Do I need to flash a new radio?? - HTC Sensation

Hi all,
I have 2 htc sensations on hand
Sensation A was originally from Cincinnati Bell, it's rooted with ARHD 6.6.7 XE running good.
Sensation B is a factory unlocked model, CID HTC_044 (some asia model)
My problem is, Sensation A sometimes gets very low to non signal at some places (specially indoor)and the connection on mobile network is terribly slow (HSPA), while my Sensation B gets almost full or full signal at the same places and mobile network works good(HSPA).

yes do that
1.check the current radio of sensation B (settings-.about->soft wrae information->more->baseband)
2.get the same radio and matching ril from this thread
3.flash the both on sensation A ..using the instructions ..which are given in the same thread

help
Sensation A :
Before OTA ICS update:10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M (was great on data connection)
After OTA ICS update : 11.69A.3504.00U_11.23.3504.07_M2 (acceptable)
Sensation B :
Baseband version: 11.69A.3504.00P_11.23.3504.07_M2 (not too good)
The only difference between both baseband is an U and a P, will this make that much difference? plus I can't find a file to download and flash it!

Hi,
The "U" and "P" are just carrier related, and should not make any difference to the radio signal.

Hi,
You must understand that signals vary throughout the world.
I cannot say what would be best for you in your area.
Sometimes you have to experiment with radios and rils, until you find the one that is best for your phone.

Do you flash a new radio base band version just like you would a Rom or kernel.and I know it goes off your area so does like go off of your city, state, country could someone please explain.

PG58IMG.zip will contain the radio.img which gets flashed when you put it on your sd card

Hi,
The link I gave you is where you should ask radio specific questions.
mf2112 knows a lot more about radio/ril than I do.
I am sure he can direct you to the right combination.

As it seems it's the stock radio for 2.3.4, so it's simply the one that would have been installed when flashing the stock 2.3.4?

Normally the rom itself dosent include the required radio therefore u need to flash the radio urself...
For 2.3.4, its best to flash the stock radio compatiable for it...its the radio version in my sig anyway...

[Q] Low or no signal on ARHD

hi!
im using ARHD 3.6.13 with the recommended radio.
i moved to a new house and now i get very low signal or no signal.
i thought it my cel company problem, but when i have friends or family come over and they use the same company they got full reception.
any ideas what i can do to fix this issue? change kernel? radio?
any help will be great
thank you!
any help here?
sorry for bumping but i really can use some help here
It is most probably a radio issue. What radio version are you using? And did you check if the corresponding RIL are flashed correctly?
What about wifi reception? Is it causing you trouble too?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191 using xda premium
wifi working great
im using the recommended radio which is suggested in the arhd topic.
is there something i can do to try and make this better?
The recommended radio is not always suitable for everyone. It depends on many factors like geographic location, network provider... I would suggest that you flash the radio that you were using before arhd and give it a try.

You must determine the radio that went with your old ROM (I assume stock). So look on the stock ROM index sticky in the development forum for your phone. Find out with stock RUU you would have (likely region/carrier related), and flash the radio that is meant for it.

Issue Network after tried to installe a Rom for GS2

HI everyone,
I recently trie to put the ROM OAKP on my device HTC Sensation XE. THe setupd did'nt work, so I put a backup that I done. But now I can't call or send sms. I have "service Limited" on the phone. I tried to set up different ROMS (HD REVOLUTION, OrDroid) but I still occure the same probleme. I update the firmwire and the Radio, but nothing solve the problem
Does any one have a solution ?
Regards,
Edit___
After few search I found that the Rom which gave me trubl is a ROM for Galaxy S2
then, when I do simlock from the bootloader I have : MCCMNC file fail / CID file fail
I have alread flashed new radio (a lot), new firmware and new rom
I can't call or text but I have the data
I had lost my data about a week ago.
How I fixed mine was by using one of the generic ics (4.0.3) radio with matching RIL file. I know you said you tried radio and ril but if you don't get the correct radio and ril it won't work. Have you tried the generic ics radio with matching RIL file? This is how I restored my data. Hopefully this helps you. Best wishes. Give that a try and you can find the generic ics radio and matching ril by searching.. hopefully this fixes your issue. I believe there Are about 7 generic ics radios with matching ril files. It takes some searching but you will find them. This worked right Away for me, hopefully it will work for you As well.

