Hi guys,
I tried many ICS roms some sense and other non-sense still all are laggy and no ICS rom is comparable with GB roms especially MIUI.GB .. is that true or I'm missing something here? Is it kernel source for Desire S? I don't think so as Virtuous Saga rom is laggy too
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda app-developers app
Virtuous Saga is a leaked ROM, it isn't final and isn't fully polished/tested. Moreover, the kernel and ROM might be running in debug or partial debug mode, dumping lots of data and slowing down the system. The only other stock ICS ROM for testing is the community ROM from chinese OTA, but it doesn't have some of the functionality.
Given proper drivers or kernel adaptation, I don't think there should be any reason for slower ICS performance. One of the causes might be lack of kernel source, and adaptations for older binary drivers that are done to compensate for it. But it's only my opinion, not facts - I can't prove or disprove it.
Hi, have you tried AOKP? I just recently restored my old GB Sense ROM after having used AOKP for the last couple of months, just to see which one feels faster. After just one day I was back on AOKP.

My opinion: all ICS ROMs for Desire S are still laggy and baggy in some way I've tried a couple of them and I'm still disappointed We are all hard waiting for HTC to release kernel 3.0 source. After that some problems with speed and stability will be fixed. And after that we'll see is "true" ICS on Desire S faster or not Until now - yes, faster. In my opinion, of course.
I use icecoldsandwitch and like it very much.
Its based on the AOKP rom.
Still a bit laggy but as good as it gets.

Hey guys i have the htc sensation z710e and I am running sense-o-maniac ICS 4.0.3. It is stable and no bugs but I am growing bored of HTC SENSE, does anybody know any roms for the sensation that are PURE ICS and stable? If so, please give me a link.
thanks,
sensation lover.
Virtuous made one where they manually removed the Sense features. But I think it's still a Sense framework and therefore basically still Sense.
I'm with you. I hate everything about Sense. I've tried it a couple times on the Sensation. It doesn't last an hour before I flash back to a pure AOSP alpha build of CM7 that has it's share of bugs...but that I still like better than Sense.
Best bet is to wait on CM9.
Virtuous Quattro is pure AOSP.

How did I miss this?
That's getting flashed tonight!
Maybe I'm blind, but there used to be a list with all roms available...cant find it anymore!
anyway, can someone provide some stable Stock ICS Roms (not only here on xda). Currently I'm on an older ROM from trip, but he stopped supporting it so I want to switch. Still I cant find any good stock ICS rom for the sensation in the internet. All of Trip's ROMs are well built, but not perfectly finished: Video playback lag, poor battery life, etc...isnt there a fully working Stock ICS rom out there? please no "senseless"-crap
I tried tripndroid OS and tripnmiui
thanks !
Here's the stock ICS release: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1529941
thx, but mabye you misunderstood or I made a mistake: I want plain ICS (AOSP), no Sense UI. The ROM you posted however, has Sense 3.6
maybe I will give it a try anyway

Hi ...
I'm trying to do my friend a favor by downloading a costume ics rom on his pyramid since he doesn't really like his stock rom , so my question is what is the most stable and non bugs rom for ics you advice me to download ? thanks a lot for the help guys
Custom ROMs
Since your friend is not happy with the stock ROM, you can give Android Revolution HD a miss, since it is as close to stock as one can get. Though it is rock solid & very stable.
You can go through this brilliant thread to have a look at the various ROMs available, the sense-less ROMs in particular:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613295
Do you want AOKP or sense 3.6 or 4? Cuz for sense for me it was ARHD.
but I've been using HyperSensation (AOKP) on and off for a while.
If you're looking for stability in general, I wouldn't go for sense 4 right now.
In the titles they have to advertise their stability, which isn't a really good sign IMO.
It depends if you want a stock look or a aosp look, I'm pretty sure for stock most people would recommend
this and for aosp it would be this or this the reason I didn't link you to cm9 or aokp based rom because they still have minor bugs which isn't technically 100% stable but if you don't mind those bugs and want a vanilla android feel get one of those.
P.s make sure you make a nandroid before flashing a rom.

ARHD is not wrong.
others you can try Ordriod.
The three most stable from my experiences are:
Arhd
Leedroid
Elegancia
(Ordroid is very close to getting there)

Most are stable unless they indicate beta!
Insert Coin is pretty good
I experimented with several ROM's including MikeHD OrDroid, Virtuious however for my preference and taste I Recommend LEEDroid Sensational 7.3.0 Many thanks to this fabulous developer!
Asianic v.2. Super stable, fast with every conceivable mod to choose from and great sound to boot.
I would say Virtuous Inquisition, never had any problems with it. OrDroid is almost there as well...
I've been running Ordroid 8.1.0 for a couple days now. It's pretty stable. It's crashed a couple times. Rebooted randomly once. But not much else if you're intested in sense 4.0. I might consider going back to Charmander and try that out for a longer period.
I've tried virtuous, its stable, however I'm liking beatsbygrogg its very stable too it has sence and virtuous is a sence less Rom , I get WiFi and hotspot. Its just a matter of personal taste. I think you should try out a few roms and see which one suits your own personal preference.
That's the fun part. Thank God for the developers to give us options, just try some and see what YOU prefer. Have fun.

