Hi!
i've got a stock XE (not root, no custom recovery, no CFW) with android 4.0.3 and the phone reboots everytime i go back to home with the home button ;(
any suggestions?
thanks
This is some common steps to see if you can fix it.
First if you have a lot of text messages delete them.
Second if you have a lot of calls in your call history delete your call history.
Third download App Cache Cleaner from the Play Store and use it to delete all the app cache on your device.
The above steps are to free up space on your device to gain resources. You can also uninstall any apps that you just do not use are need to free up space. Without having the proper amount of resources available on a device it can start to perform oddly.
Give the device some time after doing these steps to see if they elimanate the problem. If they do not thengo to System/Privacy and make sure you have a check beside "Backup my settings" and the go to Settings/Storage and scroll to the bottom and select "Factory data reset" bit make sure you remember your gmail account and password cause you will need it to re sync your contacts and settings after the reset.

I just thought I would put this out there for anyone who might be experiencing the same problem I was on my Captivate.
After many flashes, restores with Titanium Backup, updates, etc, I found myself unable to send email from the Gmail app. I could read email and download attachments just fine, but whenever I hit the send button, they just hung there. Reboots did nothing... in fact I didn't really notice it until I went to the "view labels" and noticed that there were a ton of messages in my Outbox.
Anyway, there is a quick fix for this:
- Go to: Settings > Applications > Manage Applications
- Then open Menu and select Filter
- Choose "All" (which means Show All, not Filter All)
- Now, find the Gmail app and select it.
- Click the "Clear Cache" button.
After doing this, everything in my Outbox finally sent and everything was right and good in the world again.
hope this helps...

Were you looking at the Gmail app or the Gmail data?
Gmail data will be greyed out, because the whole thing is cache.
The Gmail app will become greyed out once the cache has been cleared.
RC 1 has been pulled due to final being around corner.

Come on...it's right under Progess
"Back to SDK Dialer. Old one was causing problems and did not keep call log."
So far install and settings are all flawless as far as I can tell. Quality job!
Sound > Volume bug is fixed
Lock Timer bug is fixed
Lock button background on both password and pin is fixed
The virtual keyboard still doesnt vibrate when vibrate is checked.
Also noticed a lot of the options that were in Call Settings are now no longer there.
I'm guessing this is due to the dialer being changed out?
Other than that, so far so good!
Is it necessary to wipe data & cache, then factory reset again even if already on fission?
Would just rather not....
Keep up the good work boys!
Also you might want to re-mention about not using themes.
my gps will not work. Weather and toggle widgets, weatherbug elite , and others will not find me. Tried a reboot didn't work. Came from the beta just flashed this this morning. Followed all directions wiped twice and the factory reset anyone else having this issue or do I need to reflash.
Ps I noticed swype works in this build great work guys
Check the gps toggle again. I've had gps work with three different apps.

GPS is working fine. It's coarse location (wireless networks) that's not working for me. If I turn off GPS, I can't get a location.
To do step 15 (Perform a Factory Reset through Android - Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset. Wiping Cache and Data from recovery is not enough.)
Am I suppose to reboot the system prior to this step?

It isn't possible unless you boot first, is what I figured.
"Do not perform any type of restore using any backup programs, yes this includes Titanium Pro and others!"
So this essentially renders Titanium Pro useless then? I can't restore any apps at any time from my sd card?
I followed every step precisely, including the backup and all of the cache/data clearing and android factory reset, and so far none of my market downloads have initiated. I'll get back to you on it if they do.
Not trying to *****, but I can't really give much feedback until I can see how well everything runs with my setup.