Not in the folder with all the Radio.
Because you have a folder with all the RIL and a lot of folder for the differents radio
You might want to ask on the radio forum then because I'm not sure if not together they might be interchangeable but that I'm not sure of its best to ask on radio forum. Wish I could be of more help.

Update 6.6.7 to --- ARHD 6.7.2 | ICS

At the risk of sounding like a noob, sorry in advance! I've been trawling through these posts but have been unable to find a straight answer so here goes.
I'm using a rooted HTC Sensation with ARHD 6.6.7 XE w Beats Audio, Firmware 3.32.401, HTC sense 3.6. Everything works perfectly!!!!!!!
I just want to update to latest ARHD 6.7.2 ,XE w BA.
Can I just flash the ROM update and be done?
Or
Do I need to - superwipe, update firmware to 3.33.401 and then flash ROM?
Very much appreciated. H

Hi,
Going from 6.6.x to 6.7.x ,you are changing bases.
You need to wipe in recovery...
Format all partitions (except sd card)
Then install new ROM.
It will work with the 3.32. firmware, but you get the new radio with 3.33 firmware.
You can get 3.33 universal firmware HERE

Could you left an information if you still believe to old firmware, because I have the same question and would like to reseive experiences.
In some cases is it better to go to next firmware, new radio better corresponding to new rom. So I am not sure to let old firmware worlk with the new rom.
Other question:
Is in the new firmware the bootloader locked ??? I hope not. So why do not upgrade to new firm ?
I found the firmware here
Many thanks for reply.

So what is universal about it?
I have added a method found by mf2112 that allows the android-info file to have a wildcard tag. So instead of having a T-Mobile file where the android-info file has every cidnum the identifier is one entry into the android-info file and it covers every possible CID that T-Mobile has.

Not sure about the other firmware but use the universal as suggested because it does NOT change the boot or lock anything, I've upgraded my self to the 3.33 universal the one that won't lock or change boot. I've had zero issues and it has been wonderful . Make sure to READ before you install to be sure your downloading the correct version. You place the file at root of sd card, boot to downloader by taking battery out put battery back in, then press volume down and power at the same time. It will recognise the pg58img file and ask to update, press power for yes. Once the update is completed and rebooted. REMOVE the pg58img file! If you don't it will want to continue to update over and over inside the downloader, so delete the file soon as your finished. Hope this helps. Best wishes.

Hi,
"To briefly explain with a somewhat-less-than-accurate analogy for the purist, the radio you can flash is like a firmware package in Windows terms, and the RIL is like a driver. It is important to match them for best results, or else poor or no reception is likely, as well as high battery drain." (Quote from HERE )
The radio controls mobile data, wifi, basically all radio signals in the phone.
A good radio/ril combination is required for good reception, and even good battery usage in the area in which you live .
Check the link above to see if you can get more information.

Does the firmware and/or mis-matching RIL affect Bluetooth?

Just wondering if this is the case and I should update firmware. My network coverage seems to have no issues, my WiFi at home seems to hav no issues but the Bluetooth in the car is aggravating! GetRIL tells me "unknown" and I have reported it but no response. ARHD 6.8.0 3.33 faux10.

With Android Revolution HD versions try to use firmware from here:
Firmware from 3.33.401.6 & 3.33.401.106 RUU
Just download the latest firmware version and flash it.You probably won't have any issues after that.I suppose you are S-OFFed!
Why you don't install the latest ARHD (7.3) from here?

Thanks. Yes, I'm s-off'd.
I'd kept an eye on the forum as 7.* was released and spotted a few posts mentioning issues with random restarts among other things so I held off cause my current configuration seems to go well and didn't want the dramas. But you reckon it's good to go?
