Switch to Sensation? - HTC Sensation

Hi!
I'm about to switch to a newer phone from my beloved (and dead) desire S. I was thinking about buying a Sensation (XE maybe?) instead of a One S (due to battery replaceable and sd card slot). What do you think?
So far i loved HTC and Sense (even if they're so slow in updating SO). I don't feel like moving to Samsung, should I?
I have no main use for the phone: I use it (obviously) for phoning, for games, I changed rom often on Desire S, watch videos (TV series too), listen to music, social networking, e-mails, and so on. Like it was a laptop!

I think you should go ahead for the one s the sensation is getting somewhat old..
I found sense on this phone a little bit slow/laggy however everything else is good except battery life and horrible speaker... And of course death grip.

Haha don't make the stupid mistake of buying a sensation mate. The sound is so bad on the phone, I've made a decision to never buy anything from HTC again. A Samsung phone will satisfy you.

More cons for Sensation:
The antennas are integrated into the back cover, which is removable. This translates into crappy signal in fringe areas.
Wifi deathgrip is very prominent when covering the top of the phone. Landscape browsing? Better learn to hold your phone with one hand or your fingertips.
I've learned to accept my Sensation's flaws, so I'll live with it until contract is up. But if I was buying something new right now, it definitely wouldn't be a Sensation. Probably jumping to the Samsung side next year.

Its funny how a few ppl are talking about he should get a Samsung. I wouldn't do it. All their phones feel so cheap and flimsy. There is one Samsung I will get and it the galaxy nexus and that's only cause it a nexus, it also helps Google is selling it unlocked for $350. If I was the op I would get that or an amaze. I love the sensation but I know there is alot better out. I know the amaze is only slightly better but for me it has more ram and faster hspa. The one s is very fast but the non removeable battery, amoled and no SD card really kills it for me

Gonna throw this out there right now, it's my reason for NOT getting a One S... My niece got one like three weeks ago... Spilled a TINY bit of water on it and since it has no removable battery, etc.. She dried it IMMEDIATELY, turned it off and placed it in a bag of rice... Worked okay, however, the internal memory was DESTROYED... It would corrupt the system all of the time and so forth, long story short... She ended up having to get it repaired. I will NEVER own a phone without a removable SD and battery now. (She was told by repair that it was damaged because even though she turned it off, since the battery couldn't be taken out there was still a current running through it.)

The "cheapy" feeling of Samung's smartphones is why I was looking for an HTC. I don't feel like spending that money for a plastic device.

I'm gonna tell you this right now, I've got a Sensation 4G and I'm using the XE back with one less antenna and I have had NO death grip issues. I'm not just saying that, I've had the best signal with this phone opposed to any of my others. (Maybe the others were REALLY crappy? Lol.)
Anyway, I just got a replacement Sensation sent out to me from T-Mobile. It'll get here Monday. They offered me the One S for free and I turned it down. (They said I could call back if the new Sensation doesn't work out.) However, I really feel the Sensation will be the phone that I stick with until HTC comes up with something new.

Ganesh, the sensation does have the death grip issue. I've had one for the last 1 year and can confirm that first hand. I just love the phone but a few niggles pointed out by users on this forum like the death grip, horrible battery life etc are very much existent.

The Sensation is a great phone fonpacific, as is the One S. They both have their flaws, all phones do. Personally, I think you'd be better off with the Sensation till HTC comes up with something better that has a removable battery and microsd.
That's the other thing about the One S... I forgot... It's advertised as 16gb but you only get like 7-8 usable for pics/vids/music. (My niece was SO upset about this.) I've got a 64gb card in my phone.

Should I jump from my Atrix to the Sensation??

