Hey guys, i've looked everywhere on here and rootzwiki for the ics aosp mms.apk.
Its the white version, not the inverted one. Im running leedroid 2.1.0 and I found another white version off of another website but after installing it, it won't send mms like the inverted one.
I had the regular white version before and it sent mms, but had to wipe my phone recently and lost the file.
if anyone has it and it sends mms, please upload it. thanks!
White aosp mms.apk from CM9 yesterdays build
http://db.tt/7iY8aMF1
It sends mms on cm9... idk about a sense rom.... u should be fine
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
haha well, i still cant send mms. idk why. Last time I just installed the white one and it worked fine without having to tweak the apn or anything.
when i try to send mms, it lets me set it up but when i hit send, it vanishes

What about when u hit back cap key after hitting send... does it show up then? Or is it like how the inverted mms is? It must be a compatibility issue with sense... idk

its acting just like the inverted mms. The message vanishes as soon as i tap the send key.
this is sooooo strange!

AOSP messaging app needs to be edited to send mms on Sense ROMs. I'm not sure what the trick is, but you can try one of these apps from Google Play..

so im a dummy haha, i installed the mms from cm9 and then i went to systems/apps and cleare the data and it works! I tried it with the black inverted version and it works too! I can send mms with both!
The only weird thing is that on the white version, the keyboard has a smiley button and I can install a modded ics keyboard that has a noseless smiley (smileys without the nose) but in the inverted version, the smiley button is an enter button and I cannot change it regardless of installing the noseless smiley button or not.
but its not a big deal, I can send pictures!

Where are you finding the inverted one?
Sent from my H1S using XDA Premium.
The inverted one is in thread called tweak machine in themes and apps section, it has all inverted AOSP apps.
Will try the ones linked to on market, the AOSP MMS app, inverted or not is my biggest headache by far on the One S. Send or recieve pics doesn't ever work on CM9, doesn't work on leedroid, modaco... gets stuck on "sending" for me, haven't seen that the message disappears since on a sense ROM I believe.
I got it, thank you!

Top one has ads, bottom one is claimed by the author probably not to work with MMS's, seems many ppl just don't use MMS (as opposed to SMS which works very well in AOSP app) Maybe that explains why so many ppl claim that AOSP MMS works for them. Are we the only guys here with a girlfriend with a medieval phone who needs MMS functionality?

gave this a whirl and adb pushed the Mms.apk from aokp milestone 6 to /system/app/Messaging+CRC_1.apk (i think thats what its called in sense for some reason haha) then went and wiped data and the emoji support is working in leedroid
Got MMS working on CM9 20120716, dunno if it was new upstream CM changes or that I changed APN settings to match what was in an old screenshot I finally found from stock HTC rom, but it works fine with AOSP app as well as the inverted 4.0.4-eng-travp264.20120602.222408 from tweak machine 1306. Attached screenshot with APN settings for Three (3)Sweden if anyone needs... Only one APN, not two as default in CM9.

No, but if you use hancent or an alternate sms app, you can blacklist the text message. I must say eventhough they blacklist I get them from time to time.
Make sure you stop the notifications on the stock app if you decide to use another sms app.

Download the link above. You will then get your voicemails but you will also get the 9016 text messages.
Add 9016 to your contacts
Down load Redlist and any other SMS app(ie Handcent)....you will now be using a 3rd party messaging app. If you don't want to do that, you should abandon ship right here. I personally am not sure I will go this route because of this....I have reasons....
Redlist the 9016 contact(I blacklisted it too...dunno the difference)
Disable the stock messaging app notification(you have to do that anyway or you would get double notifications)
Even with this set up, you will STILL get a red dot in the notification bar indicating a redlisted contact is contacting you. So you must go into the Redlist settings and disable any notifications.
There ya have it. A major PIA(IMHO) to enjoy the perceived benefits of an AOSP ROM!(maybe this is endemic to GB AOSP ROMs only???)
duh...

fyi, google voice is an official option now. or you can be smart and install youmail from the market, no 9016 messages, handles your voicemail and has ALL kinds of neat features most every "voicemail" sevice would charge for, but they include it for free. this may just be the first helpful post i've evar made.

