Samsung Infuse Keeps Blinking Samsung Logo - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hello,
I am posting this here because I dont really know where else to do it and I have run out of options and my head hurts from banging it on the wall too many times. I have a Samsung Infuse 4g. Its about a year old. Yesterday all of a sudden the phone just went to the Samsung screen and started blinking Samsung at me. I took the battery out after trying to turn the power off and that did work. Today it did it again. It has been blinking Samsung at me for the last seven hours and I cant do anything to make it go back to being the phone I paid such a massive amount of money for. I called the Samsung Customer Service number and they guy told me that if I got the Keis thing and upgraded from Froyo 2.2.1 to Gingerbread that was just released I should be fine as this is a software issue, I had my doubts about this because it seems like a hardware issue to me. Whatever after I got the phone to stay on for a little while by leaving the battery out for 44 minutes and some quick hand work I upgraded to gingerbread, and nothing. Ten minutes later it did it again. So right now my expensive paper weight is flashing Samsung at me and I have run out of ideas, options, and space on my wall devoid of holes. Can anyone help me please? OH btw my phone is not rooted and never has been. PLEASE I am desperate.

with the your phone completely powered down, press and hold both volume keys while plugging in usb to a computer. if you see a yellow triangle, you may be able to fix your phone.

Thank you. But what does fixing it entail? How do I fix this?

It will put your phone back to how you got it from AT&T.
Follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27283140&postcount=1
What they mean by download mode is:
Pull battery with phone unplugged completely
re-insert battery
hold volume + and - (do not touch power button)
insert usb cable to your phone (should already be plugged into pc)
You will now see a yellow triangle. If your phone powered on when you re-inserted your battery try cleaning or mashing your power button, something is wrong with it.
Good luck

yes. this is download mode. its a very base level of the phone thatll let you flash whatever you want. from here you can use kies, odin, or heimdall to reflash a working stock rom. ive never used kies, but if it is easy to get working, id recommend using that as its the official way from samsung and att to upgrade to gingerbread as well as restore the device incase of malfunction. odin is typically a bit of an extreme package to use, and most people prefer to use heimdall which you can find an all in one at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1524081 but since you need to flash bootloaders anyway, both are equally sketchy. try them out though and hopefully theyll fix your phone.

I'm currently having the same problem with my infuse...I got lucky getting into CWM once but never again. Other than that download mode wont work all that shows up on the screen is the flashing Samsung logo. If it doesn't go into download mode then am I screwed? cause I have yet to see a yellow triangle. .Any suggestions?.Please and Thank you

There's a few things that may be keeping you from download mode...
1) your not entering properly
2) your power button may be semi broken/stuck down (even if it doesn't look like it...the actual button may be stuck not the casing)
You can try a USB jig which costs about $5 on eBay...a USB jig basically plugs into the micro USB port on the phone and forces the phone into download mode

might wanna check this thread out... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764079 acording to the op, he didnt have luck with the usb jig until he replaced the power button...his last post also mentions that you could de-solder the power button and use the usb jig to enter download mode and/or power on the infuse...

before assuming it's the power button, are you absolutely sure you cant get into download mode? just to be sure before going through the hassle of repairing the button..
-take out the battery and place it back in
-while pressing vol up & down, plug in the micro usb cable

I've personally had this problem with my first infuse, and with my second but it came and went with my second and was a stuck power button. But with my first, according to the guy who tried to fix it, it was a fried motherboard due to overheating often. Nothing worked, I made my own jig and whatnot and it didn't help. But with my second one, it was just a stuck power button and clicking the power button hard enough would stop it.

As soon as the battery goes in the phone automatically flashes the Samsung screen. I ordered a jig to see if that fixes the problem but until it gets here, I'm very skeptical about my power button...would have sent it in but my phone is rooted.

