the instructions in the previous page. Pay special attention to installing the driver for the divice. As soon as it reboots into bootloader it requires another driver.
Also if you must not restart the phone before flashing the rom otherwise it won't last.

Friend, there are two versions of this device in the market:
1. A706 (Chinese model)
2. A706_ROW (International Model)
The ROMs in this thread are only for the A706ROW model of this phone unless otherwise stated.
If you have the chinese model or another model A760 (which is a different model) then the ROMs in this thread are not for you.
Model A706 and A760 are two different models with almost same specifications. This DOES NOT mean that the ROMs of A706ROW are compatible with A760.
Please DO NOT confuse Lenovo A706 with Lenovo A760 as these are two different devices!!! Flash or experiment at your own risk!!!!

Recently, I have noticed that many people after buying the phone are flashing any firmware to their phones and most of the time without checking the phone versions and the OS versions. In the stock firmware post, I had mentioned that people having the Chinese version of the phone should NOT flash the ROW (international) firmware otherwise it would mess up their phone and network etc.
SOLUTION FOR SIM ERROR & DOWNGRADING TO CHINESE ROM

after reading the whole topic posts, and testing all the methods , the problem is solved [thanks to mixbox360's posts.] i'm going to just copy and paste his 2 separated posts.
BEST soloutions for these 2 common problems :
#1 device doesnt recognize simcards
#2 being unable to downgrade to the chinees stock rom
soloution of the #1 problem :
how I fixed: Just Installed the QNeonModern 1.7 ROM... then I installed the update of a chinese ROM from bootdroid (I mean putt the update.qsb file un the sdfuse directory o my sd card, then power and vol+ to enter the menu and selected SD UPDATE)... thats all... I have again my chinese rom with signal for calls untill we discover how to make work the athk board in the ROW roms.

soloution for #2 problem:
Ok trying again to put my chinese device in ROW rom with sim signal, and found a solution:
1:Flash via droidboot a chinese stock firmware I used the 130325
2:Rooted device with vroot and installed CWM Recovery via ADB
3:In the procedure to install custom rom Qneon one of the steps is to flash boot.img via fastboot... well I just didn´t do this step and flashed directly Qneon_1.7.1.zip via CWM
4: Did data/factory reset, cache reset and dalvik cache reset
5:Reboot system
An Ready! Finally got my chinese device in spanish and sim signal.

CWM Installation Instructions:

Make sure you have all the drivers for your phone installed on your computer. Download for A706 from here. Some other Qualcomm drivers (not sure if required)
Make sure you have USB Debugging enabled, Install from Unknown Sources is enabled and device is detected in ADB run this command:

Download the CWM Recovery for A706 from here.
Unzip the downloaded file to get a "recovery.img" recovery image file.
Press SHIFT key + Right mouse click in the folder where the file is located and select Open Command from Here.
Now, in the command prompt do the following:
a. Reboot into Bootloader mode. Use command:

adb reboot bootloader
b. Device will reboot and display Lenovo logo. (check if device is in bootloader mode by running command:
Code:
fastboot devices
. If you see a device connected then you have successfully rebooted into fastboot mode.
c. Now, run this command:

fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
(This will flash the CWM recovery image to the device).
d. Once successful, reboot the device using this command:

fastboot reboot
. Or, you can keep the power+vol up+ vol down buttons pressed to restart.​
If everything has gone well, this should get CWM installed on your device. Your device is still *not rooted*. Once you have installed CWM, please proceed to the ROOT instructions post to *root* your device.

INSTRUCTIONS
-----------------------
A memory card is required.
Boot into Android normally.
Connect your phone to your PC/Laptop with a USB cable and when asked (or in USB connection settings), please select USB Mass storage mode to mount SD card.
On the root of the memory card, create a folder called "sdfuse".
Unzip the downloaded firmware, you will get a QSB file.
Copy the QSB file to the sdfuse folder that we created earlier on the root of SD card.
Note: Please make sure that your phone has atleast 60% power before attempting or beginning upgrade. Or keep charger connected during the process.
SD card upgrade process:
Long press VOL UP + POWER_KEY to enter the droidboot,
A menu will appear. Select the fourth option, SDUPDATE.
At the bottom of the screen, you can see the progress and status of the update
When you see the message "SDCARD UPDATE SUCCESS!!!", this means you successfully completed the upgrade process
Now, reboot your device and hopefully it should be updated.
That's it! If you guys have found any more firmware download links (even for different regions, build etc.) just share them with me along with details and I will add them to the list in this post.

scuderialoki, unfortunate that you got stuck. worked for me without any issues. i upped the same file that i used on mediafire. can you re-download the file and then check if the file is ok by extracting the zip using winrar or winzip? if it is ok then try flashing it again.

guliboy123, i will be putting the link and some instructions on the stock rom post soon. bear with me as i have to check the instructions from the russian/chinese sites and then put it up here. in the meantime, i suggest you take a backup of your current ROM (which is stock) using CWM and then try out the QNeon-Modern ROM. remember u need to flash that ROM using CWM.