Is the Sensation an upgrade?
So I do like my Atrix but I have the chance to do a straight trade for a Sensation.
I love Sense and would like a better camera.
Atrix does have 16gb vs the Sensation and its 8gb card, but I hardly have any space used up on mine. Its just photos and apps that are taking space pretty much - maybe 4 songs.
I dont use webtop. I like knowing the Atrix has the HDMI out and for the sensation - it has the option to do it but you need to buy the adapter cable. As much as I like the thought of that feature, I havent even used it yet lol.
I know the battery life on the Atrix is obviously better. I would buy a spare battery for the Sensation though and just keep it in my wallet just in case, like I used to do with my Motorola Milestone. The battery isnt very big.
Both have the same resolution and qhd.
The ROM support on the Atrix is lacking, and it looks very populated on the Sensation.
My girlfriend has the Desire which I have ROM'ed for her and its ROM support is very active and up to date for a phone of that age - I can expect the same for the Sensation?
Anything about the Atrix that is worth keeping over the Sensation?
Anything about the Sensation that should warrant the trade to it?
Thanks guys
Also I am Very worried abou the dust under screen issue I keep reading all over the internet about with this phone!
Right now the Sensation is pretty much brand new and hardly used, with no dust yet.
I wouldnt know how to prevent the dust from getting under there.
edit : Im in Canada, so the US provider war doesnt apply either lol
What is funny is that I was thinking of selling my Sensation and getting a Atrix... but my co-worker asked me if I was insane.
He then pointed me to level of ROM work being done for Sensation, HD, EVO, Inspire and said the development environment for this HTC lineup is far superior to the MOTO lineup.
However... i'd wait off buying an Atrix until google does what it wants with Motorola Mobile and see if Google can make a kick ass phone with great support.
Why were you thinking of going tot he Atrix?
Any more feedback?

I live in Canada and I made the exact same trade. I really enjoyed my Atrix but the bigger screen (and nicer screen) and better build quality of the Sensation was enough of a bonus to sacrifice the extra internal storage and extra ram of the Atrix. I never used the hdmi port on the Atrix and the lapdock got old very quickly. I have found battery life to be quite similar between the two devices, with a slight edge going to the Atrix. The dev community is much bigger for the Sensation and I like Sense infinitely better than Blur, which was another reason why I justified making the trade. I should mention that I managed to get some dust underneath the screen of my Sensation, but I work in a very dusty environment so it was my own stupid fault for using it. All in all, I'm happy with my decision. Hope this helps.
I think I may be leaning towards the trade now. I do feel bad about my phone case though, I got a kiwi Ringke casefor the atrix that I love but they don't have them for the sensation yet.
No. Get the Amaze. More RAM, Better Camera, more memory and better front facing camera and same candy bar build.

Jumping ship soon..

.. to join team HTC Sensation XE!
I'm going to exchange my Samsung Galaxy Nexus this week with o2 due to the HUGE palava going on with the volume/rf interference issues.
I had an HTC Desire previously, so I get the feeling the Sensation is pretty much it's big brother?
Are there any issues I should be looking for upon receipt of the XE? Or were things such as dust under the screen sorted out for the updated handset?
Is it worth rooting the XE? If yes, why? What are the benefits?
In hindsight I wish i'd just got the XE, it was my first choice but the samsung launch won me over. I feel dirty
There is a lot of issues mentioned here on forum, battery, dust, and so on and so on...
But none of this happened on my XE! and battery is bigger, so just give it a try
I rooted it in first day, just because stock rom drains battery faster, on custom rom I having 2+ day's without charging.
And I love my XE
I had desire before too, you'll love your sensation
had dust under screen within 3 weeks of usage , phone was in soft gel case with a screen protector. Id defintly advise to check screen i looked at 3 before purchase and there was a massive difference in 2 of the 3 like night and day
Good luck on your purchase i would have liked to keep this phone becouse i bagged a great deal on it but i just couldent be bothered swapping again so just canceled contract. Im back on my htc desire and couldent be happyier ill be waiting for the next round of phones before looking again
wouldnt do it.
galaxy nexus = awesome screen.
and my backcover-unibody has issues so my screen is not in the unibody correctly..
seems u cant open the phone a few times, bcause of the unibody..
hey mate
i dont have any issues with my htc sensation . I've got it as a free upgarde from 3uk and doesnt have a single defect. It appears though that some people they do have , allthough this didnt stop me from getting my sensations and honestly i love it! except the battery life .... but then again my htc desire didnt have better ....lol
For me get the htc sensation nice looking ,speedy lots of custom ROMs.excellent build quality.
Good Luck with your choice
To be honest, Samsung's response to the volume issue on the nexus hasn't filled me with confidence.
It IS a beautiful phone but just feels to thin, and it's not too comfortable for my girly hands to hold.
I got the Sensation XE from O2
Not a problem with dust etc and the screen is excellent . I may upgrade in March to the Nexus when all the issues have been resolved , if they ever do !
To be honest though , its dual core running at 1.5 Ok could have come with more user available RAM but I have no slow downs etc .
If you get the O2 version can you dump the ROM fist as I have made mine fully stock now and would need the O2 version of the ROM if I ever needed to take it back.
Yep I know I'm a Numpty for not backing up in the first place
The nexus fix is software related and in on the way according to the "androidauthority" site, that goes for the European nexus ,u can have a look on the article if u like .I can't post any links because I am n00b here

