[Q] Restoring nandroid - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Has anyone been able to fully and properly restore a nandroid using CWM on the Asus TF300 yet. I know their were some issues with restoring the kernel but i was wondering if someone had found a way to do it, i tried restoring and then flashing .30 kernel but it didnt take. Any help would be appreciated.

[Q] I need confirmation if this will work

I rooted my transformer using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125714. It was before the 8.4.4.11 update (which I didn't receive) so that is not what matters. I decided that I will go and flash the prime 1.5 rom and cwm recovery. At first, all I did was just root without even installing clockworkmod recovery, so I am running stock 3.1. Does anyone here recommend using the ClockworkMod 3.1.0.1-solarnz-R3 recovery? I have read that there can be some issues, but those peoples problems might not exactly pertain to me. I don't know If I might have different results.
I have flashed my device countess times with CWM and backed up and restored my device several more and have yet to run into a single problem. I would highly recommend it. And going with the modded version has the added benefit of keeping your files on the internal storage safe from data wiping. Give it a shot you won't regret it.

anyone have the default rom or recovery? thanks!!
I have a backup made with CWM 4.0.1.4 of the original phone state. Still unrooted and all. HOWEVER, when trying to retore it on another U8652 CWM throws an error when restoring the boot.img and does not complete. When I can figure out a fix (hopefully someome will help) I will make that nand backup publicly available.

[Q] On ics and restoring back roms

Hello,
As of right now I have root revolver (with nanadroid backup of it). I was considering installing this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514658
Would I be able to use my nandroid backup of revolver to rollback if it's not what I expect? Also will I be able to unroot like you do in honeycomb (Install stock fw and recovery)? I'm a bit confused because people are telling me different things. Thanks
you have to nandroid backup then flash the rom that you were using when you did the backup or else you will bootloop

Questions before tinkering with ROM's/Kernels

hey guys,
I'm trying to do a backup through CWM before I flash CleanROM and start tinkering with some stuff. The issue I'm having is when I try to backup it gives me an error saying "error backing up boot image!!"
I've done plenty of backups through CWM in the past and never has this issue, anyone have a solution? I have no problem wiping out/re-flashing if necessary but I want a backup before I do all that!
I have CWM version 5.5.0.4 on my TF300T running CM9 at the moment. Could this issue have been caused by when I reverted back to stock about a week ago, and broke something?
That necessitates another question then: if I copy/paste the structure of my internal memory card manually to my computer, and then do whatever I want on the tablet, can I just restore that backup and pick up where I left off? Or will it break dependencies and whatnot?
My other question is how do I get started with custom kernels? ROM's seem to be a dime a dozen but I can't find very many kernels, and I don't have the slightest clue where to start with them.
Last question is, since CWM is giving me issues can I just flash over the existing CWM install with the new CWM touch version, or will that break something/make me lose my backups/etc?
Any help is appreciated

Realization: I'm actually running CWM 5.8.3.4 and I just realized that when I installed ROM Toolbox it let me update CWM and after that update is when I started running into these issues. So the same question then remains, if I just flash the older CWM over my current install, will that wipe out everything or will it retain whats there and just overwrite my CWM install?
dump CWM altogether and use TWRS!

I might try TWRS but I want to try the CWM touch version first before I change. As it turns out, I just flashed the v5.5.0.4 over my current install and it worked fine and I'm backing up my install at the moment. Seems it might have been an error in the 5.8 version of CWM that was causing my grief. So that resolves two of my issues, my question about the kernels still remains if anyone can shed some light.
i havent tried the touch CWM. i just wish the keyboard worked in recovery, that would be awesome!

Which recovery? TWRS? or CWM?

Please help PLEASE (failed nandroid restore)

Hello, i previously recovered using xsball gingerbread guide, i thought id brave roms again and was using touch recovery that came with the guide. To help things a long i took backups and restored then when roms failed etc. this all went fine.
I thin thought, maybe its because im using touch that roms were failing so i installed non touch 5.0.2.0, took my backup and flashed my rom (CM10). This failed (bootloop) so i tried to restore my backup. CM repotred that the backup was successfull but now when i reboot im stuck at LG logo with all of the lights on and nothing happening.
I can get back into CWM can anyone suggest ANYTHING?
Maybe if someone could upload the same version of CWM touch that came with the GB guide i could flash that via CWM non-touch somehow?
can someone suggest ANYTHING to get my phoen to work again
Thanks (Desperate)