gr8techie thanks for the reply. i really appreciate it. just downloaded the flashable cwm however it's still the same bro. lemme tell you something though. i rooted the devices before using framaroot and everything is ok but i had to do a factory reset through the settings app in A706. i still see the superuser app in the system apps and i cant uninstall it. when i open the superuser app in the drawer it's giving me an error that the su binary is not installed and su cant install it.

ok, please tell me if you have CWM installed on your device? I believe it is not installed. if this is the case, then you need to flash CWM and then try installing the zip again.
if it is installed then, i believe the super su from previous rooting maybe causing the problem. check on Playstore for a method to unroot your device. or google it. then you need to root again. hope this solves your problem.

How to install with Odin
(USB) Disconnect your phone from your computer
Start Odin3-vX.X.exe
Click the PDA button, and select twrp-klte.tar
Put your phone in download mode (turn off phone, then hold VolDown+Home+Power to boot - if it asks you to press a button to continue, press the listed button, or run adb reboot download command)
(USB) Connect the phone to your computer
Make sure Repartition is NOT checked
Click the Start button
Wait for Android to boot
Done (if it took you more than 30 seconds, you goofed)
NOTE: Sometimes the device does *not* boot into recovery mode. Just do the entire procedure again if this happens. If it still will not install, make sure that in Odin "Auto Reboot" is not checked. Then after flashing, pull the battery, and boot with VolUp+Home+Power button to boot into recovery manually. This will start the install process.

PG, for some reason while flashing the CWM swipe, it fked up the platform.xml in /syste/etc/ . That caused Titanium Backup to stop function properly while doing a backup to external SD. Is it the recovery or its a problem with Kitkat ? I got the same problem with Note 3 ( Exynos and SnapDragon too ). The only way to fix was to do like this picture below :

umm I dont see that file in the system dump nor in cwm. So my guess is its a tibu issue.
not to mention, those look like app manifest permissions. And the Write permission overrides the read permission.

Yup maybe. On the Nexus 5 Kitkat, TB made restored apps force closed. But TB team fixed it. But as far as i remember, When i was testing your recovery ( pretty sure it was cwm swipe) after 2 or 3 flashes, problem arose. Ricky and me thought it was an SD card issue ( wrong permission, full sd card or something like that ) but it turned out the problem was the platform.xml . Not so sure as if TB made any change to platform.xml or not.

I just want it to completely wipe the phone before install new roms. so this bug doesnt matter to me if it worked

No its a F model. BTW, there is no Rom right now to install. ^^

according to a PM I just got, this doesnt work on G900H. By the description I was giving I think its the kernel and/or dtb. So I asked for a dump of the G900H stock recovery so I can extract the kernel & dtb from it.

I allowed myself to write a few batch files to help newcomers, as well as other users, under common title "Hibook-Toolbox".

It allows you to:
Unlock the new tablet Bootloader.
Unprotect system partition from changing (remove "Verity Boot").
Install TWRP-recovery ver-2.8.7.0, which I have ported to this tablet.
Get the correct ROOT in the right way.
Flash custom firmware (which do not have to wait long, I think so)
And other…. I will add if still need to be.
Attention! Whatever you do, you do it at your own risk!​

Preparation:
Unzip the archive to PC, but try not to use special characters or folder names with space in the paths to files. Better way is unzip to a folder in the root of drive C: or D:
Turn on ADB-debugging: "Settings"-"About Tablet" >-> Taps under the item "build number" until the caption appears "you became a developer"-> Return one step back-> enter the item for developers "-> Enable" USB debugging ".
Connect the device to the PC.
Install the Intel driver IntelAndroidDrvSetup1.10.0.exe
Usage:
1.Unlock_Bootloader.bat - Run first. It will unlock the bootloader. Carefully follow the prescriptions of the script and on the screen of the tablet. ATTENTION! All settings, programs, as well as all data on internal SDCard will be destroyed! Data on external MicroSD and Windows will not suffer. After unlocking the device will reboot in factory recovery, which does not display anything (stupidly black screen with backlight), the process may take up to 10 minutes (I'm shocked, but it's true), then the device will reboot in Android pristine clean.
2.Unlock_Verity-boot.bat - Run second. It will unlocking the System partition to can be changed. Carefully follow the prescriptions of the script and on the screen of the tablet. The device will reboot. Data on external MicroSD and Windows will not suffer. After all unlock actions, be sure to enter the option for developers and turn ON the item "Factory unlock".
3.Outside_boot-TWRP-recovery.bat - (It is optional. For obtain ROOT access). The device will be rebooted into the temporary session of TWRP-recovery, to Internal sdcard will be placed UPDATE-SuperSU.zip - install it using TWRP. Previously, you can make TWRP backup (recommended!).
4.Flash-TWRP-recovery.bat - (It is optional) TWRP-recovery will be permanently flashed into the Tablet. (Not recommended! Some time firmware will update, TWRP cannot install OTA-update)
5.Flash-ORIGINAL-recovery.bat - (It is optional) Flash back to the original Recovery.
ADB_shell.bat - Just a comfortable CMD-window for ADB-debugging and work with Android Shell.
Flash-Custom_FW.bat – My flasher to flash custom firmware, which I am sure will appear in future.
Useful console commands (ADB_shell.bat):
ADB reboot bootloader - reboot to FastbootDroidboot (flashing) mode
ADB reboot recovery - reboot to TWRP or native Recovery mode.
ADB root – restart ADB-debug service as ROOT.
ADB remount - remounting Android system partition to write (you need root-adb mode see adb root)
ADB shell - run Android-console (ash) through which you can run Linux-scripts, internal system commands, etc.
fastboot boot * *.img – run user-compiled boot.img or recovery.img
fastboot reboot – reboot to system from DroidbootFastboot (flashing) mode.
fastboot flash [boot, recovery, system, data] [boot, recovery, system, data]. img - In DroidbootFastboot mode, It will flash specific image to specific partition, example: fastboot flash system c:\Custom_FW\system.img - will flash only system.img to Android system partition.
PS. Under any circumstances, when using TWRP, never do not wipe system partition! Also make sure the TWRP-settings option "Use rm-R instead of formatting" is ON and never leave it. The fact of the matter is that "Verity Boot" marked System partition itself. Withing format the label disappears - the tablet won't boot to Android! This problem can be solved, but why You would make a problem?

