Is there an app that locks the screen and buttons but keeps the screen on? - Android Apps and Games

My son loves watching cartoon on YouTube on my phone, but he's only 19 months old and always exits YouTube accidentally.
Is there an app where I can lock the screen and all the buttons without the screen turning off?

Thanks. Could you please send me a PM if you find it

I might suggest kid mode. It has a preset selection of games and videos as well as painting and reading. It has a child lock feature, and it emails weekly updates on what my son has done and copies of his drawings. You can also authorize the apps on your phone to be used during it too, so if there is a certain game that he enjoys, it will be on his list. My son loves monkey preschool lunch box, but he's 3.

Force apps to use current screen orientation?

Hi everyone,
I just got the Asus case and have a problem when I use the tablet in a upside down orientation.
The way the case is designed, when I want to use it on a table, the tablet is upside down. That's fine for the home screen, or browsing, or for most apps, but I find that some apps do not recognize the current screen orientation, like Angry Birds.
Are there any 3rd party apps that can force another application to open on a certain orientation, like 90 degrees, or 180 degrees, etc..?
Here's my problem trying to play Angry Birds with the case in the upside down configuration.
you could force it upside down before you set the case up and do screen lock
I've noticed the same thing, don't have the case but from holding the device upside down. I think the devs for the apps that do that have the apps programmed to be forced in upright landscape position. I recommend you shoot each dev an email whenever you run into the issue. Their emails can be found in the app description in market.
I've emailed many devs for many different reason and all have been more than happy to help. One example was the quickpic dev about the app not seeing the extended microsd card slot in the transformer since the tf mounts it as /removable/microsd. He had it fixed in a couple hours and market update within 12.

I tried it with a rotate lock widget, but eventhough the screen is locked, when I launch Angry Birds, it still changed back rightside up. Thanks for the suggestion though, it was worth a try!

Galaxy on Fire 2... now available FREE

FINALLY
https://market.android.com/details?id=net.fishlabs.GalaxyonFire2THD
Free to download.. only offers 1 solar system. You can buy the rest in app for 14.99.
one more time. FINALLY
Downloading!
so far.. the only problem I found is in the settings menu it looks like the graphics options are formated for a larger screen.. just that last quality slider which is at full by default.. and doesn't seem to slow down the g2x at all...
ARESOME
pretty cool game tho, nice graphics
Just finished my install. Got to the title screen and my phone completely froze up. I launched the game again after a battery pull and got into the menus. Brightness and graphic settings go off-screen. Has anybody else noticed the big black square at the start of the campaign? Looks like a bug or driver issue.
Sent from my G2x using XDA App
When I launch the game it freezes for a second or two but the music still plays. does it resume soon after for you? I just started a new campaign to check on the black box but didn't see anything. if you're on the stock rom, the screen shot still works. can you grab a shot of it?
EDIT: May i just say... this game is BEAUTIFUL!!!
How come charging to my tmobile bill isnt an option in in-app billing? I want to buy it but usually i just put it on my monthly bill.
Sent from my G2X
Beautiful game. Anyone able to change the brightness?
With it being in app billing I wonder if i would have to buy it on both my Xoom and G2X. Would be kinda a ****ty thing for them to do but why else do the in app bill and not a market purchase.

You can change the brightness using the in-game slider? I can move the slider around but the brightness does not change for me, strange.

OK --=SPOILER=--
By story you try to help the ferderation to convoy the transporter ship. they attack you by mistake cuz they thought you where a pirate. then you will be on a space station and some dude out of your past tells you bunch of stuff about the past. so you try to leave the station and it tells you to buy the full version, you can as well go onto the map and see all the solar systems but if you try to access any one of them..... $$$$$
Ohhh reason why no T mobile billing = German company declined the mobile accout billing cuz the have to wait for the payment to clear for 3 days while a credit card goes thru right away.
DL'ed it but not really feeling it. I uninstalled it but am wondering where the initial download data(530mb) is stored so I can delete that as well. Unless it gets deleted when the app is uninstalled. Thanks in advanced..

[APP][UPDATE 8/31/13] KeepScreen v4.0 keep your device awake per active app

***DELETE***
This app is now outdated. I am going to re-write it completely from scratch. I will obviously include the standard features, but is there anything else you users would like me to add?
Very Cool ..
Thanks for the update
Cool, thanx for updating this little gem!
I used it but it wasn´t working more for me with ICS 4.0.3, so i switched to another app, but always liked the option to have the screen go a bit darker and not stay with full brightness.
Havent looked at your improved app but could you make the constant notification tick/untickable? I never experienced that the app stopped working, so i wouldn´t need this and i hate to have any icons in the notification bar
The autostart option is VERY nice to have! :good:
EDIT:
Just installed and saw there is already an option for the notification icon, great!
Working very nice so far, will monitor it and give you some feedback during the next days.
Thanx again, really nice to see this app is liked by other people as well.
Just wanted to say thanks for sharing that app....

