Audio docking station? - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Hi all. I just had a quick thought. a while ago back when I didn't even have a phone, I used an iPod, and an iHome docking station. well long since then I lost the iPod and really have no use for the iHome station.
HOWEVER--
I kinda want to look into an audio docking station for android. I know there's a small amount out there on the market.
so to everyone lurking these forums. have you guys tried any of these, and if so what's your opinion on them?

There is both a car dock and a desk dock available from Samsung. You can see several options on Amazon, for example.
The car dock is nice in that it relieves strain on the phone's connectors. Unfortunately it's mounting options are basically useless in my Mini Cooper.

Thanks for the reply, and I have looked at those, but that's not quite what I'm looking for. I'm talking about a stereo dock(one that has the speakers and stuff on the unit) I know the dock has audio out but I'm kinda looking for something different...kinda like the fidelio series by Phillips.

I've looked for something like that in the past, but Android doesn't get a lot of love in that arena like the iOS devices do. I think you'll probably have to find a speaker setup with a standard 1/8 audio jack.

Aw. That's what I was afraid of. I didn't think there would be a big audience for this, but I thought I'd give it a shot.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried the very few out there. I do appreciate the help though

haha this is pretty awesome. nice and portable
I've though about getting one of these.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/electronics/portable-audio-video/c458/
I doubt it would sound as nice as the X-Mini, but it would at least allow me to have a speaker pointed towards me while still being able to have my phone face up and be able to control it.
I also though about getting two of those speakers and one of these as well.
http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/speakers/headsets/abf9/
Then make two custom cable separating out the left and right channels and I could have truly stereo sound in a small key chain friendly package.

the second link is just a splitter, you'd end up with MONO still. You want one of these http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102691
Looks pretty cool but too bad it doesn't have bluetooth.
Yeah that's the only downfall. But I love the audio. It's unbelievable.

It would come across as mono if I just plugged the speakers right into the splitter. My idea would be to make two custom cable, one only connecting the right channel and the other only connecting the left channel. I would use some wire with white insulation, find a pair of white adapter and solder them up myself. I may be overkill, but I enjoy doing that kind of stuff, and it would all match and be much more aesthetic.
Amazing. I love it. Any links on deals on this product? Thank you for the find. I've been looking for something like this
I'm assuming your talking about the X-Mini. If so, then check out Thinkgeek, they have all kinds of stuff like that. I'm sure if you do some searching, you could find it cheaper, but I like using Thinkgeek when I can cause they are well know and respected and won't disappear tomorrow like some of these fly-by-night ebay dealers (i.e. Replace/refund if not satisfied or defective)
Oh, and just though I'd add, I love the link in your signature.
Thanks for the video.
Seems to be better than any portable speakers i've seen.

EDIT: Oh by the way, make sure its the X-Mini II the 1st version wasn't that great.

Thanks a lot. Watching movies listening to music and online radio will be a blast. BTW... how many speakers you planning on ordering? I'm thinking about maybe 6 or 7 and also use them for my laptop. Thank you so much for this find.
You're very welcome bro. I got 2 for now. I can always get more, but 2is more than enough for me as of the moment.

Definitely Props to you man, I love toying around with random things as well.
Looks like there is a MAX version too that looks cool - stereo sound
search for this: X-Mini MAX II
All those that want bluetooth with it - I have BT headphone with a 3.5mm jack so you can use your own choice of headphone in them, the headphones can always be swapped for any other devices with a line in like these speakers.
Yes the max is pretty good too... I just like how the X-mini II looks like, the max looks kinda ugly IMO but its all bout personal preference, (besides the stereo of course) although, I heard there is a way to make the X-mini II stereo... Ill research more then get back to you guys bout it.

so wait... the x-mini MAX 2 is an upgraded version of x-mini? i dont really like the way the two speakers split i like the x-mini more.
Kinda, its a newer version. But I wouldn't call it an upgrade, I still like the xmini II, The one you see in the video is X-mini II, the capsule is the X-mini max II. The X-mini 1st version wasn't that great.

Music dock

Hi
Does anybody know of a music dock with speaker and amplifier to play music?
There is several avalibel for the iPhone but i can't finde any for the DHD :-(
I'd also like any information on this too. I've missed a great music dock since my W800i.
It amazes me that there is such a huge selection of iPod docks yet I do not know of one single mini USB dock - wtf?

Yeah. Sometimes it's just easier to go with the flow! In the sense that if a music dock was a deal-breaker then best get an iPod/iPhone as there're plenty of alternatives.
Though you can get Bluetooth ones or ones with a 3.5mm aux input which would work. Depends whether you want to charge at the same time. It'd be nice to.
Dave
PS: don't ask me for links as I've seen them whilst *surfing* the web but not book-marked them as I'm not after one myself!
Any news about this ? I'm interested of buying one 'music dock'. Anyone found something?

Maybe something like this ... http://www.gromaudio.com/store/accessories/cable-c-ipd2jk.html ... will allow you to use ipod stuff? Not tried one myself though.
Dave
Why not just buy a pair of PC speakers?
I cant really see what docking would add extra feature-wise. Unless you can simulate the buttons from the headphones.
PC speakers? Hardly a great way to listen to music from our DHD's.
A dock I am after will hold the DHD, charge it & play music from it.