Hi ! Can you share what tools you use for modding TWRP for HiBook and what files you have changed ? I need to do the same for Chuwi Hi10 DualOS, based on the same hardware, i want to port your TWRP on it..

I have installed root too whit this tutorial. It works perfect. If someone is interested in modding whit kernel or custom Rom i have accsess to all partitions from ubuntu on the tablet. Please ask me if you interested in somthink. The stock Rom and kernel are not the best.

I think its OK. It works perfekt for me. But if you not sure for yourself than dont do it. Thats all we can say. If you dont try it you dont See if it works or not. Its your choice. And dont get panic if the first vor second try dont work. I dont know how many trys i used and some times i was realy scared about my chuwi. But than i realized that i made something wrong vor forget somthing. After all the work and the shocks my chuwi worked perfect. But if you dont try it you dont know if it works.

you can root it and change DPI and resoultion ...
I'll post root tutorial later in this thread

@wgarnett I need firmware for v820w ch V3 gapps included, but I can´t register to download, can you share other link than baidu? thak you

I have update thread and give root tutorial , after root , you can find some DPI changer or resoultion changer app from play store

I have update thread and give another download link , if many downloads , it maybe show band limit message , you can try some hours later .

I don't have z3735f device
but you can try this root tool pc version
enable usb debug mode , maybe need to try root twice
some z3735f tablet work

I tried it several times, but unfortunately it was unsuccessful.
The main problem is that bootloader is locked and there is not any button in developer tab to enable OEM unlock.
I also tried “Intel Android Devices Root / Temp Recovery Session” in blow link;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/intel-android-devices-root-temp-cwm-t2975096
But it didn’t work for me.
Then I downloaded official ROM “V80SE_1.0.1_V1_Android5.1_20160908.rar “ from the below link:
http://www.onda.cn/Tablet_Supports.aspx?id=344
Then I followed “Root tutorial for intel atom Cherry Trail dual os tablet” from the below link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/root-tutorial-intel-atom-cherry-trail-t3468330
But I couldn’t find “\initrd\init*.rc”
Therefore I’m still seeking for a solution to root my “ONDA V80 SE”

my tablet use enable OEM unlock from developer option don't work too
but I run cmd in fastboot mode
fastboot oem unlock
it work , you can try unlock bootloader first and then try root tool again

developer option of my tablet has "OEM unlock" option , but when I enable it , after enter fastboot mode , message show OEM is lock
otherwise , to unlock OEM using developer option is no useful , you need do steps below
1. install intel driver
2. reboot tablet to fastboot mode first (my tablet press volume - key when reboot)
3. connect otg/usb line
4. use PC to unzip root.zip and put to c:\ , and then run cmd , and type : fastboot oem unlock
after do these steps , my tablet is surely unlock OEM
and then you can try root tool (http://root.mgyun.com/) again

try V80SE_bootimg_modified.zip , only for V80SE_1.0.1_V1_Android5.1_20160908.rar

rename one of them to boot.img and then enter fastboot mode to flash it into tablet
try signed version first , if not work , try unsigned version
if work , then you also need to find a suitable twrp version to enter recovery mode to install supersu zip
ex : google search z3735f twrp to find some other tablet twrp to try

Hi guys, I've earn a Onda V80 SE tablet recently and I wanted to root it.
I want to follow your indication but the link of V80SE_1.0.1_V1_Android5.1_20160908.rar in onda's web site don't work anymore.
Have anyone of you this file to share ?
