I keep getting prompts to connect to wifi when I am on my 4G but I don't want to. Is there anyway to remove this?

Which notification? There are two prompts, one is an ongoing notification and one is a popup. I just posted earlier about the popup:

you should search for sure, both of you guys this has been covered. the short answer is get anycut and create a link to wifioffloading and disable it.

I managed to find your post where you suggested using anycut. I'm curious as to why it is no longer in the Play Store, but there are paid alternatives :-/
Anyway, I got it from some random website, and I cannot find wifioffload within AnyCut.
edit: Found it! It's called HiddenMenuWifiOffload. Thanks!
Is there a way to remove the ongoing notification?

Hey thanks man, I appreciate it. Wanted to actually thank you instead of just using the button.
Here is the anycut app
http://db.tt/BH6qpCxz
If you don't want to use anycut, and you are using a launcher such as Nova or ADW, you can also access HiddenMenuWifiOffload.
Long press on home screen
Nova: Select "Shortcuts" "Activities"
ADW: Select "Custom Shortcut" "Pick your activity"
Scroll down and click on "Service Mode" then click on HiddenMenuWifiOffload.
Click OK and open your new shortcut.
I tried to post this in another thread, but since it's flagged as a developer section, I'm not allowed.

Thanks for sharing this, worked perfectly.
instead of using anycut.... you could use SQLite Editor.
If you go to Settings Storage->settings.db->system->
then go to line 101 which has the name "wifi_offload_network_notify" and change the value from 1 to 0
I was under the impression that root was needed to disable the popup, glad I decided to read this thread . I installed nova and made a shortcut to disable wifioffload and then uninstalled nova. this should be put in a sticky thread somewhere

I just installed launcher pro and was wondering how to get the 2nd icon to work [looks like a person]. I'm assuming it's for contacts.
Every time I click on it, it says "Application is not installed on your phone".
What app do I need to install for it to work?!
press and hold. It will ask what you want to associate it to and select applications and then scroll to contacts

Yup, thats how you do it. Took me awhile to figure that one out myself, haha. Glad the OP got it fixed
Thanks to idbl_fanatic, over at Android Forums for finding this!
1. Install Anycut from the android market (it's free)
2. Open Anycut and select "New Shortcut"
3. Now click Activity
4. Scroll down the list of activities until you see "Select COM Port Mode" and click it. Just hit ok to accept the default name
5. You will see a "shortcut created" notification. Go back to your homescreen and look for the new shortcut
6. Once you click the new shortcut you'll see three radio buttons. Simply change to Mass Storage

I actually didn't find this, someone else had posted it on one of the many forums I go to, I just passed it along.
Regardless, it is working flawlessly!
I could cry actually, because I was so scared that my Triumph had a defect, but it actually turned out to be fixable!
I just click on the "turn on usb mass storage" (or something like that) button. Was that not working or something? Downloading an app to do the same thing seems like a bit of overkill to me.

Sometime the TRIUMPH don't see that it is plugged in to the PC, and nothing you can do will fix it.
Ah, that makes sense then. I was curious why you had to do all that, and know I know.
Yeah, this is for those whose PC would not pick up the phone for USB transferring. Keep this in mind as some people have reported the USB working one day, then the next day it won't pick up.

Just wanted to mention that if you're using Launcher Pro or other non stock launchers, you can already create shortcuts without having to install another app. Otherwise, great tip.

Any luck finding which app it goes to, though? On ADW, they don't list everything all jumbled together... they have it spread out in quite a few little submenus.
had no idea there was an issue with this. Mine has taken a wile a few times but never not recognized at all

I don't know about ADW but on launcher pro, you just long press on an empty area of your home screen and select Shortcuts from the long press menu. I can only assume you would do the same thing in adw but I could be wrong.

That's what you do, I just have no idea where the shortcut would be Although I'm still looking for it.
Today I was having an issue with my phone plugging in to my computer, and this little guide saved my butt. Strangely it's been working on and off just fine, and even when it doesn't "connect" PDANet still sees it has appeared. But thanks to this guide it's now working as a pseudo-modem AND a USB device both. Kudos.

I was wondering if you could post some step by step instructions on how to make that short cut in Launcher Pro. I know how to get the shortcut started but I am lost after that.

It should be under add>Shortcuts > Activities> Hidden Menu. The process for ADW is very similar.

Respected members, i am not able to find the " select COM port Mode" in the Anycut.....
kindly help.....
same here
Thanks to Apple, Samsung devices have lost their universal search [searching google, local apps, local contacts, etc.]
I tried this solution on my GS3 and on my N8013 and it brought back the functionality.
I take no credit, all credit goes to XDA's eyecon82.
I'm just letting you US-WIFI-only owners know that it works.
It's very useful for me.
As eyecon82 said himself in this POST:
1) Download the apk at the beginning of this thread, place it on your SDcard (or phone) where you'll find it easily.
2) Install root explorer (or equivalent, I used root explorer though)
3) Go to /system/app and mount as R/W
4) move GoogleQuickSearch.apk somewhere else, just so you have it if you need to restore it
5) Go to where you placed the full-featured apk, copy/move it to /system/app
6) Long-Click on GoogleQuickSearch.apk, select permissions, and set to rw-r--r-- (ie, row 1: yes yes no, row 2: yes no no, row 3: yes no no)
7) Hit okay, mount R/O, and quit
8) Go to Settings > Application Manager > All
9) Select Google Search, and clear data/cache
10) Select Google Services Framework, clear data/cache
11) Reboot
12) ???
13) Profit!!!

[Q] Replace the "Always" and "Just Once" options when opening a link/file...
Is there any way to mod the phone so that instead of asking if I want to use a particular app "Always" or "Just Once" it assumes its "Just Once" unless I click an "Always" check box?
Its really a drag, especially on web links when I have 6 browsers and may want to use a different one at different times for whatever reason, to have to keep selecting the app and hit "Just Once" every single time. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!
SOLVED SOLUTION:
For this to work you must install the [XPOSED Framework] and the [AlternateAppPicker: ICS-style default app chooser for JB]
This Xposed modification brings back an ICS-style default application picker where you just tap the application name once for it to launch, and tap a checkbox prior to that if you want it to be the default app.

Thanks, yes, I use that all the time. Believe it or not, I want to save myself from having to open the page and click the "invisible" box, scroll to bottom and click save, and go back to page I was on. Lol. Anyway, thanks for your time!