I've tried this a few times but when i plug it into the computer it doesn't say anything and I've tried multiple cables. It just starts flashing the screen that you get when your phone is powered off and charging. I've tried getting to the screen that allows you to do a hard reset and either I'm really bad at it or it doesn't work either. I dont know what to do

Please help

[q] help! My phone wont do anything!

hey guys,
my phone litteraly wont do anything. i f*ed up some fonts using type fresh, then tried to restore using the odin3 downloader. i accidentally closed it, and now my phone wont boot up/react to any buttons pressed. any help? thanks guys!
had the same problem. i cant figure out how to even get odin working, it says one click but when i hook up it to odin it gives me a message that still doesnt tell me ****. i had to send my phone back for a new one and told them i used easyroot on the market bc i didnt know what it was and it sounded cool but now i know not to ever do that again that it messd up my phone. Praying to god that they dont charge my for anything
You should still be able to enter bootloader mode by turning phone off and holding down up/down vol and pwr simultaneously until boot screen flashes then release power button only
it wont even do that
open odin (use the stock one click version)
with the phone off (remove/reinsert the battery if need be) and not plugged in; hold vol. down and insert the usb cable (keep holding vol. down untill you see the download screen). this should put you into download mode and if you have the right drivers odin should recognize the phone.
I've stuffed my captivate on a few occasions and so far I have been able to use this method to get into download mode and fix it.
it wont do anything at all. it wont power on, show up in adb, anything... and stupid att wont do ANYTHING -_- oh well. any help would be appreciated!
Have any of you offering support to the OP actually had your phone in the described state? I've read a few posts where the phone is seemingly completely dead as the OP describes and no one says they've successfully recovered from that state. All I ever see is the same old button combinations/battery/usb shenanigans and statements of that should work and that the phone is unbrickable. I have personally seen a device that was behaving in such a manner and no combination of battery pulling, usb plugging, button holding, or tongue twisting would generate anything from the phone. The only thing the phone would do was get hot.
same here. Phone showed bright green screen...wasnt done with teh flash and said it was finished...now the nly thing I can get is power and hold the vlume up for some IRQ and hex stuff. I posted a questionthis morning but...serious. Vol up and down and any things else gives nothign but a black screen..battery out...back in anything..its torched.

Did you read the rest of the posts? The OP already stated several times that the phone does nothing. I realize that most people will say it does nothing or is "bricked" if it simply shows the "connect to computer" screen, but the OP has stated more than once that the phone shows nothing. Yes, everyone is trying to help, but simply repeating what has been said numerous times before doesn't help.
Has anyone actually recovered a phone that displays NOTHING? No logos, no recovery, no nothing.
Last night, i turned off the light in my room when i noticed a glowing from my desk. i walked over, and it turns out my captivate's screen was in fact on, it was just a faint black glow, and none of the power buttons would do anything. when i took the battery out, it shut off completely!
As I pointed out here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=757293
Im pretty sure it was my fault for not completely following instructions on the ext4 one click install root, settings.db etc so everyone needs to make sure if the dev says flash before..do it.
State of the phone was, it would not completely power on..therefor no usb drivers would load and Odin cannot see the phone and it can no longer flash..the only thing I could get it to do was show a screen with that text. I put in my post. I ordered it via letstalk.com so I sent it back and assuming they get the same result Ill have a new one hopefully by the end of the week. Im just glad I stil had my old iphone3 to slap my sim card in.
The odin one click flash thing..it just flaked right at the start it looked like..but I cant be sure because as soon as I saw a blue progress bar I stepped into the kitchen for abtou 30 sec..I came back and the screen was florescent green and Odin said it was done. I knew something was wrong as it was way too fast so I unplugged, removed the battery and set it back in...from there on out it would do nothing with the power button unless on a semi rare occasion if I hit the volume up button and power I got the IRQ stuff.
Annoying as I had a nandroid backup just before I started messing with it.
i just sent mine into samsung... back to mah ol trusty blackjack. gonna have to get used to supermario bros 3 instead of spyro....
ANYWAYS theyre sending me a new one!

Just a note... i said before hold vol down and plug in usb. I had it in a pretty bad state tonight. Played around. Same idea as before, but had to hold vol up and vol down. If i brick a few more times, i'll give a better guide. But this phone can DEFINITELY come back from a state where you can't even get it to power on. Figured any additional info on this would be good.

[Q] Captivate powers on, but I get a black screen

So, I was trying to flash my captivate back to a stock rom using odin3 when it errored half way through. Now my phone will power on, but the screen is just black. No recovery mode, no download mode. Nothing. Is there any coming back from this?
Sounds like it may be time to make yourself a jig. Have you tried pulling the battery and putting it back in, then holding vol up and vol down when plugging in the usb cable?
If you haven't already, try taking the battery sim card and memory card out. Put only the battery back in. Start odin. plug the usb cable into your computer. Press and hold just the volume up and down keys. Insert the usb cable into the phone. Does that get you into download mode? If not, then do a youtube search for "galaxy s usb jig". It will take a little work, but you will get your phone working again.
I've tried all that except plugging in the USB while holding the volume keys. I'll have to give it shot. If not, I'll look in to that jig. Never knew what that was until now. Guess I've just been lucky, I haven't needed to know.
Wow. It worked. So simple. Thanks guys.

