Launchers for Tweaked 2.+ ROM - Verizon Droid Charge

This is just a simple collection thread for links and downloads of launchers that have been found compatible with dwitherell's Tweaked 2.+ ROM
Obviously we know about the launchers in the market but I'll list them as well. This thread is mostly for the launchers that aren't on the market, but feel free to discuss any launchers that work for our beloved Droid Charge and the awesome Tweaked ROM.

I don't know too many either but I figured that a thread to discuss all the different launchers would be better than posting and discussing them in the tweaked ROM thread which is already big enough lol

The Xperia S Home launcher is the fastest in the group. I can vouch for that.

It is fast, but lacks the extras I like, Im staying with go launcher...just a tip for everyone that likes go launcher...if you convert it to a system app using titanium backup it runs much faster and smoother...but Xperia is still the faster of the two but not by much
Has anyone been able to get Phoenix Launcher working on the Charge?

i was a GO fan until you turned me on to Holo. GO was quick, but I thought that it was using too many resources. I think Holo is slightly better.
also, speed is more tied to locking in the home screen via build.prop than anything else in my experience.

I'll test out GO as a system app. I found it quite slow before.

I tried the Holo plus version....and it was so little difference I can't remember if it mattered....xperia has been the fastest and allowed me to overclock to 1400 undervolting it slightly.. ..that has never been possible for me until now...I do miss the app drawer from adw and Holo...

I tried to set Go Launcher as a system app. It sat there for almost 10 minutes trying to convert it. Does it always take that long? I shut off Titanium but when I went back it was still locked into trying to convert. I had to reboot then un-install GoLauncher and re-install to get it back. Maybe if I had rebooted before I tried it might have worked?
Actually GoLauncher was always pretty fast anyway. Maybe I shouldn't have messed with it.

I've had that happen before...I'm not sure how long it takes but it does take awhile...if you try again...open tibu then exit...go to settings/apps and clear the defaults of go launcher then force close go launcher...hold the home button till the recent tasks pops up then select TiBu and then go ahead and try converting...sometimes Tibu had trouble force closing go launcher when it tries to move it

I've always found Go to be far and away the smoothest launcher I've used without doing anything like moving it to system. Even launchers that advertise themselves as being lean and smooth suck in comparison.

Lmao!!!
Back on topic, I've gone from LPP+->Adw EX->Go Launcher->Holo Launcher Plus and I'm trying out the Xperia launcher. The Xperia launcher is very fast, but ever since trying Holo I can't seem to go back to another launcher. I love everything about that launcher, especially the plus feature of having customizable tabs in the drawer. Holo is super smooth and fast with all the features I need as well as very lean.
Overall, I think all of these launchers are better than the resource-hog known as the stock TWLauncher, lol.

I've tried one but I wasn't impressed with it. I feel that since I'm bumped down from ICS to GB again, the launcher selection is a bit frustrating. Apex Launcher was my last favorite but alas, I digress.

Hello, I am new to this thread and have read through everything here. I am running Holo as well for the features I w wondering if it is necessary to convert it to a System App as well and if there will be any difference in speed etc. I have TB but am not familiar with the process of converting them to a system app. I have and used Launcher Pro before Holo. Can you please let me know how to do this.
Thank you in advance,

i personally thought it run faster when it was on the system...all you would have to do is open titanium backup...find Holo launcher...press and hold until a menu pops up...select "convert to system app"...wait for it to finish

i personally reccomend adw launcher ex if you dont lkike sense. its feature packed. i bught it when i had my captivate and it was a good launcher
Like adw but, anyone doubting launcher pro on this thing should really try it. Very fast and seems to be helping battery. Don't get me wrong sense is beautiful so I switch between the two.

Same here. One of the reasons I went with this over atrix. Keep trying diff. Launchers but none compare to sense. Plus battery does better with it, seriously. This phone was built for it even though I don't use all features.
Running a custom build of Launcher Pro, well see if there is a big difference in battery consumption vs ADW vs Sense
Obviously if you have tons of widgets your battery is going to go out quicker than usual
Update: completely abandoned sense and installed zeam. Fast fast fast! Also removed everything sense related in titanium backup. Battery doing very well for its size.

Just an update for anyone that's interested in Launcher Pro, I have had the phone on for 19 hours and 7 min and according to the battery usage within the Inspire it as only used 2% of the battery. I'm constantly utilizing it and changing the icons and dock background as well.

[Q] Recommended Launchers and or ROMs

Hello, I was just making this new post for anyone that has been playing around with the I727 or I727R
I have used ADW launcher but it does not seem to have ALL the features of TWlauncher
Anyone have any recommendations on launcher or rom? have a post
I used ADW in the past but after a lot of freezing and other problem, I switched to Go! launcher and love it.

I use Rom Toolbox for my fonts. Great app! you can download a free or paid version. after installing the font from Rom Toolbox, select Default in settings/display/screen display/font style.