Hi,
I hate the look of some of the official ICS apps..can someone help to port the 'old' ICS apps so that they can work on this? For example:
1. Messages (it was white and clean and beautiful, now ugly)
2. Dialer (i enjoyed swiping panes, and the dpi scaled right...now at 280 dpi it's distorted)
3. Calendar (the app was beautiful and ESPECIALLY the widget..lovely)

Edit: Temporary solution found! I'm now using the market messaging app, with SMS POPUP as my notification source, and the screen turns on for the popup! Better than nothing, though I would much prefer the stock way of turning the lockscreen on and have the message in the status/notification bar. Thanks for your help all.
Just to reiterate: problem with the market ICS messaging app (otherwise perfect) is that when message is received screen doesn't turn on. Notification arrives normally and I get the ping, but I have manually turn screen on to see it. Tried making it system app but didn't help. Any other ideas appreciated, thanks!

You have to disable notifications on the one you don't want to see notifications from. This is not the best explanation, but it's as if your messages get sent to one location where any message app can read them. Essentially, both apps are still looking for notifications, therefore, notifying you twice.
I have look

Wow, i see what you mean. That does suck. I was responding to this but decided to test for myself.
I've been using Go SMS since I got the phone last tuesday and I never had the issue. I installed Handcent and tested (now I have stock, go SMS and handcent). The very first message I sent to myself from my wife's phone I got double messages as you experienced. I sent myself five more and I did not received any more doubles. Not sure what it is, but this was the first and hopefully last time I'll see this.
Did you uninstall all the third party messaging apps and test to see if the issue goes away?

I am using Genesis v1 Beta 9. MMS was working before I installed the inverted one. I found a different inverted MMS app that worked, but it was sub-par on looks and usability (wouldn't display contact names, only numbers).
When I try to send or receive mms, my signal bars gray out and the H disappears momentarily, then I am told there was an error downloading.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? Obviously the regular mms and the other inverted one got it right...but also, no one else has complained about broken mms on the forum where I got the faulty inverted mms apk.

It seems that it really is a faulty mms. I would just re-install the app. Another way is to look up another inverted mms apk. I think that eagle's blood has a dark apps with mms apk in it. Just use that, I am pretty sure it is compatible.
I tried a couple different inverted/dark mms apps without success except for the ugly one (based on GB I think). I will try the EB mms apk and see how it goes. Otherwise I guess I will go back to a 3rd party app. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey, after a few searches, I know this has been brought up elsewhere, but I'm just looking for updates.
I just changed over to handcent so I can have emojis, but now I'm realizing that the app doesn't work with one of my favorite features: the lock screen shortcut notification for sms/mms messages. What I'm looking for is some way that when you swipe that circle with the unread count for sms that it brings you to handcent (or whatever other 3rd party sms app) instead of the stock messaging app. I figure there has to be a way..
You're talking about on ICS TW(Stock setup) right? I don't believe that would be able to be done without a MOD of some sort.
I think you can do what you want, with a bit of a different look, using something like widget locker or some other lockscreen replacement app.

Thanks for the reply. Yea, ICS TW for now (synergy to be exact, not that it matters in this case). I really like the stock setup for the lockscteen, but I'll check out widget locker. I guess the best solution would be if someone made emojis work on rooted stock, but I'm not sure how much work that entails. I've only seen it available on AOSP

As for the sms icon/app you can change it under shortcuts where you toggle it on and off, you can click it and change it to your sms program.
Yeah, the OP wants to change where the missed message count brings him when he swipes it.
Long shot, but is there an ASOP messaging app we can use? And would that be able to be recognized as "stock"? I know ASOP has a mod for emojis

I did this on my old RAZR so maybe it's similar. What I did was rename the stock MMS to .bak then moved my preferred MMS app to system/app folder and renamed it to the stock MMS rebooted and it worked. Worth a shot, I'm on eclipse or I'd try it.

If it breaks anything you just delete the file you moved and thanks the original back to mms.apk
I have an inverted version of the stock MMS app (4.0.4-eng.tvap624.20120702.011632) and I can say that the notification that pops up on the stock lockscreen is unique to the Samsung mms app. This means notifications using any other mms app will not show up as a swipable event on the stock lockscreen. Inverted stock is a great version of the mms app. I just renamed secmms.apk (I believe) with .bak, put in the new app, renamed it as the original, set permissions, and rebooted. I have emoji support and messages on an all black background. It's nice.

thanks for the info. where did you get the inverted stock mms app? does it work 100%? I think this will be the best option for me since handcent has been slow and crashing. is the emoji support complete ios6?

GoSms also has emoji support. But you'll run into the same issue with the lock screen.

I know, I'm actually using Handcent right now for emojis (didnt want to pay GoSMS just to send emojis).
It seems like lockscreen support is probably a complete no go unless someone somehow mods the stock mms for emojis (no idea how intense that process might be).

Lol, I never noticed you had to pay to be able to send them. My bad.