I have my Sensation for almost 2 months and no dust, no touchscreen issue, nothing. Just wifi deathgrip, which is not a dealbreaker and rarely the screenshot capture bug (also not a dealbreaker); but I wouldn't exchange a Galaxy Nexus for a Sensation (only if you really like Sense), I would wait for the volume bug to be solved.
Already exchanged it, prefer sense as i've come from an HTC Desire. I'm not one to get my nerd on about cutting edge tech specs etc. Much happier now (and that's what matters, right? )
ICS is gonna rock on this phone!

It looks promising and would get ics but I'm not too sure how the adreno 220 would work on a 720p display. I would not recommend the galaxy nexus cause as far as I have heard that ti processor uses the old galaxy s g.p.u Fail. Wait, does 02 have that?

Really? Loud clamor about this volume issue (which is all relative because only a small number of people have this issue anyways) only started to come up a few days ago, and Google has already said that they are working on a fix. They addressed the issue and announced they are working on it literally only a few days after angry Galaxy Nexus owners took to the internet. How much faster do you want? Of course we don't know how long the fix will take, but at least they've already acknowledged the issue, and I'm assuming the fix will come very quickly as they will want to have it spotless before it hits the U.S.
To be honest, HTC's response to serving Sensation owners half-baked Sense software, low volume problems, dust issues, and death grip problems hasn't filled me with confidence at all, because they never did respond at all.
At the time I wrote that, Samsung UK had up until that point not even issued a statement of acknowledgement and been deleting posts from their Facebook page! The phone should never have been allowed to be sold in the state it was.
The fix seems to be a software solution to a seemingly hardware problem (long thread on the G Nex forum..). Is this just going to be masking the problem?
I also had a fault with the phone powering off when it was plugged into usb charging and had reached 100%.
The Sensation XE was the phone I originally had my eye on, before the Nexus was even launched. I was won over, but when I actually had the handset, the faults and the physical dimensions and FEEL of the phone just weren't things I was prepared to work with. The XE is more comfortable for me to hold, I was actually getting aches in my hand from the Nexus. Probably because being female, my hands are smaller than that of an adult male.
I had 14 days from purchase of the phone to swap for another, no questions asked. I had to make the decision this week as I personally don't have time later in the 14 days to return it.
So there we go, I don't see why I have to justify my actions but oh well. I've made the right decision for me. The Galaxy Nexus is a bloody fantastic phone but I just didn't get along with it.
Honestly, what's the point of having an awesome phone if you're not 100% happy with it?

Yeah I wouldn't do it either. The Galaxy Nexus's volume issue will be solved soon - and it's a better phone on paper. Funny, I love the Sensation (XE/XL) but I'd still suggest the Nexus over it.
Edit: Read OPs post about hand cramps and whatnot, I read the first post and assumed it was only the volume woes, but I see it now. Definitely go Sensation.

Switched from Galaxy S II to Sensation

As the title states, I've switched from the Galaxy S II (T-Mobile variant) to the Sensation. While most people might say why would you do such a thing hear me out first. I was offered $200 cash and a mint condition Sensation with all accessories included for my GSII and I needed cash (Christmas to blame) .
I am honestly impressed with the Sensation. Browser scrolling is a million times faster and smoother than the GSII, the screen looks gorgeous on the Sensation (no pixelation at all thanks to QHD). The only thing I miss with the GSII is the gorgeous video/picture quality and louder speaker. Surprisingly I've noticed that my data connection is even better.
I also love that the dev community is larger over here.
EDIT: I've owned a Sensation 4g when it first came out and had nothing but hell with it. This Sensation doesn't overheat, doesn't have signal issues or screen issues like the one I had way back. I love this phone.

