Hi everyone
I am facing a problem with my htc explorer. In the music player a hissing sound is coming when i paused the music it can be heared and after about 6 seconds the hissing sound disappears.
Is it normal or my set is faulty?? though the hissing sound is faint and can only be heared in complete silence.
Does it only happen on the music player, or when any sound is played?
My old phone, the Cliq had the same problem when playing any sounds and I got really annoyed. When it started happening I decided it was a problem with the speaker itself (hardware).

it happens when ever any sound is being played. it can also be noticed in the head phone .
That's very strange, if it occurs in the headphones too then it must be a software problem.
I would recommend contacting HTC. Sorry if I wasnt much help, I have never heard of this before

thank you gagdude . i have already got a replacement for a screen issue now the new set has this sound problem. Tomorrow will check another explorer of my friend.

Just wanted to check if it's just me or are there other forum members also experiencing the similar issue of speakers just not being loud enough???

Have you enabled dts feature when using the stock music player? Also it depends if the audio file volume was upped correctly when it was mixed. It plays real loud for me even when dts is not activated. Also think about ambient noise in the background when you are playing music

for me it's speaker, not speakers... I can only hear sound coming out of one speaker... I guess the other one is the mic... and yes I can barely hear mine too
Thanks Dude. Got it. It was the DTS function that was off.

Only the right bottom speaker on mine and 3 other test units seem to be working called my LG Rep and his is the same but its supposed to have stereo speakers as per lg

how to turn on dts
I love this phone but am also having problems with it being to quiet. i saw this post about turning on dts i cant find any option for this anywhere. not in stock music player not in settings where and how do i do this. if i cant make this speaker louder i will have to return it.
Mine's running great. Speaker is quite a bit louder than my old Nexus one. Compare it to some others if you can.

this phone compared to my droid is 1 10th as loud and thats pushing it. in music player all i have is shuffle and playlist nothing about dts. been searching the net cant find anything. can someone please walk through steps you took to do this. i hate to lose this phone but i can not handle this i cant hear it without putting it so close i can see the picture. and both the speakers on bottom are working. i read on the net about a couple dts programs from tmobile neither of which are on my phone.
When you are playing music in the stock music player. Go to the song currently playing and you'll see dts function

ok
just got the 32gig card today putting mucis on it now but that wont help videos . but if it helps on this it can be made to work on video player or get teh programs off a slate dump since i guess tehy left teh apps off the g2x.
So if one of the speakers not working, then is it a defective unit? Only my right one works and the left one doesn't.
Left one is a microphone. Wow too many people are wondering about this.

Is the speaker volume VERY low or is it just my phone? I have youtube videos turned all the way up, notifications turned all the way up, etc., and it's still not that loud.
^^^Agreed, I noticed this as well. Its not a big issue, though.

Good to know it's not just my phone then. I can live with it.
Me too. I was thinking out was just my phone.
There is already a post about this FYI.....Go to: Settings>Call>Enable "Hearing Aids"
This will help tremendously. Enjoy.
at even the highest setting, its low on my phone. but what i've found out is that the speaker is capable of a very loud sound, but is locked by the software for the highest it can go. what i am talking about is , like for google navigation, turn the volume to the highest setting, and you can see that voice guidance is extremely loud. but for all other things on the phone, its low. so a custom rom would have to increase this setting for everything to be loud, not just voice guidance on google navigation.
It's definitely not a good speaker, but check out an app called Equalizer to boost your levels.
Try volume+ from the market.
I've not got a sensation but I have increased the volume of my lg o2x hugely.

Unfortunately volume+ crashes on the Sensation.
So strange you are all claiming speaker quality is bad. Mine it's great. Very loud and clear/crisp.. Music, videos, calls. Everything. Especially with the SRS enhancement checked.

SRS is great on the HTC apps but doesn't affect Sirius or other media apps.
Well even my youtube videos and speaker phone conversations are loud and crisp on the speaker. No problems with low volume here.

For listening to music on my bt headset I use the equalizer in poweramp to boost the volume, works well for me. For voice calls I find the volume and sound quality to be amazing.

I have nothing about enabling hearing aids, or is this just a joke?
Id like to know why my phones speaker is louder than when I plug external speakers in. This isn't too clever seen as the volume also seens very low on mine. :/

Hi, yes equalizer seems to help with the speaker by cranking everything up. Still nothing like the results you can get from volume plus.
On the plus side the speaker seems to be better than previous htc devices. I have always been put off by the poor speaker. Motorola speakers I have to have below max!
I will email volume+ developer and see if he or she will update.

Yes, it currently doesn't work on the Sensation and I'm not entirely sure why. I'm currently looking into why it force closes and will then release a bug fix.
Thanks.

