Hi everyone,
I'm actually looking for a 7 inch tablet to have a real portable device aside my Transformer. I was surfing the web a bit to find one and I was surprised to see that there are very few 7 inch tablets out there
The Nexus 7 will not be available in my country before october et november and the Iconia A110 will not be sold here at all...
So my question is : Is it still worth buying a gtab 2.0 ? I can have one for 259 € (16Gb Wifi only) at my reseller but I'm wondering if it will fit my needs... ? Mostly web browsing, ebooks reading, music and a bit of gaming (android games and emulators).
Is it comfortable to read on it with the 1024*600 resolution ? Is the browsing experience good enough ?
Thanks in advance for your advices

Yep, will do all those things without any problems I installed the firefox nightly and its pretty decent for web browsing. Read a few books on it and I dont personally have any issues with it at all.
If you cant hold out till the Nexus 7 then this is probably your best bet. Although honestly for your needs, might be worth holding out for it.
I use Moon+ for ereading and Chrome for the browser. Love it.

The only place you may have issues is that some games aren't compatible with the device stock. I use it for reading, web browsing, and twitter, and have no issues at all with any of them.
So far I'm finding the tap 2 7" fits my needs just fine. Still seams like a good buy for the price.

for sure go for it.it is handy.browsing is smooth use firefox or chrome.ebook reading will also be a good experience use quickoffice, moon reader, ezreader or polaris.
And even the games like shadowgun works like charm so your 3rd criteria is also staisfied so go for it...
I agree with them too.It is a very nice little tab,of course there will be better, like anything else in life. I find it pretty complete, and like Droidlover123 is saying very useful, though it comes with a spotty wifi for some of us,but I also recommend it.
Go ahead and get this baby, besides that microsd cards are dirt cheap so you can upgrade in a heartbeat. You will have everything in one spot. :good:
Thank you all for your advices :good:
I am still hesitating as I just saw some Nexus 7 tablets for sale on ebay for 300$...
Big dilemma
Up to you I'm not sorry I got the SGT2_7. It's fast n smooth once you root and uninstall the bloatware.

just a quick point for potential Nexus 7 buyers vs GT2... the 7 does not have a SD Slot.. that was a deal breaker for me-

Same. Guy at best buy also told me that the nexus 7 only does portrait mode. Not sure if that's true or not

I'd say wifi is a pain in this device.

The reason i have not updated yet. May update then when im home go to cm9
I think I am getting used to it,I updated and it is smoother and snappier now.As for the wifi I am having the same glitches I had before and not everyday.
One more thing, since I purchased the case it seems to work better because I don't cover with my hand as much as I used to,so at this point I would recommend the purchase and the update.Love this baby.

Hey guys, I'm planning to buy a netbook not laptop, and those two are my choices but can't decide.
Google the specs.
I want to use them for daily use, school project, internet and gaming.
Can those two runs game like the Sims 3? Or at least the Sims 2, can it play Dota?
Are there any other netbook that you recommended with similar price? Or maybe a laptop

I would get the HP Mini, my wife has one and it is a fast little computer. She plays bejeweled, Sims 2 (I think, not sure) and does all her school work on it so I would go with that one if I were you!
Good luck on your decision and let me know how it all went down...lol
Hey Guys, I don't know if I posted this in the right place
I just want to ask you all,
Should I buy the Asus Transformer Ft101 or wait for the prime to drop its price !
I don't have any tablet but I have experience with android .
Is the only difference between those two the tegra 2 vs 3 processor ?
Is ICS coming soon to this tablet ?
Thank you all for the advice . And sorry admins if I put this thread in the wrong section ;-)
Ics is supposed to be out this month for tf101. Prime and its dock r both slimmer which means u lose one usb port. Some have reported wify issues with the prime. I have a tf101 and its great, no issues here.

Avoid the Prime, it has too many problems. (No GPS, Wifi and Bluetooth issues, only mono audio, etc.)
The TF101 is a much better deal, so long as you're willing to wait a while for ICS to come out.
So many "should I buy a TF101" threads. None of them in the Q&A forum either. hmmmm
I guess you should figure it out your self i mean
do you like playing games and stuff
or just browsing the web?
I would buy the TF101... Not really impressed by the Prime, and the Tegra3 SoC seem to be a benefit only to graphic demanding apps (or games ). I would be better to pack some more RAM on it... (IMO: I don't care to see true 1080p HD movies on a 10 inch screen... for that i have a 32 inch TV, and for videogames... not until they all have some sort of game pad support, like GTA3. So the Tegra2 SoC does the job i need more than fine).
For the price and the bugs the Prime is experiencing i would buy today a TF101 if i didn't add one already .
Hey guys, thanks for the advice, I just bought an FT101 with the dock . And as you can see I also bought my first App = XDA Premium :-D Love this app ;-) also I had installed the Revolution HD Rom . I want to use it as my main "Netbook" . Till this oment I had just 2 crashes with this ROM ;-) .......