Interesting to get a proper comparison between the two from somebody will actual experience (instead of the 'my dad could bash your dad' type comments we usually see).
I looked at the GSII before getting my sensation and generally didn't like the feel of it in my hand. That might sound like a lame reason but in reality there isn't much difference in the hardware, and software / firmware is pretty much irrelevant once you root it
I've been playing around with my mother in laws Tmobile SGII, and there are definitely pros and cons to both.
I love the screen size of the Samsung. It's damn near perfect in that regard. And let's not even talk about the black level and colors. They both outclass the sensation. But the resolution jump is definitely noticeable on the sensation. I'd love the Samsung screen with higher resolution.
As far as speed and smoothness goes, sometimes the Samsung is kinda choppy and slow. The sensation seems a bit zippier to me sometimes. Both stock.
But, if given the chance to trade for a Samsung.......I'm not so sure I wouldn't.

The Sensation and the Galaxy S2 came out around the same time to go against each other and both are really good phones. Sucks that we had to wait until 2 months ago for the S2 to come to the states, if not then I would have probably gotten the S2. But then again I've always been an HTC person and love the build quality on their phones. But one thing, I've been following the Sensation since the pyramid rumors and really couldn't give up.

I honestly don't mind Samsung's plastic build. Its not that bad in my opinion. It surprisingly is sturdy. The battery cover is the only piece IMO that feels cheap. Especially when peeling it off.

Haha well, the Snapdragon SGS2 we get in the states isn't nearly the same as the Exynos version of Europe. Either way, good to hear I'm not missing out on much with the TMOUS SGS2.
Interesting how you said data is better on the Sensation. How about cellular signal? Do you notice a drop with the Sensation's stupid battery cover antenna?

The GSII outshines this phone in just about every department spec wise. Larger battery (1850 mah with NFC chip), 2mp front cam, louder speaker, etc. Also maybe its just me but the screen on this phone doesn't feel as sensitive as my GSII did when texting on the keyboard.
I AM NOT BASHING THIS PHONE IN NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM!
On another note, I do love how optimized the software is. TouchWiz was a little choppy and laggy for me. Sense 3.0 feels so smooth. I also love having a led flash even though there's alternative apps that can serve as a notification for the GSII. I am even more than grateful for our dev community (even though my phone isn't rooted yet). I think the screen size on the Sensation is just right. The GSII's screen was a little too. Wide and long for my fingers. The phone would often hurt my fingers trying to pull down the notification bar for example. Users with larger hands would love the GSII's screen real estate. I love both phones equally.

Oh and welcome back. And Merry Christmas.

I do notice that the Sensation has the dead grip issue, which most phones have. With GSII I didn't really notice the issue at all. The Sensation seems to be loading web pages significantly faster than the GSII. I don't believe all the hype about 42mbps (GSII) vs 21mbps (Sensation) although the GSII was no slouch when it came to browsing the net in well covered areas.
EDIT: Merry Christmas to you too.

The GSII outshines this phone in just about every department spec wise. Larger battery (1850 mah with NFC chip), 2mp front cam, louder speaker, etc. Also maybe its just me but the screen on this phone doesn't feel as sensitive as my GSII did when texting on the keyboard.

Am I the only one who thinks that the Sensation's screen is too tall? Keeping your hand in a position to reach the capacitive buttons and the status bar is damn near impossible. 4" screen would've made this phone golden IMO.

I do admit that a 4 inch screen as Arron (from Phonedog) would say "is the sweet spot". My old Vibrant and Nexus S made me realize this quickly. The benefit of that extra .3 inch is more screen for viewing, but I honestly wouldn't mind buying a super phone with a 4 inch screen.

I was choosing either the GS2 or Sensation. I went with Sensation and I regret it so much.
Don't make my mistake.
When they first came out everyone was talking about them. Now its only GS2 and Nexus talk. Sensation isnt even relevant anymore

The GSII is relevant commercial wise. Check out the dev community and see which device is more relevant. We have a couple different ICS roms working already. The GSII has none. We have more devs and that's not just because this phone was released earlier, I believe timing played apart of it. This phone was released around the time of the G2x and a lot of people didn't want to take a chance with LG so they chose this phone instead.
EDIT: That's like saying the HD2 or G1 isn't relevant anymore when those 2 phones have one of the largest dev community. Just cause you don't see commercials doesn't mean it isn't relevant.