So my friend showed me this huge & annoying defect & I was able to replicate it. Let's see if you can too.
When connecting the phone to my car stereo through an AUX cable to play music & I get a text it'll pause the music briefly & the phone's speaker will play the notification. 9 times out of 10 the speaker also crackles or makes a pop. Doesn't seem right. Does it do it for your phone too?
has anyone or will anyone else test this out for me? please & thanks
never really noticed this...ill try n pay attention when I get off work later on tonite n ill report if I have the same problem

Well I tried to listen to any pop or sound bt I couldn't hear anything, the notification music jumps right in n when done the music player continues to play..
Also, everything on mine plays on the car speakers continuously, nothing from the fone speaker.
So ur sound will switch from the car speakers to the fone speaker without u even unplugging it? Then that's just weird
also @xnifex, are you using the standard notifications or did u set ur own sound/song for the text notification

Was listening to music via power amp and headphones while IMing and noticed the music being interrupted with the notification sound. The I just turned on silent mode and the problem was fixed

Correct, the music coming out of my car's speakers pauses & the phone's speaker phone will play the notification. Using the HTC Subtle sound for texts
Do any of you guys use this? The low speaker is started to frustrate me like crazy. Can barely hear calls on speakerphone even when all the way up, and I have to turn the volume all the way up to even be able to hear youtube videos and sounds in games. It's pathetic. Will the volume+ app fix this? And what setting do you use? I'm just looking for it to be a little louder and not blow the speaker.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149422
People do use it.
There's also Equalizer in the Market which is what I use.

Anybody else experiencing this when for example starting a movie om youtube? Is this normal or could it be a defect speaker? Should I exchange the note?
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
I've noticed that occasionally on YouTube only. Its like an electric pop sound. I believe the youtube app has compatibility issues with this tablet. Try VEVO and no problem at all.
So no don't return no hardware issue.

I've checked this again but this is definetly not only on the youtube app, it cracks everytime I start a video or a sound, seems to crack once in the begining and end when the speaker gets de- & activated and only on the right side. No creaks during the playback. Strange.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Plz can someone else confirm this? Only the right speaker!
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Sounds like you need to exchange. I hear nothing odd on Netflix. I don't use YouTube app, but I'll try it. Back soon.
---------- Post added at 09:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:49 AM ----------
I did hear that. It's probably YouTube. I don't hear the cracks any other time when listening to videos on Netflix. I'll check my browser and let you know.
YouTube in Dolphin sounds fine. It's an app issue. You can check this yourself.
I hear it every time the speaker is turned on or off , no creaking in between. This happens even when typing with sound or receiving notifications . This is not application specific, it happens all the time, only when triggering and ending a sound output. Guess got myself a faulty speaker, got the new update via kies an hour ago, creaking sound stays the same. I've contacted the Samsung support, but I am not relying on hearing something soon from them. But when some of you guys say they can't hear this, it's clear for me.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Can even hear the creaking when sound is completely turned off(mute) and I pull the s pen. Waiting for 5 seconds to plug it back and it creaks again. I' so pi***d off, I paid the full price to get it earlier now I'll have wait weeks for an exchange.
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
The YouTub app has a noise for sure, right speaker, kind of a crack sound. I hear it no where else.
Time for an exchange. Sorry to hear. No pun.
---------- Post added at 01:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:02 PM ----------
I even did the pen test with the sound all the way down. No noise. Sorry.
Exchanged but got the gray one, now sound is working as it should.

I am having the same issue. Every time the speakers activate there is a little crack sound. Then about 5 seconds after all sounds stop the speakers crack again. During the 5 seconds there is a static hiss. It affects both speakers but the crack is much louder from the right speaker. Now what I find really interesting is that it also happens with my Bose headphones plugged in. So it is not the speakers but the sounds chip/card I am guessing. I am so disappointed. Has anyone else had this problem and discovered a fix? I just got my 32GB yesterday. I suppose I have no option but to return it but I am holding out hope that there might be a software fix.
My fix -> exchanged!
Sent from my GT-N8000 using xda app-developers app
Good news.
Have the same problem , is there a fix for it?
has anyone figured out a fix for this? i have the gt-n8013. i get the 5 second static hiss/hum, sound, 5 second hiss/hum, crack. all this happens while i start to get audio and then when the audio ends. i use some very nice audio technica ckm99 in-ear buds. however, when i plug in my sennheiser hd448 and don't hear it at all? perhaps because the 448 is over-ear and the 99 are in-ear?
i was tempted to either by an in-line noise reducer, or a ferrite core, or even flash a new kernel (boeffla). the hiss/hum isn't that bad and if i focus on the sounds, i can hear it during playback of music/video but it doesn't deter from the media i'm listening/watching if i get engrossed in it. the fact is that it's there and that bugs me.
i want to know if this is fixable or do i just have to live with it? worse case if i can't stand it anymore, i'll just buy another 448 and keep it as a carry-along. thanks!
