Installed custom rom, lost root access - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I recently rooted, unlocked the bootloader, and installed cleanrom 4.1 on my Htc One XL (AT&T) using TWRP. At some point during the day it appears that i lost roots access, and as such can not boot recovery or use Titanium Backup. How can i regain root access? Should i factory reset my phone and just restore from my last Titanium Backup file?

At this point i would just like to revert back to stock. Can someone please give me a detailed guide on how to do this? If you know an easier way for me to fix this issue that would also be appreciated.

I tried rerooting using the oneclick method on htconexroot.com, and now supersu keeps force closing and all apps that request root access simply endlessly load instead of saying "root access denied" or anything else like that. It also appears that some apps that require root still work. For example, "Adfree" still appears to be in effect, as even free versions of games are adfree. Also, i believe this may have happened after clearing Google Framework data ( or cache? I am not sure), which i had to do to fix a glitch that was not allowing me to install market apps.
*Edit: It was the Google Services Framework Cache*

Why would you goto an outside source to root? Have you tried the root methods in the dev threads? Look in main thread and stickies

Just download the ruu that matches what your on 1.85 for example those are found in stickies in the roll up

I originally rooted with the xda one click method, but it would not reroot my phone, so i tried rerooting using the other method. And do i have to relock the bootloader before running ruu?

I also heard that i would not be able to reroot after using the stock ruu. Is that true?

Relock and run ruu... Then root ... I did and it worked fine

How do i relock the bootloader? Keep in mind that i can not boot into bootloader or recovery - or i can't figure out how, anyway.

Hold volume down and power at the same time wait ... Wait ... Wait , don't let go until bootloader pops up

Switch bootloader over to fastboot
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I did that for about a minute and nothing happened, but soon after i let go it boot up normally. How long am i supposed to do it?

Keep both buttons down until boot screen appears

I had to turn off fast boot, but thank you so much! It worked! i decided to boot into recovery, can i wipe and reflash the rom? Or should i proceed with ruu?

Keep fastboot off... It's not needed... Try both ways try wiping all that's needed.. if that doesn't work ruu is always a last resort
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

You should download goomanager from the google play store, and install twrp
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

I tried reflashing but the installation almost immediately failed. I chose to check for md5 file and it said no md5 file found. What does this mean?

I would just go the route of the ruu
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2

From the bootloader screen, what do i do to relock the bootloader?

I think i figured it out, but when i type "fastboot oem lock", it says it is not a recognized command. Ideas?

yes. relock your bootloader
from bootloader type fastboot oem lock
then you can flash the 1.85 RUU
just run the file from windows.
After that you can unlock with the same unlock token you got when you unlocked in the first place
then you can install recovery again
but the ruu requires the phone to be on and usb debugging on

You can find a link to the drivers in the first post in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709424
Once you have them installed you'll have to reboot in to fastboot and install the official 1.85 RUU.
Also so you know I had a similar experience when I was on cleanrom 2.6 and tried to format and go to 3.0. I had to relock the bootloader, RUU to stock and install a different rom cause 3.0 would just never install for me for whatever reason, it would always bootloop back in to recovery. However I had backed up my NANDROID to my PC so I copied it back over to my SD card after I was on stock then restored it then did an in-place upgrade to 3.1 which worked. I was able to install cleanrom 4 after a wipe without issue.

Recovery Issurs

I have soft bricked my phone 3 times due to my recovery not sticking. I followed the OneXRoot.com instructions. When I flashed the TWRP on the terminal ( I use mac) it says sending ok booting ok then boots onto the recovery. Once I restart the phone and try to get back in recovery its either a bootloop or black screen, phone and red triangle. I've tried ./fastboot-mac flash and boot with the .IMG file name. Please help.

That's hopeful. Do what gunnyman said. If that doesn't solve your problem than see if you can get Windows running via Boot Camp or the risky virtual machine.

I think a good first step is to verify you're rooted and the bootloader is still unlocked.
pushing an image to the phone SHOULD fail if it's locked but stranger stuff has happened

Bootloader unlocked ,still rooted.....only Rom I've ran is the CleanRom...don't believe you need puts the IMG file...after I push IMG files is when I notice the soft brick...guess I have to figure out how to get twrp through goomanager

Ok so installing TWRP through GooManager WORKED. Thanks. That's one issue fixed. Now flashing another Rom is the issue. I've tried slim ics and cm9 and after pushing the img file ad flashing Rom in recovery I get an error. Something about assert failed. Any idea what that could be?
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
You're flashing roms not meant for your phone. Use roms in our development section only.

For slim ics I know it said htc one x....maybe not for the att version. I'll keep that in mind and look around. I guess no stable aosp roms out. Thanks a lot for your help. I'll repost if I run to ant other issues
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
There's AOKP, CM9, Paranoid Android, MIUI, just to name a few stable AOSP roms available. All you have to do is stay within this forum..no need to wander off to the international One X forums

Lol..feel so dumb. I think that's where I was. Might not know this but is the aosp issue still goin on with the lockscreen when calls come through? I liked miui on the evo but had a ring delay when calls came through

One X Root Help

I was using the all in one root kit, thought i followed everything correctly.
If I boot the phone up, it get's stuck on the HTC screen.
When I go to bootloader and select recovery it goes to TWRP. When I select a .zip rom to install it always fails.
Suggestions?
I rooted my phone yesterday and got a boot loop. I fix that by downloading the official RUU for the phone from HTC website and relock bootloader, flash the RUU. I don't know what happened to you though

I think I managed to delete the OS that was on the phone, so now it has no OS. But I'm not sure. I'm hoping one of these smart guys can tell me the problem/solution

what does it say when it fails installing the rom? are you sure the rom is for the right device?
also, maybe the rom is corrupt? you could try downloading it again (if you are sure it's for your device).
Turn off md5 check in twrp. Then try flashing again. If your on Hboot 1.14 you'll need to flash that boot IMG for that rom in adb first.

I tried every recovery. But I got it working by flashing stock recovery then clear storage then cwm and everything worked. But it won't let me flash any roms it gives me the status 7 error

If you have flashed stock recovery I suggest you relock bootloader and flash an RUU. Once you get every stock, try it again from scratch.

Unable to flash recovery/install Superuser

So I just recently got my new One X after breaking my previous one. I got it back with S-Off and changed CID which I thought was strange. I unlocked the bootloader but it seems as if recoveries won't successfully flash. I don't get an error while flashing either. I assume that because of this, I'm not able to install superuser. Any suggestions on what I could do? If more information is needed, let me know.

Bootloader details please. Exact filenames of any recoveries you've attempted to flash. Also what method you've used flash them.