Anything's better than an Android tablet. They are just oversized phones. However, W8 is optimized for tablets, so it'll be insane. The answer becomes easy now: go Surface

I have a Nexus 7 which is great, but I use it mainly for reading. I'd like a bigger tablet for work and the Surface looks ideal especially as it'll have MS Office. Even a 16GB Wi-fi only model would be so useful combined with cloud storage.
Hey guys
I'm from outside the US and looking for a nice tablet for under $200 (yay 3rd-world-country currency restrictions ). Now, I've had an old HTC Magic, then a Motorola Defy and now a ZTE V970M. They're all great phones, with lots of development and nice features, and I'm looking for a tablet that I can get from Amazon with the same or similar features.
Basically, I'm looking for this:
A tablet that is small (7" is enough, I wouldn't mind 10" though) with a capacitive screen (or responsive enough, anyways) with some development other than the stock ROM and Android 4.0+, since I love to make ROMs for android devices. Also, I'm planning to use it to connect it to HDMI TVs, so an HDMI output would be a big bonus. I would also try to use it as a laptop so allowing connectivity to any of those case-with-keyboard things (through bluetooth or USB) is a need. I don't care much for battery life, as long as it can be rooted I can work my way around to make it save battery like hell
Here are the options I've looked at:
Around 180$ & 168$ respectively: Galaxy Tab 2 ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-1 ) and Galaxy Tab Plus ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...f=sr_1_19?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-19 ) but they don't have HDMI output, not even with an external converter, I was wondering if that's true?
119$: The Coby MID7065-8 ( http://www.amazon.com/Coby-7-Inch-A...ref=sr_1_4?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-4 ) looks good but... it's Coby :/ and also, it doesn't seem to have a CyanogenMod-compatible CPU, and I don't wanna be locked to ICS forever.
165$: The Acer Iconia looks *awesome* ( http://www.amazon.com/Acer-A500-10S...f=sr_1_22?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472318&sr=1-22 ) but it's Android 3.0, is it a good buy if I can upgrade it to CM 10 or a stock 4.0-4.1-4.2 ?
174$: This Galaxy Tab SCH-i800 looks weird, is it any good? ( http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...f=sr_1_50?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472705&sr=1-50 )
104$!!!: This SANEI looks awesome too ( http://www.amazon.com/Android-Scree...f=sr_1_71?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1368472813&sr=1-71 ) but I wonder if I can upgrade it to more than ICS/JB ? it has a Cortex A9 and I've heard there's some compatible CM around for Cortex chips, so would it be a good buy?
$199: The Kindle Fire HD seems like a good $199 option ( http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1555100222&pf_rd_i=507846 ) BUUUUUT... it's a reader, and I've had experiences with the B&N Nook Simple Touch that I don't wanna repeat, such as having a very locked firmware and not having all of the working features if I upgrade to CM or something similar :/
Any tips guys? I really need the advice, as I need to make a choice by tomorrow maximum
Thanks in advance!

Yeah but the Nexus 7 is from swappa actually I have to remove that option XD since it doesn't fit my tight time requirements
What about the iconia A500 though? I've seen it has better screen resolution, Tegra 2 and such, plus JB 4.2 judging by the subforum: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1136
Acer does make good products and I guess for your needs it would work

I'm glad it worked out for you.
I will mainly use the tablet for reading PDF and browsing. I prefer a tablet with:
1. Screen size big enough for reading
2. Wi-fi only
3. High ppi
4. Not laggy
5. Good battery
6. Stylus if possible
7. Support for OS update
I have been eyeing iPad air, but many good Android tablets are coming (Nexus 10 2, Samsung TabPro 10.1). So I need some suggestions. Thank you.
Well, it depends on prices in your country...
GSMArena made a pretty good comparison between popular tablets: just search "GSMArena tablet shopping guide"
(I'm not allowed to post external links)
To my opinion, if your main purpose is to read a pdf files, and you don't mind a not-so-slick look and feel,
i would definitely recommend the nexus10 over other tablest in the mixture of price (especially if you can buy it thru Google Play Market), performance, screen and future update (official or by xda dev).
I don't know what would the nexus10 2 feature over the prev model, but be advised that it would cost much higher
(again- if GMarket is not available).
My Nexus 7 is fine for reading PDF's
Go for Kindle fire if you want to read things only..