Interesting. It seems you have gotten a almost new sensation. Not to be mean, but the problem's with the sensation first comes after a while, mine sensation was the best in the first few weeks, but after that it just went down.
Also I disagree on that the sensation got a better screen. The SG2 does have the best screen available.
But you did for Christmas so it wasn't that bad
The only problem I have with my HTC Sensation is power button which is fixed in ICS and of course the power use issues which take a lot of tweaking even with a bigger battery.

I'm sorry but, wut?
800x480 on a 4.52" screen... awesome... not!
newer android phones like the Galaxy Nexus has the best screen out.
I'd take the qHD screen over the one on the SGS2 any day of the week.
I've had my Senny since launch and have yet to have any problems.
not sure what kind of problems you had with your Senny but perhaps you got a defective unit.
I think the 4.3"(with 16.9 aspect ratio) screen is perfect.
Not sure how I'd feel with the bigger screens coming out now but that seems to be the way it's going so...

I love the GSII but you're right about the screen not being superior to the Sensation as far as resolution. When it comes to colors and use in the sun the GSII almost has no glare at all. The blacks are actually black! Both phones are great. Its just a matter of preference. The whites on the Sensation are actually white versus the GSII blueish white hue.

My other half has a S2 and at times im jealous that it feels so smooth and kicks my phones ass at almost every benchmark. I have to enable both cores and use a different kernel to keep up. to her stock phone. Samsung do make some quick internal specs. Shame it looks like a childs play thing
Still my XE is still the better phone for its better looks and awesome user experience.

As a user that has had both. I took the MT4G over the Sensation. There is no need for that much power in a phone right now plus the battery life on those things is TERRIBLE. However from a money standpoint, I would straight trade the MT4G for a Sensation any day lol.
Totally worth it in my eyes. This is more than enough phone for me so I won't be upgrading anytime soon. The dev community is really strong too. Already put virtuous quattro on it and it's amazing. Tried out some of the sense ics roms but I like vanilla ics best.

I've been thinking of getting a Sensation myself for the last couple of days after my bad eMMC MT4G ate it, but the more I look at my options, the more I'm leaning towards getting another MT4G provided that I get one with the good eMMC and screen.
The Sensation's primary issue is signal strength. It annoys me that I have to limit my options for which case to buy so that it doesn't have a role in degrading the signal. Also, I prefer using Wi-Fi over 4G because I'm on a simple data plan, and it's unacceptable to me for the Wi-Fi antenna at the top to be extremely susceptible to a death grip that I have to hold the phone a certain way in landscape mode, and likewise I can't hold the phone by its bottom unless if I also want to degrade the mobile signal as well. I can hold the MT4G with two fingers using the TPU Fusion case, but I don't do it. Why would I do that with the Sensation, with or without a case? If I can give Apple crap for their iPhone 4 inconveniences, I will do the same to HTC. It's not acceptable.
To me, my phone still needs to primarily be a phone, then a mobile Internet device and GPS, then a PDA, and lastly, a time-waster. As great of a device as the Sensation was spec-wise for 2011, it comes up short in too many practical categories. The signal strength, battery life, and speaker volume (for which there is a fix) are all worse than the MT4G. Even though I would like the larger, higher resolution screen and dual-core processor, I don't make use of those things enough for them to matter.
That said, I still hate the idea of playing panel and eMMC lottery to get a good MT4G. If the Sensation didn't have its issues, I may have gotten one the first time around, because I really like the phone otherwise.
Of course, when it comes to trading the two phones, that's a no-brainer because you're basically making $50-100.

Weird, I've not had a single issue with signal of any kind no matter how I hold it. Use my wifi at home at all times and haven't had any issues with my 4G either. Also I get great battery life on ics, just as good as I did with my mt4g. Speaker volume also not an issue. Have you had one of these? Cause I have absolutely zero doubts about making the switch and would never go back.