This sounds like a great app that could be well used on certain apps that you want the screen to stay on, well done to both developers, now I am wondering as a noob and still on a learning curve, will this app work on a Galaxy GT-S5830i rooted device and what would be the best way to install.
It would be great to get some advice on this. :good:

Yes this should work on any device rooted or not!
To install just download and use a file browser to tap on the downloaded file.

First and foremost i want to give ALL CREDIT to the original developer of this amazing app. KeepScreen is developed by AxDroid LLC and hosted for free on the play store.
It has been forever since they last updated it and they were not responding to my emails. Their website also returns with an error so i am not sure if the company is no longer in business or if they just abandoned the app. (Its ashame honestly i love this app)
But there were a few quirks with the app. For instance, the app had to be manually started every single time you rebooted your phone.
Secondly i read people experienced the app would just stop working.. (I havent experienced this at all yet) But im guessing its due to android cleaning things up to free RAM.
Well i took it on myself and i was able to fix the first issue. After first launching the app and selecting the applications you wish to always have the screen stay on, and then launching the service, after a reboot the app will start again and you dont have to manually start the service.
The second issue i am currently trying to solve by placing a constant notification in the status bar. That is the only way to keep android from cleaning and killing processes.
The app is truly amazing, i have the Galaxy S3 and it has that "Smart stay" thinger where if you are looking at the screen the phone will stay on, well when im watching TV and i look up from my phone for a single second, they screen shuts off. I hate that, so i actually just use KeepScreen, set what apps i wish to always stay on, and then they stay on so long as that app is open and displayed on the screen.
Just download and install using a file browser.

Yesss this is what I have been looking for so long and I am supper excited to get this on my note that I am getting back tomorrow
It work on my Neo V. TNX
Just two points for me:
Adding a widget to enable and disable the service and it would be fantastic.
Stopping the service when the screen is turned off (or alternative) because I saw my screen turn back alone (synchronization of a monitored application?)
Thank you for your work.
will try it , i was waiting for this kind of application , thanks

It has a listener receiver for screen off. Sometimes if you have an app open that you set to stay on all the time, and you manually shut it off, it turns back on. That's just because the service didn't shut down fast enough.
And I don't have source code. I doubt I could add a widget.
However I could write my own app that force close the service. (Almost like a task killer) but it won't be able to start the service.

I really loved this app when it first came out, but it fell by the wayside for various reasons.
Thanks for picking up the slack here! You'd think this is something they could actually build into android at some point. Apps that when on-screen don't let the phone blank the screen.
Tried it and it works great! =)

Ok Thanks for the reply.
I like this apps, it keeps my google map always on. However I need to manually start the apps on each power up. Any way to have an option to auto start? Second nice to have feature is to sort these apps selected at the top.

Running beans 9 ROM, WTF IS THIS BUBBLE???

I've provided pics but this mysterious buuble keeps appearing at random, at the bottom of the screen yo. its some sort of pull up app drawer. I can't figure out how it keeps popping up or how to tremove it hahaha not trying to be funny anymore! its annoying. gets In the way of the keyboard and whatnot.
this must be a feature of beans ROM, I'm thinking. I dunno tho, a Google search came up with nothing.

Bingo! Tap that bubble and move an app to either the top or bottom of the screen and use two apps at once.

It can be moved around too. It doesn't have to stay on the bottom.

hold back to get rid of it.
it's multiwindows ported from the note2, I find it completely useless and hate it as I use longpress back to kill apps, I can use menu button instead, but i will NEVER use the "feature" on this phone.
it sucks that rom devs are including it in ROMs, I'd much rather not see it at all or just have it as an add-on instead of forcing it on us.
I honestly never feel the need to have 2 apps open taking up half the screen each, I can just do one at a time, but I can see how it could be nice on the note II with the s-pen.
I did order a bunch of cheapy pens that work on the phone its pretty cool, but the multiwindow feature, garbage.

Looking for an app to disable touchscreen

My daughter loves to watch YouTube videos but she's only 20 months old and doesn't understand the fact that if she touches the screen the video will stop. She also will reorganize my home screen and erase my contacts. Is there an app that will allow me to disable the touchscreen through use of the camera or volume buttons? I really want to let her hold onto my phone without having to figure out what she has messed with and all that jazz.
