So your saying mount USB storage with TWRP then that will allow me to drag a rom to the SD card from my computer??

Yes it should. However when I tried to do it my computer couldn't read the SD

This is easier since they doubled all paid storage last night. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with 275GB.

Boot into recovery. Then go to Mounts and Storage, and mount USB storage. Connect your phone to your computer and your SDcard contents should show.
Transfer the latest CM10 nightly to your SDcard. Then flash it and hopefully all should be fine.

Boot stops at 'Google', can't mout sdcard in cwm

Hi,
since this morning I have this problem that my Nexus S just boots until the Google logo appears.
I have no idea what caused this. I was just reinstalling the youtube app and rebooted after that and it booted.
Then I noticed that my phone would not change the screen orientation and because it worked in the past I started another reboot. But then it got stuck at the Google logo.
To solve this problem I just wanted to flash my nandroid backup but that didn't work as well cause the recovery was not able to mount the sdcard.
E:Can't mount /sdcard
Does anyone have an idea how to solve this problem? By the way is it possible to pull the Nandroid backup from the phone to my computer with ADB for example. Would be great because (of course) I just have an backup on my phone... (but if not... well, **** happens)
Thanks in advance!

Go to mounts and storage in CWM Recovery and "mount usb storage". That will let you get to your SD card to backup. Then I suggest just a clean wipe and start over.
Note: mount /sdcard just mounts it to the phone. You are wanting to mount it to your computer to pull the files off the external.

Yup thank you. Already tried that and a lot of other stuff. Seems like my phone's broken. I can't write on or erase /system or /sdcard. I'll try today to lock the bootloader and then unlock it. Maybe that solves the problem...

It's interesting and maybe fortuite that this is happening to you just as something almost equal happens to me (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1972447 ) You should also enter the recovery via adb from your computer if you have it, and check if a) you have mmc* files in /dev/block and b) have mmc error messages in dmesg (in the phone: "dmesg|grep mmc" and look for lines with "error" in them).
Btw to the person who suggested flashing stock thorough fastboot, do you mean stock system, system+boot or system+boot+recovery ? and where could I find those stock .img please? Mine's an i9020a

Hi ^^
I had the same problem with my Nexus S a long time ago and never found out how to solve it. It seems that the internal memory is corrupted and nothing but replacing the motherboard can solve it. Since I bought mine in the USA but I live in Belgium I never got mine repaired. Sometimes I come back here to see if there is still no solution but each time I'm disappointed...
Sorry.

I can confirm this. I had the same thing happen to my Nexus S 4G recently. I was never able to salvage any data off the sdcard no matter what I tried (various mounting attempts in recovery, any adb command I thought might be helpful, etc.). As a last resort I tried to lock/unlock the bootloader - once I locked it, I was unable to unlock it again, it just froze up after asking me if I was sure I wanted to unlock. I guess that's what happens when the internal sdcard goes to hell. I ended up taking it to my local Sprint store and they replaced the phone with a refurbished one from Samsung (for approximately $35).

Im screwed... stuck on CWM please help!

Hey guys, Im new to this but I got a phone. Its a Samsung Infuse 4G for AT&T. It was running cyanogen... it was jellybean 4.2.1 I believe? Anyway, now it is stuck on "CW based Recovery v6 .0.3.2" and Im stumped!!
It also isn't registering on my PC so I cant drag any files to it. It comes up that there is 2 drives, but they are grayed out, like I cant open or click on them. Ive heard of NVflash but cant figure out how to use it, not sure if I can since I cant drag and drop files on my droid.

About odin
Sewrizer said:
You can go in cwm recovery->mounts and storage-> mount sd card or usb storage then connect phone to PC. After connecting it, you copy a rom to sd card and gapps if necessary and then perform a full wipe and flash the rom along with gapps.
If the mounts and storage thing doesn't work, put your sd card in an adapter or another phone and connect it to pc and move the rom and gapps there then put the sd card back in your phone, full wipe and flash.
If this doesn't work, do a restock with odin with a rom from sammobile. If you don't know how to do it, send a reply to my post and I will give you some instructions.