I haven't. Those are all the complaints I've read in the xda Sensation forums. What it boils down to for me is whether I want to spend the extra $80-100 for hardware that I know I won't put to maximal use and a new set of problems. It may not be every handset, just like not every MT4G has a bad screen, bad eMMC, squeaky buttons, or whatever else. However, the Sensation does have its share of problems and the ones that it has are potential deal breakers to me, regardless of what another user's tolerance, threshold, or experience is.
I haven't ruled out the Sensation yet, but it's hard for me to pull the trigger on either a second MT4G or a Sensation knowing that both of them have the potential to be a bigger pain in the ass than any phone I've owned before the last MT4G. What's frustrating is that those are my only candidates at this point because nothing else appeals to me nor is in my budget. I've only started to take a liking to some Samsung and Motorola smartphones based on their late-2011 models, but those are way out of my budget and I know I'd want to switch to AOSP immediately with those phones.
You know, if I had to replace my MT4G, I'd just go for a Galaxy S. They're easy to root and there's a decent amount of support. And everything works on ICS. I'm just not a fan of the build quality. I'd be using my Galaxy S if it wasn't for the fact that it feels cheap and plasticy. My MT4G is like a lump of steel by comparison (which is good).

word to that brother! I hate the build quality of the Galaxy S, however the build quality on the mytouch 4g is awesome!
I recently traded a HD2 and for a Mytouch 4g and I was lucky enough to get one with a good eMMc chip and display
Haha. Yeah. I tend to keep my older phones, and when I was gifted the Galaxy S, I switched back to my MT4G. In fact, build quality was what kept me with Blackberry for so long. After I was given my MT3G Slide, I got hooked onto android because of flash support. That and I could easily play SNES emulators.
It's a shame to see people move away from the phone. Especially with the recent news that perhaps we could start getting full functionality from ICS because of the other similar phone's official ICS upgrade.

I think I've decided to save my money and get another MT4G for now while keeping my eye on the Amaze or whatever else might become a good modder phone when it's truly time for me to upgrade.
I know some people here like to upgrade phones like they're leasing BMWs, but my phone is not a status symbol. I'll just take a solid, good-looking form factor with sufficiently powerful hardware for my needs, because once I'm done rooting and flashing a new ROM, I don't mess with it again.
I've got a Sensation and MT4G, and I switch back and forth in use. Spec wise the Sensation may seem a lot better on paper, but here's my perspective in comparing the 2 in real life.
Sensation pluses:
* Screen size & resolution
* 8 MB Camera and 1080p Camcorder
* More active development, so quicker path to ICS
Sensation minues:
* Antennas built into the rear cover - arguably a defective design; harder to do a simple battery pull; not nearly as solid as the MT4G design with its metal battery cover; and generally the MT4G seems to get better reception too.
For most other items, like battery life, speed of use with or without Sense, lack of lag, built in memory, 4g speeds, browsing, etc., the devices are very similar if not about the same. Dual core in the Sensation is nice, but on both of my devices I only OC to about 1.2 ghz and they both (with the right GB rom) have the same smoothness and similar benchmarks. Sensation is just like a slightly newer brother to the MT4G IMO.

[POLL] Do You Still Love Your Sensation?

Hey guys I am new on Sensation forum (not on xda, you can see my thanks meter and total post ) and will get my brand new sensation next week.
Do you still love your sensation?
I come from Xperia Neo and want more powerful phone than Neo and i think i got this phone since I dont have much money for one X or Galaxy nexus which is preferrable for me.
Edit: I have my sensation now, use it for one month and love it, so sad some devs moved on but another devs come, now this thread specifically for anyone who want to complain or express how you love your sensation.
I still like but can't say that I love it. After trying out the One X the rose coloured googles have come off. I still much prefer the Sensation for its design (sd card, removable battery, curved screen) but the performance and screen on the One X blows me away.
I like the sensation better than the galaxy s ii. The number of ROMs, the current ICS support, the HTC one S ROMs, (Why get one? ) the overclockability to 1.9GHz, the built in beats audio support, the removable battery and the fact that the housing comes off in one fell swoop(if you phone gets dropped and gets dents, replace it quickly, cheaply, and easily), the ability to multi-boot, and the fact that it's HTC. Doesn't get better than that!