By default you'll be in USB mass storage mode if plugged in. If this is the case the market won't download. (Found this out the hard way.)
Fixed it by going to Charge-Only.
Id say u can backup/restore any market/downloaded non-system apps with titanium. Just don't restore items such as calender/email/sms/settings etc. most of these things are backed up and restored to your google account anyhow.
It would seem contact ringtones do not work
The market download on fresh boot takes awhile.. anywhere from 15min+ you can speed the process up by manual cancels and manual downloads.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App

Go to settings-applications-all applications-picasa
Clear out the cache and defaults. Wait about 2 mins then open up the gallery. This may take some time because you just cleared your cache.
Hi there, thank you for the reply. I've followed your instructions but its saying cache is 0.00b and does not allow me to clear cache (the icon is not lit) and also the "clear defaults" icon is not lit the only options i'm given on that page are "clear data or move to sd card"

You can clear the data as well if that is lit and you are able to clear it. It just 'resets' the app. So bottom line it's ok to clear the data if you can. And if that doesn't work you can just factory reset the phone. But I don't think it's worth doing unless you can restore your apps and settings from a backup. And if you decide you do not want to do a factory reset (I don't blame you if you do not lol), then try alternative apps like gallery3d and picasa tool which are normally found in the market. Not sure if they show up on the non-us market, but you can search for the apk's here.
I think i'm just gona except the new phone the shop are offering me!! at least if i see the problem again on the new phone i'll have a fix but i just think my phone is a bit buggy....few other issues with screen non response too. thanks again for your help.
I think I may have set it up wrong like restore or something. But everytime I exited the play store it starts downloading EVERYTHING from the playstore that I've ever downloaded.
How can I stop this from happening?
Open the playstore, slide from the left edge of the screen, my apps, click stop.
Sent using xda-developers app
This is just a guess, check Settings -> Backup & Restore and disable "automatic restore".
Also, when you first set up the phone, there is an option that asks if you would like to keep the phone backed up with google, which, if selected, also restores the phone from any back up google may previously hold.
Un check it, and it wont start downloading any apps when you first turn it on
definitely one of the irritating things about android. that backup/restore functionality sucks. I think i read they were going to revamp it?
Seems dumb that an app that is installed on another device or long removed from current device would install on a new device.
There's an easy fix for this. Go to the play store, swipe the left of the screen, click "My Apps", click the "All" tab. Any app in that list that isn't installed on your phone already will have an "X" in it's box. Click it and it'll ask if you want to remove the app for your apps list. That will stop it from auto downloading when you restore anything, as long as you don't download it again. Otherwise, you'd have to remove it again.
I usually leave my J7 (2015 updated to 7.1.1) in the Maximum Power Saving mode, which would stop apps like VoiceMail app from running if you hit the voice mail icon at the bottom left of the phone pad screen, allowing it to auto-dial your number and immediately access your vm messages; would stop it from trying to update to superfluous newer versions that added junk I didn't want any time it was tripped into running w/power saving off, or the extremely annoying bug where it kept pushing messages in the drop down that there were "new messages" since sometime last year despite having ZERO messages saved or otherwise, and would completely fail to notify of NEW messages. TBH, this garbage was part of the final straw that forced me to root the phone.
Try this at your own risk.
1. Anyhow, once rooted, use Titanium Backup and open.
2. Go to Menu in upper right -> Overview of App Storage. CAREFULLY Find the Voicemail app and DOUBLE-CHECK IT'S CORRECTLY SELECTED (select wrong process and up a creek; back-up the app to be safe). I cleared it then deleted, dunno if it matters.
3. Shut phone off.
4. Boot into twrp recovery (or whatever you have that can clear cache and dalvik cache- assuming one or the other, I did both; someone correct if wrong); If you have twrp recovery, dalvik cache clearing is free and doesn't require another app to do it. Titanium Backup requires the pay service version of it to work via it's internal option.
5. Go to the wipe option and select dalvik cache and cache (again, I did both, dunno if dalvik was only one needed) ONLY.
6. Boot phone back up (turn power saving off) and go to the phone screen.
7. Now, hit your "voice mail" icon in the lower left corner. Congrats! It should now immediately dial your number and go straight to the voice mail menu asking for password if you have one w/o errors and w/o the missing garbage voice mail app interjecting nonsense into the affair. Should now behave exactly like older phones or current phone with the Power Saving Mode turned on.
P.S. To all you programming whizzes that make the software for these things, I tip my hat.