Ok so, I've download ODIN and I have the ROM in a zip file in the internal memory but ODIN just takes .tar, .md5, smd, gz and tgz and I don't get odin to cominucate with the phone, ID COM never gets blue and Sammobile seems to be for Samsung phones
I would just perform a factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik cache. then try a reboot, if that doesn't work then you can mount the SD Card via mounts and storage> mount usb storage and then try a few different roms and if possible try find a stock recovery that someome else has posted and the correct Gapps. Try reflashing CWM too. Hope that helps

Oh dear, i'm in trouble now!

Hi all,
Well its been a while since been on here and played with android..
Anyway I have the one xl, was rooted running kickdroid. Was giving phone to wife n decided to wipe,,,,, and it all went downhill from there
For some reason, I factory reset but then decided to wipe from in recovery and foolishly ticked all boxes, so wiped SD, EXt SD, cache etc.
TWRP v2.6.3
Can see zip file now but says cannot open zip file (kickdroid xl v 5.0.0)
Also says do you really want to reboot no OS installed
And no root, then offers to install but fails....
I think I'm close but soo far, I just need some good advice... please
Hmm then it was having trouble being seen by pc, so formatted again with an HP usb tool, that seemed to work better.
But now I cant recall nor find how to get the rom up n running again, I tried copying to sd and trying to run from recovery but no zip files showing... should it go in android secure?
So now I'm kinda stuck n could really use some help....please!
Currently... its formatted 32gb fat32 but only shows 24gb, guess rest system or something..
Was rooted but twrp tells me not now and its attempts to install root fail
Its all unlocked S-OFF, CID 11111111
HBOOT 2.18.0000
Radio 1.35a. 32.45.27
I know its not bricked but I have now been at this for hours n going round in circles....
Can someone PULEEEZE guide me?

You've lost root because you wiped your /system partition. You have the correct amount of storage. Have you tried putting any other ROM zips on it to flash or have you only tried Kickdroid? It doesn't need to be in Android Secure, just anywhere on the virtual sd card. Do you have any folder structure on the sd card at all when you use the install function in TWRP?

You've got corrupted storage for sure. Try using the wipe feature in TWRP to wipe it, sometimes that formats it correctly.

Phone was working perfectly before I decided to wipe, its only 1 yr old, surely storage not stuffed on it already?
I'll try the TWRP again n see if can fix it, if not any other programs you can recommend?
Thanks

It might be worth trying an earlier version of TWRP, 2.6 to be exact. In my opinion things started to go a bit downhill after that build. You can download it here:

I'd flash TWRP 2.6, wipe the sd card, copy a zip across, and try to flash it.

Eassus partitioning found almost half drive bad sectors
No idea how this happened, was fine before, I'm hoping that its a magnetic deformation, which from what I read can be fixed..?
Might need to buy some software to achieve this, however if it fixes, then I'd be happy.
Other options, open phone and replace drive, is this possible on an HTC one xl?
Ive ran HDD regenerator in premade n its found to be all ok, I'm assuming this is magnetic damage not physical damage, going to run a low level format n go from there.
If phone was 10yrs old or something i'd accept as stuffed but at a year and previously working fine, I think its been a bad format, which I'm hoping is fixable

Well you wouldn't believe it, all up n running again.
The culprit ..... windows 8!!!!!
As I said phone never had any issues before, but all the read problems were when on a windows 8 pc.
Swapped to another one n all read no drama, put kickdroid 5 zip on there, flashed no drama, also the 5.2 ota flashed ok too, root all ok etc.
Only one thing outstanding, I think I need a version of google apps to make the google play work,,, cant find it on my files
Anyone point me to which one I need? ( I think its gapps 4.2.2)
I'd also like to say a BIG thanks to those who helped me thus far