I still love my HTC sensation XE i mean, look at it.. It looks great. What's even better is the support the XDA sensation community gives. The camera's great, its a great phone for gaming, the pixels are just awesome (movies and reading ebooks)
As for the battery life, i get about 21-25 hours a day. But it depends on what custom ROM you use too. Might i suggest you use ARHD ROM as well as Faux Kernel. And also, if you are willing to spend US$30 on an extended 1900Mah Anker battery, go for it.. the battery really helps alot, i have seen some people going over 40 hours on a single charge.
Whatever it is, if you're worried people here stop the support for the sensation, don't be. Its a great phone and once again the community is superb
How did you reach 1.9Ghz???

I sold it and have regretted doing so ever since. Have the SGII right now, but the lack of developer support, ICS, and TouchWiz make me wish I woulda ditched the Samsung instead.
That's exactly why I didn't get the SG 2. It's funny you put up this post. I thought I lost my phone yesterday and was looking at replacements. The galaxy Note is nice with the stylus pen and HUGE screen. But Touch wiz is garbage so nope. Then the just release the One X on Rogers(Canada) and looks wicked with ICS and Sense 4.0, but only 12 GB of usable storage!!! NO SD card slot!!! I ordered a 64 GB card last week cause my 32 GB card is full. Again Nope. Found my phone yesterday...So yes I LOVE MY SENSATION.

Tried my friend's SGII and its fast and never had any lag. But TW is crap like hell, and too much mod stock rom on rom development.
But idk about browsing speed, we luck if we had over 3Mbps here, never had more with any phone.

how come it's cheaper than the Gnexus? I will be getting the Sensation soon and its available online for about 430-450$ + 30-40$ for shipping! When the Gnexus is available for 399$ + 20$ for shipping or so! from where are you going to get your Sensation and for how much?
Sensation sees some strange pricing. When I was originally looking at phones, I was told to wait for a used mint Sensation at the $200 price mark. I did see a few, and missed out on the one or two that were legitimately mint. Found a few that were beat out or otherwise extremely shady (suspect IMEI would be blacklisted not long after the sale, etc). Ended up "desperate" for one and ponied up $250 for it. A shame since the MT4GS is just about identical, except for the small screen and physical keyboard (and assured hspa+21 and supposedly better camera).
In the NYC area, I see like-new ones go for $250-300 all day long, and new ones around $300. I know TMO charges $550 for it BNIB, which is absolutely absurd, given the GNex's $400 unlocked/unbranded price. Even at $300, the Sensation is a bit hard to swallow, since there's "better" phones for not too much more (sg2's and Amazes sell in the $350 ballpark), although those are used.
On the shady shade of things, if you got in contact with someone in the states who was unfortunate enough to get their hands on a blacklisted unit, you might be able to score it for cheap :x
It's absolutely brilliant what HTC did with the battery cover in terms of being able to replace it and get an almost new phone. The only problem is that there's a small bit of trim on the bottom that's not part of the cover. I've got a new cover coming for mine, but that bit is a little mangled.
All in all, coming from a Motorola Triumph, this is the best phone I have ever had the pleasure of owning. Just running it on the "modest" ARHD at the moment, and it's more than thrilling enough. Can't wait for CM9 to hit maturation though. Hopefully by the time Sense love wears off on me and I'm ready to go back to AOSP style.
I do wonder for those on TMO's post paid, if you were to get a used phone, would you still have the remainder of warranty through TMO? I understand they are willing to swap up a G2X to the Sensation for those having severe issues. Would be marvelous, given that the G2X fetches as low as $150 used in my market. Of course, then you're losing out with the expensive postpaid contract anyway (unless they still do EM+ plans).
For $430+shipping, the Sensation is absolutely not worth it, and really, it'd be a no brainer to get the GNex! Especially if the Sensation really is a 14.4 device and not 21.

I know, i was talking about the original sensation! all online sellers sell them from 430$ to 600$!!
Did you get it locally or online? its being sold for 600$ here in Egypt with 1 year warranty which is a ridiculous price, anyone knows a good/trusted place to get mine?
And if the XE is being sold for 430$ hell am going to get it lol

This phone from the out side perspective looks slow but when you set it up to your liking with custom roms and kernels this phone rocks. If you keep it stock its slow so don't.

How is it slow?
I found the Galaxy S II laggy compared to my Sensation XE and I have not rooted it, running completely stock.
Got rid of the SII because of TW
