I have the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. It plays music fine, but when I plug in PC speakers into the headphone jack sometimes it pauses the music. If I try to resume play, it crackles and then instantly pauses again. Sometimes if I press the 5.1Ch button, it works but only plays from 1 speaker.
Why is this?
I should mention the speakers work perfectly fine on a PC.

must be a slight difference in the 3.5mm jack
Does it tend to happen when your screen times out, and are you having the same issues with headphones or is it just these specific speakers? If it happens with any device plugged in than the music player you are using might be causing conflicts with your lock screen settings.

I bought some JVC headphones that are high quality and the sound is really clear after a while i notice when i plug them in my Sensation the sound is terrible it sounds like a pair of 5 dollar headphones with no bass, it was working fine what gives?
Wait... So you were using the headphones in Sensation fine for some time, but then this suddenly happened? Try them in another device to see if it's a problem with headphones. You can also turn on SRS/Equalizer in Music settings.
Did the sound get worse after answering a call and going back to the music app? Does the problem get fixed when you reboot the phone? If so, disconnect the headphone, play music through the speaker and connect the headphone back while the music is playing. It should get fixed. If you have a headset, while listening to music, you can press the main button twice (as to redial a call) and then immediately cancel the call. It should give you back the good sound.
So I ordered the GoGroove Bluegate Bluetooth Receiver from Amazon the other day and my package was delivered today! Woohoo!
I got everything set up in my room and was very impressed. I'm no audiophile, but I noticed no difference in quality between the Headphone jack and BT audio.
So out to my truck I went, got it all wired up the way I like, and started playing some tunes.
On Batakang 1.00 and using DoubleTwist, the volume was WAY TOO LOUD. It was also pretty distorted. So I made sure the stereo, BT volume, and media volume were all at the lowest settings to no avail. Still incredibly loud.
Is this phone just loud as hell? I know the external speaker is louder than most other phones. Is it software or hardware? Is there any way I can force the volume down? (Side note, I miss the expandable volume controls after pressing the rocker in CM9/CM10)
Any help is appreciated!
Use Audio Concert Pro from the play store and it should give you everything you need.
Cheers

It sounds like something in your setup is causing it to bypass the volume settings and just play at max volume. I use my phone all the time for bluetooth audio on 2 blackberry bluetooth gateways (home stereo and office stereo) and a sony bluetooth audio car stereo and I am able to control the volume just fine from both the phone and the stereos.

I think I figured it out. I installed "music volume EQ" from Play and I adjusted all bands to -15 db. This surprisingly made all volumes much more acceptable. I noticed media volume over 8 used to sound the same, like it was maxed out, but it seems much more granular now, and lower volumes are more "normal".
I suggest this fix for anyone who is unhappy with any volumes.

I know this topic is way old, but I know what the problem is. I unlocked and flashed cm10.1, and while the bluetooth takes a few seconds to lock on, it now is at a reasonable volume, the BT volume slider changes volume, and it never jumps to 100% after connection. The Motorola BT drivers must be wonky. Anyway, that's it! Moto screwed up.

Anyone else having issues with their headphone jack regularly pausing music? It's not the headphones because they work fine in other devices, and different sets of headphones cause the problem. It's not a Spotify problem because Poweramp causes it too. It doesn't seem to be caused by moving the headphones, because I can wiggle the wires as well as the end of the plug and it doesn't cause it. It seems straight up random and it's driving me crazy.
Not that it'd matter, but stock, unrooted, locker bootloader, Verizon Pixel 128GB.
I think it is the notification system causing audio ducking. Try "vibrate only" for notification/ringtone volume when listening to music on headphones. That's worked for me.

That can't be it because I'm usually always on vibrate or silent, and it still happens on airplane mode with no notifications coming in.
Very bizarre problem developed:
The lead vocal track when playing any audio is barely audible through headphones. The instrumentals sound fine, but then when the lead audio enters, it almost sounds as if it is eminating from a distant echo chamber. Background vocals sound louder. Doesn't seem to matter what the source or app is. I can listen to a podcast and the lecturer/speaker is also inaudible. The problem doesn't exist with BT streaming or when playing through the speaker. The headphones work fine in other hardware.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
is your plug plugged in correctly? maybe some dust got in your 3.5mm jack
Hi,
I have a problem that when I'm listening to spotify and pause music from headphone's control, when I'm try to resume, sound is not working. The bar is moving but I hear no sound. I though that it's some sort of spotify issue but when this happens, I have no sound when using youtube either. After rebooting the device, problem gets resolved. Sometimes when pausing and resuming, everything is working fine, sometimes after couple of seconds everything comes back to normal but mostly music stops and cannot be resumed without restarting the device.
I'm using headphones with built-in mic and remote control together with usb-c -> jack 3.5mm adapter.
I have no idea what might be the cause (I guess that it is something with software).
And I'm completely stock, not rooted, bootloader locked, OOS 9.5.8