Thanks for that reference, hadn't found that one yet. Going to give it a try. Regina home works great on this phone, tried it once on my captivate = lots of lag. With the dual processor it flies though. Its a resource killer but great for showing off. I use adw for everyday purposes and LCD resolution app, set to 200. This let's you take advantage of the 4.5" screen IMO.

the only smooth launcher is launcher pro.
I'm using Go Launcher and love it.
But it does crash sometimes in the sense that the launch icons all turn into "+" symbols. Also sometimes I'll have to press more than once to launch something.
TW is not choppy for me. I don't know man...I have also flipped Willy nilly between different roms (stock root, all alien builds, s-stocketeer (1.0 & 1.5), back too nandroid, & once odinĀ»to stock (almost forgot i flashed CRT off zip as soon as it was posted as well). All without a hitch, not sure if its dumb luck or what. I got my I727
on launch day & have followed forum ocd stylee. I have read several more experienced users @ least temporarily flame out with fc's. My device has been a rock.........so far

I've been using the ICS Launcher now on mine and have been enjoying it. Very fast scrolling and I love the looks.
I've used Launcher Pro, ADW EX, and SPB Shell in the past. All good launchers. For customizing, ADW Ex is one of my favorites.
You may just have to try them all.
You can use ROM Toolbox for fonts, they have a ton on there. I have tried a few of the other tweaks but they have not worked and I end up restoring.
The Best and most supported Launcher
I have tried ADW EX and all the launchers out there. I am now using and loving " GO LAUNCHER" it constanly has updates, widgets, SMS app and themes for everything- VERY VERY customizable- Alot of themes and wigets are absolutely free !!! Runs fast also- Try it out- you will now be disappointed....

I'm using the Humble 5.0 ROM...
I have also had the GummyCharged rom..
so I believe I have used the ADW launcher.
I heard a lot of people talk good things about the GO LAUNCHER
Then I heard about Launcher Pro, etc.
sooo many choices.. not sure what the benefits of each are.. but I don't want to try out a ton of them..
I like Go Launcher EX the best. It combines the best aspects of ADW and Launcher Pro, and it has the best looking landscape mode of any launcher out there. But, it's always personal preference.

Is there any way someone can port touchwiz 4.0 from the T-Mobile galaxy s 2 to work with our kj6 roms? (Valahalla, octane v3, etc). The 4.5 comes from the fact that it was a modified version of 4. This launcher automatically comes configured with the stay in ram feature selected- it's been awhile but I am sure that Launcherpro has that feature as well, but it is by default off. Try disabling that and see if it just fc's the launcher (thus resulting in a restart of the launcher) as opposed to your phone crashing. Thats really the only thing that would separate it from other launchers. You can turn the 3d effects off as well to help with the ram. I always make sure to kill passive processes- then again I do not use octane so I am not sure how it runs.
I never had problems with the app drawer. You can change the sorting preferences in the preferences menu of the launcher. It is by default on unrestricted, but you can change it to alphabetical.

I tried turning that off, launcher won't even open anymore so I had to reinstall it. Tried running it for a day but it just doesn't work on my phone which is currently running valahlla final. I have the app drawer set to alphabetical but it still doesn't sort properly. If I install a lot of new apps or delete a lot of apps, there are lots of blank spaces and the only way to get rid of the spaces is to manually move each app one by one which is really a big pain. I just want stock touchwiz 4. I hope someone can get it to work on this phone. After playing with my brother's galaxy s 2, none of the launchers on the market feel anywhere close to that smooth.

Yeah go launcher is pretty good. Still isn't as fast as launcher pro though. I really wish we had a stock touchwiz 4 launcher for this phone. Tw4.5 freezes too much and no other launcher out there really comes close to how fluid tw4 is. I've tried like every launcher in the market too.

Why are you resurrecting old threads and posting the same thing in each one?

[Q] TweakStock and TouchWiz 4.5? Possible?

Has any brave soul tried TouchWiz 4.5 on TweakStock yet?
I haven't been following TW 4.5 so close... are there major issues with it still that would prevent it from being a more viable Launcher option?
I guess I could go back to ADW. It's good. I just haven't had TouchWiz for so long that I thought I'd give it a try again.

Best launcher up to date is Go Launcher. It's smooth, fast, easy to use, lot lot of features, themes and add on. It's make your phone operate faster without any mod.

I really liked Go Launcher until I started getting Force Closes on it left and right. I'm using it again now and so far so good. I loved it's calendar widget.
I must say I'm quite fond of the free ADW launcher. I have the Pro version as well, but I ended using the free version.
I turn off every scrolling/visual effects I can, change the backgrounds to black, and show a 5 x 5 grid. Its blazing fast, no redraws, just nice and fast...

TW 4.5 isn't in Infinity. TW4 Launcher is in InfinityROM, and TW4.5 is just a hacked TW4 launcher so that it can run on any framework. It may be older (or newer), and may not have as many issues, but that would depend on the people that are working with it.