It will still be a hellovalot better than the builtin speaker
Edit: Are you looking for something portable? That you keep on your lap? My 10 year old Creative Inspire 440 4.1 speaker set is small and makes a crap load of noise.
I'm after something that would sit happily on a sideboard or table, and not look out of place.
I ideally want the DHD equivalent of the B&W Zeppelin iPod HiFi system. I can dream....
If we can't find a complete set, I think a simple dock with 3.5mm out it will be good ... with a good set of speakers.
I run a 3.5mm to L+R RCA cable to a NAD Amp, running to 2 floor standing 300w Speakers and I can tells you ... I certainly get better sound than any of the iPod docks get!
Spare charger runs right next to it on a phone stand thing and I'm sorted.
I posted the adaptor cable earlier but that was only for interest. On my office desk I have a Celjel stand and connect a mains charger and an amp to my DHD. The amp is connected to my PC as well but I use an amp so that I can use decent speakers ....
In the living room where my main stereo is I was going to get one of these ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/QED-uPLAY-WIRELESS-BLUETOOTH-RECEIVER/dp/B003BF0OF2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ce_6 ... sounds expensive but it gets great reviews. So then the DHD gets played through my floor standing Mission speakers .. . All I need on top of that is a cheap fleabay charging stand for it to sit on the stereo stand. Sorted!
Dave
I know this is a slightly old thread but wondering if anyone has found a good music dock? I am after a small portable music dock, preferably one which charges the DHD at the same time, but would settle for a decent one with just 3.5mm connector.
Any recommendations?
I love it when old, but still useful, threads get revived.
Sadly I could not find a dock that I liked. So I made my own from a chunk of timber, a male to male 3.5mm jack and my wifes old SGS charger.
It took about 5 hours to get it right and sanded down, finished with a coat of teak oil.
I roughly followed this guide, but its set about 4-5mm into the wood leaning back and has a smaller back board.
Perfect bank holiday weekend project!
I wish you could just buy something like this http://www.talkandroid.com/guides/ipod-dock-adapter-for-motorola-droidmilestone/ instead of having to make it yourself

BlueTooth Speaker?

I was at best buy and saw[and heard] the jawbone jambox, its really nice, so I Ask the guy how much it is, he says 200, I'm like WTF?? So is there a cheaper[$50?] one that sounds good and is about the same size?
I also am kind of looking for a bluetooth audio receiver... like one hat recieves it from the phone and out a 3.5mm to speakers...?
From My Samsung Epic Using TapaTalk.
I'm also looking for budget bluetooth speakers. I'd like to come home and play music from my phone through some speakers every once in a while, but I don't want to break the bank.
Suggestions anyone?
Wat I really want is a Bluetooth audio receiver. That would be the best, I already have a marginally good speaker setup for my PC. halp D:?
I dug a little bit and found this little doo-dad. seems neat, but i think my cable could suffice for a little longer?

I bought a bluetooth speakerbox at Best Buy. It was their in house brand Insignia. They actually sounded better than all the other ones which were around $70 because they had such good bass response. These were only $19, on sale.

I love the Blackberry Audio Gateway. All it does is receive stereo BT, nothing else, and outputs it into the AUX jack in the car stereo. It powers up and down through the cig lighter and car battery, pairs in seconds virtually every time. Only thing I can maybe fault it for is being overly bass-heavy. And it's fairly inexpensive.
Edit:
here's the link to the Amazon page and the reviews at the bottom. seems legit to me.

for a decent but inexpensive radio, I have the Clarion CZ-500 in my truck.
It does bluetooth hands free calling as well as A2DP profile for audio. If you use an app like Vlingo on your phone, then you can text hands free as well
There are lots of radios to choose from that support A2DP. I'm suggesting one that I use all the time. There are many others. You can pick up a refurb on ebay for less than $100 I would imagine.
It also has a lengthy USB cord (that my daughter uses ) to plug her iPod touch into and the radio will control the ipod's music player. The USB will not charge the Epic though FWIW.
Hope this helps

Stay away from wireless FM. Go inline with the antenna. All wireless is crap. Haven't looked into it, but if you have an input of some sort for a cd changer or xm, there is probably an aux unit that can take advantage of it with a true line in and much better SQ than FM will give.

Bluetooth to Stereo adapter

So the headphone jack on my Sensation has been less then pleasant lately. Reading up about it, it seems its a common hardware problem. Seeing as its a common problem, I feel sensing my phone in is going to be a temporary fix as it could happen again. I'll also be without a phone for sometime.
I was thinking about getting a Bluetooth to stereo adapter. I looked up a bit and found one called the Clipper by Jabra.
http://www.jabra.com/products/bluetooth/jabra_clipper/jabra_clipper
I'm looking for something like this, however the reviews on Amazon arent promising.
Does anyone know of an alternative to the Clipper that works well?

Sony Ericsson MW600 is a gem. Have this since my Nexus One days. Like the clipper you can use pretty much any headphones/in ear earbuds/ you want. And the unit is also a FM radio as well. Track listing I think works now too. Not 100%.

If you don't mind me asking, do you use it for music very frequently, and how is the sound quality/loudness? I plan on using this primarily for music.