Hard Bricked Fix?

I recently hard bricked my phone it wont turn on, hold volume key and try putting in download mode. Connected to Charger no background picture or lighting at all. So i was frustrated and messed around with my phone and apparently unbricked it.
I held down the volume keys power button and plug in a usb jig and it went into download mode after numerous attempts trying to turn on the phone show some kind of lighting to just regulalry use the Usb Jig. if you have a hardbricked sg4g u can try this method.
I hold the volume keys for couple sec then plugged in the jig and it went into download mode after numerous attept to get some kind of BAck lighting to use the jig regularly
ack lighting

Yeah I used a usb JIG to fix my friends captivate the other night. JIG is apparently pretty universal to get into Download mode on samsung phones.
I'll be keeping that JIG handy in case I ever need it again . I took a iGO power tip and stripped the black rubber off, then disconnected the iGO part from the USB wires. Then slowly removed the silicon plastic from the wires.
Touch the yellow wire and black wire (pin 4 and 5) with 3 connected transistors and bing! download mode.
Was his regular bricked? Like it showed some kind of lighting?

His was bricked in the sense that you could turn it on, but it did nothing. Yes, lighting but nothing happened. No AT&T Logo etc.
As soon as I JIG'ed it (3 seconds holding the transistor ends on the 4 and 5 pin) it instantly brought it into download mode.

Jig is just another word for tool. In this case a tool to get a bricked samsung device into download mode.
Read up a bit in this thread. I stripped an iGO power tip ($10 at radio shack) that is for the USB port on samsung phones. Then used three transistors wrapped around and covered with tape ($0.99 at radio shack) to touch the yellow and black wire (pin 4 and 5 on the usb end).
This causes the phone to go into download mode when the 3 button salute and other options fail.

Yep, you are correct. I already had the materials. Additionally, wasn't a situation where if I had to go get them I wouldn't. Waiting for shipping would be too long.
Definitely multiple ways to get a jig.
very good info Joe, I bookmarked this in case I run into the same issue.
you're all talking about SOFT bricked devices here...
If you have backlights when you turn the device on, but no on-screen display (no AT&T or custom ROM logo), your device isn't HARD-BRICKED.
With the exception of the first run / initial batch of Galaxy Vibrants, the 3 button recovery and/or download mode options should work just fine (and you don't need a JIG; but it doesn't hurt to have one handy. My buddy's I9000 would NOT go into download without a JIG; but my SGH-I897 would, no problem).
Holding VOL up & VOL down while the device is off and then inserting the USB cable will put you into download mode. if this works, you have SOFT brick, and can breathe easy.
HARD bricked devices have no back-light response -- not from A/C *or* USB. They don't turn on, and the JIG does NOT work... I am speaking from personal experience here. Flashing does have its risks...
The only way I personally know how to fix a HARD-bricked device, is to send it in for warranty repair/replacement (and hope that Samsung doesn't dig too deep into why the device is borked).

or be one of the lucky few that spent the money on a riff box jtag
For the price of a riff box you can buy a new phone (more or less. you're looking at about $229 + shipping -- and there's no guarantee it'll be successful).
The dude who makes Cognition ROM (@designgears), hard-bricked his galaxy and the riff box jtag didn't fix it, FYI (according to his tweets).
After I sent my SGH-I897 in for service, I replaced it with a new-in-box/unopened Dell Streak 5, for CDN$50 (total). So, even if Samsung send it back as-is, I'm only out the cost of the captivate ($550) plus $50-- which, at the end of the day, is still better than a kick in the ass with a frozen mukluk.