Any full functional AOSP rom?
I come from using a nexus one, and before that a g1, so I am used to having vanilla android on my phone or at least having the option to have it. I bought the one S when my phone broke down thinking that the htc sense UI would not be such bad thing. However after a few weeks I still can't seem to get used to it and actually have grown to hate it. I installed a rom that doesn't have most of sense but it still doesn't have the same feel. So getting to my question, why isn't there a rom that is just plain ics without sense. Will this ever be available?
Also kind of off topic, but why was sense ever created? I understand that htc wanted to put a twist on android but wouldn't it be enough to create the apps and widgets? I feel like some of the key features of android are lost and for little gain. What is going to happen when jelly bean rolls out? Will one S owners have to wait more while htc tweaks it to work with sense again? I have gotten really used to the hardware aspects of this phone but I am contemplating switching over to a galaxy nexus just for the benefit of having vanilla android and having more development support.
Have you tried CM9 or Paranoid?

that differen kernel is still based on a heavy "sensed" one by HTC. easily tested by it's multitasking ability or lack thereof. i don't think anybody "de-sensed" it completely yet.
HTC One S via XDA
CM9, AOKP and Parandroid are not sense Based. Ohe kernel is not sense based. a good example is MIUI, there are 2 MIUI builds, one is AOSP based (based on CM9) and the other one is sense Based.
Want proof by your own? flash CM9 or AOKP and flash a sense kernel on top of it and try to boot the phone. you will get a boot loop.
CM9 is the closest you will get to an AOSP pure vainilla rom since is based on it.
You guys on the first page must be pretty challenged... CM9, AOKP, and PARANOID are based off the the CM9 source. They have NOTHING to do with Sense. The only Sense based ROM (not stock ROMs, IE TrickDroid) is one version of MIUI as it has the stock Sense camera and such...
Sense was created because it's what HTC wanted. Why is there TouchWiz, Moto Blur, or anything else like that? It's because the device manufacturers wanted their own version. Thank the dev team for the option to switch different version of Android... We will only have AOSP ROMs and not ever stock ICS (no mods) ROMs because there is no stock ICS for our device. Only Sense or AOSP.

That's really funny that you're calling him out when CM is definitely not stock vanilla ics.
So, the easiest answer to this question is because no one, including the OP, has created one yet, if its even possible with what there is to work with.
I'm actually pretty happy with all of the options devs have created for this phone.
only "nexus" phones have vanilla ics

What does "stock ICS" actually mean in this context? AOSP is the true Android experience as Google intended, right? So, is stock ICS something else?
So we can get:
AOSP - original;
AOSP - customized;
Sense - original (default)
Sense - customized.
Is this correct?
Wouldn't we be able to get TouchWiz ROMs, for example?
I'm new to flashing ROMs and all, but I've been following the scene for the past few months, and even though I can say I'm among the brighter people, I still have difficulties understanding - mostly - the nomenclature of the scene.
We don't have it because is EVIL. That stupid google search gadget permanently stuck to all pages is ridiculously stupid. Plus indeed a lot of the interface. HTC Sense is like a cool breeze.
well i come from HTC Sensation ROMS, and in that sections there are a lots of "Senseless ROMS" where everything related with sense is removed, except for the camera, and the roms were so smooth and as fast as AOSP ROMS, the feeling was exactly the same,
I hope someone make a senseless rom for HTC One S soon because its really awesome (like a AOSP rom without any bug becaus its based on a sense rom byt without any sense part)

There are AOSP roms; they are just in the alpha stage of development and rather buggy in some areas. If you want a senseless ROM (as in the actual sense launcher removed), any of the HTC-based roms (including stock, non-rooted phones) can have Sense removed and replaced by any launcher from the market. I've tried the existing AOSP roms, and aside from the bugs... the stripped down HTC-roms as just a quick.
Dear friends,
I've been using Fallout rom for a while now but I decided to try a Sense 3.5 rom since they run more stable and faster than most ICS roms.
First I tried Endymion and later Energy rom. However with both roms I get a lot of crashes and I can't figure out why. Sense 3.6 roms run fine.
The crashes with Sense 3.5 also happen whilst the nothing is installed. How can I find out what's crashing my phone?
AW: Lots of crashes when using a Sense 3.5 rom
If they keep crashing, why do you still think they're more stable?
I was on endy before this, planing on going back after doing a test with reaper. Never had any crashes/reboot. I could only think of bad download/install as the cause if no app was installed/restored.
You probably didn't flash the boot.img and are still using the stock kernel.

Coming from fallout it wouldn't even have booted on the previous kernel, so that can't be the issue.
Have you changed any oc/uv settings?

I flashed the right boot.img and did clean installs (wipe data/cache) and haven't touched oc/uv settings. It also seems to happen more often when I'm multitasking e.g. Listening to music and browsing.

Good one. One would expect the gingerbread roms to be more stable but not on my phone. I like the gingerbread speed and they're more battery friendly than ICS roms in my experience.

As far as I know, now ICS ROMs and JB ROMs are far more stable that GB ones. I am using Flinny's CM10.1 build 12 ROM daily without any issue, and I saw that Desire XS is pretty fast, maybe as fast as GB ROMs. Except for personal taste I see no point to stick around with GB ROMs.
desire xs is a great ROM ,, GB does not stand a chance!
