I am not a noob at porting, or at least I thought I wasnt....
I need two things, How would I go about porting android to a palm pixi.
and the second is, I need help porting CM9 over the the pantech burst. (Thought I built it right, but for some reason I keep getting boot.img errors in recovery..)
please PM me or reply here. thank you.
not sure about the pixi but they found a way to make the boot.img boot-able. apparently you have to manually set the ramdisk address

As the title says, I'm looking for anyone who has the knowledge to help me in my attempt to port the CyanogenMod 3 way reboot menu to the D1 MIUI ROM.
There is a tutorial posted up at miui-dev.com: [PORT][MOD] Porting Evo 3 Way Reboot To Other Devices
But unfortunately, Bigrushdog's tutorial is riddled with incorrect line numbers and does a poor job of explaining what exactly needs to be edited for anyone that does not have a very high level of Android development knowledge. Also, the files posted on that thread have conflicting information from what his tutorial describes. And apparently, he won't, "Hold a noobs hand", as he himself has said in IRC when asked for help.
So I'm seeking a calm, patient and knowledgeable person to help me achieve a very complex mod.
I've posted this in this section since this mod can be preformed to any CM based ROM, I just happen to be asking for help to do so on the D1. If this is the wrong section for this, please fell free to move it to the correct section.
Thank you in advance to anyone who responds.
Alright devs, much help needed to develop a fast/clean ROM for Flytouch2 / SuperPAD... All we've had is the #3925 upgrade and little to no support. Rgocal (androidtablets.net) has been developing a new launcher for the tablet and is near the testing phase. He also has Recovery built, but is in need of how to package it into a file for installation via Clockwork ROM manager on our tablets. It should make deving much easier and custom ROM's a breeze.
Many thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. Please PM me or check www.androidtablets.net/forum/gome-flytouch-ii-firmware/19602-source-code-superpad-devs.html for more info.

I guess I'm stuck with this one on my own.

Do you need instructions on how to make a .zip that is flashable from within ClockworkMod , or did I really read your post miss? If it's like this I can help you.

That would certainly get me started. I know how to make a .zip file, but where to install it (in clockwork) would be something different. I need to make sure all the files are there that I need to work. We do not have a working recovery for this tablet. the process is coming along, but slowly. I am learning this as fast as I can, but we need help.
There is more to it than that, but I guess I wasn't spacific enough. I am relativly new to this, but I do know my way around. I can provide a list of things we need assistance with if this will help.
I didn't think I was being too obtuse in saying that we needed help. When no one responded, I figured that we'd be on our own (as usual). If my comments have come off as crass, then I apologize. Its not been easy to learn this coding, etc (understandably). This tablet, the redheaded stepchild it is, is hopefully going to be something to be reckoned with once developed.
Our next BIG project will be to work with a ROM like cm7 to utilize the gingerbread platform. I personally, would like to see a Honeycomb port, but that is in the distant future.

Sorry in advance if this should be in Q&A (mod please move if inappropriate) but my question has to do with development so....
Anyway.. was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of any guides or helpful threads that would help teach me how to port a rom. I am wanting to start to learn how to make custom ROMS and figured this would be a good place to start as the heavy lifting has already been done by the real devs...
Specifically looking to port lets say a nexus S rom for use with the NS4g for now.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
I was wondering the same thing. It seems like so much good is coming from the Nexus S section, that I would like to help bring it to the 4g side.

Yes, I know. Me too as well, but there's no guides on porting or I just can't find any. If anyone knows any guides on porting, point us fellows in that direction. thanks!
Man... kinda sux... no one can help at all?
First, this belongs in Q & A, hence no answer , second, it should be pretty easy, nandroid, switch out rild, and rils, make correct edits to build prop, and a kernel for ns4g and you should be good to go.
Are there any guides out there that perhaps detail this process a little bit, I would like to start porting some ns roms over to ns4g. I followed the steps provided by the previous post, and got most everything booting for the new miui rom with ICS however the wifi still doesn't work and it will not allow me to flash a different kernel as afterwards it refuses to boot. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hello, I am new to XDA-Developers and so this isn't in the Development forum and I'm sorry for that. What I need to ask is about making a ROM. I want to make a ROM out of the AOSP Jelly Bean ROM, and port it to the Triumph:laugh:, but I don't know about compatibility issues. My question is: Do any of you guys know if the Triumph is compatible with dsixda's ROM Kitchen? It isn't on the supported devices list, but dsixda himself said that more devices might work with it, so if any of you have tried using the Kitchen I'd like your help. Thanks.
Good to see that you're motivated, but there's already a major roadblock to widespread ICS adoption on the Triumph because the camera won't work and the files needed to get it working aren't publicly available. You'll probably run into the same issues, making this project kinda dead in the water.
Good luck but the kitchen can only do so much. If you do use it, you will have to make manual edits to get things to work. But I don't think you can just port JB to our phones, especially with the kitchen. You will need to build from source, I am pretty sure. But don't let me stop you, just trying to give you a heads up. Try some things out and then ask some questions in the forums and somebody should be able to help you get on the right path.

I am going to try an experimental build on my friend's Triumph (I don't have one) and I'll post in this thread the results, and then I'll go from there.
I don't think that dsixda's kitchen works with the Motorola Triumph. I currently use it for the Galaxy S2 SGH-t989! But in the near future updates he may have add support for that device! And if you wanted to do Jelly Bean then you would have to get the android source code and build it from source! Building from source is much harder than building from port.
I really hope this helped and I wish you the best of luck with your development!
Hello maybe this is a stupid question but im new to posting alot here.
I am currently working on the Fierce 2 7040T and i would like to share my data with the community.
Alot of things i am learning and i hope that others will join in my testing.
So the thing is many of the post i have in mind will present the data I have obtained from the 7040T. Data that is helpful and necessary for building a custom recovery and rom ect.
The post will like i said give the data and my thoughts of it. But i also may be looking for some advice as well regarding the next step or to confirm if im on the right track.
So they will contain some questions too. Should i be posting this in general since there is no thread for the One Touch Fierce 2. Or in Development. Im just not sure where to go.
Basically im working with the stock backups of my rooted device and trying to build a recovery / Cyanogenmod rom.
Right now I dont think I have enough to build a fully functioning recovery or rom. There is no device tree for this device yet so i have to make the tree. Chances of me getting it right by myself is slim.
Anyway im going to work on the tree as much as possible.
Where should i post my work