[Q] (SOLVED) Bricked/Bootloop weird

Hey guys,
I got an infuse from a friend. When she gave it to me it was all stock and functional minus the fact that it would bootloop. When you would turn it on it would show samsung, turn off, samsung, turn off... About 3 seconds per on time. It would do this whenever it had the battery in or was plugged in. At first I was able to get it into download and then flash stock OEM. This fixed the problem, then I got into recovery and flashed a custom rom. All of this worked fine. Here's the problem
I tried restoring to the stock that I got the phone to before the custom rom was installed. This took 25 seconds and I knew something must have been wrong but I rebooted anyway. When rebooting I was faced with my original issues up above. Unfortunately its rebooting too quickly to put it into download mod. By the time I press the volume buttons and insert the usb it already boots and then starts over. If I do it quickly enough it goes to charge and bootloops to charge. The problem is that the phone bootloops whenever the battery is in. I don't have to press power for it to start.
Pretty frustrated and really would like some help. Thanks
EDIT: I ****ING FIXED IT!!! I swear this isn't a joke... I was reading a forum that had this problem and they all were saying they got angry and threw it/hit their phone and it booted up. Sitting there I eventually started entertaining the idea. I did a quick survey of the library I am in and... smacked it on my fist. THEN THE ****ING THING BOOTED UP!! What the hell!! SO excited. If it happens again, most efficient way is to drop the device on the top off the phone on a carpeted floor from about 2 feet

psal may be on to something however it sounds like you are not trying download mode correctly - if you had the battery pulled and the usb disconnected it could not be rebooting.
Edit: If the power button is sticking, most likely no need to replace- here is a video of how to replace the screen, not what you are doing but the point is it shows how to take the phone apart so that you can clean the power button. Hope this helps : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WS5I0SpL6c

It reboots only when I put the battery in. So the moment I put the battery in to try and get it into recovery it starts booting immediately. It doesn't give me enough time to actually press volume up and down and then insert usb. If i do it fast enough it just boots to charging mode and boot loops to that instead of the samsung splash
Edit: I have already taken apart the phone. Not really sure what I should clean. It looks completely fine and acts similarly to the volume buttons. How would you recommend I clean it?

I am not so sure that this is a hardware issue. Why would the problem disappear when I flash the OEM but then return everytime I restore to the faulty stock. I already took apart and the power button seems pristine.
With this extra info, it is pointing more toward a sticking power button with a hardware issue still something to consider... have you tried pulling battery, install usb, hold both volume buttons (no power button) and while continuing to hold vol buttons insert the battery ?
Edit: If the issue is indeed in the faulty rom, delete it and use something different.

Not sure how I would delete the rom because I cannot boot the phone, boot to recovery, or boot to download. I did try having the usb in, holding volume and then putting in battery. It didn't work. Do you think a jig would work? Thanks
Yes, I think for such a small price it is worth a shot- best of luck !!
It would also be worth mentioning to be certain you have a good usb cable as well as a good usb port on the puter.

Hey guys,
I got an infuse from a friend.
Thanks

I can't do this because in order to go to download mode the phone needs to be off. The moment I insert the battery it automatically starts bootlooping
Pony and psal are prolly right. Try fixing your power button.

[Q] Help! True infuse brick and loop

Hey Gang! I have a not so common issue, from what I have searched and read.
I'm trying to fix a friends Infuse 4G from looping at the Samsung screen. Also the phone would power loop when battery is inserted and charge loop when plugged into the USB Cable. Nothing I have tried has worked.
Tried:
1. 3 button to CWM Recovery. FAIL
2. Volume up/dn held then plug USB in for download mode. FAIL
3. Plug in the USB with no battery, hold volume up/dn, insert battery for download mode. FAIL
Ok... now being really familiar with electronics, I made a JIG from a tutorial and here is the fun part for those that want to help out....
I plugged the JIG in, inserted the battery and behold... I got the download mode screen... but it too is LOOPING!!!!
So I tried a quick switch. Inserted JIG, Inserted battery, got the download mode screen and before it looped, I replaced the JIG with the USB Cable. FAIL! It started looping with the Samsung screen.
I am stumped! Can anyone help out or know how I can get past this issue so I can Odin or flash back to stock without backtracking to what I have already done?
Thanks in Advance,
Scott

Will check it out and will report back. Thanks again
That's definitely a messed up power button. My power button is messed up also. About every 3 months, I have to just slam the power button on a hard surface and it goes back to normal. Just a quick fix if nothing else works or if you can't fix it.

I may suggest tapping it or taking it out for a cleaning.
Or replacing it or even remapping it..there are 2 threads in the general section that is relevant.
I don't recommend slamming it though...what is good or omar's phone may not be good for zero's phone.
Lol valid point. Hope everything works out for you tho. Some people have gotten their power button fixed for cheap..don't know exact prices.
